this is my very first tutorial and I am excited about it because I've been sitting here stressed so I recently started using Daz studio and they came out with Genesis 9 and I have a client that I'm working with and I'm trying to import Genesis 9 into Unreal Engine 5.1 and when I tell you it has been a headache it has been a headache but I like to think God because he's made me very stubborn and he's made me very persistent and I finally figured it out after scouring the YouTube trying to figure out how to do this and a lot of people have some great tutorials but none of them were direct and what I was looking for but I finally just figured it out by just clicking stuff a whole bunch of stuff so I'm gonna share with you guys so right now I have up a character I made in Daz Genesis 9. um Mr Genesis not a figure with the tune kids um morph on it so I'm gonna jump right into it first we're gonna go up to file oh go up the file hit send they go down to Dad's unreal Dash has a plug-in that allows you to if you probably already know but if you don't know that's as a plug-in that links directly in to Unreal Studio um before you do that you have to install it here and also install you have installed through that through Das and you also have to install it on Unreal Engine but before I do that let me open up unreal because I have to have it set so hold on one second open up a new project oh when I tell you I just figured this out and now I'm doing the tutorial because I'm that excited man I'm only thinking about how many other people out there are trying to figure this out so open up games third person created wherever you're gonna load your file at sorry it's taking a little bit so we have a third person template up before you do anything you have to after you've installed the that's the unreal plug-in from Daz Studio you can download directly from there um you would go up to edit plugins matter of fact let me do it in a in a way that makes sense okay so I got that so I got Unreal Engine up so going back over to Dad's when we go to file send in Dad's to unreal this pops up which actually after you've installed it into desks by itself you have to install it into um Unreal Engine so through here it actually gives you the option to install it into Unreal Engine because you actually you need it in there so you can plug it right in and hit this select your version I still I did Unreal Engine 5.0 even though I have 5.1 it still worked you would hit you would select your your version hit install plugin you would navigate to navigate to again oh yeah there we go all right so you go there navigate Daz application data guys this is not where you're supposed to go all right so you would actually go to where is this nope that ain't it either where are we going hmm well these instructions up here actually show you how to do it um all right so when you go up to here file hit send Dad's unreal after you have it installed in the Das right here just follow these directions and they will show you how to install it in to Unreal Engine um on whatever version you have whether it be Unreal Engine 5 or whatnot it'll show you exactly where to install it and what and everything it it's a it's a it's a lifesaver so moving forward you would make sure you're on fbx 14 binary that's what every other tutorial said and I'm still still not clear on that but hey um make sure on that make sure you bake your subdivisions you have your general maps on you can generate normal maps on and then from there before you hit accept if you already have Unreal Engine already I mean if you already have the dash to Unreal installed um on um Unreal Engine after you click install plugin go into Unreal Engine go up to edit plugins type in Das and turn on Das to Unreal because when you export it it will just it won't do anything it'll just export it's supposed to It's supposed to open it up directly in Das if you don't have it if you don't have this enabled it's not going to do anything you don't have to re-export it so after you click that it's going to restart and we're back and Daz is right there so now that that's enabled go back into Daz hit accept and then give it a minute while it loads out I feel like as they they know exactly how to do this stuff but they leave it up to us to figure it out but they'll leave us till we're bone dry until we finally figure out instead of throwing out some water it's crazy it's crazy but hey it is what it is now we're going to go to unreal right now it's loading actually so I can't do much until there it goes now that it's loaded up I'm gonna go to first all of this is gonna pop up and see it clear it's fine that's all going to disappear down the side give it a second so while that's doing whatever it's doing you go to content drawer and here is your figure so what I like so what I did I create one access I started I created a new folder right click in inside the area hit new folder rigs now when it installed danced unreal in your computer into unreal another folder inside your engine inside um the plug-in actually came in there that actually helps a whole lot that I don't think most people realize that it's exactly what we need in order to do this so if you go to plug if you go under engine go to plugins and scroll all the way down to dads to Unreal content on what is it expanded go to retarget these files is what you need in order to retarget um the mannequins that are in here Manny Quinn even the unreal four mannequin in order to retarget it to your Genesis 9 figure so I'm going to take G9 ik rig and also G9 retargeter copy it then I'm going to go back up to my fold in my nerd folder Rigs and paste it inside of this folder now I have them here so now what I'm going to do I'm going to double click on on ik rig this loads up right now it's showing the goals but obviously there's nothing here and that's because I have to under preview skeleton you have to tick down and select your skeletal mess that you imported so mine is nerd and here he is trying to just move it up there we go all right so that's him now where am I going now all right cool cool cool cool from there exit out go back into the content drawer go to G9 retargeter and here is where the whole magic happens so under Source ik this is where mannequin Quinn Manny whoever you you know whoever the source Target with the animation is coming from will be inputted so under none we are going to put um we're gonna do ik rig mannequin that's for that's for ue5 and 5.1 mannequin so Manny or Quinn so Manny zoom out a little bit so there he is and then in the Target is would be your figure so I'm going to go down here to the G9 ik rig there's two in here we'll see there we go there I is so oh now now that he's in there when I hit run see how he fixed up his stance and then what you do you go down the asset browser and then I'm going to scroll down to walk or run to run and then double click and now he is retargeted and it is freaking I mean excuse me it is freaking amazing I've it just taken me about five six hours to figure this out and it was but I figured it out and I immediately wanted to share with you guys so everything from falling standing idle running walking all of that perfect all right so again I'm gonna go through it really quickly while we're in just from the unreal part from the unreal side so you go to content drawer after you've imported from Dad's unreal you go to content your content drawer scroll down to engine plugins and scroll all the way down to Daz unreal that's the unreal content click retarget and right here you want to copy G9 ik rig and G9 retargeter bring those copy those and bring them into a folder that you created under your character from there double click on G9 ik rig that's where you would change your previews your skeleton to your character from the drop down menu your skeletal mesh all your bones and stuff honestly they automatically they automatically come in because you imported from Daz which is pretty cool so you make sure you just change this so that way you can see your character exit that out go into G9 retargeter enter in well from the drop down select the ik mannequin so either from ue4 or the ue5 ik it'll automatically select the skin for that and then under Target you would choose the G9 ik rig and then your character and then from there it's all set all right guys just wanted to share this I was excited thank you guys for coming to my very first tutorial I'm gonna try to make some more later
