you said in a previous interview that you know death row was sort of segmented where you had kind of shook screw on one side and snoop screw on the other side and the two of them didn't really get along you had mentioned that like you know Dre's Snoop Dogg Pound didn't really like you very much well you know I guess I just saying that we really didn't get along I mean it was it is what it is it was what it was you know the solute side I guess you could say I was Christian that was blood and I mean the good part that came out of that is that we were all able to dwell in one place record records and still do business to govern and create a great vibe and create history but on a personal side you know I've never been to snoop kid's birthday party or anything like that it you know shook and his guys and Tupac and myself and it was Snoop Dogg and Dre and the Dogg Pound that's how it was on the personal side but I think as far as you know a working relationship it was a great working relationship everybody divided was incredible because you know we're making great records sure now you and DJ Quik became close yes man that's my doom yes DJ Quik is one of the first producers actually us that kind of like took me under his wing as well he bought all of the great musicians and introduced me to out late when it came to musicians and to great writers and singers like that Hyup DJ Quik produced the majority of the records that i recorded over here death row okay now when the source Awards happened and Suge got on stage and said you know any artists who don't want you know the record label dancing on the video death row and you were actually standing right by Suge when that happened right yes I was yeah I was right there on the stage me okay so talk about what led up to that and what happened when he actually said that well you know that was a whole bad boy and bad boy death row thing going on and you know the dis records were being made and should always had something that he had to say about puffy and he addressed it and you know nobody really should was unpredictable you really didn't know kind of what he was going to say but you know we were there and we when we wrote we wrote together and I think it was I was excited in the moment to be on the source of words and to be on the stage and you know he told me come on up here with me you know come up so you know I went up on stage with him and uh you know it was it was mostly a bad-boy death-row thing okay cuz it wasn't really an East Coast West Coast thing at that naw naw man we stay partying on the west east coast all the time um we were there you know even during the the harsh times even when I think the Dogg Pound was shot up at a video shot at they shot up the set at a video or something out there in New York we always stayed out there cuz you know most our guys was out there Eric being you know a lot a lot of dudes that hung around us we're living and from New York from the East Coast what you're talkin about that the New York New York video shoot right mm-hmm that the shoot the shooting happened yeah I I've interviewed you know dad's corrupt um you know a gold elope like I've interviewed people that were there that talked about it after that shooting happened did you feel that things got more serious a death row now I was already serious man I wasn't even there for that but it was already serious it was serious before that happened it was serious it was always serious around death row when it came to you know threats we walked with security every day you know we had bulletproof vests songs all the time that was just a part of our routine because there was so much hate you know most of the fights that I remember a lot of fights were initiated by people I guess trying to prove that you know he wasn't as gangster of a label as we say we are I think that was more what it was and you know today they call it hatin was more hating and you know we had to fight to get out of some of them clubs and fight to get out of some of those places so you would actually go outside of the bulletproof vest all the time every day I had a security guard that I wasn't able especially more towards than and I wasn't able to move around without security at all did anything real serious happened that wasn't really reported by the news you know obviously the New York New York shooting was was documented were there any other shootings that happened along the way yeah I mean you know one sure friends got killed you know Atlanta Tommy Jake was murdered in Atlanta and and you know there were some serious dudes that was around them all the time anyway you know those dudes are some of them were fresh out of prison that that was the group in his neighborhood that was his friends that was his boys that he had given an opportunity to work a job and you know a future out of the hood and but it was still serious dude so just because you're out working the job don't mean that you know the street stuff stop and sometimes that kind of lingered over and to what oh I'm sure what sugar got going on as well sure now you actually were with Suge when he starts visiting Tupac in jail yes I was okay so so describe describe the first meeting that Suge had with Tupac in jail I don't know what the mean was like cuz the furthest I got was to the gate and the restaurant was across the street directly across the street from the prison you know why should we'll be in there and he would come out and he would talk