Deception in the Church - Part 1 - Doctrines of Demons

all right good morning very glad you could you know plan in your busy Saturday morning to be here the series that we're going to do is called deception in the church but much wider than that I actually call it as a subtitle a web of lies because in the series I will I will address quite a number of topics and that would include not just things like the five movement or the New Apostolic Reformation but things like the New Age false religions secular humanism and and and a number of diverse topics to the extent that this will be 50 lectures when we are finished with it right today however we are going to start at the basics the first questions we need to ask and the warnings we see in the scriptures about deception is there ever such a thing as deception can a Christian be deceived are we for warned are we allowed to judge and I think I'm doing two lectures this morning one about the doctrines of demons and the other one about judging what we see in here and what does the Bible have to say about it it's critically important that we understand this is our immune system spiritually and we need to look at what the Bible says about false doctrines warnings at the end of the age as well as our ability and instruction to judge so without any further waste of time let's just get into the scriptures in 2nd Corinthians 11 verse 2 paul writes from zealous for you with a godly eagerness and a divine jealousy for I have betrothed you to one husband to present you as chaste virgin to Christ now watch but I am fearful lest even as the serpent beguiled Eve by his cunning your minds may be corrupted and seduced from wholehearted and sincere and pure duplicity which is in Christ and what is he going to do for if any man comes oh he works through men is that clear he doesn't say Satan comes is any man Satan works through main as a deceiver If any man comes and preaches another jesus that's the first point or if you receive a different spirit so there's another Jesus another spirit or you receive a different gospel last week we spoke in church about Christian exclusivity this week you will see that there it is indeed possible according to the scriptures that Satan could come in not in the world but in Christianity to deceive his purpose is to present an alternative to Jesus he is the Antichrist not just opposed to Christ but an alternative to Christ so he comes to present an alternative Christ Jesus of the new age the Jesus of the new church Reformation who is all love and no Holiness who is all tolerance who is all acceptance all approval of sin that's the gospel that is going out today but if anyone teaches another Jesus or you have another spirit so is it at Lee at all possible to have another spirit indeed indeed I refer you to Joanna mikaelsons teaching on the beautiful side of evil for every real gift and function of God there is a counterfeit but nobody says because it's a counterfeit it's not real it was there to deceive what you have to understand at the onset is that Satan will work with real signs real wonders real powers to confirm a lie so we are forewarned let us look further we have very specific end time warnings now what do we mean by n times we mean that Christ is coming soon we see eschatologically that prophecies are fulfilled and we are moving towards the close of the age when Christ will return now the Bible has much to say about the spiritual condition of the world and the church at the time of Christ's return let's see 1 Timothy 4:1 the Holy Spirit the Spirit of God distinctly expressly declares now I think it's very important when he uses those words distinctly and expressly declares he makes an absolute statement this is how it's going to be that in latter times which is the times of the end the last days some will turn away from the faith we see the influx of all kinds of fourth in the church all kinds of perversion must be accepted the church has become an extension of the world people turn away from the faith giving attention to what deluding and seducing spirits and doctrines that demons preach through the hypocrisy and pretension of liars he's telling us exactly how it's happening at the end of the age what will we see people will turn away from Christ because men hypocrites Liars will come in and what will they do by the inspiration of seducing spirits they will preach a different gospel they will present Christ in completely a different light like we know the New Age does it's a semantic revolution they also believe in Christ they also believe in the new birth they are ever believed that Christ is an ascended master who came to teach us how to be God's they new birth is an understanding that the third eye is opened and they understand spiritual things and they function in the spirit realm it's all occult they took the same language but this is not just in the New Age has infiltrated the church take note he talks about believers who turn away from the faith how do we turn away from the faith because imposters and Liars will come in obviously in the midst of the believer and by the power of the ducing spirits preach a different gospel would you think that it's important to be discerning to be alert to be awake of course we are forewarned however the Christian community today works completely differently if you say Jesus we think we are all Christian if somebody just mentions the name of Jesus you drop your God and you stop to discern because we're all in the same team on twe not so the Bible for warns our second Timothy 4 verse 3 for the time is coming when people will not tolerate sound and wholesome instruction or doctrine doctrine that which has been established by the Apostles what will they do they have itching years what do they want they want to choose people who tell them what they want to hear look at the last part