Day in the life as a Consultant

[Music] hello and welcome back to the vlog today i'll take you with me on a normal working day in dubai i wake up at 8 a.m it is a bright sunny day outside and i am not a morning person so this is going to be a challenge but let's go i get dressed and i put on some makeup especially mascara to give that look that i am fully awake given that we're not always in the office these days the dress code is very casual at the moment so i go for trainers with my dress and take some time to get my ootd instead of making my bed finally off we go today will be a full day at the office where i am a strategy consultant so join me i hold a taxi like a pro i don't use the app anymore and i put on my airpods for some me time there are currently no assigned desks in the office so i make my way to my booked hot desk and i set up my laptop which takes a very long time because tech and i are just not friends these days then it's time for some catching up with emails and planning today's tasks at around 10 30 i take a quick tea break of course english breakfast tea it is and some panda as choice of snack [Music] the view outside of the office just never gets old it is so stunning and the sun does make it a lot easier to get through the day i am then joined by my friend serge who decides to make a special appearance on the vlog in french do you want to say hello to the vlog hey guys afrostation replay okay excuse me this uh this juice is actually really really nice for anyone who's in dubai or wants to order them online no i do not work for the company but it's damn good juice that's switched to english very quickly it's okay people understand english pokemon actually because my mom used to drink lots of mango juice i mean [Laughter] it's okay i had big claims about you being on the vlog so um yeah what performance were you going to do this is my first time being in a vlog guys i participated anyway so basically everyone like speaks both whenever they're watching this i don't know i think most people probably speak english but they've never heard me speak french on the vlog then i get back to work and as i said tech doesn't work for me so it is a blurry video for you but here i am working while pretending i am not thinking about lunch already at around 1pm i make my way downstairs to collect my delivery everyone here orders food for lunch but there are so many healthy options so it's very easy to try and be healthy so today i went for quinoa and grilled chicken salad at lunch we meet amal so amal has been listening to all of my pleas before coming how many times did i email you asking stupid questions and everything said don't worry sheen these things will sold themselves out a couple of calls very patient she's made the movie easy i heard that everyone who's moving somewhere has an email because she makes the movie but then she's whisked away because she's always needed somewhere she's basically the superhero of the office but she promised to come back to the vlog very soon at around 2pm i have a work call where i'm mostly just learning and taking notes you know newbie life [Music] quick bathroom break which i use mostly to walk around and stretch my legs then i get back to work munching away on some almonds and listening to do a lipa while i make some slides for afternoon tea at around 4 p.m we decide to make a trip to another floor of the office which is the posh floor and we find some random fruit and cheetos lying around [Music] [Music] we are then joined by anya so obviously i have more friends say hello anya i have a question sure so you have that necklace yeah let's see yeah does it have any meaning it does it's an italian good luck symbol good luck symbol yeah so it's like a bullhorn it's supposed to ward off evil spirits it's a bullhorn i thought it was a chili that's what he said that's what everyone says it looks like a chili it does look like a little chili okay how long have you had it for over a year um do you want the jacket because i feel you're a little chilly it's okay some people are gonna laugh i'm sure i'm gonna get it she did not even smile it took me a minute i was like does he have a jacket that matches it or something it's okay it's okay everything for the vlog it wasn't funny but anyway how are you finding it anya being in dubai it's great yeah it's not what i expected it to be but it's been a lot of fun nice i like it do you think he'll come back i think so we'll see what happens i mean you've been great friends so it's a good time so we'll see well thank you for being on the vlog then you guessed it back to work it is it starts to get dark so i start to get bored and lazy but more work it is thank god for my friends who send slack messages and crack me up while we're working next to each other at around 9pm i finally leave the office but the views outside are as stunning at night as you can see with the beautiful lights sasha and i make our way out and we complain about how long our days are as usual then say goodbye i then make my way to dinner with my friend wahidah because i hate sleep apparently so we meet in suit jumeirah which i absolutely love for dinner places and we settle on an indian place i am starving so you're gonna watch me eat really really fast after dinner i finally head home and the driver has some funky music going on which is not bad not gonna lie finally home but work does not stop now i have to review a youtube video that my editor has sent me to be posted tomorrow while i'll watch some tv in the background [Music] you thought i was done so did i but we are both wrong i remember that i put the laundry on yesterday so i have to sort this out now all right it's what time is that i can't even tell it's i think almost one am it's been the longest day this is probably very noisy let me switch off the aircon so we can talk there we go nice switched off um so it's been a wonderful day i thought i would end the vlog here so i don't have to do the voiceover later have a little heart to heart for those of you who stuck around to the end of the vlog um so yeah today has been a typical day of my work day since i moved here and a bit of an early start with a lot of work during the day um [Music] just hanging out with my friends at work to be fair the work itself is all right i like it it's intellectually challenging it's interesting not always and um the project i'm on i really like so that's pretty cool and um yeah it's okay the hours are a little bit long as you can tell i finished work today around eight but then i had to do some more work when i got home um so that's a little bit challenging i'm getting used to that um but yeah i think my problem is i have i have too much of a busy um social calendar so i need to make that a bit less busy so that when i while i'm at work i'm not constantly worried about what time will i get out but yeah otherwise it's been okay i've been enjoying it it's very different to my previous job being in dubai is very different to being in the uk and you know back to living on my own um but it's very different to living in urine as a student if anything it's easier because you know you own uh first of all and also secondly you can just pay for a lot of things for example i can pay for a cleaner i can get like my clothes ironed and stuff so i don't have to worry about all of that so that's been quite liberating um but yeah i think i'll end the vlog here tomorrow is just going to be exactly like today i'm waking up going to work hanging out with my friends and just work work work i realize that i am quite boring at night so apologies for that um i hope you're also having a lovely day and yeah i also wanted to say that obviously i'm actively trying to keep the youtube channel going which is a bit of a challenge but um no i genuinely enjoy the process of filming and all of that so that's absolutely fun for me um but i would like to know what kind of videos do you want to see do you want to see more vlogs do you want to see a bit more i don't know do you want like advice videos on moving on finding a job in new country or generally dubai itself you know if you have specific questions i think i should do a poll somewhere but um do com leave comments down below tell me what you want to see more of um what do you want to see less of just you know let me know um emil is and also if you if you're still here um season three of the podcast is going to come out really soon which i'm very excited about also i think i've just been looking at the squid instead of the lens so apologies for that i never film front facing camera um but yeah season three of the podcast is going to come out soon so watch out for that and that'll be an exciting time again i have
