foreign [Music] I am a CS student at the University of Waterloo currently on a co-op at Bloomberg and today I'm going to take you in a day of my life a more eventful day in my life because we have some intern events going on today so I thought I'd bring you along shoot around the office show you what I do in a day and show you some of the fun sides of being a Bloomberg engineer so in the mornings it's a Subway and a little bit of a walk to get to work usually I'll be out of my house about 8 10 8 15 and it's about a 20 to 25 minute commute door to door I like to get out a little bit earlier to avoid the height of the morning Rush [Music] maybe you can do this [Music] so usually in the mornings I'll come up to 29 first and then grab a coffee so after my breakfast and coffee on the 29th I'll head down to my desk on 25th and usually in the mornings I'll start off by looking at my email my calendar and just kind of getting an overview on the work that I want to get done that day this morning in particular I was making some final changes to a PR that I was working on the day before and I was trying to get that finished and out of the way before my stand up at 10 am [Music] thank you and my mother Channel I'm currently working on an anomaly detection machine learning project under the trading and analytics department at Bloomberg and for most of the day I was working on building a pipeline for data ingestion feature extraction and transformation I've never worked with machine learning in a working setting before it's only been smaller scale side projects that I've done and so this term there's been a lot of learning every almost everything is new which has been super exciting and my PR that I put up before stand up was finally approved and so now I'm heading off to lunch and learn for the food so this is one of the meeting rooms um I'm here during lunch so it's not a book but usually the meeting rooms are pretty booked I had a meeting here earlier today but obviously didn't film it because I don't want the balls to do that I thought I would show you the Bloomberg keyboard which is kind of different they have special hotkeys like this one is currency index Port Equity just these hotkeys like message for internal messaging system so this is another one of the meeting rooms in the office got kicked out of the lost one and this is a view Central Park is right here after lunch I'm back at my desk continuing the work from this morning and so Bloomberg has a hybrid working model where you have to be in office three days a week and you're allowed to work from home two days a week but I'd say so far I've been in office most days just because I find myself focusing better and it's also nice to work in the same place as your team and just be able to kind of chat or ask questions and I feel I find that collaboration is just way easier this way after about two to three hours of work in the afternoon I'm heading down to the sixth floor for a pantry break and I'll take you along with me [Music] hello this is Harsh there's another interview from Waterloo in turn from Waterloo so apparently today's Opposite Day yeah we're lining up for donuts because it's the first day of pride month June 1st and look at the donuts I need to show the pantry snack too I guess fruits it's my favorite part [Music] and this is like a patio usually we come here to eat lunch there's this beautiful view of the city all right harsh what are your thoughts still all the tea right now all the tea recipe we have a bowling tonight today too that I'm gonna bring the Vlog for the Vlog can meet the rest of the interns at volunteer because I think most people are going most of the wild going through they're going see you later the most people's boring Vlogs I've ever seen in my life you need my personality you're such a menace like outside of the Vlog like why is it when you Vlog you're like so I can't be intimidated intimidating in the Vlog if you want to see the Vlog you'll be like wow she's such a cool person like I want to get to know her like I want to like I feel like if people know you're a menace they'll want to meet you so for the rest of the afternoon I'm just back in my desk getting some work done again I forgot to mentioned this earlier but I'm mainly working with python pandas numpy as well as SK learn and tensorflow for the machine learning models and yeah I'm just working until the end of the day before I head out for the intern event we're going bowling Bloomberg takeover mm-hmm let's block our own space you know what you know what that just makes me look like celebrities you know maybe it's just redacted it's too powerful this is a Winner's mindset this is so weird [Music] I'm sick today [Music] all right let's spend time [Music] Lord God is distance [Music] [Music] [Music] see you next time [Music] I'm sick A Day Dreaming I just want the feeling of you in my bed remember
