greetings from Denver Colorado Denver is the capital of Colorado and also known as the mile high city it has a thriving culture scene diverse neighborhoods and is a foodie Mecca all with the backdrop of the beautiful Rocky Mountains in this one day travel guide I'll be sharing some of the best things to do eat and see in downtown Denver and if you're new here my name is Jeannie I live in Colorado and I share all sorts of Colorado travel guides and outdoor activities on my channel so be sure to subscribe and follow along so you don't miss out so just like so many other amazing cities in the USA Denver is one that needs to be explored there's a lot of gems here and we're only spending one day here but we'll be seeing so much and see all the sights of downtown Denver so with that said let's get started [Music] so our very first stop here in Denver is the Rhino District so Denver is very much known for the murals they have over a hundred different murals in their downtown area we're obviously not seeing all those murals today but there is a rhino alley that you can walk through on 26th and Larimer so we're gonna walk around and check out the art here because this is such a cool area to see the Rhino district has a unique blend of urban charm and unique industrial Vibes mixed with some of the most impressive murals created by many local artists right here in Colorado Lonely Planet names A River North one of the top 10 neighborhoods to visit in the USA and it's about 8 30 I think in the morning so it's super quiet right now it's not full there's a lot of restaurants and stuff in this area so if you want to come and like really see the murals before the restaurants open up come early in the morning because there's literally nobody on these alleys right now it's so cool and if you visit rhinoartsdistrict.org you can find a complete interact of map and guide to other murals in Denver's Rhino District [Music] so we're at our next stop we are at the Colorado State Capitol and fun fact we're known as the mile high city and the state capitol was built one mile above sea level the state capital is the beginning of Capitol Hill district and sits slightly higher than the rest of downtown Denver if you climb the stairs to the 15th step you'll find it engraved as one mile above sea level but as technology has improved over the years a more accurate measurement was retaken in 2003 and they found that the 13th Step is actually one mile high and then from the top of the steps here you can get really cool views of the Civic Center and the Rocky Mountains in the distance so I feel like kind of the Hub of downtown Denver is Union Station it's like you're a good starting point to just go up and explore so that's where we are now we're at Union Station this 100 year old Historic Landmark is in the heart of Denver and not only does it offer a variety of public transit and a rail station it also offers a variety of dining bars and unique shopping it's a beautiful historic building inside and out and it's definitely the Crown Jewel of the City Denver also has an amazing foodie scene so it was very hard to pick out where we wanted to eat but we decided we're going to go to snooze for breakfast here in Union Station foreign [Music] [Music] which is strawberry pineapple upside down and then pumpkin spice with some eggs and ham and Vince got a Benedict it looks so good thank you foreign [Music] so we completely indulged Hat's news it was so good the pancakes were so awesome to have like a flight of three different kinds so good so we were hoping to spend a little more time down in Union Station but we're just gonna pull back because we have tickets to the immersive Van Gogh experience which I'm so excited to try so it's kind of a mix of like real life slash virtual reality of Vincent Van Gogh's paintings so this is something I have absolutely never done and I thought it'd be really cool to check it out since they have one here in Denver um so yeah we're here now so let's go see what this immersive experience is like as you enter the exhibit a treat for your senses awaits it encompasses the experience of art light sound movement and Imagination to bring you into some of Vincent Van Gogh's the most famous works of art most people will probably spend 30 to 60 Minutes inside the exhibit to take it all in but there's two different rooms and each provide a slightly different experience the first room you enter is smaller with more reflective surfaces but the second larger room is filled with sand on the floor and the art reflects off the walls and the floor this [Music] is okay you guys seriously that was the coolest thing we love that didn't we that was really cool that was really cool so they kind of go in and out every maybe two to three months of the different like artists that they put up on the screen um so yeah like right now it was Van Gogh and then they also have King Tut like later this afternoon and then like next month they're gonna start with a nutcracker and kind of get that Christmas theme going um so you just kind of have to watch to see because they kind of switch out the different um you know art and scenes and whatnot so I'm really cool and we got some free uh kefir they gave us and a free poster so we're gonna enjoy some bananas strawberry smoothies and check out our poster but if you've never done that definitely try it but it's very cool experience highly recommend they have locations all over the United States and of course Denver is one of them all right so we just came back to our room really quick just to kind of freshen up for the rest of our day here and I figured this would be a perfect opportunity to tell you where we're staying here in Denver we are staying at the cat bird Hotel here it is such a cool Vibe so we actually just had it last night got into our room you guys this is one of the coolest rooms we've ever stayed in so they have a fridge a freezer a dishwasher a desk platform bed and the coolest thing is they have a projector screen TV so last night we were watching movies on the projector screen big screen TV theater it was so cool and they also have a rooftop bar that has some of like the best views of Denver so we went and grabbed some apps last night and then grab some drinks and don't even get me started about their lobby area that has my name written all over it it's the vibe with all the plants and unique furniture think they killed it here it's such a cozy hotel with such like a cool hip Vibe if you're looking for a place to stay I highly recommend this hotel it's it's really cool really great Vibe and since it's Central to