The battery used in the test is a standard battery not a high performance battery.

I wonder How the new 125mm brushless HP stacks against the old 125mm brushless. The latter is marketed as a 11000 rpm device

I hope Ryobi sees this and decides to make some changes for the next version of the brushless grinder. I've actually been using the non-HP brushless version all day today - it's super handy for flap disk usage because it's light and fairly quiet, but at the moment all my cut off disk work is done with a cheap Harbor Freight corded angle grinder - which kicks the crap out of the Ryobi.

I have the brushed and brushless grinders but, not the HP. The brushless grinder stalls much easier under load than the brushed version regardless of battery.

It absolutely sings on hilti batteries though :)

..and so does the blue P501.... and the P262... and the old blue recip.. heh it all sings with hilti batteries. Except the 18Ga brad nailer, it has some sort of precise-timing going on and the extra wattage makes the shot-depth inconsistent

I've got the older, slide switch brushless grinder. And yeah..... I love how handy it is. The power usually adequate, and I probably use it 90% of the time.

But for any kind of serious cutting or grinding that's gonna take more than a few minutes... My $10 walmart 120v version absolutely spanks it

I was just about to post this! Thanks!

The Ridgid really did well. Ryobi really got served on this one. This got me thinking on getting a battery converter from Ryobi to Ridgid if they even exist.

