are you wondering if your davinci resolve export settings for youtube are as good as they can be or maybe you're just starting out and wondering how to export or maybe you're one of those people who have to wait for a day and a half for youtube to finish processing your video to 4k this video i'm going to show you the best davinci resolve export settings for regular youtube use let's level up so here we have davinci resolve open i have one of my previous youtube videos open it is edited color graded has effects on it and the audio has been tuned it is ready to export now look at this button here it says youtube so that must surely be the best option for your export well no if you're using a camera that is better than a regular webcam i suggest you go to custom instead because it will make the look better and make your youtube processing time shorter so first we have the self-explanatory stuff here file name and where to save it next you need to select render single clip this will render out your video as one file if you select individual clips it will render it out as individual clips you probably don't want that unless you're doing a weird video art installation in downtown amsterdam in front of one of those special cafes they have there yeah google it anyways moving on make sure you have the export video box checked because and this might be a wild guess from my part but i suspect you actually want video to come out of this for youtube keep the format in quicktime and i don't want to open up a religious discussion here because many people have many opinions about formats and even more on codex but for what we are doing here quicktime will let us change the audio bitrate and should cover our other needs as well now you should change your codec to h265 for some reason you can be in a situation where you don't have h.265 on the list one of my pcs is like that and if that is the case you should select h264 the reason why we prefer h265 is because it's just a number better than h264 now the real reason why we prefer h.265 is because it offers 25 to 50 better data compression and gives the same level for video quality as h.264 or substantially improved video quality at the same bit rate and it supports up to 8k video but what do you care you just want to know how to export this and make that sweet sweet youtube cache right moving on if you have an encoder option here i don't depending on what machine you're using and what version of resolve you have you should pick an encoder that has your graphics card title in it encoding with a graphics card is always faster than using a cpu unless you have a potato as a graphics card you might also have a checkbox called use hardware acceleration if available and if you do you should check that resolution and frame rate should match your project which should match whatever you recorded your video in quality you can set to automatic or put it at restrict 2 and then put a really high number i generally leave it at alto since i have seen no real difference between that and manual depending on your machine and if you are using resolve studio or the free version you will have different options here if you can pick the one called main 10 not this one called main but main 10 you should do that the reason for that is that the regular main outputs an 8-bit video and we know that youtube will compress our video when they get it so using main 10 which gives us a 10 bit video gives us more room for being compressed without the quality taking a hit but not everyone has it for keyframes you can just use automatic but if you get weird artifacts in your video try and change it to every one frames this will increase your render time significantly but should fix any weirdness in the exported video and keep frame reordering checked to make sure davinci can see its best to keep the frames looking good now let's move to the advanced settings in the advanced options there's really only two settings we are interested in changing the color space tag and the gamma tag the color space tag should be rec709 and gamma tag should be rec709e as you can see i have selected here already now why are we doing that setting the color space will make sure that the video is looking correctly no matter what system you are on there will be some systems mac or linux which can make the videos look strange if you are not defining your color space finally subtitles i never use subtitles so i always just leave this area blank now let's look at audio make sure the export audio box is checked keep or set the codec to linear pcm if you're using resolve studio you will have a box here to set the sample rate of the audio if you have it i suggest setting it to 48 000 the bit depth should be 24 all of this will improve your audio and ensure that when youtube hits you with their compression things should still sound as intended render one track per channel should be unchecked and the same goes for render as discrete audio tracks and make sure that the output track is set to bus one in the file section you don't need to change anything but let's look at it anyway here it is and then you just click add to render queue and it pops up over here and you can click the render button you're now ready to upload to youtube these settings should ensure that upload and processing times are optimized the h.265 codec will give you a smaller upload and your audio and the codec will also make youtube process your files faster boom you just leveled up if you enjoyed this video i hope you will click the like button and maybe consider subscribing to the channel and with that our time together has come to an end this is raz mazur signing off [Music] you