of that verse chosen to satisfy their own liking and to foster the errors they hold for example the faith movement God's just want you to enjoy everyday life God wants you prosperous happy wealthy healthy that's why God is here he's the big genie in the bottle you rub the bottle right and God is to serve you we are not his creatures he is not the sovereign Almighty God now all of a sudden he's there to serve us the gospel of the new age we love that why do men love that because it tickles their ears they hold an error because that error allows them not to change and then to be served we can get out of this deal Lord my name is Jimmy what can you give me so the Bible is very clear that because men hold errors other seducers will come inspired by demons to teach them what they want to hear you're a little God you create by the power of your tongue speak positive all these things are principles of the New Age they are twistings of the word but because main want that they want to be at the center of their own lives they don't want to be servants of the Most High God they want to be the gods themselves so these demons come to deceive not we're not in the world in the church right that's the warning at the end times let's look further we sit at the feet of Jesus and we listen to what he has to say Matthew 24 the Mount of Olives now I've highlighted it for you in blue there to make the point Matthew 24 from verse 3 while he was seated on the Mount of Olives the disciples came to him privately say tell us when will this take place and what will be the sign of your coming it's exactly the same context as I previously mentioned again eschatologically at the end of the age Lord how will we know it's the end of the age what will be the peculiar characteristic of the end of the age how will the H come to an end let's see what does he do the first thing he says be careful that no one must lead you what be careful that no one will mislead you why what will happen many will come and the strength of my name I'm saint of the Lord I represent the Lord here we have this this chap in South Africa at the moment boo shitty now he ran away they confiscated his jet he does miracles by demon power and people go there forty thousand at a time on a Sunday because he claims he's of God many will come in my name and what will they do they will lead many astray he tells us the peculiar characteristic before he returns would be false prophets false Christ's to deceive many to lead men astray this is so clear even a blind man can see it watch verse 10 and then many will be offended and repelled and begin to distrust desert him whom they ought to love and obey and they will fall away now this is what the Bible tells us again in the book of Thessalonians before Christ's return we won't have a great revival we'll have a great apostasy the word meaning those who were worth in who fell out they departed from the truth we will have a great departing from Christ Jesus is the one speaking yeah he is saying before he returns men will desert him may more abandon their faith and why will they do that listen in verse 11 many false prophets will rise and deceive and lead many into error how clear do you want it to be the Bible tells us when the Messiah comes things will go very dark especially for the believer because they will be many voices but people will claim to stand for God they will present themselves to the church as ministers of the gospel some even as a Christ and what will they do they will deceive lead many astray and what will we see a great apostasy today we have mega churches filled with people who go there because they can get something they are not there to repent of this sin they are not they to bow before a holy God to acknowledge the sovereign rule over their lives they are not they to come to a true salvation they are they because apparently God is dishing out goodies and if it rained on your potatoes then surely can rain on mine see what I'm saying we want not God for who he is but for what we can get out of him and in as a matter of fact Jesus said exactly the same thing they want me for my for the bread they're following me for the bread what they can get there were many such people even in the time of Christ so these are clear for warning I think as believers one should wake up and look at these scriptures in the light of the Holy Spirit and understand that it's indeed true we are at the end of the age listen second Thessalonians 2 verse 3 let no one deceive or beguile you in any way look at how that scripture starts 2nd Thessalonians 2 verse 3 the word deception or being beguiled it's all over the place for that day will not come what day is that the day of the Lord that day will not come except the apostasy comes first what is that word apostasy look at the bottom knee apostasia a falling away a defection literally those who were within Christ who fell out watch and laser as postures he comes first and lays the predicted great falling away of those who profess to be Christians has come now that is all over the scripture let me make it clear there is no such a thing as a great revival at the end of the age the Bible makes it clear they such a thing is a great falling away why because of deception because of deceit false christs Daniel 8:25 and through his policy shall cause trickery to prosper in his hand who is that the great Anti Christ he shall magnify himself in his heart and mind and in their security he will corrupt and destroy many I love that portion of Scripture of the Book of Daniel because it's referring to eschatology the end of the age before Christ's return we have Satan ruling and what will he do he will make trickery to prosper and what will he do because of people's security he will corrupt and destroy many we're ok there's no such a thing as deceit for us we're really in the truth listen I