all right everyone I am in Del Rio Texas uh Bordertown you're looking at the uh where you're looking at border fence first of all and that is the uh international bridge that goes over to Acuna or ciudad Acuna on the Mexican side uh you can see I'm right here I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to get any closer I want to get out here and just take a look you may remember the uh incident with the Haitians who were under a bridge for a while and of course the uh border patrol on horseback that whole incident where they were supposedly whipping them which was since debunked anyway straight that way that's where that happened I was hoping I could get down there I'll zoom in a little yeah you see the bridge crosses the river there that's where they were um I don't know if the general public can cross into this area I will try but I'm just going to check it out here because wow it looks pretty bad um Carlos Grocery and meat market looks like there's a gas station here in front of it it is clearly long gone see all that trial or trash piled up over there I'll walk over there in a second there's what looks like what was at one time a home right over here and there's just nothing left uh 26 25 the mailbox says but yeah I'll walk in here looks like a carport no one lives here that is obvious all right look at this it's just a bunch of piled up trash now uh there's a swing that kids would play on I would guess so whoever lived here had a family yeah but uh it's uh totally abandoned now and there's a trailer back here also no one lives in that at least I don't think they do let's hope not and I'll walk over here uh check out grocery store yeah they had barbecue at uh one time or another anyway I'm gonna head over here yeah just a bunch of trash piled up old TV thank you wow it's pretty bad here isn't it look at all this just piled up trash and debris just left here at Carlo's Grocery you wonder what this looked like back when when it was open and operational jeez that's something isn't it let me head over here I mean look at this it's unreal this huge big pile of trash just sitting here at the side of the road man I guess that used to be a gas station a lot of traffic here trucks going up and down the road here all the time but uh another look at the border fence look at all this wow yeah this was a gas station huh this looks like a either a dog house at one time or a place for kids to play just sitting here amongst all this Rubble foreign places like this for me living in Suburban Dallas because an area like this it just wouldn't be tolerated you can't have it but here it is no problem here I walk up a little bit farther see what else is here yeah this was a store at some time this is where you would park your car I'm gonna cruise down the road here a distance see what I can find I would love to go over there and go to the uh banks of the Rio Grande but I don't think I'm going to be able to get there so let's see what's up here yeah there's a road that goes into this area uh closed off though yeah city of Del Rio International Bridge over to Acuna yeah no trespassing secured area so they just don't let uh the public go in there anymore anyway get back to the Bronco look at these power lines looks a little haphazard what do you think the wires hanging huh I'm gonna get back on Frontera Road so I'll show you where I'm at you can see the Mexican border and the Rio Grande to the left there a lot of green area in between like I said doesn't look like I can get there but it looks like it tightens up here so uh I'm gonna drive this way see if there's a way to get in there it's not looking good though they've really got Del Rio blocked off can understand why uh I was reading that an average of I think it was 1400 people a day cross over in this area so I guess that's why they've got it pretty tightly blocked off and you can see the fence there no haphazard fence in this part of the uh border that's pretty solid well I haven't went very much farther from where I just was it looks a little bit different here let's see what's going on I'm gonna pull in here this is a gate let's see hmm let's see what's up here now the fence looks like it's needs buttressing it's what it looks like it's it's leaning in a couple places and this looks interesting up here go check this out we've got look what looks like a section of Border fence kind of sitting here by itself and it's a lot it's a lot higher going this way hmm yeah I've got a gate here I'm guessing uh this is a section of prototype fence that uh Trump had built so is that right what do you guys think because you've got the regular fence here then you just got this section that is just setting here not really doing anything but uh existing huh yeah I'm still on this road here um back out on the road let's check this out now I'm gonna go up here and check this area out yeah that's what it looks like doesn't it that was just uh prototype fence built I mean that's got to be what it is like there's a little tiny piece right there and there's more over here I'm gonna drive over there and look well looks