i think i wet myself no oh it's peeing up here i'm raking peeing right now ain't gonna mount anything i broke a rake tooth i heard it go ting i'm like well i'll pick it up so yeah everything's wet now just come up and build up this hay now this evening might be the perfect moisture now just the top of it gets a little damp then and dusty stuff underneath breaking in the rain real nice for raking now well it's bright and early a bunch of raking and railing to do here this morning and then uh do some more morning this afternoon hopefully get the rest of the main stuff done with or say knock down and hopefully bail up tomorrow maybe or it might be the next day i don't know i wanted to get up an hour ago before the sun came up there's actually everything's damp right now tires are actually a little wet weird seeing it but i just had my alarm set for five o'clock and you know there's just like no way got my breakfast packed with me for this morning for those that don't know i can't eat breakfast it don't work for me unless i want to have stomach problems the rest of the today that's that's how it goes so i'm just about done with this field pretty bad this is usually one of the better fields and it's probably one of the worst this year ugh and not getting much here every day goes by it gets a little bit scarier i'm hoping there's a field over here after mo i hope that's halfway decent it looks decent from the highway but just once you get into it see now that it actually looks like all over walk the rake and i gotta go a little bit tight corners so lock the rake up or in [Music] i'm too close okay go to your home yeah it'd help if i parked on level ground too it would help a little slanted here he's not that difficult locking him in the transport it's usually fairly straightforward sure i should uh did it in this low spot here instead better so i gotta rake this be a little bit slower some more pure alfalfa in here than anything but i mean it's only 10 o'clock but getting warm out already so i'm gonna keep my speed backed off here a little more gentler with it yeah the flaxseed's starting to bloom a little bit i can see some shades of the bluish purplish flowers in places but it's more in the low spots a little bit so i don't know what's gonna happen with that stuff no idea the organic wheat here probably what's gonna happen is if i were to guess we're gonna end up swapping it but we're just gonna leave it stand hopefully we get a shot of rain at some point where a bunch of weeds start coming with it then we'll just swath everything down and bale it up then probably is what will happen i'm sure the the wheat seed itself will be um pretty poor quality probably really bad if there is anything in the heads at all i suppose that this keeps up too um whereas well i'm gonna get on a couple of the water projects here for the cattle but still waiting on well drillers yet to drill some wells yet for pastures and uh yeah i guess saying if this continues to keep without any rain we're gonna have to um probably going to pull some of the cows out of the pastures pull out the older ones and maybe some other more problematic ones i might have to trail them out of the pasture then and sell them then because there's no way because this is the problem right now um like our hay supply right now for us currently you know we should have enough unless we have a fire i suppose but we should have enough for the winter depends when we have to start feeding and whatnot so it always depends on that but everything else though is most the pastures there there's not much there it's pretty much trying to get the cows through the year here to have some decent eat some of the some of the passage depends on where it's at some of them aren't bad but most of them are just brown and cows are in there for a while it just decimated me so figure out what we're gonna do for sure here the last i mean you know we've had dry years 2017 was kind of bad leading leading up to 2017 because it was uh kind of dry to begin with for the couple years before that was kind of bad and 2002 was kind of bad and but i guess i wasn't around for 1988 though i wasn't around yet but it was uh that was dad thinks it's reminiscent of that year because of all the wind you know the amount of wind we've had this year and heat heats the other thing that like 2017 yeah it was dry but drought but i don't remember it being blasted hot though it was just dry um so this year it's mom and dad anyways i think it's a lot like and even some other people too think it's a lot like 88 where because of the heat and the wind it just non-stop everything kind of gets cooked almost every day i mean we've had a couple days where the temperature's backed off but other than that though it's been i could say it's i don't know what it is currently now but you know from when june started it's been the second warmest june on record this winter looks nice here kind of on a there's a there's a buffer zone here um where the um you know we got a no-till right beside me here and then organic stuff actually starts right on the other side over here so we got actually got a buffer zone here just alfalfa grass and it's always comes thick here along the field buffer zone's been here for quite a long time all said and done here when we get all the alfalfa down here i think we see how many bales of dead sea we had so far like 300 