had a board at the back of this church for many years the greatest weapon against truth is the assumption that you already know the truth and this assumption is based on pride how dare you challenge me well you've got nothing to lose be challenged test yourself to see if you're really in the faith test yourself you've got nothing to lose you can either be corrected or you can be confirmed than what you already believe what you have to lose but pride keeps people from checking their own heart and seeing if they actually understand the scriptures most people are ignorant is about its content and this is why they are not aware of the fact that it's like a flood at the end of the all you need to do is look around you we have New Age symbolism and Masonic symbolism in churches in worship services Hillsong all these people with a corrupt and evil ways seducing the youth into an experiential theology no truth they apparently don't need truth anymore they now have a unified experience that convinced them they are spiritual they are indeed spiritual but it's not the Spirit of the Lord now let's look further false prophets and teachers false prophets and teachers the Bible instructs us to be on God Paul tells Timothy God and keep this preciously adapted truth with which you have been entrusted let's see take care and be on guard for yourself and the whole flock and the whole flock right I know that after I'm gone ferocious wolves will get in what will they do why does he call them ferocious wolves what does a wolf do kill destroy tear apart it's a vicious animal even among your own selves Weibull they come from from the outside forget it be on your guard like Judas they will come from the inside the betrayal of the Messiah has been from the inside those which we are familiar with listen to me sincerity is not a safeguard against deception Oh Pat my posture my Germany my priest he's such a sincere man he will never intentionally deceive us and because he's so sincere I'm safe well he can be sincerely wrong because there are Mustaine Tuesdays I testify of them that they have a certain zeal for God but without correct knowledge really sincere but sincerely wrong and so I raced in another man sincerity and I am deceived right beyond your God they will come from the inside inside amongst yourselves they will not be unfamiliar to you you know we know that most family crimes are committed against individuals through people they are acquainted with and are comfortable worth that's why these crimes are sometimes are difficult to resolve that person wasn't threatened they know this other person and these crimes are the same we are not threatened by these individuals because they're among us right saying perverse corrupt distorted things watch verse 31 always alert or be always alert and on your god admonish and advise and exhort those are the words I want to look at be always alert and on your god why because from amongst you will come in with perverse things in their hearts what do they want to do endeavor to draw away disciples after their own party now look further second Peter 2 verse 1 but also in those days there arose false prophets among the people just as they will be false teachers among yourselves now I find this very interesting it's referring both to the Old Testament and the New Testament when God is moving there are real profits what do we see out of the Old Testament there were also false prophets so when God moves Satan launches a counter-attack for those who are ignorant not walking with God not in his word not in fellowship he gives an alternative truth exactly like he did in the garden look demonic deception is very simple it comes from Genesis 3 is a true that God has said cast doubt on God cause doubt on his word and then I tell you what you'll surely not die you'll be like God give an alternative truth cause doubt on God cause doubt and his word and then present the hearer with an alternative truth if anybody preaches another gospel if there is another Christ if there's another spirit who is that Anti Christ there are just two kingdoms guys that of Christ and that of Anti Christ and we see the conflict of this taking place not just in the world but even more so in the church what you have to understand Satan's got no problem with the world they already joined clock Charles glass ministries they on their way to hell without touching the sides the people is concerned with all those who are in the truth because they pose a threat so those are the ones he's got to focus on those are the ones that are under attack so what does he do well like he did in the Old Testament they were false prophets what will he do in the new there are teachers and then there are false teachers there are shepherds and the majority of them in the New Testament that we find in a modern church are hirelings and wolves the Bible talks about these as well hirelings and wolves a hireling works for a wage he doesn't lay down his life for the Sheep he gets money for it a hireling work like we see today in the church pastors with bodyguards pastors that don't serve anymore bosses that you can't reach for help oh sorry pastor can't see you see you in two months time maybe then you can see the junior poster poster Stuber if the pastor cannot carry a chair anymore run away if he can't serve run away if it's not available run away because then he set himself up as someone you hear what I'm saying false prophets just as they will be false teachers among yourself what will they do who will subtly install fully introduced heretical doctrines now Jacob has a brilliant teaching on this para so Jesus on putting the truth and the lie parallel to one another using the same by Scriptures but twisting and reinterpreting redefining this truth and subtly leading people away now I think I have a deeper revelation of what the scripture