get hi everybody welcome to my cooking stream got it all going I got it all set up so hopefully it works fine super excited I'm glad yeah hopefully it goes good but I mean that's kind of the joy of saying hey this is a recipe that I've been sitting on for a little bit let's just try it there's also the great added element of butternut squash kind of sucks to cut it and I'm small so you also get the thrill of wondering if I'm gonna chop off my hand so yeah I'm mildly echoey okay okay first though I'm gonna make a tea so if you need to make a tea or anything go for it eyeball it dial nine-one-one for what I never realized otter is tiny I am most of the time when people meet me in person they're like I didn't realize you were that short etc yeah I'm 5 foot now I gotta make tea so I'm saying you wanna make some tea Mason tea my dude I love loose leaf tea because it like I know that this has a benefit to the taste and all of that but I love watching the it like bloom in their not bloom but everything like kind of like like stretches out okay and water okay how are you guys doing in my head you're super tiny but in reality we're literally the same height sometimes I feel like I need people who are the same height as me but because they're like I'm like a bit stockier than they are I feel like there's so much smaller like that kind of a weird mental thing we're gonna like I feel like you're shorter than me but in reality you're just like smaller than me in some way you know yeah for any of you guys who were like I've never had curry before I'm really curious if I'd like curry either I love curry but there's also so many different types of curry like curry is totally different depending on where the curry is from this one is a butternut squash like spin on like a Thai red curry so yeah so it'll it'll have more like Thai curry flavors if you've had Thai curry before but yeah if you were to go to like a place with Japanese curry it would be completely different if you went to an Indian curry would be totally different yeah they're just delicious like spice filled goop's that you put on your ice I don't know saying Indian curry gives me heartburn so in America we make we make our tikka masala like at least a little bit spicy like at least a little bit of a bite which in England that is like not a thing so the last couple of times that I've gotten a tikka masala in England I've been like oh right this is gonna be like super mild and I'm always let down because I'm so used to what like we like how we make tikka masala here like I made this curry the other day after you tweeted it and it's so good delightful I'm so glad I can't wait yeah I love so I'm guilty of this I follow this person the person whose blog this is I follow their Instagram because they're plating is so pretty they do the like I'm just gonna throw [ __ ] everything on this plate it's like the opposite of really minimalist you know like like here's this pretty tiny thing on this giant play it's just like [ __ ] everything on the plate but it looks so pretty so that's how I found this person was I was like keep running across these were really pretty pictures of food so I'm just gonna follow them but then all the recipes sounded really good I'm so glad that you've tried it dad gives me hope it's it sounds foolproof like it sounds it like it should taste amazing so vindaloo is pain I don't I can't do vindaloo Jesse gets a vindaloo every time he has Indian food and I'm just like does the stream have TV magic it does not so when we give everything in the instant pot we're gonna have a lot of time to kill to just like chill and do whatever while it's compressing and pressuring and Dee pressuring and all that [ __ ] yeah we're gonna have to just like hang that's good big gun hope you're cool with that jesse is also in pain afterwards he says it's age yeah the few times that I've gotten Indian food with Jesse he's always like you gotta try this and I always say I don't I'm sure it's delicious but I won't be able to look past the heat right I've never like built up my tolerance to the point of uh vindaloo so vindaloo is always like I literally can't enjoy this it's too much right and I always cave and I always take a little bite and I'm just like nice [Music] chugging milk yeah it's really good food shouldn't hurt me yeah so okay let's start I'll start getting everything together let's make sure we have everything so got our curry paste you got coconut milk we've got our veggie broth great first three things all together fish sauce so um I originally said that I wanted to make something that was like vegetarian fish sauce is the one thing that's on this list that is not vegetarian friendly I'm gonna put it in because I love but if you want to omit it obviously feel free if we're cooking alongside of each other I'm sure if you planned on making a vegetarian meal you just didn't buy the fish sauce but just like throwing it out there there is fish sauce in this recipe [Music] I am cooking is happening creamy peanut butter we've got cubed butternut squash here's the thing I'm gonna have to look up how to safely do that a stick of cinnamon got that grated fresh ginger the juice from a