having a cordless angle grinder saves a lot of time so the question is is a 55 fake makita just as good or even better than the real makita and the more expensive brands well let's find out and the first test we'll see which grinder cuts through rebar the fastest then we'll see which angle grinder delivers the most torque so why spend 229 dollars for the real makita when you can just buy a knockoff for only 55. it claims offer low noise and high performance we're gonna test that just like the makita it has a brushless motor three cutting speeds three thousand to eleven thousand rpm longer motor life with no sparks no carbon brushes safer and more durable just like the makita it uses a makita battery the knockoff makita is made in china the knockoff makita weighs 3 pounds 8.9 ounces or 1 616 grams on a fully charged battery the knockoff makita claims up to 11 000 rpm but came up over 2000 rpm short at 8 67 rpm the knockoff makita is pretty loud at 87 decibels let's compare the cutting speed next using this tester i put together everything moves nice and smoothly and i'll level the tools before the testing begins i've already done quite a bit of testing and five pounds of pressure seems like the perfect amount for cutting through half inch rebar the bracket holding the rebar is extremely secure preventing movement to avoid interfering with the test results i'll be using a four and a half inch dewalt cutoff wheel all the batteries are fully charged and the knockoff makita performed better than expected and the motor did not stall with five pounds of pressure on the cutting wheel however the motor is definitely losing a lot of cutting speed through parts of the cut and sounds pretty maxed out and the knockoff makita made the first cut in 10.29 seconds on a second test run the knockoff makita once again lost a lot of rpm under load but the motor did not stall and it was slightly faster at 9.83 seconds on the second cut on the third test run the knockoff makita came very close to stalling about halfway through the cut and the third pass took the longest yet at 11.25 seconds so 10.5 seconds on average for the three cuts at a price of 68 dollars for the grinder the battery and the charger is this work pro brand the kit even comes with five flap discs includes a four amp hour lithium ion battery and a fast charger the work pro has a brushed motor three position anti-slip auxiliary handle increases comfort on the job it claims to have an effective speed of 7 500 rpm the angle grinder is supposed to weigh three and a half pounds without the battery the work pro is made in china the work pro is a little bit lighter than the knockoff makita at three pounds 5.9 ounces or 1 529 grams the work pro claims an effective speed of 7 500 rpm and its no load speed is nearly 8 200 on a fully charged battery the work pro makes quite a bit less noise than the knock off makita at 80 decibels testing the work pro with 5 pounds of force and the work pro quickly threw in the towel after only 1.46 seconds i rotated the rebar 180 degrees for a second attempt once again only 1.46 seconds of work from the work pro before it quit since five pounds is way too much let's try two and a half pounds again this time with a new piece of rebar even with two and a half pounds the work pro was really struggling and the work pro finally made the cut at 30.9 seconds and the work pro was really struggling again and the motor speed slowed down quite a bit on a second cut however the work pro just didn't give up and the work pro was finally finished making the cut in a minute and nine seconds or twice as long as the first cut and a work pro is really struggling on a third cut as the motor is slowing down even more unfortunately at 52 seconds the motor stopped after restarting the grinder four times the work pro finally made the cut at 70 seconds at a price of 99 dollars for just the tool and not the battery and charger is this craftsman brand it claims to have 65 more power brushless motor the blade change tool can be stored inside the handle three different positions for the side handle the guard can be repositioned without tools the craftsman is made in china the craftsman is the heaviest yet at three pounds 10.7 ounces or 1 67 grams and a craftsman claims a minimum speed of 8 000 rpm and came up over a thousand rpm short on a fully charged battery the low rpm craftsman is really loud at 91 decibels from the sound of the electric motor the craftsman grinder seems to be losing a little bit of speed but it seems to be performing a little bit better than the knockoff makita in the work pro and the craftsman just made the fastest cut yet at 9.43 seconds and the craftsman performed even better on the second cut at 9.02 seconds and the third pass with the craftsman is the slowest of the three at 9.63 seconds so the craftsman moves into the lead with an average cut speed of 9.4 seconds at a price of a hundred dollars is this ryobi one plus hp 18 volt brushless motor after 30 faster cutting brushless motor provides up to 9 200 rpm tool-free guard adjustments paddle switch for increased user comfort tool-free removal for quick changes three-position handle for optimal control and versatility their obi is made in china the ryobi is the heaviest yet at three pounds 11.9 ounces or 1 699 grams the ryobi claims 9 200 no-load rpm and came up about 800 rpm short and the robie makes quite a bit less noise than the craftsman at 83 decibels and aerobies electric motor really bogged down under load and nearly stalled trying to make the cut and nairobi really struggled finally finishing the first cut in 16.07 seconds unfortunately roby continued to really struggle on the second cut it really bogged down under load finally making the cut this time slightly faster at 15.87 seconds the third cut for the roby was the slowest of the three at 16.93 seconds for an average cut speed of 16.3 seconds so the craftsman holds onto the lead at 9.3 seconds at a price of 119 for just the tool and not the battery and charger is this rigid octane the no load speed is 10 000 rpm the brushless motor offers up to 40 more power ergonomic slim grip for maximum comfort during extended use led overload protection indicator three handle positions the ridgid is made in vietnam the ridge is the heaviest yet at four pounds 0.5 ounces or 1 830 grams the ridgid claims 10 000 rpm and it came very close topping out at 9862 rpm and the ridgid makes about the same amount of noise as the roby at 84 decimals and the ridgid is performing quite a bit better than the first four brands making extremely quick work of the rebar at only 7.96 seconds very impressive and the ridgid held great blade speed on the second cut doing even better this time at 