means let me explain it to you off they go I played a video to my wife once of a 7-day Adventist pastor who was preaching out of the Greek and Hebrew and the first time around you can't catch him out second time around I play it slowly I stopped it a later lesson and then I opened my Greek and he agreed I can Hebrew dictionaries and I showed how he takes the the Greek that he supposedly quotes but how I typed even the cult of the Greek out of context to substantiate what he's saying heretical false but you don't know because equals the original Greek but your spirit in in in fellowship with the spirit of truth tells you there's something wrong yeah but who am I to judge well we're gonna have a look at that so what will they do they will come in and they will introduce heretical doctrines scriptures it's that the line next to the truth or parallel to it they use the same by scriptures but it sticks out of context there are no proper biblical hermeneutics takes cow takes context historical background many other things that we do to understand the Scriptures correctly but they have a pretext therefore they quote a text out of context and I substantiate a lie and the people love it sir because he will never deceive as he sincere I can see even cried he had a goose bump and we are deceived and people feel very condemned when they feel wow what is this guy saying I need to check this out how dare you touch God's anointed there on a pedestal right and we're gonna have a look at that what does the Bible say about it and many will follow the immoral ways and lascivious doings God just wants you to be happy and prosperous I had many people come to this fellowship that they just old common old common olds odd crime church mouse there's something wrong with my spirituality because I'm I'm not singing the victory songs and spending the money right because they have been taught that materialism equals spirituality by a false gospel now the Y's are lascivious that's why I'm saying it what are they after that which satisfies the flesh they come with a false doctrine they creep into the church tell you what they must quote Luke 8 the sower sows the word some 50 80 100 fold right what did I say this is money I tell you sow into this ministry today the Lord has given me a word to bless you hundredfold so all of a sudden the Lord's an investment banker but Luke 11 says verses then the parable the seed is not money but the Word of God but they twist the scriptures to speak to the lascivious natural man in the Yarra and so they deceive many and they covetousness in the covetous they will exploit you with false cunning arguments what will they do exploit you can you imagine that the Bible spoke about the majority of preachers we have in our modern day what will they do exploit you they will come in from among you they will take the same truths and twist it like afters giving an example the seed is now money God will give you a hundredfold just give to me and they will exploit you a good example I was in a church years ago fortunately where a young pastor stood in front of the church there were 7,000 people that night and he told them look I'm getting married next week like you know I don't have a car I'm trusting the Lord for a car after the service three people gave him a car three people ok but what was the principal he was manipulating the people because they had this false doctrine of you give to this wonderful man of God and God's going to give you 100 fault one of those suckers waited two years to get a new car he deserves it to believe a lie like that no the Lord's going to give you maybe I'll get a Ferrari you know or gave him my Toyota but 100-fold who I'll get a Ferrari this is how carnal people are instead of having treasures in heaven they want the kingdom now and so they twist the word and this is what the Bible tells us they will come a generation of preachers that will not stir up with your love for God and that which is to come here after but I love for the world and the kingdom now it has what is it is what Satan is done in Genesis 3 look man you can get everything now this will make you wise look at what you can get it yummy for the eyes and so these flame preachers come today with the same serpentine spirit that tells you forget what comes after forget what is valued and treasure in heaven let's get stuff now like I heard one preacher from America preach now faith is the substance of things unseen he says well there you have it five is the stuff of my stuff what so it's about stuff it's not about salvation what about Jesus you say take up your cross follow me what about the scriptures that say in the world will have trial tribulation distress and frustration what about the scriptures in the book of Acts that says that we will go through many trials to enter into the kingdom is that unbelief you see in the gospel of the new preacher at the end of the age that's to confess defeat that's to be a loser Christian be aware these things are rife in the church and people love it so the Lord says even in the Old Testament the prophets prophets prophesy falsely and the people loved it so the people loved it so because it resonates with something in them that is not yet dealt with by the cross right watch this second Peter 2:15 what am i doing this morning at our first lecture on deception for the world but for the Christian how will it increase over and over it tells us false teachings false prophets false teachers twisting the truth watch here for psyching the straight road they have gone astray there followed the way of Balaam the son of Beor what happened with Balaam what happened do you know well he got offered money to go and prophesy against God's people right and on his way their donkey air to speak to him the donkey saw the angel and he stopped because he knew is going to be junkie chops so he stopped