lime when does the ginger go in oh [ __ ] that was a picture my phone was dying it's still dying it hasn't been charging very well not my favorite my phone was dying and so I just took a picture of the ingredient list when I went to the grocery store so I just had the picture up and didn't realize and tried to scroll and then got very confused it's fine there it is what are we making we're making a butternut squash Thai red curry in the instant pot but you can also make it in a slow cooker and you could also just make it stovetop it's like it's like varying degrees of speed you can make it stovetop if you want a slow cooker and just leave it forever instant pot if you want to eat it as soon as possible which is me yeah I hope it goes well again I hope that Oh my grocery store I didn't have pomegranates that's the that was the other thing on the list that I don't have or the one thing on the list I guess that I don't have is pomegranates but I think they're just sprinkled on top at the end I'm cool with not having those let me double-check that that's the case I'm pretty sure though yeah pomegranate arrows for serving okay they're supposed to just go on at the end I'm sure it's amazing but there were no pomegranates at the grocery store so so we're not doing it I'm wondering how soon we need the UM the ginger okay we need everything like pretty early on because it's a slow cooker slashings in pot thing okay so let's start grating ginger I got ginger a lime we don't need two limes oh no oh no and watch it oh what a fool what an absolute fool I'm gonna watch this real fast hold on I was like I watched nearly everything I don't remember seeing it in the sink it wasn't in the sink it was next to the sink and I apparently just pretended it didn't exist - despite the fact that I was going to need it tonight so what can you do okay who's that um my parents crash I don't know how caught up you know it's mr. Hannen badger who's a friend of mine in one of our mods she literally linked me to a thing not that long ago that was like here's how to safely chop up a butternut squash because I was saying oh man I have a butternut squash and I have a bunch of carrots in my fridge I should really like try to make like a soup or something and she was like oh let me link you to a thing how to safely remove a tick soft porn saw porn thought pork okay got really distracted how to safely okay butternut squash Kate Joe how do you thought porn surely wasn't I'm scrambling here I need to know before I can finish this meal okay ah interesting so they vote this person votes for chopping off the neck and then scooping out the seeds and then peeling okay we're gonna do that first that's the part that I'm the most liked about so I'm just gonna get it done big ooh boy I want I want a stool but I don't have I have a big stool but it's like - I think that would be too much this probably isn't the right kind of knife to use but it's happening yeah oh no I didn't get to the seat bed I guess I'll just keep the choppin it can I get you up please there we go okay you're dead I'll make this our compost that needs to be it's like what can I put that in the Senate oh I think that's probably easier okay so now this don't show your mom this she's gonna worry don't show your mom what I'm doing okay great for safe it's all done okay scoop these out up and roast them that's what we can do while we're waiting I love man scooping out like scooping the seeds out of pumpkin butternut squash acorn squash like all of those is it smell it has such a specific smell and I love it scooping I have the guts scooping out the guts the crystal seeds in a while I should do them in the dehydrator ah I love it don't make fun of me I love it smells great that's pretty much it okay good sprinkle the roasted seeds on the curry [ __ ] and then that'll be our that the pomegranate isn't there for look at you with the big ideas hell yes good idea okay I love it I love it I love it let's do that so not dehydrating we're just gonna pop them right into the oven that'll be great okay okay those are good okay so now I guess you need to feel this okay that's fine guys I'm gonna stream or making a curd in the instant pot or the slow cooker or on your soap I feel like I need to say that because anytime I'm like I'm gonna make a thing in the instant pot everybody's like I don't have one but you can still make it you can make it I think originally this is supposed to be a slow cooker recipe she just later on is like you can also make it any instant pot like this so oh god it's so dense no what kind of an [ __ ] created butternut squash to be like this I say as though there aren't foods that are extremely difficult to be able to eat it was so hard I have to like use the peeler like two or three times in the same spot it's impossible for real though I'm gonna my back's gonna hurt if I keep doing it there so I'm not going to either just like someday you're the reason I got an instant pot do you use it a lot I know people either use there's a lot Weezer's a lot either use it a lot or never use it I use it so much I love it I'm so glad okay this also is not ideal because I have to get on my tiptoes to gain any