hey guys welcome back to my channel if you're more new here my name is kristy and i am going on my third year of homeschooling i have five kids with different age ranges and i will be homeschooling four of my kiddos this coming school year and this video is all about how i schedule out and plan out my homeschooling days so stay tuned [Music] so i use a plum paper planner to do all of my planning for the year i have a video linked down below that i actually did last year i am using the exact same layout of planner i just added a new row to the customizable layout to fit my toddler zoe whom i will be doing some schooling with this coming school year so i am using the exact same planner i absolutely loved how customizable it was and how it fit our needs for what i needed it for i am a super simple planning person i do not plan out specific lessons i don't do anything like that i do more of a reverse planning method and a loose rhythm to our day so we have blocks that we kind of schedule and it makes our days flow but it also allows for those times where things aren't going according to plan so i'm going to show you the inside of my plum paper planner what my weekly layout looks like and how i kind of set up our school day and structure our school day as well as what each of my blocks contain definitely subject to change for this school year but this has worked pretty well for us this past year and so i think i'm going to go ahead and keep the same kind of loose rhythm that we have had and that we are used to so now i am going to go ahead and flip the camera around and show you my planner all right you guys this is my plum paper planner um it is a different design on the front cover from last year but it is the same layout that i chose for last year and i believe it is called homeschool teacher one layout what i love about it and i'll just flip to august if you are interested in seeing how i plan out our year i have a video linked down below that's kind of the part one of my 2021 to 2022 scheduling series if you will um but this is when we are going to be starting school so i'm going to go ahead and show you the weekly layout of each month here so as you can see everything is divided into categories so i have morning kaelin's core work elijah's core work maddie's core zoe's pre-k our family units and any extras that we might have so i divided them up like this because i like to block out our days and i also like to reverse plan meaning that i will go ahead and just record what the kids did for their core work that day the only thing i really plan out ahead of time is our family units so if we're going to be doing science one day or geography or history i will go ahead and plan that out for the week and then just readjust if something comes up and i also um for extras i will write like our read-alouds that we had i took out the read-alouds row from last year so that i could fit in zoe's pre-k column so i'll just show you really really quick like what i do how i write out everything and i'm going to go ahead and zoom in a little bit so that you can see okay so we have august 2nd which is our first monday back at school so in the morning this is what i'm going to write for morning i am going to write morning basket we did not do a morning basket last school year we it didn't really work out for us for whatever reason the year before when we tried it but i am bringing it back this year because i have ideas and i will be having a video coming out soon detailing exactly what is in our morning basket but it is going to be things like our spanish practice bible maybe even doing a read aloud apart from the read aloud that we are currently doing any like practice that i extra practice that i want to do with the kids such as flash cards or geography i'll probably include some of my father's world items in here depending on what is laid out for the day so morning basket is going to include a lot of just family togetherness things like bible just a good way to start the day together as a family our morning i usually have blacked out we get up around six o'clock in the morning just naturally we've always been early risers so from six to about nine is when we will do breakfast get dressed get ready for the day i'll exercise and we will also um start our morning basket probably around 8 30 9 o'clock or so so our morning basket is going to be what leads into our actual school day so for kaelyn's core stuff and i'm not gonna write down anything yet because um like i said i reverse plan when it comes to their core stuff so our curriculum is so open and go i just have them do the next lesson uh for that day and then i'll write down after they complete it and then i'll put a little check mark next to it because who doesn't like checking off to-do lists right so i have la which stands for language arts i also am going to write math handwriting and silent reading these are four of the things that my daughter who is going into fifth grade she is going to be doing on her own for the most part i will still help her out with some language arts things and i will still help her out with math but handwriting and silent reading she can do completely on her own same thing with elijah so i have his language arts his math handwriting silent reading and then for maddie same thing language arts math handwriting silent reading now with zoe i do not want to do anything overly structured she's going to just be turning three next month and so for her pre-k we're not doing anything overly structured this year so i'm going to go ahead and leave that blank and just record what we did do that day and it's not even going to be at any specific time it's just whenever she feels like doing it she'll ask me hey mom can we do abc's and we'll get out her abc stuff and go over it i found that that is the best way she's more receptive to learning and she enjoys doing school so i'm not really too stressed out about that and then for our family stuff so we are using my father's world this coming school year so i am going to go through the my father's world um schedule that they have laid out and i am going to pick and choose kind of what i want to fit into our day so i am unsure as of now like exactly if we're going to follow it to a t or if we are just going to kind of form it into our school day and what we want to do and then for extras i'll just write read aloud and then whatever read-aloud we're doing so um we're probably going to be starting a new book by this time we're currently reading through ramona and beezus right now so i think read aloud is um probably going to be the wing feather saga but i am not 100 sure on that yet so these two have left blank for right now just because i am not a hundred percent sure yet i'm gonna be um reverse planning for zoe and then i'm not 100 percent sure yet with my father's world what i'm gonna be putting in our morning basket and i'm gonna be saving for the end of the day so this is how i block out our days okay so like i said we usually start at school day at nine o'clock so one of my blocks will be from about 9 to 12 is when we do all of this our morning basket and everybody does their core work with maddie i start out helping her when the kids go off to do their core work i'll start helping maddie out because she is well she was the youngest i guess before so he was going to be involved in our school day this coming school year but she's the one that like i'm really like working with with reading and things she's going into second grade so she still needs me to do most of these things and then handwriting and silent reading she can do on her own but i help her out with la and math so i start out after we do are doing our morning stuff i will start out helping maddie out while the these two do their work in whatever order that they want they usually figure it out amongst themselves who wants to do math first because we use the tablet for math so and uh and if they need help on anything specific then i will help them so i just kind of bounce from kid to kid as they need me and then we will break for lunch and the kids will go play and usually around 1 30 or so we will do our family unit and our read aloud and that usually lasts until about 2 30 or 3 and then we are done with our homeschooling day so that is what our weekly daily setup looks like like i said it's not overly complicated i try to make it as simple as possible to record these things we are not required to record like portfolios or anything but i like having all of this information on hand just to look back on and also to take our attendance because that is something that my state requires is taking attendance so it's nice to have this all in one place so like i said i use the plum paper planner it has just worked out so incredibly well for me these past few years and i'm excited to use it again so i hope that this video was helpful to you in planning out your days and structuring your days like i said we are not sticklers for actual like time schedules it's more of an easy flow and blocking out our day in a way that makes sense for us and flows easily for us if you aren't already subscribed please click that subscribe button click on your bell notifications so you're notified anytime i have a new video coming out i have more