about the plans on the ride back up to New York talk about the plans of pop getting out and the things that they were gonna do it's going to be on like real excited so I had an opportunity to see the excitement of pop coming the death row you know from sure guys and from his mouth mm-hmm so that then Park actually joined death row so what was it like in the very beginning or when pop joined oh my god everything changed like because pop came in with this like his hit that work spirit that pop came in with was incredible I mean the smoke number was already working and you know I was doing my thing with DJ Quik and so many artists were already there before pop Kane but when he came it was like you know from the day he came out of jail from the from from the day he got off the plane he pulled up to the back door man and filled fell out actually he felt like the first thing he did was fall out you like passed out completely now hit the hit the ground and they picked him up start to put him word on he had too much to drink or too much to smoke all at once and when he came to he went into the studio man and pop didn't come out and you sing all these different faces daily started coming through the Queen Latifah's and you know all those people would start rolling in the studio I mean he was bringing great work spirits to the studio and and he was working on that record and then that's how I came up with so many hits man so his work ethic bought bought bought death row level up because it was like a friendly competition amongst all the artists you know Pok recorded a song that quick oh man we've been spending the does a day or two on this song so we got it you know so everybody started recording songs now you you and Park had a bunch of songs together yes sir and probably everything probably everything you hear some singing all I sing on it okay yeah probably there was a toss it up yep picture me rolling mm-hmm heaven ain't hard to find yep what's your phone number yep I ain't mad at you yes sir what am i what am I missing in terms of what got released oh man you know I had some little homies a lot of songs like all the time that you know I haven't heard in years because I don't have any copies of that music and for some reason I mean raced from everything when it comes to death or ruin to pop from people mine I guess they try to erase it but I asked a lot of songs that I had I'd be like man I did that and I started hearing and be like oh yeah that's what that is so I'm still hearing new songs all the time he I can't I can't even and I'm hearing at least two three new songs a year that somebody find my vocals on now you had mentioned that when you impacted I ain't mad at you that POC didn't like the song I uh I said he liked it he wasn't really into it like that wasn't true was trying to everybody was trying to get him to do this video and I was excited because you know it was pocking myself so I felt like it was my opportunity she had always been promising me of my project coming out and when pop came you know everybody had to wait so it was like double dutch everybody was trying to jump in and and I'm mad at you I thought would have you know placed me at a in a great place would have been a great song to piggyback my career off of so I thought we were gonna do the video and thought it was gonna be a single and pop in a whole nother way he wanted to go with toss it up and that was because and I was happy with that that was because he because of casing and Jojo and Aaron also I was able to be amongst you know a few legends verses it sure well and we're going to talk about tossed it up in a second but I ain't mad at you how did that song come together man oh man all them songs man I would be in studio a in km studio record my record and I can be in there on the mic man in the middle of a verse and I'm um I know I spent a long time I do true true R&B music I started laying vocals and pop will push the door open like why I'm gonna my a TV coming for a minute commit I got some I wanted here and you know we would we would uh go in the back room and I was just listening those who listen to the song he'd be like I go on the mic and just this do something come up with something and you know most of that was just moments after smoking and drinking and just getting on the mic and just going at it just going at it really okay and that's how I ain't mad at Raquel yeah that's hot that's I ain't mad at you came up me and it's every every one of those songs I can almost remember the sessions of them you know in a met I'm in you as far as that's what I was doing I was most of the time on them on the mic record my own music and POC will come to studio come on come on I had to do it I would be mad at him sometime but he's you so demanding and obnoxious and I was like the little brother so he liked you you better come in here cuz week come on you gotta come on right now I'm not going there record it and and go back and go back into the studio okay so you're on a whole bunch of Tupac songs yes Tupac is blowing the [ __ ] up man and then the shooting happened in Las Vegas or now now leading up to the shooting what was Tupac's relationship like was shook man it was like you know who's you know I was a young dude around and they was like brothers to me you know I like to say should treat him like a son but he was you know he was too old to be a son or we were together almost every day you know always you ride together clubbing