[Music] in the introduction lost both in life and literally in the woods daunting is blocked by three beasts each of which are fearsome and represent the vices that could lead Dante astray from the right path to God during the rising action virgil arrives and says he will guide dante together they journey from the first circle of hell limbo to the second third fourth fifth and sixth circles having adventures and countering demons and lower circles climbing fleeing sometimes fainting and documenting all the way the poets are denied entry to lower hell the city of dis once virgil calls on a little divine support the poets can move on and they encounter the many sinners for shades all throughout health observing their behavior and punishments and occasionally speaking with them learning their sins their crimes and their misgivings in the graphic seventh circle violence on it fraud is the worst sin of all in the eyes of God and when the poets enter the eighth and ninth circles readers see that while hell is burning hot in many places frauds and traitors are punished in these inner circles brutally cold frozen wastelands in the nightmarish climax of Inferno Dante and Virgil beat Lucifer the King of Hell at the center of it all who choose three traitors Cassius Brutus and judas iscariot now Lucifer has many names and all of how surrounds him the poets must climb down his huge body to escape during the falling action Virgil indeed carries Dante down Lucifer's body by grabbing Tufts of Satan's frozen furred use like ropes dante learns that hell was formed when satan fell from heaven which created a vast pit that reached the center of the earth which the poets are now emerging from during the resolution Daunte indeed emerges from hell and sees the stars overhead while not explicitly stated the resolution also paves the way for the next book in Dante's Divine Comedy trilogy purgatorial you