purchase on this thing someone saved me for being short someone give me a Fantasia potent for real life that will make me normal ass height I don't want to be a Veera I'm not trying I'm not trying to be like a big stomp on me Mommy sort of like character and my own wife I'm just like just your mind I'm fine with being normal height Sam was like really [ __ ] on Walla fellows I'm just stirring the other day and I was like you realize if we teleported to the world of Final Fantasy 14 i 100% would be a la LaFell and he was like no you're just like a small here you'd be fine and I was like have you seen my legs my legs are literally shaped like Walla fell legs they go like this the universe he would fly that shard and the universe would be like oh yeah lalla fell and then you just have to deal with it um also thank you to anybody who was sending good lucks and things or like well wishes for meeting this morning i know that i've been really vague about like this sort of stuff that we're doing when it comes to like sam's green card and my immigration like all of that stuff but but we appreciate all the support and all the love i think it's in our best interest to just like not talk about specifics of what's going on at all cuz we just don't know the timetable like they can't give us a timetable really on anything just really fun so so yeah but but we appreciate like your guys's patience and i have to switch streams around and stuff but hey we get to do a cooking stream so i can't complain cooking streams were so much fun I'm so glad I'm I'm like I kind of wanna just say [ __ ] the peeler and just cut at this but I'm worried that I'm gonna like waste a lot of butternut squash that way okay how about this because I don't I just my tea forever oh no I don't think this is gonna taste good let's find out I love over steep tea I don't like when it gets too bitter there's like a there's like a tipping point for me I like I like the tea flavor to be strong that's why I don't put any sugar or honey or anything in my tea ever but that's fine that's fine that's just fine okay we can put that on the on the packaging for that D over steep it it's still pretty alright direct quote David be like I don't I don't think that would fly what a good marketer I tried look I just try to operate with honesty and integrity whoo it's getting easier to chop the smaller the neck is the easier it is to chop write that down on the back of a book about serial killers okay and now we cube it yeah easy like how big of cubes do we think I feel like I'm good with cubes like that do you think that's too big I don't think so for butternut squash it's gonna break down so much in there I think that's probably good yeah you know like a cute just make a cube do not watch me for pointers about chopping things full disclosure we try to be safe and I try to take my time and those are my priorities I don't really worry too much about like doing it right clenched the entire time while she chops I'm sorry I'm sorry Oh Lord that must've been loud I'm sorry somebody was like do it again those are good no he says those ear piercing ones well yeah I probably should have put in this title what we're making is my phone dead yet we're gonna find out tis not tis at 13% yay verily I say unto thee we still have power how about a recipe command oh I don't have any I don't I can't easily do that from this computer in this setup like add commands that would have been a very good idea the the recipe that was in the tweet I think people have been posting it thank you everybody see thank you ma'am uh yeah how much did it want I assumed an entire butternut squash but now I'm wondering if that's not really what we want um okay we're gonna change the title to [Music] I'm doing this preemptively if anybody shows up and tries to use that command I'm so sorry uh oh right I was gonna look at that okay four cups that feels like all of it to me so I'm gonna say it's all of it you're starting to get a little too out of control here I think make your home rules things joke that's the kind of support I need in this check you touch one but yeah for anybody who showed up like a little ways in I actually have or had someone in chat who made this recipe after I tweeted it and said it's [ __ ] dope so I'm so excited I'm so excited how hard is it to my Nana refused to use a peeler for her entire life because she claimed that it was so much easier to just use a knife and like I don't know how true that is but I guess if you used a knife like your whole life it might be right but I feel it yeah that's literally what I was gonna say is that I feel like maybe it depends on what it is that you're feeling like when I was when I was in Ukraine we were making borscht and they didn't have any peelers they were like [ __ ] no use a knife and I was like okay and like peeled a bunch of potatoes with a knife and I was like okay potatoes not too bad but this I don't know like part of me is like yeah that is a lot easier than them but I'm worried that I'm wasting so much squash I don't know [Music] but you know what for peace of mind I feel like this went way faster so I'm just gonna not think about it not gonna think about it