DELICIOUS Tofu Scrambled Egg Recipe! (100% Vegan)

[Music] hey guys welcome back to the plant-based kitchen where we cook delicious plant-based food that does not taste plant-based so today along that thread we are going to make tofu scrambled eggs yes you heard me right we are going to make tofu taste like delicious scrambled eggs now i loved scrambled eggs before i went plant-based i just can't eat them anymore because they hurt my stomach so i've tried out a few different recipes along the way to try to get them to taste as close to eggs as possible and i think i finally hit the nail on the head with this recipe so check it out in the card below it's gonna take only three ingredients well i guess four including the oil we have some nutritional yeast garlic powder salt the tofu and some oil so the nutritional yeast is a huge piece of this recipe if you guys don't know what this is check it out on amazon i've linked it for you below it actually makes all of the difference in the world for this recipe and it is the sneaky key secret ingredient so with that being said we're just gonna pretty much toss all this together in the skillet and get started so step one we have our tofu here now you need to press all of the water out of this tofu i've linked a card above for you that'll teach you how to press all the water out of your tofu using a tofu press and if you don't have a tofu press what you can do so again step one press out all the water so step two we're going to jump straight into cooking so take your olive oil and put about a tablespoon worth of olive oil in to your skillet and then to make this super simple i literally just take my fingers and crumble in you hear that already crumble in the tofu that way you don't have to waste time mushing it up in a bowl or whatever i mean you absolutely can if you want to but to me this is just really easy then just add in all of your ingredients so let's do about a tablespoon and a half to two tablespoons of nutritional yeast about a tablespoon of garlic powder and a couple healthy pinches of salt then next just go ahead and mix that all together now if the tofu needs to be broken down a little bit more because you have some larger chunks you can just chop it a little bit more with your spoon and i like to leave it cooking here for i don't know probably like three minutes or so just to kind of cook the remaining water and moisture out of the tofu just so it gets a little bit more firm and it mimics the texture of cooked eggs a little bit more so if you're asking yourself why are we adding nutritional yeast what even is that what it is is it obviously has a little bit of extra nutrients in it but um the flavoring is kind of mimics like a cheesy flavor and i actually feel like it uh it adds a huge depth of flavor into the tofu and makes it taste a lot more like eggs than just adding like salt and onion powder on its own so as you're tossing this around in the skillet i like to put it on like a medium to medium-high heat you can see that it starts to break down a little bit more and resemble the texture of eggs and that is about when you know that it's ready no matter how simple the recipe i always tell you guys to taste everything so go ahead and give it a quick taste it's actually really good i feel like i want to pitch more salt you can add pepper as well i usually like to add pepper with my eggs sometimes i do sometimes i don't depending on the recipe but feel free to add some more pepper a little bit more salt if you want some more nutritional yeast you can experiment with that but this is super delicious and ready to go now i do have another secret weapon for you i don't know if you guys are familiar with tumeric but it's an indian spice and it's yellow so if you're looking at this and you're like that looks weird these eggs aren't yellow this tastes delicious and tastes so much like scrambled eggs but if you want them to be a little bit more yellow go ahead and add maybe like half a tablespoon worth of turmeric in there just enough to mix this in you can see already your eggs are starting to turn nice and yellow so that's a little secret weapon if you really want these to look like eggs turmeric will do the trick for you [Music] so there you have it delicious plant-based tofu scrambled eggs looks just like eggs tastes just like eggs i cannot wait for you to try this let me know in the comments below how it goes for you if you have any questions i will be there to answer them for you so if you want any great ideas of what to cook with this recipe you can click or tap the screen to check them out thanks so much for watching a goodbye you