7.4 seconds and a third cut was just as impressive as the first grinding through the half inch rebar in the same amount of time as the first cut at 7.96 seconds so ridgid takes the lead from the craftsman at 7.8 seconds at a price of 125 dollars for just the tool and not the battery and charger is this bosch brand powerful motor powers through metal masonry and tile flexible power system compatible slim grip design with soft grip maximizes user comfort two different positions for the rubber handle the tool is made in germany the accessories are made in malaysia the bosch weighs 3 pounds 7.3 ounces or 1 570 grams the bosch did better than average topping out at 9032 rpm the bosch is the second loudest yet at 90 decibels and the bosch lost quite a bit of blade speed and it seems to be struggling to keep up near the end of the cut 9.73 seconds on the first cut which is about the same as the craftsman and the motor and the box continue to bog down on the second cut losing quite a bit of blade speed and the bosch is slightly slower this time at 9.78 seconds and the bosch was able to cut the rebar all three times without stalling the third cut is nearly the same as the first two at 9.94 seconds for an average time of 9.8 seconds at a price of 131 dollars for just the tool and not the battery and charger is this metabo hpt i'll be using a 4 amp hour battery and all the tools except for the metabo i was only able to find a 3 amp hour battery at 18 volts up to 9000 no load rpm brushless motor for more run time and durability two different locations for the handle paddle style button battery life indicator and it also has an auto mode during the test will run us at full speed the metabo is made in china the motabo hpt weighs 3 pounds 14.8 ounces or 1 781 grams and the metabo hpt claims 9 000 no-load rpm but it came up over 900 short only making it to 8046. and the matabo makes less noise than average at only 80 decibels with a no-load speed of just over 8 000 rpm the matabo just doesn't spin nearly as fast as some of the other brands and the metabo lost quite a bit of blade speed under load finally making the cut at 10.69 seconds cutting through the rebar is really challenging the metabo and it nearly stalled out midway through the cut 10.54 seconds nearly the same as the first cut the metabolis performing nearly identical to the first two test runs grinding out the third pass at 10.95 seconds at a price of 160 dollars for just the tool and not the battery and charger is this dewalt brand 800 maximum watts out no load speed 9000 rpm it includes a kick brake as well as an e-clutch brushless motor for increased durability and efficiency like several of the other brands the dewalt also has a paddle style trigger an allen wrench is used to change out accessories the dewalt is made in china the dewalt is fairly light at three pounds and 9.7 ounces or 1 642 grams the dewalt claims 9000 rpm but it came up over 1500 short at 7464 rpm the dewalt is just as noisy as the craftsman at 91 decibels even though the dewalt only made it to around 7 500 no load rpm it's really holding blade speed a lot better than most of the other brands and the dewalt performed better than average on the first cut at 9.17 seconds and the dewalt is holding blade speed very well in the second cut and the dewalt performed even better this time at 7.91 seconds which is nearly as fast as the ridgid and the dewalt continues to maintain great blade speed on the third cut and the dewalt finishes the third cut at 8.97 seconds for an average cut speed of 8.7 seconds to move into second place behind the ridgid at a price of 229 dollars for just the tool and not the battery and charger is this makita brand includes a battery life indicator includes a break you can adjust the speed of the grinder with this dial includes a brushless motor you can change the angle of the guard without using tools the handle can be mounted on either side of the tool there are definitely some similarities with the makita as well as a knockoff but there's also quite a few things that are different the makita is made in china and the makita is a heavy shed at four pounds 5.9 ounces or 1 984 grams the makita claims 8 500 rpm but only made it to 7238 on a fully charged battery and the makita is also louder than average at 87 decibels and the makita lost quite a bit of blade speed under load 9.17 seconds on the first pass which is slightly better than average and the makita needs slightly more time to grind through the rebar on the second pass at 9.73 seconds and the makita completed the third pass in the same amount of time as the second pass 9.73 seconds so the makita's average time of 9.5 seconds is good enough to move into fourth place behind the craftsman also at a price of 229 dollars the same price as the makita is this milwaukee m18 fuel the brake will stop the blade in under three seconds we're going to test that generates the equivalent of 13 amps of corded power up to 9000 rpm it has an anti-vibration handle overload protection tool-free accessory change the handle can be mounted on either side of the tool the milwaukee tool is made in vietnam the wrench as well as the guard are made in china and milwaukee is pretty heavy at four pounds point three ounces or two thousand two hundred and twenty one grams and the milwaukee claims up to nine thousand no load rpm and it topped out at eight thousand five hundred and eighty the milwaukee is a little bit louder than the makita at 88 decibels the ridgid produces more no-load rpm than the milwaukee but the waukee is doing a much better job of holding blade speed under load and walkie just made the fastest cut yet at 6.94 seconds very impressive once again the milwaukee is doing a great job of maintaining a high blade speed under load and makes the second cut even faster this time at 6.64 seconds and the milwaukee made the third cut nearly as fast as the second pass at 6.79 seconds for an average cut speed of 6.8 seconds so the milwaukee cayman on top with the fastest 3 cut average of 6.8 seconds the fairly affordable ridgid performed very well at 7.8 seconds dewalt 8.7 craftsman 9.4 and makita 9.5 seconds if two weight is a factor in your purchasing decision the work pro is the lightest at 54 ounces the bosch is nearly as light at 55 ounces knock off makita 57 dewalt 58 and craftsman 59 ounces if tool noise is a factor the tool that makes the least amount of noise is the work pro and the matabo hpt at 80 decibels the robe is at 83 decibels rigid 84 and the knockoff makita 87 decibels an angle grinder that comes to a stop quickly is a great safety feature to have in place and it can actually speed up work progress in some situations with a quarter inch grinding wheel on