like uh yeah there's four or what do you call it uh National Guard there or at least there's a truck and it's important pot and the road just ends but yeah that's just a big section of really tall border fence and uh sitting here by itself and yeah those National Guard guys there there's a little tent on the other side of that truck so uh they're here in this spot interesting okay well there you go I'm going to uh go check out a couple other places I'm on Vega Verde Road uh yeah you can see it here it goes to here so I'm going to head I'm gonna head to that spot see what it looks like it's right on the Rio Grande there I am on cyanagus Road at the moment see I am heading right for the Border uh yeah curious to see what it looks like all right I'm back on Vegas day now all right yeah you can see that interestingly there's homes here on the other side and uh the river's just right there could just almost see it yeah see there you can see some Bluffs there and the river's below it looks like it's probably really beautiful there and uh anyway you can see the fence here is on the other side I I don't see the point in this fence right here I really don't because you can just drive right up here the countryside is gorgeous here there's the Mexican side the Hills uh it's really nice looking oh yeah I'll show you where I'm at here I'm just right driving right along oh wow that's here what do you want to bet I can see the River from here what do you guys think I'm gonna go check it out let's go see yeah we've got all this fence here but you can drive a car right in here yeah there it is the river can go right up to it here let's go check it out what do you think for the most part Del Rio has been buttoned up pretty tight but um doesn't look like it here yeah there she is the Rio Grande the Rio Grande the Grand River ah look at that look over here we got some uh guys on the Mexican side looks like they're fishing what do you think they're fishing over there looks like it you can see a trail that comes down to the river right there and I got to tell you I'm looking at the river it's pretty slow moving here this would be a real easy place a really easy place to get across just get your rubber you know one of those rubber rafts inflatable rafts get in right over there and the river will just take you right here up onto the banks and to the road you can see the Bronco right there how about that uh it sure is beautiful here though the Mexican side is really beautiful without the heels huh the water's really clear awesome well um I'm going to head back towards Del Rio and see if I can uh get over to the other side of that bridge uh see what's over there I'm approaching the the other side of the bridge I'm already hitting fence and National Guard right there hmm I'll show you where I'm at yeah heading towards that international bridge from the other side but again uh it's buttoned up pretty tight around the town here pretty solid looking fence you see those white buildings in the distance that's uh Acuna it's in Mexico and you've got you know some homes and businesses here on this side uh the mission defe Faith Mission Faith Mission hmm yeah I'm approaching the bridge now from this I guess you could say the south side and it's more the same not going to get very close yeah so there's the uh spots where you enter and go through customs yeah you can see that remember that city of Del Rio sign that I showed you from the other side yeah there it is right there yeah so I am directly on the other side and this is this seems to be as close as I can get hmm well I'm going to uh like before I'm gonna go down the road a little ways and see if there are any spots to get to the river so I'm gonna head this way now see what we can find I am on guyler Road um here I'll show you see me there on the top and guyler road goes straight down to the Border there it's the only place I could or only Road I could find that does that hmm doesn't look like I'm going to get any farther though I am seeing a fence so this may be it yeah cause this is the only Road I could see that goes to the Rio Grande yeah what do we got here well let's uh it's got a lock on it remember Texas sheep goat razors Strode must be private property all right so yeah that's it uh I'm going to head to downtown Del Rio now and when I get there I'm going to tell you about this small City I am in downtown Del Rio now Humphrey's Gun Shop doesn't look like a gun shop does it well so I'm gonna head in here take a look around and tell you about the city I'm in the city center of Del Rio now it's pretty quaint looking but anyway as I uh walk through downtown I'm going to tell you about this small order City um 2020 the population was 34 700. a little bit bigger than Eagle Pass down the road uh poverty rate it's 20.3 percent that's a little high U.S average is 11.4 the per capita income is twenty thousand four hundred and a median household income is forty five thousand six hundred um sixty seven thousand is a U.S average so it's definitely lower again I like all these other border towns that I have uh been through crime is low uh the crime rate is 17.9 [Music] per 1000 that is less than half the US look at that old Rexall sign you know you could pull that off that wall take it up to Dallas and put it in a antique shop and get 500 for that easily that would look great in any man's man cave especially if you could fix that Neon anyway back to what I was talking about just love that old stuff like that old signs like that uh homes are inexpensive here realtor.com pegs them the average home at 253 300. 