I think that was fine I'm excited too Clark is like at an age now where pretty much she can eat nearly anything we could eat like really dense hard stuff she can't eat but like pretty much anything that only takes a little bit of chewing to to get going she's good with which is so fun so I'm gonna make this curry and assuming that it's not too spicy but even then she's had spicy things and like devoured it and I'm like I don't think you should be eating that [Music] but yeah assuming that it's like not too spicy or anything she can have like some chunks of butter nut squash tomorrow and it's fine I assume like we're in such a let's just try stuff stage and she wants to eat everything if we eat it she wants to eat it so badly so I keep I tweeted this but I keep being like okay sure you can try it but you're not gonna like it last thing was vegetable samosas she was like I want it and I was like okay but you're gonna immediately take it out of your mouth and she did not and she wanted more yeah I was like okay the only time with that that I think she regretted it a little bit was there was like a little piece of peppercorn in there that I think she probably bit down on cuz every now and then I was biting down on something where I was like oh that's a little more intense than the rest of the bites were but for the most part I was just like potato and some spices right so there was one point where she bit down and looked at me like what the [ __ ] is going on in my mouth I was like oh yeah oh no I'm the worst mother I shouldn't have given you that [ __ ] and then she was over it not a picky eater no not at all um I guess my friend some friends of mine just had a baby and their poor baby is allergic to everything because I was talking with Jeannie and I was talking about how Clark well again how Clark will just eat anything and and she was like home and it's the opposite for a little Nora and I was like oh is she really picky and she was like no she just she's allergic to everything I can't imagine and that must be so like I feel so bad for the baby I feel bad for my friends or the parents like because a lot of times it's like a lot of times I I feel like just from like talking with other parent friends who have babies that are allergic to foods and things a lot of times the way that you find out is just your baby keeps like spitting up or like spitting up away more than you think they should or like has an upset stomach constantly has gas right like that kind of stuff and you're just like what if you're breastfeeding you're like what do I need to not eat what should I not be eating but like yeah I have one friend who's baby like broke out and stuff it's like Oh God like sure gas and things like that sucks and hopefully you're able to figure out what's what's causing all the like discomfort but if if Clark just suddenly broke out in hives I think I'm freaked out I think it would freak out man like we're going awesome now oh I was allergic to everything there's a baby but now I can eat pretty much anything that's good that's good we're almost done with the squash I'm so [ __ ] delighted I can move on to your wife and you chill things like squeeze the juice out of a lime and great some ginger it's pretty much everything else like scoop out some peanut butter scoop out some curry paste oh darn are taking off by order I became allergic to a bunch of stuff as a teen I think that's so fascinating like sorry not to say that your pain is fascinating my mom has gone through lots of ebbs and flows with her allergies cuz for most of my life she was allergic to everything and she still is but it's pretty minor and there's some stuff where she's like honestly not sure if she can be around it anymore like she doesn't know if her body's like changed again at this point or anything like that it used to be that like she could not be around dogs like it would potentially put her in the hospital and then it turned into well as long as as long as I can immediately wash my hands I'm okay and now it's like I can be around certain types of dogs it's just fascinating how your body will change I was allergic to strawberries as a little kid not anymore but we have like strawberry plants and I would try to help pick strawberries and break out my family was like oh no so yeah no bodies are interesting how did you find out if you're no longer allergic to something um if it wasn't a very bad allergy to begin with a lot of people I think just try a bit you know if they're like I used to used to be kind of allergic to this but maybe I'm not anymore right and it's like safe for them to to experiment for a lot of people it's not safe to just experiment with your own Ehlers he's stupid so sometimes people will some nice people will just get tests done okay the squash is done we did it delightful so now we great now we great I feel like I should use the like itty-bitty side for ginger is it a ginger where they're like don't bother skinning it before you grate it just grate it you should still skin it hey beautiful how are you we're making a curry okay okay I'll skin it just so everybody I've always done the spoon thing even though I don't know that it necessarily is