Shalom Aleichem my dear brothers and sisters one of my viewers asked me to demonstrate a prayer meaning how do the Jews pray so this is exactly what I'm gonna do right now I want to demonstrate a prayer and and instead of reading it in Hebrew which not many of you would understand I decided to translate the whole thing to English I'm gonna read from a translation so that you would understand exactly what I'm asking during the prayers however the procedure is gonna be the same and we're gonna bow down and you know in certain places and you know take three steps so all that stays the same the only thing I'm going to change is instead of Hebrew I'm gonna say it in English now as you probably already know because I've mentioned this in my previous videos that as Jews we are commanded not to pronounce God's name in vain so since I have already prayed this evening I'm gonna replace God's name with the word Hashem meaning the name so that I'm not actually gonna pronounce God's name in Hebrew because I'm not really praying right now I'm just demonstrating it and to give you a little bit of background the prayer the words of the prayer were established by the Sanhedrin which was the great Court which was composed of 120 sages or rabbis and many of them were prophets and they're the ones who composed the text of the prayer total of 19 blessings now this is the prayer that we as Jews say three times a day now however during morning prayer this prayer of nineteen blessings is surrounded by different types of Psalms and songs and praises to God all of them are intended to arouse our intent and arouse our concentration during this prayer so the total service for the morning takes about for the weekday morning takes about 45 minutes or so in the afternoon we have this prayer that the 19 blessings plus we have one before and one after prays so it takes about 15 minutes or so and then in the evening also takes about 15 minutes we have the schwa and then we have this again 19 blessings and a little conclusion after that here in this video I'm only going to demonstrate the 19 blessing prayer which is really the main focus that we have during our three daily prayers and since most Orthodox Jews when before they would pray they would actually put up put on a jacket that you know cowers like the elbows and everything so that it is modest and so that we are you know look decent in front of before approaching God so so therefore I'm gonna do the same thing I'm gonna put on a jacket so that you know so that the prayer looks as realistic as you would see it probably in the synagogue and after I'm done with the prayer you know and after you watch this video if you have specific questions about certain words of the prayer or you know why this is this thing is mentioned or why this thing is mentioned please comment and I do the best of my ability I can try to answer although you know not always I will have probably the answer exactly why you know you know certain things are asked here certain things are asked there but this is the prayer that our ancestors passed down to us and what's actually interesting is that the Jews from all over the world whether in Europe or in Yemen or in Middle East anywhere from Africa India even though this prayer was it's really part of the oral tradition you know it's not something in the written Torah or in the Tanakh but it's interesting that until today this prayer pretty much was passed accurately by all the convent by all the different communities and it's pretty much the same there's slightly sometimes difference a little bit in the words in the grammar sometimes but that's overall it's pretty much the same nineteen blessings that are being said by Jews all over the world no matter what where they come from so here's a prayer Hashem opened my lips so that my mouth may relate your praise blessed are You Hashem our God God of our forefathers God of Abraham God of its hug god of Yaakov God great powerful and awesome supreme God who bestows good kindness possesses everything and recalls the kindness of the patriarchs and brings a redeemer to their descendants for the sake of his name with love
