but just understand the glory of God has got your back well glory to God here we are again I'm pastor Jeffrey Johnson senior senior pastor the eastern star church would yet another exhortation from the Word of God to encourage you even in the midst of crisis today it's from Malachi chapter 3 beginning with the first verse behold I send my messenger and he will prepare the way before me and the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple even the messenger of the Covenant in whom you delight behold he is coming says the Lord of hosts but who can endure the day of his coming and who can stand when he appears for he is like a refiners fire and like Lon's or soap in Malachi's time they were going through hardships and difficulties in family in the economy in the community and in the nation there was so much going on and they were praying and asking God for the Lord to show up and Malachi says and the Lord is going to show up and he is gonna appear but when he shows up who can endure who can stand it when he shows up he says because he's going to show up King James Version like Fuller's soap like a launderers soap and what it's talking about is we had to look at this not through the lens of the 21st century but in Malachi as day when launderers went to clean clothes and they would use of course a cleansing agent and they would use that water but sometimes they would stomp on the clothes and sometimes they would use the friction with the laundry soap in order to get it out and here's what that means that in your life and in mind that if we're calling on the Lord we want him to show up in the Lord says he is gonna show up but he's gonna show up with laundry soap and as he cleanses us through the washing of his word but sometimes is gonna be some stomping and we're gonna get stepped on and sometimes there's going to be some friction in our lives it doesn't mean that God has left us it meant he and he came to cleanse us and my grandmother years ago before she bought her first washing machine she would wash her clothes in in the backyard with a wash bucket and with a washboard and grandmother would take that cleansing agent in that water and put those clothes in there and use that washboard with the friction to get the dirt out of it and that's kind of what God does with you and I he uses friction sometime to free us friction to get us to the point of purity where he wants us to be and then grandma would take that clothes and then send it through the wringer that was connected to that that wash bucket and as the clothes went through the wringer the dirt it didn't come out in the friction in the bucket came out in the wringer so the next time you're going through the wringer it doesn't mean God has forsaken you it just means sometime he's got to take you through the wringer to help clean you up and to help clean me up but the good news is the Lord is going to show up and he's gonna get things right and I understand this that if we confess our sins he's faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness let us pray father thank you for your love for us thank you that you hear us when we pray and that you will show up and Lord when you show up whatever you need to do to get us right with friction taking us through the wringer cleaning us up whatever it takes dear God we want you in our situations and I pray to God that all of us will confess the sins that we've committed against you knowing that you're so faithful and so Jess that you will forgive us in Jesus name Amen [Music]