together at the house cooking I was I was the cook I'm always always cooking and you know their relationship seemed fine to me and on the way you know on the way to Vegas we all care there now in the Vegas probably 100 some cars drove down to Vegas that day after leaving the toss it up video shoot I keep blowing that I'm sorry but after leaving that video shoot we had just left that video shoot before we got to Vegas so so you left the toss of the video shoot y'all go down to Vegas and were you actually with Pok and sugar when the fight happened at the hotel yes I was okay so so describe from your point of view what happened this all I know is we seen the guy going up the escalator and Pok says to him they had exchange of words and he came back down and when he got back down to the bottom the fight broke up okay you're talking about earlier into Anderson yes yeah well okay so Orlando Anderson so so Tupac's Orlando Anderson yeah right and what was the reason why pop was was started exchanged words with Orlando it was a story behind that it was said that I'm from my understand they will say that they were trying to get a chanc Orlando was trying to take a chain from either pop or one of the death row people you know because that was it was like a bounty out on anybody they had a death row medallion was a seventy-five thousand dollar bounty put out said to be put out for anybody that can bring that chain back and who who put this bounty up I mean you know say that puffy had that bad boy had a bounty out well this was this was the you know the rumor that's been circulating around but how did you guys actually know that this was true you know I mean how how did you know this wasn't just people just trying to rile up the situation timing [ __ ] they posted I mean you know I mean it could have been I mean you know most of the time it is is it is other people in rumors and and things like that but again you know that's what I heard that's what I remember and you know at that time you had to take it serious because you know there were people shooting it as I remember getting shot my car getting shot up a few times your car got shot up a few times yeah what was the what was the situation around is leaving leaving a club being around Suge and they just shot out the windows really yeah so so you and sugar just hanging out and suddenly your car your car hit me when I pull it off I've been shot at when I fought her yeah they shot at me yes sir do you have any idea who did the shooting not at all but I can I seen the guys I kind of seen it they were on something it's because you know I've always watched my back watching myself and I seen it I didn't know that they wouldn't shoot and when they shot I took off I was at the Beverly Center I took off and sped through uh Beverly Hills they didn't come behind me man and I went up to the office okay so for those that don't know la Beverly Center is like one of the biggest shopping malls in all of Los Angeles yes this is like the most public place you could possibly think of this is not like on some back alley like there's literally thousands of people around and you're saying that at the Beverly Center they were shooting at you it was a club downstairs and when I pull it out of the garage you went as soon as I pull out of the garage they shot at me about six times and went one or two of them went through the window and through the door okay so so you guys were basically on high alert all the time you're wearing bulletproof vests you've been shot at on numerous occasions POC sees Orlando the Orlando Anderson who's also known as baby Dee okay uh but there's already a story behind Orlando that he had beaten up like a death row dude and taking this chain right were you already familiar with that that's what I that's that's that's kind of what I heard that's kind of what I heard and I know that we reacted to it anytime someone down with anybody in death row I mean we all we all rode together I don't care if it was a blue cyrus out or whatever we all rode together but that is what I heard okay so so Tupac sees Orlando they start exchanging words and then Orlando comes back down they they he came he came went up and came right back down yeah what we were going I think we were we were going up and we came down behind it I'm sorry and we were going up okay so you guys go back down behind him and then what happened - that was some words exchanged and then there was some arms feet and hands exchanged so I've seen the video and it looks like POC ran up to the guy and basically punched him and everyone else ran anybody else yeah jumping him yeah for sure that's what's on video yep why do you think Tupac considering you know all the security you guys had around you and all the muscle and you know all the the real street dudes that are there why did Tupac as the rapper as the superstar run up on Orlando Lake you know pop was a hothead he would you know pop was no easy pushover do and I think you know I could just say for myself I the way I came about it I came off a certain way but when you're around a certain amount a certain group of people you start conforming into acting like other people as well and you know I knew that we had muscle behind us death row had the muscle so we pushed buttons and I just think that that's just a choice that he made because he knew that you know it was it was 100 oohs with him that is bad right and they did yeah for sure for sure what else jumped