the knockoff makita the blade came to a stop in 4.35 seconds even though the work pro has a slower no-load rpm than the knock-off makita it actually needed a little bit longer to come to a stop 4.5 seconds the craftsman has the slowest no-load rpm in the lineup and the wheel came to a stop the fastest yet at 2.73 seconds and the ryobi needed over a second longer to come to a stop than the craftsman at right at four seconds the origin not only has the highest no load rpm it also comes to a stop pretty quickly at 3.03 seconds the bosch also spins pretty quickly at over 9000 rpm and it performed fairly well at 3.44 seconds and the metabo spins at just over 8 000 rpm and it took by far the longest to come to a stop at 7.45 seconds which is more than twice as long as the top two leaders and the dewalt comes equipped with a break and it made a huge difference at only 1.31 seconds and the makita performed even better than the dewalt at only 0.8 seconds very impressive and the milwaukee spins over a thousand rpm faster than the dewalt and the makita and it needed a little bit longer to come to a stop 1.56 seconds if you're looking for a tool that comes to a stop quickly the makita is by far the fastest at a very impressive 0.8 seconds the dewalt also performed very well at 1.31 seconds milwaukee 1.56 craftsman 2.73 and rigid 3.03 seconds all the batteries are fully charged so let's kick off our next test to see which angle grinder delivers the most torque i'll be using a quarter inch grinding wheels and i'll use a new wheel with each grinder i'll kick off the test with a 5 pound load and i'll keep adding two and a half pounds and we'll see if any of the grinders can make it all the way to twenty pounds and the knockoff makita held up just fine with five pounds of force so let's try seven and a half pounds and the knockoff makita made very easy work of seven and a half pounds so let's try for ten no problem with ten pounds so let's move on to 12.5 and the knockoff makita barely survived 12.5 pounds of pressure on the blade so let's try 15. unfortunately the knockoff makita couldn't quite handle 15 pounds of pressure and gave up at 2.7 seconds and the work pro barely survived five pounds of pressure with the quarter inch wheel the work pro really struggled in the first round of testing and it really struggled in this round too giving up in less than two seconds with only 7.5 pounds of pressure and a craftsman has progressed all the way up to 15 pounds so let's see how it performs at 17.5 and a craftsman made very easy work of 17.5 pounds so i'm gonna go ahead and stop the test for now fully charge the battery and replace the rebar okay everything's ready to go so let's see how long it'll run at 20 pounds of pressure and the craftsman lost a lot of blade speed but it refused to give up finally finishing the cut at 85 seconds unfortunately the ryobi is bogging down quite a bit at only 7.5 pounds of force but let's just keep going to see how it performs at 10. and the roby threw in the towel pretty quickly at less than two seconds at 10 pounds of pressure the boss survived 10 pounds so let's try 12 and a half and the bosch did just find a 12 and a half pounds so let's move up to 15. unfortunately the bosch only lasted about three seconds before running out of steam at 15 pounds so the bosch and the makita knockoff are tied for second place at 12.5 pounds and the ridgid did a terrific job all the way up through 17.5 pounds so let's try 20 pounds with a new piece of rebar and a fully charged battery and the ridgid seems to just maintain very high rpm under load and finally gave up at 21 seconds so the ridgid and the craftsman are the only two brands to survive the 20 pound test and a metabo made it all the way through 15 pounds and the metabo is really struggling at 17.5 pounds but let's see how it performs at 20. and matava only lasted four seconds before giving up at 20 pounds the dewalt made very easy work of 17.5 pounds so let's see if it can survive 20. and the dewalt lost quite a bit of blade speed under load but it never gave up finally finishing the cut at 65 seconds just like the dewalt the makita has made it all the way to 20 pounds and the battery is fully charged and a new piece of rebar is in place and the makita seems to be holding rpm just as well as the dewalt and the makita made it all the way through the rebar in 35 seconds the milwaukee easily survived all the way up to 20 pounds a new piece of rebar is in place and the battery is fully charged and the milwaukee seems to be maintaining rpm better under load compared to the dewalt and the makita and the milwaukee made it all the way through the rebar in only 14.5 seconds very impressive for those angle grinder jobs that require a lot of pressure an angle grinder needs to be able to make a lot of torque to hold the blade speed only five angle grinders deliver enough torque to survive 20 pounds of pressure for 10 seconds out of the top five brands the milwaukee cut through the rebar the fastest in 14.5 seconds but makita finished in second at 35 dewalt 65 in craftsman 85 seconds and originally gave up at 21 seconds before cutting all the way through the rebar and the knockoff makita actually performed well at 36.5 meters per second squared and the work pro vibrates quite a bit more than the knockoff makita at 62. and the craftsman performed about the same as the work pro at 62. the ryobi vibrates less than the workpro and the craftsman at 49 and the rigid octane performed by far the best yet at only 17.6 and the bosch has a really bad case of the shakes at 109. the metabo hpt performed well at 38 and moves into third place the dewalt vibrates quite a bit more than average at 81 and the makita vibrates more than the knockoff makita at 67 and milwaukee performed better than average at 40. tool vibration can add to user fatigue and the rigid vibrates the least amount at 17.6 meters per second squared the knockoff makita performed fairly well at 36.5 matabo 38 milwaukee 40 and robbie 49. so which brand won the showdown the milwaukee did a great job just blasting through that rebar in a very fast time however 220 is pretty expensive for about half that price though you could have the rigid the ridgid was nearly as fast obviously cost a lot less and performed very well if you don't want to spend that much and you already invested in the makita lineup why not just buy the knockoff makita for around 55 to 60 dollars you can have yourself an angle grinder that does a pretty decent job all the videos in this channel including this one are viewers suggested so if you have a video idea i hope you'll take time to leave a comment thanks so much for watching please take care and look forward to next time
