owning your own thing like why you know who put you up on that your pop yeah no um that's what we set out to set out to do me and my pops we wanted to be able to control our own destiny you know if no fights happened it wasn't because of of us if if yall look at my career I go from promoter to promoter um Network to network to make the biggest fights happen and get paid the most is you the only one in the game that own at your age maybe Canelo Canelo Anthony Joshua ones that's really knocking knocking off the big money they it's cuz it's cuz they able to to to go to network to network and own their right so you so basically but the youngest but nobody was doing it at 25 ever ever I was the youngest promoter in the game at like 19 20 years old when I was fighting on Showbox So when you say that no cuz I want to get it straight CU me and Gil talk about a lot of that and it seemed like with a lot of Fighters a lot of times it be five six four five people in their pocket ain't nobody in your pocket N N I don't got no in mycket um I'm doing co-promotional deals with with the promoters I'm seeing all the numbers I'm looking at everything um I'm knocking off the money for real you know these guys they they they take a guarantee and they okay with that which is cool I don't got nothing against that that that's that's the you know the the regular way to do it but um no I want to see the numbers I want to see the gate I want to see the how much money the the network is putting up the stuff that these that these Fighters don't know nothing about but that's for me to teach them that's for me to teach the the people before me and and uh after me this major let me ask you a question why is it that because you grew up in a situation where you know your dad had money you know he was able to position you to way though you didn't have to sign to nobody you know because he had the the the the paper you had the the talent yeah and y'all had the structure to to go out there and make it happen on your own why you think that people sometimes try to come at you like y'all did something wrong like like you didn't work for what you had to get like you know well you you know your dad you come from money well that's what your Dad was supposed to do right yeah I mean it was more you know coming from the the knowledge my pop studied the game and he you know he he knew where we wanted to be so it was even you know you can have as as much money in the world but if you ain't got that that game that knowledge um to be able to apply it you know to the sport then it it don't matter um and I'm and I'm the type of fighter I'm fighting everybody I'm fighting the best fighters in the world these dudes don't have the resume that I got so y' can say Where I Come From but just look at my resume look at me actually fighting the best fighters in the world now seen your dad say you know doing sparing Floyd Mayweather was the day he knew that you was the best in the world you know he said you gave Floyd a good old uh Richard Simmons Jane find a workout right and I seen Floyd say something where as though you know he was just coming back or whatever getting you know you know working for uh you know getting ready for a fight and you know I guess you always stay in shape you always ready so was the workout really a workout like did you really work him out near or was associations and nonprofits that got belts all type of people got belts so what is a real chance what belt you got to have how do you how what is a real champ in boxing no I mean you got to had a the the the the major belts the WBC that one the ibf that's the one in ibf the WBA and wbl them is the the top four them is the them is the ones that that make you the the champ the man do you do you cuz all the other all the other belts you know it's like they use those as rankings like a ranking system to you know for you to fight for the big one so that's why it's so many different ones how do you feel about what's going on and just your real feeling is cuz you know boxing is boxing but with these fights outside of boxing that's so big MH is there any is there any fear there or any worry of you know that that becoming more bigger than like boxing uh no I mean I think it's bringing more eyeballs to the sport of box and I ain't I'm not mad at it I feel like you know a guy like Jake Paul he bringing it he brought a different crowd goodan I'm good so I'm I'm not you know worried about it my I got a big enough following where I could even which I wouldn't but or it wouldn't it have to really make sense for me to go like fight a guy like a MMA fighter and bring him over to boxing he would it would just all just have to make sense but right now no because I'm fighting I'm one I'm fighting the best fighters in the world I'm I'm I'm fighting the best let me this question you being 25 years old right you got all the cards you got all the money and boxing you are out of I would say out of all of your peers M you are the most decorated mhm right do you feel as though right now 25 years old being an Undisputed Champion being a two-weight champion do you feel as though you're a Hall of Fame fighter right now yeah I mean I try not to to to think about that too much because you know it's still so much more I want to accomplish and I try not to really you know get too focus on on what I already accomplished cuz I want to just keep you know setting the goal post further and further and further and further so um if if I just said I'm done today will I go to the Hall of Fame 100% okay now with all of your peers I'm talking to tank Davis I'm talking to Shakur Stevenson I'm talking to the Ryan Garcia I'm talking to tiimo Lopez do you think that any of them as far as their accolades and what they accomplished not anything as far as MoneyWise I'm just saying accomplishments in the sport of boxing do you think any of them are Hall of Fame Fighters yet um no I think uh um with the exception of Tio I think Tio I think Tio has has a good resume became that last fight looked a little crazy man I was there yeah last fight I'm just saying T I ain't don't don't don't pull don't step to me cuz your boxes got a habit of stepping to me I know martial art so we ain't changing the sport but that I was in there I'm like I'm like that J was crazy man he wasn't looking that in the 80s you would have loved to fight that was at the top of the game and what boxer in the 90s um I mean I got to go with the you know they say arguably the great greatest lightweight of all time that's Roberto Durant M so I I have to say over sugay Leonard yeah well Sugar Ray Leonard um yeah Marvin but they say the greatest the greatest lightweight would would have been that's lightweight is to the Hall of Fame you saying who you fought who you fought is who has the belts you know what I'm saying like