in and general and oh you know got hands and feet put on him so after that what happened next after after that we left out of the hotel and everybody went to the we went to our hotels respective places to the Luxor was we were saying went to the Luxor then we went over to cooks house he had a house in the Vegas as well he went over to the house we went to the house there's a normal routine I remember us meeting back at the hotel and to get dressed and on my way out on my way out of the hotel I had on some cream pants and when I went downstairs to the valet the guy said uh mr. steward you have something red on the back of your pants and it looked like it was like coming from the bottom of my foot all the way like almost to my calf the back back of my leg and it was some red spots and I called [ __ ] I got on the phone I was like I gotta go to the mall I got some of my clothes he's like well uh I'm gonna get your ticket I'm gonna leave it downstairs and you meet us over at the fight and I went to the mall man couldn't get no clothes couldn't get anything cause everybody was closing because of the fight and by time I got back to the hotel to get dressed I found something got to the hotel I called Suge and he's like we on our way already to the fight and I'm on my way to the fight getting there he called he's like man he didn't knocked his ass out such a such a sudden just meet us at the club the fight was like over with so fast and I went to the club which the club 6:16 that shirt on and while I was waiting there I knew that it took a long time but I mean I thought Sherman was just I was just getting more people getting some girls bring them to the club and probably about a hour had went by and that's when uh one of the security guards busting the door and it was like a sugar pop just got killed not when the security some guy chicken pock just got killed on the boulevard and you know I was looking around and we ran out and went straight to the hole to the hospital it was the scene like in the hospital what you got there oh man oh it was people everywhere not that day it was a lot of people everywhere a lot of reporters and a lot of media when I went into the hospital I went into the hospital you know there was even like I remember like a young girl that was dressed like a old lady on the pay phone and she was just really trying to just I guess capture a good story so we were putting people out at a hospital out of the emergency room area and threats were coming in threats were coming in like all that day you know we know it yet we know you downstairs on the first floor you know we don't finish what we started you know just all kinds of calls were coming here I remember Michelle a I interviewed her and she said that the sugar and everyone was crying during this time I can't wait to talk about her but yeah everybody was crying we'll get to the Michelle egg for I can't wait so so she sure gets gets grazed in the head right yep is he is he basically okay within a day or so oh if I'm not mistaken shoot signed himself out that night good you know he signed himself out that night and went into like went into light to me like straight up quick he was really mad but like depressed after he had found out the situation pop was in and he just went to his house and he didn't want nobody to come to the house he don't want nobody at the houses you need want everybody and I was kind of different because I was always around him but he wanted everybody kind of stayed stay at the hospital and stay at the hotel and he just kind of just went went off to herself for about a day or so dare to was about a day or two that he went off there are some interviews that were done where Suge said that he knows who did the shooting but he wasn't going to cooperate with the police did you guys ever have a conversation about that no never never no he never talked about the situation and everything else like that no I mean everything happened so fast after pop past everything happened so fast it's an I think that'd be a great interview to sit on the couch with all of us one day if sugar would get out of jail to just kind of hear you know what the hell happened because I think a lot of us were kind of just you know everything happened so fast what was the overall mood at death row because - I mean Tupac was a very key member but it was still a big functioning record label you know Dre was still there you know Dre was gone Dre was gone and a one-pot dime and I think it it you know it hit everybody hard you know from from the girls at the front desk to the runners everybody can see the heart because uh you know POC was like fossils like families everybody no matter how everybody else feel you know POC was like that's how he act and you still had to respect who he was because dude was a genius like when he talkin I think everybody could could you know could agree with that that wasn't around at that time but real summer movement like you know everything started spurned a lot of paulista started coming around the Fed started coming around just so many things changed so fast so you think that the Tupac getting killed started the the decline of death row oh that was that was definitely the demise of death row the beginning okay the beginning yeah sure get it up go to jail over well over that fight I mean I guess I guess he was on parole and violated parole by because of that videotape yep okay now you were actually at the trial when she'll