some and maybe after they will have 400. maybe after you get the other couple the other two fields done maybe we'll have 500 bales maybe and that is that's pretty uh that's pretty low it's pretty low granted uh you know we still got to do some highway ditches yet and then some farm yards and some piddly areas yet so we'll get a few more there and plus we want to plant some sedan grass in a couple of the low spots hopefully it'll grow a bit and hopefully get rain it'll grow then of course plus you know the land we lost from last year or that atlanta was crp for decades and then we actually were hanging it for the past years but now guy wanted to put into farmland then again as i talked about last year the other guy another farmer got it instead so really really there's as i mentioned before there's no bad blood there's just you know he just had a little bit higher bid and plus he he kind of had i would say priority almost but you know i gotta take that out of the equation now you know because usually every year we did some of that crp every year when it was in crp you know we did we always do part of it every was it was it every three years always do a piece of it then of course we were paying the whole thing it was out to see if you're hating the whole thing for a couple years and then of course now it's broke up now so i mean it's kind of a concern the hay crop you know to have enough for the winter but the i think the biggest thing though is just getting the cows through the year this year that's that's that's the big issue right now plus with the water situation to the water is just terrible here some of those dugouts are terrible and yeah just the passage is drying up right now so yeah i wish the wind rose looked all like this i wish it did plus this because this buffer zone here has been here for a lot of years there's grass and good grass and elf out there that's established but the field next to me though we see it at belfalf was that two years ago yeah last year was the first year we cut it now this is the second year but it's been stressed this field's been stressed though it doesn't have it doesn't have the best stand on it now there's a thin windrow now oh maybe i don't know how maybe i'll get on this field one two three four five six seven eight maybe we'll get 20 bales yeah that's pushing it i'm hoping for 20 bales on this field i guess that's pretty bad granted the soil kind of gets a little bit higher here as you get further west here west side of the field it gets gradually worse and worse and worse but that's pretty bad though this is why we run bar mowers around here bar mowers have been hot this year hot when i was down looking at equipment uh whatever the heck that was a couple weeks ago um talk about bar mores a little bit a couple dealerships and they're like yeah they could they said they can't they can't keep a used a used bar mower on hand there's this there was one guy that traded in and then that day they sold the guy's trade and it just gone it's because guys can't use conditioners disc binds or atrocious for unless you actually have a specific crop like yeah if these guys have planted rye or oats or yeah they use and then the conditioners then but anything else though like there's no point a lot of geysers mean some guys are still using their disc binds but you can tell where disc spine went and uh and a bomber went the bar mower did a better job the disc binds leave a couple inches more standing because it's so short crop is so short and thin it just doesn't it doesn't cut very good you know it's kind of weird too as well like i mean we i mean i sold a bit of soybeans and wheat this year and some durham all right of course soybeans have recessed quite a bit wheat is still kind of hanging up there yet and durham is kind of holding too but i am no rush to celebrate right now i'm in no rush i mean i got quite a bit to sell yet but i am the park break is on that one right now pretty much i'd say to all my viewers out there what's your status for the year so far i know i got worldwide viewers too i'm just i'm just curious what it's what it's all like in other places here it's kind of something oh well this is nice yeah this is a nice low spot this better be nice yeah it's that looks nice there i got to just kind of watch back here then just to watch the thick windrow there i don't get to see him too often this year and back to piddly stuff anyways just talk to the neighbor here and stop by where i was raking it and uh just past couple days he's lost three cows thinks the water went bad by a large pond that kind of it's right beside one of our pastures too the water's kind of shared water so we got uh we got a old farm here that has a hydrant there cows drink that water but yeah that's nothing i'm worried about is is the water situation that's that's rough for those cows oh wow yeah well fenced off uh this dugout and the lake fenced it off stupid algae so cows can't go in there don't want to drink it so yeah here's the guy's past neighbor's pasture he lost his lost a few cows last week so yeah for the for the i was gonna say for the pits but no it's for the all this water you can't use it whatever water there is and lose some good greasing here too a little piece here lose some freezing a little there is it's nice in the valley here yet but pretty bad up there it's a lot like here there's nothing
