Hey guys.
You know, we need a lot more love right now in the world.
Don't you agree? The strongest weapon that we as humans
have is not our fists, but our tongues. [Proverbs 18: 21] When you look at your life right
now, the people in your life, the people who you work with, at home, your
friends, your family ... think about them. Do you use your tongue to build them up?
Or to break them down? Are you using your words the way God wants you to? [Colossians 4:6] Not sometimes. Always. If you eat food without salt in it,
without spices, it's oh ... it is bland. It is, ugh.
And that is how it sometimes feels like to people when you just speak to them just carelessly, not
thinking carefully of what you are saying to them. Build them up, give them salt with their food.
Salt with your words. Even if you are a parent, Fathers and mothers, I'm talking to you.
Do you speak with your children the way God wants you to?
You know a lot of people say, oh, you shouldn't spank your kid.
But they verbally abuse their kids, and that is a lot worse.
Many children today grow up with parents who verbally abuse them
and it wrecks their lives because of it. Because now they grow up with low self-esteem
and they believe lies about themselves. In my new book, Bold Pursuit, a 90-day
Devotional for Men Seeking the Heart of God, I wrote ... "The tongue has the power to destroy.
One moment of frustration or anger, one impulsive choice of words or one momentary lapse of
judgment can change a person's life forever." James warned: [James 3:6] Yet we can also use our words in positive ways. First, we can use our words
to honor God's sacred name. [Exodus 20:7] God gives us the privilege of using
His name in our worship and prayer. Speaking it draws us closer to Him.
On the other hand, misusing His name puts distance in our relationship with Him.
We can show others what it means to be a new creation by refusing to use OMG or any variation
of the Lord's name as a thoughtless expression. I don't know about you but
I am so tired of hearing OMG every single time a TV is turned on somewhere.
We should not use the Lord God's name in vain and carelessly as a thoughtless expression.
Do not mock God. I also think some of us speak too much and too
fast, not thinking about what we are saying and you see, when we do that, when you say, oh
I just spoke and I couldn't control myself, you're believing a lie because you're acting in
the flesh, not in the Spirit, because you see, every reborn Christian received God's Spirit.
And the fruit of the Spirit is self-control. So if we say I just spoke and couldn't
control myself, couldn't help myself, we lie. [Galatians 5:22] Some Christians even say things
like - I've always been like that. I talk a lot, so just accept me as I am.
Christians who say that. I won't change - well - God's
Word says that you have been changed if you are a true reborn Christian.
You believe a lie and if you believe that lie, you will continue to live in that lie.
It's a lie because that is the old you, the fleshly part of you, when you
came to Christ. You became a new creation with the Holy Spirit in you that
gives you self-control in all situations. And for those of you who say I don't want to
change, God's Word says you have to change. [James 1: 19] As reborn Christians, we need to control
our tongues through the Holy Spirit. We need to take every thought captive
and bring it under the obedience of Jesus Christ and live according to the
Spirit in us, not according to our flesh. That includes gossiping - speaking
vulgar words - oh, cussing. And apart from that, no other filthiness
should come out of your mouth. [Ephesians 5:4] When we talk to people, we need to be wise. We need to say the right words.
But also in the way that we say it. It has to be wise because sometimes how you say
something is more important than what you say. [Proverbs 12:18] At the beginning of this video, I
said we need more love in this world. But how do we physically do that?
We do that by focusing on other people more than we focus on ourselves.
Understanding, having empathy, knowing what they need from me right now.
And, how God wants me to talk to them. [Philippians 2:3] I've said this previously, but the biggest
issue that we as the church - brothers and sisters in Christ - experience right now in
the world is not what's going on in the world, because God is still sovereign - He is in
control - and we are moving to the end times. That's not as big an issue -
but the issue is the self life. That is the biggest danger you have.
I wanted to share this video with you today to remind you that you are the light of
the world and a light can cannot be hidden. Do you live like that? Do you use your words to glorify
God, to bring Him glory and honor? Or are you using your tongue in the exact
same way as the rest of sinful mankind? [Matthew 12:36] I want to ask you today to start to really
focus on the words you bring out of your mouth. Think before you speak.
Bring it under the obedience, under the Lordship of Christ.
Use your words the way God wants you to, to be a light, to be a
sweet smelling aroma to other people. And when you speak, speak through the Spirit,
to build people up and not break them down. [Ephesians 4:29-30] I want to ask you today to listen
to the Word of God and to go to Him. Close the door.
Pray to Him and ask Him for forgiveness if you have been using
your tongue in the wrong way - according to the flesh - and not according to the
Spirit, building people up or gossiping. A lot of people struggle with gossiping today.
Ask him for forgiveness. If you haven't been using your tongue for His
glory, and then start to grow, deeper, fuller in Christ, abide in Him, He in you, you in Him.
To do that, to help you with that, do not just hope it will happen, but plan for it.