got sentenced yeah I was sitting right God there was a book that I read a while back called a half gun will travel run oh holy Ronald hole right I think so yeah I'm know his name Ronald row but I call him Ronald ho I'm sorry go ahead my bad you were you were mentioned in that book a few times yeah well it's one of the things that said was that you started to cry when she when she was was oh sure that Trudeau it is very true very true come on seventeen you guys were so close that when you found out I was 17 years older your Guardian was like my deal so he's like my he's like my dad like my big brother for real and and he was just being sentenced for something that all of us thought was some [ __ ] and you know from the the extra harassment that I know that I've got when he when he got locked up the feds and police bothered everybody once she got locked up was that essentially the end of death row did everything fall apart after that no well you know when she got locked up we were in we were in the Bahamas recording the Christmas album and they actually they said they had a warrant out for him when that warrant was released for him to be locked up they made us leave the Bahamas they made us leave they made us leave all our things all of our luggage everything and Exce courted us to the hole to the airport and made us leave the Bahamas and when we that's when one of the guys came in and announced I think butch announced that sugar I've been locked up and we got back to the state and you know everybody was still trying to kind of figure out I remember having Shooks death throat medallion that he had put on me before he left he gave it to me and you know I probably a couple weeks went by they were sweating me really hard his people sweat me are for and after that you know different people started running the label and you could you could tell that you know nobody could get to shoot for a little while and that's when when when they kind of blocked off and there was the inside blocked off people from getting tissue that's when the demise happen that was the situation around dr. Dre leaving death row man you know I I just don't know man Dre was there and the joy was there one one minute and you know then you seen Pok started talking about him so I really don't I really don't know it could be miss yet later I'm not sure so Tupac and Dre did really get along I think I think they got along I think what happened was puck was just really upset dead that Dre wasn't really participating with all of the artists and coming to the studio because every who everybody around it was 150 some artists on the label everybody wanted to work with dr. Dre you know I believe pop could get him in the street because he did I mean he would come in for pocket Snoop Dogg but Dre wasn't coming in the studio just you know recording with everybody that should felt like he should be signed into the label and that's what everybody wanted so I think that that's what kind of turned a little more hate towards him from everybody else you know and I think Paco's is represent there you know man he don't act like family he need to be a part of the family type situation okay what toss it up was a dr. Dre diss record yeah what was the what was the thinking behind that record before you guys recorded it man I don't even know how did like I it took me a long time to notice that's what we were doing this is right honestly you know me I knew Pacquiao said what he said but you know I'm singing about a girl you know I'm singing about a girl in it in KC and Jojo we're all singing about girls in the song so I don't even how did you look at it I don't even know if it go together so to say and after a while I was like oh yeah we knew you know Pok foodie as his Alizee you know cross death road and was like okay now okay I got it but it took a while once I was older I didn't even really realized it then we just this dr. Dre like that it took a while for me to kind of recognize that but for me it was a great song I was excited to be a part of it you know I knew he was taking it from no diggity I didn't know that I did I didn't understand it it was you know we were using the same track and then they made us change it well I heard about that sort of the original toss it up use the no diggity beat but I guess you got a cease and desist or something like that yep and we had to change it I think Jimmy asked him to change it if I'm not mistaken Jimmy Iovine may have asked him to change it because that was there was a song that they were coming out with okay so dr. Dre did the beat and he always go I mean was it supposed to be a diss song over his own beat or what what exactly I guess there was I guess like I say man I mean I'm I was young I didn't know I'm I was having to be in a studio but it was I guess a diss song supposed to be us take his beat and you know let's kill it kill him at his own beat let's kill his beep you know let's let's kill him at his own madness I think it works for sure good I wish it stop I like me real man like I I'm not I'm not gonna wear she'd stop listen I liked Meek Mill but all of this [ __ ] is making you look bad on me I'm saying you should want to be signed a Rockefeller but then he turned into Joel yeah I understand what he's saying but you got to understand how that could be took you're taking a shot at jay-z okay you could be taking a life you're taking a shower and hip-hop be like nah bro you ain't J your Drake which is fine
