ever since the walt's newest most compact and powerful impact driver the dcf a50 made a splash into the tool industry and handily outperformed its predecessor that the wall 887 you'll ask for us to put it up against milwaukee's gen 3 most powerful fuel impact driver and today we have jimmy here hello hello everybody we're gonna give you more of what you want in this epic tool test comparison today [Music] the tail of the tape the atomic 20 volt max quarter inch brushless cordless three-speed impact driver product number dcf 850 p1 runs on the 20 volt max system it has a zero load speed of between zero and thirty two hundred and fifty rpm with up to 3 800 impacts per minute maximum torques 1825 inch pounds it weighs 2.1 pounds it's 3.97 inches in length 8 inches in height its release year was 2021 milwaukee's fuel impact driver product number 285320 runs on the m18 platform has a zero load speed of up to 3 600 rpm and up to 4 300 impacts per minute maximum torque is 2 000 inch pounds weights 2.2 pounds length is 4.59 inches height is 7.54 inches the release year is 2018. so you know what that means jimmy that one's older it's a lot older here's the thing did the wall give this impact driver the torque and technology and compactness to outperform the m18 we want to get your take on this before we get started here i'm going to say first off that i think that will probably reverse engineered everything in this and this is going to blow that out of the water on paper it wouldn't seem that way but i'm thinking that you might be right where a lot of people felt that the milwaukee was so compact and could never get any more comfortable the size of that head look how look how narrow that is i mean that should be able to fit into some decent spaces the only thing i don't like about the design okay is that the battery length actually comes out further than the tool it's funny you mentioned that dewalt has a solution for that problem if you want to see what it is go to this video right here you're going to be shocked matter of fact the tool specifications that you saw today in the tail of the tape might be even more impressive after the new addition to the waltz lineup or their battery platform you're going to want to check that out we're going to do the full gamut of tests but we're going to start out with inch and 5 8 drywall fasteners in speed one we both have a fully charged 5 amp hour battery yes we do tell me when you're ready okay you caught one two three go [Music] so we have the deeperness here the milwaukee handily outperformed i'm thinking that maybe it's the technology and this is a more compact and delicate tool so it's probably engineered for more delicate cabinetry work especially in speed one that's the only time i ever use speed one in my 887 is delicate cabinetry work i'm usually living in speed two i'm ready to live in speed two let's do it one two three go [Music] that was close i don't know you definitely took that one i think the deeperness is pretty close as well yeah it might be a little too deep let's go for speed three one two three go wow that might be a photo finish very close i am noticing one thing the ergonomics of this i'm used to gripping the tool by the moldings the rubber moldings here yes this tool you know in the first test i had my my hand here the last two it's much more comfortable with this flat back going right off the back of this as opposed to holding the mold the rubber molds fair enough what a lot of people don't realize is that three inch drywall fasteners are not made to be driven into three inches of wood it's for securing multiple sheets of drywall into joist studs look if you were doing double layers of five-eighths or something multiple layers for fire rating and sometimes if you had plywood sheathing behind your drywall well here's the thing because of that it takes a tremendous amount of torque to set this fastener into wood so you can tell the difference too just on jobs when you're going through drywall with two layers of 5 8 or if you're going through for like security purposes if they want plywood sheathing or something you could even feel it just through that when you're going through that second layer absolutely all right let's go to speed one i i can't imagine either of these will have much luck driving that fastener but let's give it a try see what it does one two three go [Music] [Applause] [Applause] i think that's it we're gonna bump it up to speed two let's see how they make out in speed two one two three go wow slippy bits you hit it not it must have dewalt took that one probably because of the technology in the atomic it sensed the amount of torque required to set the fastener and not more to where the milwaukee rifter the head it just spun out it came down and just tore the fastener apart i'm i'm liking what i'm saying that would be pretty cool i'm liking what i'm saying from from the wall we're going to speed three one two three go we're going to move on to what's intended to be driven into three inches some water fasteners actual wood fasteners sounds good you know i got to be honest with you this is this test is ridiculous and this proves absolutely nothing we have these t20 bits we have our wood fasteners makes sense yeah makes sense for wood [Applause] one two three go [Music] right right [Applause] all right we're done all right let's move it up to speed two one two three go [Music] let's move it up to speed three [Music] one two three go man i will admit that was pretty darn gone close it was it was very close that was pretty doggone close now we can do a final test in tightening mode in for like metal studs and track oh you don't have that much no i don't have that my fault i think um we should definitely step it up to quarter inch engineered lag fasteners let me help you let's get down the real business these are the tests that separate the men from the boys quarter inch by six inch lag fastener what speed we going in here i i think you just go full bore you want to go speed two i know you you like i live in speed too i'd like to see what it doesn't speed to i don't believe that speed one is even not applicable no i don't think that's but we can do a speed tone one two three go [Music] i don't think anybody would really approach a six inch by quarter inch lag fastener and speed two you you just go full power i mean let's just set it up to three where it belongs [Music] will you have the softer wood over there don't worry about my wood okay what about your own wood okay speed three one two three go [Music] yeah yeah thoughts out yeah i was in a knot let's just check the battery technology i'm still full full i think it's a testament to an impact driver that's years old this is brand new yeah and it's still it's hanging or running in some instances winning and it's not even being an energy hog it's as energy efficient as an impact driver produced in the current year and that thing's been through more fasteners than i can count we have a two pack shaker here of one inch speed dimming speed dimming bits they're brand new so there's no shenanigans being pulled this is where i usually pull away anyway we're gonna run the first test in speed two one two three go told you my hole is definitely cleaner than your hole okay let's pump it up to speed three ready okay it looks like you're awfully close to your hull what are you trying to pull i got at least two inches away from the hole i feel like you're just trying to cheat ready let's go one two three go because nobody is running one inch battle bits in speed 2. nobody speed phrase where you're supposed to run an impact driver full floor all the time no multi modes oh speed 1 speed 2 it's ridiculous you need one speed and here's the control and if you like having control and smash the like button it's free for you to do doesn't cost you a dime you'll get seven years of good luck let us know down in the comment section below what do you think of these the dcf 850 you've ran an 885 and 886 and an 887 yes for years and years and years your first impressions of this tool we'd like to have it this definitely feels more powerful you could feel it especially drilling these spades through i remember when we were doing tests back in the day on the 887 i don't even think it would handle a one inch spade 5 8 is is where the eight we start to smoke them out yeah and we've done that on multiple units now here's the thing we recently ran a tool test comparison with the 850 versus the 887 if you wanted to see the full stats of those two side by side and how they performed you can check out that video over there i do like the ergonomics of this better too but it feels very well balanced it feels very wieldable you know i could see myself being able to work overhead if i was doing you know a ceiling grid or hanging unistrut or something without it being too cumbersome it doesn't feel like it's getting as hot as the other one would normally i don't know if they fix something with the venting or with the fan or something here but it does look like these these vent ports in the back maybe a little bit more open but i can tell you this doesn't feel like it's running as hot does seem to be running much cooler it is a much larger tool they've crammed a whole lot more inside this the wall so this has fins here and here where this is open yeah you can see it all in the back here i think i think i think we can definitely agree that it's it's much improved over its previous generation we appreciate your help proving that out thank you guys for having me we'll see you on the next one video's over but i know you want more so this is how you're going to get it first thing you need to do is pretend you're this guy and you're here in the birthplace of freedom now ring that bell like at 1776 and let all notifications through what you're not subscribed yet we'll smash this button here after that watch this video here here and maybe over here see you later [Music]