the the the the guys who you fought is the Champions that's what you know determines it somebody like Shakur Stevenson right you can you can understand why he'll be visibly frustrated because he's like Ryan Garcia just made $30 million I'm a silver medalist at the Olympics I feel like I would beat the [ __ ] out of Ryan oh no he will without a doubt but I'm not making that type of money so and and and you'll start to feel like wow you feel what I'm saying but Ryan Garcia got 10 million 12 million 15 million and Shakur might got 1 million so on social so it's a difference is it right I don't think it's right but it's a difference so at the end of the day you got some dudes that's more popular but they ain't accomplished more and it don't be about belts it be about money with the new guy because if I don't never got to fight a champion and I can make $30 million make me $30 million so it's a little different if the tables was turned what would you ever had the money or the belts I mean both at the end of the day you can't no no but you can't feed your family with no with no belt you know at the end of the day I just how to take care of my my family so I feed my family but um you know I'm I want the accolades I want to be a great in the sport I want my name to be remembered with the with the greats and that's why I went down the route that I went and that's why I'm earning the money that I earned because I'm fighting the top guys the best guys in the world I'm putting it all on the line every single time not for the money but for for for the Legacy for my name to be remembered but I'm getting rewarded in the process you got shout out to my man your dad Bill hman how did does it feel to have a dad that's going to the end about you and a which way and I'm talking about his promotional game is like Bill is one of the biggest promoters in boxing right now I don't care what nobody say for sure it's it's a blessing every time and he and he just doing it because he a dad and he you know what I'm saying did this truly how he is this what he this how he feel about me so he he ain't going to let nobody talk bad about me he going to argue you down that's just and that's how most dad's is but just the world doesn't see it he doing it at the at the highest level um he with you know you got five followers and you following 6,000 people who still argue here argue you down just because that's the type of father that he is and that's how most fathers that's how most fathers should be do you think that's do you think growing up you know having your dad in your corner was the key ingredient to you being who you are today 100% well how how important is listening to your father obeying your father taking guidance from your father because we live in a time now where a lot of times you don't see that so how important is that to you and your success and just life yeah I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for my father you know uh my my my pops laid out the blueprint for me and um you know I'm following it I've been following it and and it it got me here it worked uh you know it's it's still working and um I wouldn't want it no other way you know guys they they sit at a father son Duo doesn't work in boxing um and guys get to the top and then they seem to fall out when they start getting some money or run when it get some some fame or whatever but with us we it it only made us closer it only it only it only makes us better you know that we achieving our goals and our our Milestones how did you feel when you seen Bernard go through that little tobacco with your dad I ain't going to lie I was pissed off I was pissed off I I ain't like that [ __ ] at all but um I mean my my pops can definitely handle itself obviously um but you know I was pissed off I I I didn't like the way that that situation went and I was supposed to go with him but um I was in LA so I ain't go but um I wish I was there yeah I thought it was a little yeah it was just it was just some it was some corny [ __ ] it was just corny Ard my man but I I got I thought it was some corny [ __ ] yeah it was just it it was just corny I just think you know at that at the age that bill and nard is at you know like come on man what what we doing like we we going to the doing my thing from one to five what promoters would you recommend that I get with um to get some money no order right just just I'm talking about to get with get some money it ain't going to play no still got to be you know it got to be worth it they're not going to just co-promote with any you know Joe Blow but um no for sure I mean if you demand that you demand that listen this what I want to do I want to do a co-promotional deal um I don't want to sign over all my all my everything to you I want I want to you know have some say in my career then yeah you know definitely I and that was the plan to inspire the people before me and after me to to that this is the new way to do it this the the dev Haney way what what other Fighters is doing the co-promotion like you um maybe Anthony Joshua is doing it um a little bit um I would say Canelo Crawford maybe N I don't think Bud doing it I don't think Bud doing it because everybody that got their name out there NE like just cuz they say they got you know they got whatever whatever promotions they whatever their name is mean they really they they just using that to make it look good but you they really seeing the numbers they really you know um I think Bud might have did it for the Earl fight but I'm not sure um they're not no real promoters they just be talking like talking like that but they I'm I'm really seeing them numbers I'm really you know uh having saying what's going on in them contracts how does a Ryan Garcia Devin Haney Ryan Garcia fight in April 20th Ryan Garcia is a a c-level fighter you know he's mediocre he got a big oh he's C Level yeah damn yeah I mean he's he got a big name but you know I'm a A+ fighter and um it's a mismatch you know I'm levels above this guy but he got a big name people want to see it they demanding it and uh I'm going go in there and beat him down I'm going I'm going to show him that it's just I'm just on a totally different level I'm just way better and I'm going step on him crush him is he getting knocked out yeah I think so uh we we seen Ryan be very aggressive he's you know he get overly aggressive he make a lot of mistakes we've been studying him um we we ready for all that and uh I think the night will end early I think I knock him out for sure how does it feel you're going to New York Bright Lights Stars I'm talking about I'm talking about you know Alicia Key said you know them Bright Lights inspire you you going to I'm talking about man it's is going down in New York City how do that feel for you like this is the big stage this is the moment every I'm
