[Music] oh good morning I am second to leave the camp it's 6:55 chap left early today we all woke up because this beautiful sunrise that you saw it was like a movie I it was crazy we all all of a sudden I heard everybody staring and we just started to look at the sunrise and it was breathtaking I mean it looks good on camera but it it just looks way better in real life I highly recommend so today what's the plan we are doing about 15 and 1 12 miles today so that we can do a Nero into ridewood tomorrow and uh I'm kind of excited we are not going to do a zero we're going to do a Nero in and maybe a Nero out and I'm kind of happy about that because one of my goals for the PCT was to do less zeros yes we want to do uh some of the towns that we have in Southern California as we understand kind of like the towns and the uh accommodations are going to you know reduce the further north we go and so we do want to experience those towns and you know but I'm kind of excited cuz rightwood is a little bit expensive and so we'll Nero into town n out and then keep going going over a bad and pow to the day after so that should be fun so yeah 15 and 1 12 miles today so that we can do about 2 miles to ridewood do an ero clean up recharge and all that good stuff so I think it's going to be a great day I do think we are going to encounter some snow today so uh that should be fun we're prepared we've got our ice axes those uh micro spikes I've got enough water to last me until the 10 Mile Mark where there's supposed to be some water so some people were like when we went to the water cache they thought that we took too little water which was 4 lers and we had uh McDonald's so we didn't use water for cooking so that was good I'm just trying to see if I missed the the spot no I don't think so um so we I still have more than 2 and a half liters probably for the next 10 miles and that's usually enough especially hiking in the morning that's where we came from last night and this is where the PCT goes also just for information today is pretty much only switch back uphill like we are literally just going uphill uh I'll tell you what feet we are and what feet we are going to be in just a second so we are currently at 5,200 5,200 FT elevation and we are trying to get to 88,200 Ft of elevation so we'll be accomplishing those 3,000 ft within the next 10 some miles which is not too bad it's definitely more of a gradual uh uphill you know so it's definitely manageable but it's literally just uphill today came around a corner and saw this little prettiness like some different types of trees nice A little burn Zone [Applause] [Applause] and that's chop right there okay rattlesnake alert didn't rattle at me just staring I really don't know what to do I saw Frozen throw something uh to get it out of the way just get out of the way already man I'm trying to get by yo yeah that's not going to help I don't know what to do this your snake right there don't want to go anywhere cuz it's sunning itself I understand I definitely definitely understand yo was still staring at me go away well they can strike from such a far distance how am I supposed to get past it I know I'm aggravating at but like I'm going to run wooho all right I did it I don't know if you're supposed to St throw stones I'm sorry if you're not but there was no way I was going to be able to get by that I do have to admit that I am a lot more intimidated by snakes on the PCT than I was on the uh at also I am sorry if I'm not supposed to St throw stones at a snake last time when Fox did something with a snake people got all upset but honestly if the rattlesnake is right on trail like what am I supposed to do am I supposed to poke it then somebody's going to get upset am I supposed to just wait until it's done done sunning itself what I'm going to be like I didn't have anywhere to put up my tent to do that like do I spray it with water like can I please get constructive criticism and not like well you shouldn't have stone thrown a stone anyway I love animals and uh yeah so a snake though I think it can handle a little bit of stones just saying [Music] it is about 10:45 and I didn't mean it but I literally hiked exactly 10 miles it's 10.0 and we are at around 8,100 Ft of elevation and I am going to tell you I started feeling it at about 7,700 feeling it as in the air got really thin and I had a lot harder time breathing um my body significantly slows down with regard to speed strength um slight headache tinges but nothing now so I don't know that because I as I mentioned before I get a lot of headaches uh and so I never know if it has to do with you know being dehydrated or elevation just because I get headaches at home so I can't always uh attribute my headaches to anything that has to do on tril so anyway I'm going to have a little bit of lunch meaning I'm going to have a honey bun I literally have almost nothing left to eat I do have a meal for this evening some bars and then tomorrow the Nero is where we're going to resupply look at him he's doing his videos look at [Music] them vlogging vlogging right there that's right I use my shoe to hold my bot water bottle it's very practical we're just walking and there's our first snow patch it's huge woohoo watch you slip so that's how steep it is and there's chap it doesn't look that steep it's pretty steep and another one chap is right there using his ice ax like the smart man he is get up this water source right there right here caused a lot of drama I stepped in it with my feet like full on and chap he fell so check out his video I'm sure he'll talk All About It Came Upon a little Memorial jod and Jerry they loved and lived and lost their lives of the of this Trail 1983 remembered always here today and ever more May 25th 2016 love Mom and Linda so our um hostel or place is actually on Acorn Trail but that's like a separate trail that we would have to hike back to when we leave uh rwood so we are hiking another 5 miles total to get to Highway 2 but for today I think we're only hiking like a few more miles out so that should be fun there is a ski lift right there so it's 2:15 and we're pretty much done for today going to uh camp at a campsite wait for the others and then go uh do a um NE road tomorrow which is 2 miles ultimately I feel like it's a zero tomorrow because it's already 2:00 we're already here this is going to be Nero and then tomorrow is going to be Nero too so but uh it'll be good cuz we can save some money doing it this way boom shaka laka so we're just hanging here it's so much fun for real table and I I've eaten everything the only thing I have left is a bunch of Sour Patch Kids and um and a meal for this evening so exciting it's 350 we're two miles from town and we're chilling just you know waiting for everybody else it's fun it's a lot of fun we could go to town [Music] that was a little bit slanted [Music]