he's not going to work with this guy on his back those guys gonna slap him but he's gonna stop right here because if the man doesn't want to listen at least the animal war but he was offered money many many money so for psyching the straight route they've gone the way of balaam forsaking the gospel of Jesus Christ which is not popular which as a matter of fact cost you money you don't make money out of it they decided look there's money to be made by exploiting the Lord right look but he was rebuked for his transgression when a dumb beast of burden spoke with him in a voice and check the prophets madness checked his madness are you crazy right these are springs without water must driven along before the tempest for whom is reserved forever gloom of darkness watch for verse 18 for uttering loud buzz of folly they beguile and lure with lustful desires of the flesh does that mean they are sexual perverts while some of them are but what does it mean they appeal to that which men want to hear they will rise for themselves up teachers who will speak false doctrines that will tickle the ears and help them to foster the Arabs they hold right there's money in this stuff I saw this week a video of a church in New Zealand and then one in Australia you got thirty forty thousand people going to a church but we need it did it starts it's a rock show and the pastor's God is here like a movie star in the clothes it's it's incredible opulence there's money in telling people what they want to hear they don't come to church to repaint they come to be entertained they come to feel good they don't want to be offended by no one that's why the secular humanist lawyers of this world are now infiltrating the church and they will change it so that the church must not offend anyone or exclude anyone others otherwise pastors will be locked up but then I don't have to worry about the majority of pastors because they want everybody to be in right they promise them Liberty how this church these deliverance when they themselves are the slaves of depravity and defilement I've got an interesting real live video of a bodyguard of Benny Hinn that had a hidden camera and shows how he gives marijuana zoals after a service to the staff Howie he sits and smokes to these people one of these pipes it's on video it's live they what does it mean I don't care about him I care about the people who listen to people like that who has false signs false wonders but they saw themselves are depraved and living in lusts of the flesh he goes on to a stage and he preaches with a special suit made for him with golden real golden thread and a little dove honest I thought we servants I thought we must decrease that he must increase it's so contrary people it's so contrary to the gospel of Jesus Christ the true Christian humility remember I have nothing against these people as persons but I have everything against them deceiving the Sheep destroying the souls of men that's why we have a majority of people who are at peace who will tell you I'm saved I am a Christian but by their fruit you will know that they are not because they have an experience and they pastors tell them don't listen to the devil if you feel guilty it's the accused it's the devil don't listen to him how will they be saved if the teachers tell them they are saved do you now we know that meanness set up pastors and teachers as idols you know if you say anything about them if you point out any error those people will disassociate themselves from you you can say anything you want about Christ but just don't say anything about their pastor or his teaching then I found everywhere further false prophets and false teachers I think what we have done thus far is to show you quite successfully the Bible warns us over and over and over again from amongst us false teaching verse shoot st. shivers down your spine because how will you defend them be protected against these things you have to have the word of truth and the spirit of truth now second Corinthians 11:13 such men are false apostles counterfeits false apostles yes if there's a true one there's gonna be a false one masquerading as apostles or special messengers of Christ oh yes I'm on the authority of Christ God has seen me God has raised me up I'm called of God masquerading ministers I have attended years ago here in Pretoria something that was called a prophetic conference now I knew for certain in for sure that the man that they were prophesying over with some other pastor was a big big heretic and lived with lots of wrong things in his life because I knew them personally and here you had this one false prophet confirming another false prophet in front of the people and the people said then they think he must be a man of God because that man of God said he's a man of God but who said that man is a man of God because all they did was was to deceive the people with false doctrine but you know what was so interesting the people loved it because it made them feel good nobody wanted to feel offended nobody wants to feel like he's a sinner nobody wants to feel condemned and convicted well let me explain to you something in order to get saved you have to first understand that you condemned unto death you have to agree that you deserve death but the modern church will never tell you that they just want you in so they can take your mullah so the Bible's clear false apostles now he says and it's no wonder Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light they call him the bright morning star the next fact that's the title of Christ but he desires that title they call him actually his real name is son of the morning not the bright morning star but certain translations you find nowadays where in the book of ezekiel is caught the bright morning star it's his desire to take the place of Christ he masquerades as somebody of light I