like it's not super time effective I don't think you can grate or peel ginger with a spoon and it pretty much only takes the skin off so you like save a bunch of ginger which is really nice but it's like kind of a pain in the ass man watch your hands it's a spoon it's a spoon it's recommended to skin any roots for sanitary purposes does that make sense [Laughter] oh my god it's a timid off that's really [ __ ] funny it's because sam and i have both streamed from this and so his wow that's really funny it's like when did I turn that on by accident the answer is I was wondering why there's an echo yeah I assumed that was on Sam Street as well since it was his yeah I could grab a smaller spoon but then I'm just like dirtying another spoon I already used this spoon takes time to appreciate the pressure cooker behind Dodger that's what we're using to make the curry yeah I use my instant pot well Sam Sam makes his spaghetti sauce in it now so that's nice because it replaced our slow cooker so even like things need to be slow-cooked the instant pot has a slow cooker setting on it so it's like a 2 and 1 for us but I do many hard-boiled eggs in it [Music] yeah we've done I had a friend come over and he like he did a thing where he like cooked a bunch of stuff in it and then threw it on the grill which was interesting okay I think that's realizing I didn't rinse the butternut squash so I'm gonna do that that's another utensil and the works great okay everything's cleaned out there are instant pot sizes yeah because you can get a say you know it's just you living by yourself versus you with five kids there are different sizes um mine is not the biggest but it's also not the smallest I believe you can get bigger than this but we don't need it so so there's no point mm-hmm I think I have a six as well cuz I think it's a four six and then eight maybe it gets bigger than that I'm not sure record is the smallest six quarters a medium 8 quart is big there's also 10 quart too much that's too much if one day I pop out a million children it may be all upgrade but not not necessary if this makes you feel uneasy it's okay to look away I understand because if I'm being honest this little piece of ginger is very summery so uh I'm gonna be as careful as I can are useless lips I want one of those um there are little dishes that you can get to to basically turn ginger and garlic and things like that into a pace they're literally like little dishes with tiny they're like ceramic with tiny little nubs and you just go like this and it just turns it into a paste I've got I've got like a specific sorry Oh watch my hand I've got like a specific Etsy store that like makes a bunch of them that I keep watching and being like one day one day this is like making it to itty bitty anything it's like a dish with teeth it is it's exactly like a dish with teeth yes [Music] [Music] that'll be faster that'll be faster and I think that's what they want stay away from the teeth I don't want to cut no fingers yeah that's better that's giving us something bunch of ginge do you ever say words and think to yourself is that a dirty word scoobert us out loud and you have to take a moment be like am i just forgetting that that's not a word I should say I said yeah I think because I'm live so often I say things and think to myself is this gonna be clipped is this one of those situations where this is a word that I shouldn't be saying and I'm just forgetting somehow I have times where I say things and wonder if it's a real word or not that's totally fair my dad is the king of just like making words up and it drives my mom insane and when I was younger I started doing it I started just like mixing words together I was apparently supposed to know German instead because apparently in German you can just be like yeah this word and everybody goes right right back at least that's my understanding the like that word doesn't necessarily exist but I can build that word for you when he moved to England you can just pretend they're American words yeah that's how that works it's slang okay what are the first things that need to go into our pot those are our seats this is an instant pot it's a big dish that goes inside freshly washed making this oh I tried to make broccoli cheese soup and it was honestly kind of a bust I still ate all of it and Sam still ate some of it and said it was fine but it wasn't it wasn't like creamy you know you know like when you go and you buy like a broccoli cheese soup from somewhere like if you have Panera near you or anything like that it's always so like creamy I could not get it to be creamy it was like a big bust what's my favorite instant pot dish favorite instant pop dish can't remember all the things that I've tried in this um probably but there's a stew um that's like maybe the best stew I've ever had um that is an instant pot recipe and it takes a little bit longer I think most of the time when people use an instant pot they're like I just want to throw a bunch of [ __ ] in a pot and hit a button and then have food in 20 minutes right which is fair um but this stew like takes a while I can find I can find the recipe when the stream is done and then tweet