Day 84 | More Ziggy | Appalachian Trail 2024

good morning today is day 85 of my Appalachian Trail through hike I'm still in calonia State Park here in Pennsylvania it's like 10:00 and I slept in until like 9:30 this morning I don't think I've done that this whole Trail so I guess my body is just telling me that I was more tired than I thought and that I needed some sleep um so yeah I feel pretty refreshed this morning so that's good um they have showers here so I'm going to take a shower uh the only issue is that I don't have a towel so going to have to find something to use as a towel I think I'm going to use my bandana but yeah this will be interesting yeah I have no idea what the plan is for today especially because it's already so late um hopefully we can just get like 10 miles in or so but I don't know just kind of doing what feels right these days and this feels right so [Music] well I feel so much better now after that shower nice hot shower thanks to State Park here uh yeah just going to go back and break down Camp I think and hopefully get going here pretty soon it's almost 2:00 and we're pretty much just now getting started hiking and we've got this lovely uphill and this sign here that says most difficult so excited Cory Gap shelter this is a really nice [Applause] one picnic table Little Flower Garden well we've gone a whole 2 miles to quy Gap and we're pretty much looking for any excuse not to hike today so I figured that this was a good time to finally give you all what you want which is know more stuff about Ziggy hey I'm Ziggy and where are you from Ziggy near Pitts B how did you get your Trail name I went North instead of South one time and I told people I zigged instead of zagged and so they said well then you should be called zigzag which I shortened to Ziggy and what made you want to hike the appalation trail to see if I could it sounded impossible and extreme so I said well that's the thing for me all right well I know some of you have a lot of questions about Z pack so we will answer some of those questions for [Applause] you all right hi Ziggy what kind of pack do you have it's a 35 gallon gallon 35 L you want the brand name yeah Palante p a apostrophe l a n t and what is your base way weight 11 lb it's pretty light um someone asked like what happened to like the hip belt if there is one and the sternum strap well there was a hip belt but I cut it off because it weighed three and a half oun and I don't really like it or need it you didn't use it for like 400 miles right I didn't use it the whole time so finally near Damascus I cut the cord cut it off um what else show us the front of the pack so how much does it weigh when you have food and water in there about 20 20 lbs yeah this is my lucky umbrella oh yeah that is sunny we have named his umbrella um because we are convinced that that's pretty much the reason why we have such good weather so he's not allowed to ever get rid of Sunny otherwise it will start pouring on us every single day Mojo has to make fun of me for something every day so she makes fun of me for having an umbrella because oregonians don't use umbrellas we don't believe in them all right well uh I think that was a lot of the questions that I've uh seen in the comments about Ziggy but if you have any more um let us know and I'm sure he will be happy to answer them [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] says Birch Run shelter want me to do yours I thought you'd never ask so it's really so easy so easy anybody can do it so we've decided to stay at BIR run Shelter tonight we hiked 10 miles today starting at 20000 p.m. I think we got here at like 6 so it's actually pretty good time the uh the trail was quite nice um pretty flat and not a lot of rocks and just like a few short climbs so yeah kind of a quick 10 miles um yeah we've got some exciting stuff happening tomorrow we're going to get up early so that we can enjoy some fun traditions of the at tomorrow yeah so if I don't check in later thank you so much for watching and mighty fine hiking everyone bye oh [Music] [Music]