Denver you have easy access to a lot of different areas so a big shout out to a cat bird hotel for collaborating with me on this Vlog and for hosting our stay here with this weekend [Music] all right we just got back downtown here in Denver so right down from Union Station is the Denver Dairy Block it's kind of one of those little areas too that's really unique um and definitely something we want to check out here located on 18th Street and Wazee street is where you'll find the Denver milk market and dairy Block it's a unique micro District in the heart of Denver's lower downtown neighborhood and it was once home to Windsor Dairy today the milk Market is a foodie Paradise mixed with a variety of takeaway and dine-in restaurants and bars in a foodie Market haul concept and it also has a variety of different markets and unique local stores once you head outside to the dairy block you'll find one of the most trendy and instagramable Alley is in Denver gotta come here if you're in Denver like this is a must do this is so cool it's filled with string lights art retail shops and a variety of restaurants with outdoor seating it's seriously one of the cutest alleys I've ever seen such a cool place with a little Alleyway then they got the inside area with print shopping dining it's like a big food market it's really cool really cool experience [Music] and now we're heading to Larimer Square so Denver has like tiny little pockets of like just cool little areas like Union Station the dairy block now we're heading to Larimer Square that's another cool one so excited to check that one out to find Larimer Square just look for the string lights and Colorado flags hanging at the end of Larimer Street this is the oldest commercial Block in Denver developed in 1858 and has history dating back to the Gold Rush it's now home to several highly rated restaurant and retail shops so they have a Champagne Lounge here in Larimer Square so we're gonna pop in and give it a try foreign [Music] so I got a Hawaiian Mimosa which is basically a mimosa but with pineapple juice and then Vince got a Stella beer and it kind of has like a pina colada too so pineapple pina colada mimosa this is my first time for a shampoo bar it won't be in the last this is great [Music] all right so I just got a peach champagne now Hawaiian Peach very good all right Corridor 44 Champagne Lounge Bar so good but now it's time to eat we need to get some food in us um so we decided we're gonna go out for seafood tonight and we're gonna go to the Water Grill for dinner here in Canada Watergirl is a romantic and classy style restaurant with friendly service from the moment you walk in there are menu features first of the Season Seafood where their Seafood is flown in Daily from California this is like the restaurant I've ever rented in my life it's so beautiful and designed so well it's lovely so we're starting with appetizers and I decided to get a Tyron sushi roll and fins got some oysters last time we've had oysters it was when we went to Maine so we're like we gotta try them here [Music] flavor but we have a list of all the oysters Cheers Cheers oysters is it good are they better than the ones in Maine they're really good so I'm gonna have a Pacific kiss from British Columbia [Music] but actually I do think I like this one better my favorite really good flavor right yeah these are really good our meal just came oh my gosh so I got the scallops and some clam chowder and Finn's got a California spiny Lobster a pound and a half with some mac and cheese oh my gosh this is like seafood heaven so my favorite Seafood discounts like I love scallops they're so good so and I saw this obviously to see the restaurant I'm getting it oh my gosh that's half they have on this it's really good really good scale it was really good it's crazy it's a very very quality with high quality seafood excellent staff and a beautiful Ambiance Water Grill definitely took Seafood dining to the next level all right we just left water girl oh my gosh that was a meal we'll never forget it was really really good really great Seafood definitely definitely gonna go back again another day so if you're looking for a really nice dinner option for some seafood highly recommend Watergirl for sure we wanted to come back to Larimer Square to see it at night with all the string lights so we're back in there my spirit just to see it look at this you guys they have like a DJ set up [Music] the party down here this is so fun all right so our plan in Larimer Square was to also go to an underground Speakeasy called the green Russell but time literally got away from us because we bought tickets for a show tonight at the Marquee Theater down here in downtown Denver we're going to the dangerous summer I think we have no idea who they are it's just they have like 20 tickets to a show like what a fun thing to do on a Saturday night in downtown Denver and that's what we're doing so we don't have time to go to the Speakeasy um but definitely check it out it looks cool foreign [Applause] theater is an intimate concert venue featuring everything from local bands to nationally touring acts I love smaller concert venues like this as the connection between the audience and artists is very intimate and there's no rail so you can literally get right up next to the artists it didn't feel crowded at all so it was very comfortable and we had a wonderful experience it was a perfect nightlife activity and we'll definitely be back foreign guys so we had a great night last night at the Marquee Theater I love seeing and experiencing those little small concert venues get really close up to the bands if we don't know the bands but it's so fun they do such a good job and they put so much work into their performance and just making sure they really get the crowd moving and they definitely did that was that was awesome I'm definitely going to be heading back there for another concert Sunday but that's a wrap on our one day in downtown Denver now just know we just scratched the surface on Denver in general um this was specific to more downtown I'm definitely going to be coming back to do more Vlogs on Denver itself even though I live here in Colorado I was really surprised at the feelings I got of downtown Denver I totally loved it I love being able to check out all the different areas and how every area has its own Vibe its own uniqueness it's just it really is a gem down here and I just I really enjoy enjoyed our time down here now if you're visiting Colorado and you're looking for more things to do in Colorado definitely check out my YouTube channel for more I have
