December Tornadoes Target Illinois (4k/UHD)

today is December 1st we have an uncharacteristically warm day for December and we are going to be storm chasing central Illinois cold temperatures aloft should make up for the rather of marginal conditions at the surface we're hoping for a low top supercell west of Springfield hopefully around the Jacksonville area so we can intercept on i-70 to where we have a nice road network as you can see skies are partly cloudy you've got some nice blue sky up in there storm should be photogenic if we get a decent low top supercell today and we're rolling you can see some convection going up there to the west along the Mississippi River about 80 miles to our West there is still snow on the ground here we had a couple of blasts of winter storm here in November that's gonna have her the instability in surface conditions luckily most of it is melted but it's going to be really weird to see a tornado today with snow still on the ground we just passed Jacksonville Illinois we are approaching a severe warned storm you can see the rain free bass on the left side of the frame there there's even a little dippy du lowering there in the clear air that's where our main area of interest is right now okay looks like we might have a funnel cloud here looks like we have a pretty distinct funnel cloud now storm is still severe warned I'm gonna try to hop on spotter network here and try to report this thing to the Weather Service Oh tornado Illinois magic it's right here getting a debris swirl right over us looking for more of a substantial debris cloud in the field here yeah there's the funnel and straight up here yeah I'm fine just watching for a tornado out of there there was one just a few miles sobbing or so just a heads up if you're heading north gonna watch out for that area of cloud right now so okay good take care point with wreaths leaf NATO underneath at this location it's a couple miles now it looks like it missed Beardstown probably to the southeast um yeah yeah it is that's a good description of the path there yeah it's heading northeast yep you're fine now you can head into Beardstown now that's going to be moving away pretty quick it's on the ground I just saw it condense just just keep an eye on it you'll be fine oh that's wet crossed how's that for a tornado hey pretty nice huh you see the damage there on the road please never get damaged on 2:125 I almost hit it there's a tree down and a bunch of crap on the road yeah I'm gonna report that damage real quick all right well you tell snow on the ground nice [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] stop sign blown over here tornado is in progress maybe two miles to the north-northeast [Music] it closed up there yikes yeah it looks like it dissipated but it still could drop again at any minute so it's impassable to the east there yeah okay alright thank you alright yeah maybe maybe south and then around so all right take care well it's pitch black and it is pouring rain so we are aborting the chase and heading for home
