H ey I'm Alex with tool Rev and today we're  looking at two green lasers from Dewalt the   combination five-spot plus cross line which gives  you an up-down left-right and forward-facing spot   in addition to a forward-facing cross line and  the three times 360 which has no spots. So the   big difference between spots and lines is spots  are highly visible outdoors, well past 100 feet,   where the lines on these disappear after just  a few feet, at which point you'll need a laser   detector. (slow beeps from detector) It's under  it again. And now it's above it with the fast   beeps. So it's impossible to get that thing to  give a solid tone almost. With this one if you   want to check the grade of a hill all you need is  a tape measure or a measuring stick, a grade rod,   to capture the spot. So there it is right there  that's 2 feet 3 inches it's about 30 feet away   so really visible and that's on the white side  of the stick it's more visible on the silver   side. Alright. This is about 130 feet away  and you can see the spot there it's about 11   feet five and a quarter inches. Can you see that?  (female says yep) They both ship in a t stack case   with the exact same accessories you get a 2 amp  hour 12 volt battery and a charger. Both lasers   come permanently mounted on a pivoting bracket  with a 1/4 and a 5/8 inch thread mount and two   strong magnets to suspend the laser to a metal  surface, but only the five spot cross line has   two magnets on the front to hold it flush against  the bottom track of a metal stud wall. The 3x360   really wins with floor and ceiling layout because  you get your 90 degree angles predefined. There's   your lines you can run tile or whatever you have  to do. Where, the combination laser just gives   you one line and then you have a forward facing  in your side spot so if you wanted to mark this   line off and then mark off your forward spot  you're not able to just turn this and then,   you know, line up your second spot where your  first spot was and then use this line because   your whole 90 gets thrown off because as you turn  this your plumb spot moves. And if you look at the   vertical line on the right the 360 line it's much  brighter than the five spot line, which is weird   because the horizontal line if the five spot is  actually brighter than the 360, especially in   brighter conditions. So that's about 30 feet away  to the wall the bottom one's brighter right? (Ya,   this one.) That's the combination laser and I  don't know if you can tell but the three three   by 360 has quite a bit of flicker to it as does  the five spot not as bad but to get rid of the   flicker on the five spot you can add the spots  and then if you add the spots the flicker goes   away but it gets dimmer. And then if you follow it  all the way up you can see the five spot vertical   line is good the 180 fan is good for about a  foot past the plum dot. And then if we look at   the horizontal line about six inches short so it  doesn't quite go all the way 182, you know, left   or right. That doors about 60 feet away and then  if you pull it back and we check out the 180 fan   you can see the combo laser line, the horizontal  line on the top, is only good to about halfway   over that fireplace and the 3x360 obviously goes  all the way around the room. Both lasers are... Dust tight and water jet resistant. Self leveling to plus or minus 4° Accurate to 1/8" per 33' They both come with the ceiling bracket and  this can be clipped to the perimeter wall   angle of a drop ceiling and then you can  use the magnetized target card to stick to   different hanger points of the ceiling grid to  level it out. This can also be flipped upside   down and used on the floor for layout. There's  also extra space in the kit for the grade rod   bracket and the laser detector which you can buy  separately. So I returned the 3 by 360 for myself   I prefer the spot visibility of the combo laser.  The forward spot especially is good for setting   right angles in bright conditions. I also like  the fact that it's a little slimmer than the   3 x 360. I was able to find this old camera bag  and I can just stick it right in here and then   throw it in my tool bag. But if you need 360  full room 360 layout lines the 360 has you   covered. If you get one of these I hope you enjoy  it. Thanks for watching and I'll see you next time.
