[Music] [Applause] in construction the laser is primarily a leveling device it may be set up to do elevations direction or both applications of laser levels I use them to align and Plum walls level floors uh check Door and Window Heights I install chair railing and and uh Wayne scotting we do we use it to align shelving cabinets trim sometimes check uh posts and beams on decks and porches masonry alignment sight layout and even slope and grade for drainage it is an invaluable tool we recently took a look at the DeWalt dw088cg it's their self-leveling crossline green l laser Studies have shown that our eyes see green better than any other color both day and night so is green is the green laser better well here are some facts that you may or may not have known regardless or regarding the brightness of um red versus Green Lasers red lasers are more visible in low light conditions the human eye naturally detects green with great ease and allows it to appear brighter to our eyes in conditions and environments with higher ambient or natural light in brighter conditions so we tested the DeWalt laser and in my testing I used my Bosch red laser and it was visible up to about 15 to 20 ft in bright sunlight but you had to struggle to see the line I didn't struggle at all with the green laser in daylight and it really is easier as the light faded the green laser had less of an edge so both I guess I both lasers were very easy to see in low light conditions so the win who wins green or red well daylight visibility is the biggest thing in my book because a lot of times I'm working on decks porches and things like that uh that's said the added brightness of a green laser definitely expands the viability to a broader range of of lighting conditions for me I can use it in more circumstances better so Green Lasers have the win in my book let's talk about the DeWalt features it's a non-nonsense laser there's not a whole lot to this two buttons on and off it has a one meter drop rating comes in a kind of a blow mold case uh if you have the detector which is an accessory it can read up to 165 ft uh with a plus or minus 1/8 of an inch accuracy over 30 ft it's basically without the detector it's good up to 65 ft which is plenty for what I use4 in threaded mount on the bottom and integrated magnetic bracket which has some capabilities to screw to the wall or hang on a hook and a little bit of adjustment with that magnet there is a full-time P pulse mode and it has an IP 54 rating what does that mean right well IP stands for Ingress Protection the two digits represent different forms of En environmental influences meaning the first digit five represents protection against Ingress of solid objects like dust the second digit is protection against Ingress with liquids so the larger the value of the digits the better the protection so for example ip54 rating the five protects against dust Ingress or yeah Ingress and the four protects against Splash so water splashing or liquid splashing from any direction the DeWalt laser has a class two laser classification lasers are classified by safety uh for safety reasons based on the potential for causing injury to humans eyes and skin and a Class 2 Laser's output is below 1 M all Class 2 lasers omit visible light only so it it normally will not harm an eye unless maybe a person deliberately stared into the beam the other thing about class two lasers it's not going to harm your skin and it's certainly not going to burn it's not a material burn hazard which is important on job sites the DeWalt laser comes with a ceiling bracket that easily hangs on acoustical frames as well as some other mounting options and that magnet bracket is adjustable I really liked it the remodeling and construction industry adopted lasers like 20 years ago and a lot of guys are on board with it but a lot of guys have been slow to get on board these days lasers are no longer considered an elite luxury tool you know that only you know you're spending huge money for it's a necessity in the construction industry lasers reduce human error and they increase our time of production in my opinion every contractor should have a laser level at least a basic one and the DeWalt dw088 CG for 200 bucks this self-leveling crossline green laser is an absolute win in my book I'm Rob robard please consider subscribing to this channel just click that button right below we'll see you next time take care