taught you before in the ancient Babylonian mysteries that they believed that God was the oppressor of men Satan actually gave His life he came down to liberate the minds of men and set them free from the Sopris of God and that stole the belief today he stole presents to be the one that makes you think openly I've got an open mind while I don't mine is closed by the word no we have an open think about it just be open to everything I have attended a service we we rodney howard-browne was praying for people i stood right in front to listen what he was saying the guy started to pray aloud in english he told him don't speak don't think that's a prerequisite for demonic a manifestation that was the whole purpose of yoga and meditation to pacify the mind to focus in a single thing so that it doesn't think so you become open to the spirit world here's this guy I'm standing there listening to me and this is what he's telling people don't think don't speak just receive what you see is not stuff I'm making up I was there myself fight is one thing for these are many disorderly and unruly men who are idle and misleading talkers self deceivers and deceivers of others look at verse 11 they Mouse must be stopped for they are mainly distressing and subverting our families by teaching what they ought not to teach subverting destroying families now how do they do that how do they do that Colossians 2:8 they'd no one carry your way cutting you off as spoil through philosophy intellectualism and vain deceit I've highlighted those words for you there you see that that comes out of the Bible I didn't write the book I just read it Colossians 2 for I say this in order that no one may mislead and dilute you listen just give me your attention do you see what I'm seeing all the time the same message deceive mislead delude it's Satan's game once we have our gaze fixed on Christ his objective is to get us away from Christ the simplicity of the cross the all sufficiency of the Cross the power of the gospel into money prosperity health happiness girlfriend-boyfriend success what is that got to do with the gospel you don't find it in the Bible these are side issues the Lord only tells me he cares for the lilies of the field you'll care for me it's all I need to know Colossians 2 4 mislead and delude you listen by what plausible persuasive and attractive arguments they talk you into it it's not what the word saying it's saying this I love what Jonah Michelson said in a testimony when the spirit being that called himself Jesus appeared to her when she was in the occult he said it was Jesus but he looked grotesque and he said to her listen I only look this way but when you grow up spiritually you'll see me for I truly am what so he talks it into it you know he looks evil she can see evil but he stalks her smooth talks into don't worry don't worry it's gonna change later that's typically the way the devil works you look at the person you Saints I don't know I didn't feel good about this but yet you listen to him he dilutes with arguments right second Peter 3:16 speaking of this as he does in all his later listen there are some things in those if personals of Paul that are difficult to understand here it comes which ignorant unlearned I love that portion unlearned we had such a guy here that we put out of the church and learned what do they do unstable twist misconstrue to their own utter destruction now I don't need to believe it just because you might show me that's not what the Bible saying I wanted to say this right misconstrue because they are not educated in the word so I twist it and what happens they distort the rest of Scripture what do I want to point out yet there are people who think they belong in the ministry they they have some sort of egocentric reason for it they either make people worship them and I feel good by acknowledgement of people or they make money out of it but they are unlearned in the scriptures and they twist it not just to their own destruction but to the destruction of others be away just because people are sincere doesn't mean they cannot deceive you right second Peter 3:17 let me warn you it's in red let me warn you let me warn you knowing these things before you should be on your guard lest you be carried away by the error of lawless and wicked persons and fall from your prison firm condition is it clear what these people do can I do it any better not at all I can read these scriptures I'm amazed at how clearly it points to our age they are ignorant and learned they twist the scriptures my wife was a pastor at Rhema gives what go they'd rather Rhema because it's not worth staying there they pause with monkey puzzles they got no clue of Greek or Hebrew because apparently it's not important anymore you can study two years in Europe pastor a posture of disaster you know nothing about the Bible you don't even know the gospel but you're a pastor and there are many of these heretics unleashed into the world because the way they operate is to function by the spirit don't worry the Holy Spirit will eat them no he won't study to show yourself approved workmen who do not need to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth so let me warn you be on your guard lest you be carried away how by the errors they twist the scriptures they're going to tell you something else for example Romans 10:17 I was taught by these five heretics faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God Lou you don't have enough Fife you've got to study the word and then speak it speak it speak it so I had this lunatic frame that would walk the whole day and his mouth would I said what you're doing he says now I'm watering the seeds are planted anyway until I translated it myself out of the original language faith conviction and to salvation comes by hearing and not just hearing anything but by hearing I preach