0 is a little lower Zillow has the average home here 170 400. uh it's pretty cheap to rent one bedroom will run you about 7 15 on average a two bedroom 845 and a three bedroom apartment to rent or house we'll run you 9.75. that's low I'm in a three bedroom for under a thousand a month [Music] yeah that's really cheap anyway I'm gonna head down here see what I can see give you a look at everything it's a beautiful day um we're still in the first week of October this is a Wednesday or is it a Thursday you know I can't keep track it's Wednesday or Thursday it's about geez 11 in the morning wow that's a beautiful day though mid 70s the mess isn't it um supposed to hit around 88 today so the weather is still pretty warm even though we're into the first week of October anyway I'm just gonna kind of walk it down or walk down the street here there are some empty buildings but the great majority of them have some small shops that kind of thing he only seeing small town downtown [Music] I mean it's closed up but I really like that sign Texas gifts and novelties three Gallows Navidad so everything in Spanish and English both interesting and another building that's been torn out except for the facade across the street here this is interesting here this is blacks something shop horse leads me to believe that had something to do with the care of horses at one time uh yeah it just looks largely abandoned now that's Main Street I was just on huh I'm not sure yeah this is the alley behind Main Street oh it's pretty quiet Paul Pogue theater that looks freshly painted with the Marquee it's not in good shape and then this Tiffany warehouse furniture I love that sign that is awesome this structure is definitely worth a look this is the valve for the day County Courthouse yeah look at that it has built in 1887. look at the octagonal Corner turrets on each side all four sides have them uh yeah makes it look like a castle it's a great building yeah beautiful there is a church over here it looks pretty amazing too I'm gonna go over there and look at that yeah this is really interesting looking this is impressive this is to the side of the church and it's right here uh okay so I had a Immaculata Concepcion there you go um yeah this is an outdoor pulpit can you see this wow I got a mechanic Pringles waiting to snack on a little cross behind it I sure what that's all about yeah here's his puppet and he can preach to the congregation sitting on these steps you gotta admit that is pretty dang cool this is the end of this part of the video in fact it's the end of the video but wait hang on I've got a little bonus footage another little town way out in the middle of nowhere here in Texas so uh hang on or hang tight for that all right everyone I am in Brackettville Texas uh this town is in the middle of nowhere it's got about 1700 people I'm just fascinated by the idea of this place because the people who live here what do they do there can't be enough jobs here I guess there is that is a really cool looking courthouse though you gotta admit for a little town in the middle of absolutely nowhere well take a look at a neighborhood or two interesting storefronts here hmm I'm gonna head this way look at this wow there's a little shed there looks like nature is well on its way to swallowing that up hmm I'm thinking that at one time bracket feel had more people than it does now interesting a lot of abandoned places here but there are people living here yeah I don't know if anybody lives there I got a Cadillac in the yard old old trailer uh we have some goats here just wandering around the road like they own the place yeah there he is like yeah that's my road buddy what you think you wanna you wanna drive on this road here this is our town look at him he's just eyeballing me goats running around town loose only in very rural Texas honestly okay well I don't know what else to say I guess I'll let them let them have the road every look there's interesting homesteads I mean this town could almost get a video of its own and look at all this huh we got here wow yeah that'll be the end of this video um gonna go to San Angelo Texas next then after that we will be heading to uh Louisiana Mississippi uh what Alabama Georgia going to find a bunch of a little far off the interstate uh cities and towns there and explore those plus there'll be some big towns Gulfport Biloxi mobile so that's all or that's what's all coming up next so be looking for those uh what is it I don't know uh it's a ball a ball on a platform in the middle of nowhere Texas if anybody knows what that is be sure to comment and let us know