it just remind me at the end of stream but yeah it's it's so good it just takes a little bit of time but the flavors in it are incredible like it's so good is that how instant pots work so their pressure cookers so they they build up a ton of pressure inside of here I was saying that you can also use them as like slow cookers and stuff the newer ones while the newer ones this one isn't uh only a couple of years old I guess year and a half I haven't had it that long this one has like a saute function which is really nice so if you need to saute anything before you use the slow cooker or use the instant pot it's just a one pan thing which is so nice but yeah it just builds up a bunch of pressure in here and then once the pressure is like fully like at max then it actually like counts down whatever amount of time you put in there so it's whatever amount of time you set on these things [Music] is not including pressure time so for example the best like steaming vegetables sort of thing that I've done using the pressure aspect literally set the timer to zero so it built up pressure and then I immediately depressurized it and it was done and it actually was great it was broccoli and it worked great but yeah it's like there's there's kind of some I don't want to say there's a learning curve but the way that it works is different from anything else that I've ever used I'm like pretty used to it now so even a minute sometimes and stuff turns to mush yeah it's crazy it's crazy so if you're doing a recipe if you're reading a recipe and it says something like the second the timer's up depressurize it's because the longer it's in there it's just gonna keep cooking right so you have a setting here so in the lid on mine anyway mine for some reason has one ceiling and then venting on either side which i think is stupid but whatever so if you haven't set the ceiling then the pressure is like sealed right and then the thing that like really freaks people out when they first use a pressure cooker and instant pot or whatever is if there's a recipe that's like okay the second the timer is up vent it when you hit that steam [ __ ] shoots out of this thing it's like and it's horrifying the first so I put I put a towel on top of it now because it's just it's too much it doesn't scare me anymore it's just like I rather that there wasn't a bunch of steam like getting all over my cupboards and my ceiling and so okay sorry I'm done talking what do we need in here first in the bowl of your slow cooker combine together the curry paste coconut milk broth fish sauce and peanut butter okay so the first things on the list easy-peasy a third of a cup of crazies that's like all of this almost a third of a cup yeah that's like nearly all of this I think four ounces so it would be more than this so maybe like really gonna be any left in there it's a lot of curry paste man but yo I'm following I'm following it whatever it's helped me do I follow jump it just [ __ ] get it in there hope it all a third of a cup should be three tablespoons is that true oh why do I still have that in case y'all need to know breast milk storage guidelines I have a habit as a magnet in my home [Music] finally I know the info you've been needing and will continue five tablespoons see now now I don't know if I can trust y'all it's useful if one is lactating true hmm oh no I'm dropping frames I'm dropping hella frames hold everybody hold back in the green fingers crossed fingers crossed because that's just I'm gonna say like that much I know I said I wanted to follow the recipe exactly and I'm [ __ ] that up literally right off the bat but I do like a lot of curry paste so my curries I make them so I feel like this will be safe for me maybe not for you to just be like me shoot I'm gonna ask Sam if he's dropping frames okay okay so Sam's is perfect which means it's us is there anything doing something weird on here let's just close anything that I'm not using quit that quit that quick dad close OBS I'm not using that right now hmm that's true I'm on Wi-Fi and he's not that could be a difference [Music] [Music] hmm yeah we're just kind of taking a [ __ ] here this is taking way too long which is taking away - oh don't worry about it we're trouble she give a cable that can reach your laptop I'm wondering that I don't think my cable is long enough Sam's is but Sam is easy do they have they have that thing set up now right where you can take the stream down for a minute and then put it back up and it'll just have a screen that says like hold on technical difficulties what I have I have to turn that on don't I I think I did though maybe I did improve the viewing experience for your stream enabling a backup in the event that your stream is disconnected automatically displays a temporary visual to viewers for 90 seconds while you troubleshoot and reconnect this requires the use of a major encoder to work properly I don't know what that means it's OK for a cooking thing ok I'm still gonna I'm gonna take it down for just a second then bring it back up just to see if that fixes it if it doesn't that just means OBS or xsplit oh I'm just gonna turn it on let's just see what happens here okay er back
