[Music] what's up guys Jordan from Bennett Customs we're back on another episode firstly just wanted to say thank you for everyone who has submitted in their projects and what they are building at home uh it's been really cool to go through and see all you um yeah the creativity that's kind of going through a few you guys heads and what you guys are creating there's some pretty cool stuff we would like to get you guys to submit what you are creating uh in order for us to pick a winner at the end of the month whether it's car related bike related just anything vintage you know if you're restoring a fridge like we have just something cool for creating a sign like Mr Peanut you know whatever you're doing we just want to know we want to connect with you guys we want to see what you're what you're doing in the shop email in Link in the description or click right here but on this episode we are working on the Hem coup that is over on the Hoist we've done a bit of a switch around I want to get that floor buttoned up finished get those side pieces I've been explaining welded on there in preparation to get the model a 5 Window Coupe body paneled on that frame the idea I kind of have for doing this channel I'm I'm sort of unsure if it's going to work it's work it's working in my head I can see it I can kind of you know I've figured out I got all the cogs turning and numbers going I'm basically in The Matrix uh Neo came in showed me what's going on uh we're just going to play it out and show you guys whether or not it's going to work or not so fingers crossed it does but let's get into the [Music] video all right so if you guys have been following along with the Hem coup you know that in the previous video we were able to get the substructure that Carl from make it custom had created and um fabricated up so now that it's all done and cleaned it's uh it's been um copper coated with a weld through Prime uh again I mentioned I am using the Mig to do this I could use the tig but you know it's just kind of quick and easy to use the Mig to do these plug welds so I'll be using my body weight a little bit in certain areas to hold it down using the cleos pulling a Cleo out then tacking it and working my way across everything I've just sprayed this area with that anti- spatter as well and I'm just working going along just quick zap I got my heat up wire speed sort of out of medium not that it's yeah kind of it's hard to reference off that machine to yours but I'm just trying to get a good hot tack that is obviously going to get great penetration and really fix this sheet metal down to that substructure that we have we don't want to have a huge buildup of of uh of weld on here we're just trying to look for a nice flat um style tack I wish I had this on the Hoist the comi van is on the Hoist but it would have been awesome cuz I could have just been at a nice comfortable standing height but that's okay we will make do with what we [Music] have there we have it so that one didn't quite get all the sheet metal but that's okay we can we'll probably come through and kiss a couple of them with the grinder this is all going to get covered up unfortunately anyways it's probably going to have some sound deing down and and uh obviously this car is going to be fully carpeted and fully painted water Chrome and all the all the nice stuff to make it sort of that um late 50s early 60s hot rod that we were trying to go for oh [Music] [Music] w [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] you know it's a it's a lot of work in order to put all these beads in and try and make it but it's it's more or less you know that that EX step when you do look under the car like I I feel like the importance of under the car is just as important is the exterior of the car I think sometimes it's neglected maybe because people don't see it but that isn't a reason to you know kind of skip a step or or kind of um cut Corners by by means so you know I feel like no matter what the project is what you're creating even if it's like a rust piece you're never going to see do like just do your best that you possibly can um I think that's super important and you know dad always sort of taught me that throughout different projects and and you know not not even car related stuff yeah looks great nice and solid which is good it's going to be pretty dang cool I'm really excited to get the body on let's keep going so we're just going to tack these guys on just to hold that side sort of memor from wanting to do anything or flexx Flex out which is good something like that sweet ready to get pulled off ready to bust my back okay I don't entirely know how heavy this is going to be but we'll just move this guy out of the way I know it's not going to be light and I have hurt my back again so let's just try and oh that's mow woohoo have a look okay let's get it up there right on well that's a little bit more comfortable so what we want to do is be able to utilize clamps where we can I can see in this area like I know that the metal just from our beads is just a little bit distorted so I'm hoping I can kind of clamp stuff down as we go here comes the rain again it's really quiet in the workshop when I don't have music going usually we have music blaring but obviously it's too hard to talk over the music as well as copyright issues for for YouTube so it's always kind of weird when it's this quiet in here especially just when it's myself lost to think about you know [Music] Happ [Music] oh [Music] to lift it up oh my [Music] gosh this guy [Music] down Bo yeah get it sitting pretty where it's GNA go somewhere like that all right let's Cleo this back down into place and then we're going to talk about how we're going to create these sides look at that that's exciting in position where this Frame would sit [Music] beautiful all right so we have the floor spot welded into place to our subframe everything everything's bolted down on both side of the frame rails and what I'd like to do now is create our sides that are going to allow this to sort of sit like the the body will kind of sit over top of it and then we have something to weld the subrails to that are in the coupe so I want to make a little 2-in piece that comes down and runs parallel to the frame itself all the way to the back over the kick up um what I've done was I have these Packers um they're I think they're for obviously the building industry for putting in Windows and all sorts of construction things but they come in handy a lot uh and I am using a 5 mil Packer against the side here that will give me a really nice fitment for the gapping for having the steel up against this there would be a 3 mil piece that will sit up and it'll kind of be a a corner joint like that and then I have somewhere to weld it and I will do a full weld the whole way across on each side so on on this side you can it's hard to see but I've scribed a 2in line across the frame and it goes straight flat right out the back and that is going to be basically where the bottom of the body is going to sit so we're only doing a a mild channel on this at 2 in but it should be enough that aesthetically it'll look really good with the way we're going to finish off both sides of the bottom of that body line that that model A has all right so I need you two to just hold this kind of one maybe yet one on the end and just going to line up our [Music] lines aome so look like we're [Music] [Applause] [Music] and what I'm going to do is just use the cardboard again for a trace you guys have seen me do this multiple times if you haven't there is a a video we'll put the the link in the description below and it's basically going over how to use cardboard as templates with your plasma cutter and it does work whenever you're doing this I'm always using my legs as much as I'm using my upper body to make sure you get a really consistent pull uh whenever you're using the plasma cutter itself the handheld one pushing definitely doesn't work as well as pulling so I'm getting in the position where I'm going to try and drag this the whole way across one hit and then hopefully I can catch it at the same time probably not but it does help massively if you can set your body body up using I use my legs a lot to try and pivot off of to make sure I'm getting a really consistent and smooth [Music] cut oh I'm rolling stone b r come on or I'll be [Music] gone oring rain to hear that train there [Music] [Music] that was really clean it um it worked out really well I think there's a bit of a a dip right there but the good thing is is we we can come back to that if we have to we will clean this up a little bit with the grinder but there we have our first piece so now this piece is going to get welded in like that and that will slide right over top of the frame [Music] take a seat on my all right so we have those five mil Packers in behind our piece so we got that nice gap between the now this is going to be the whole floor structure so you can see what I was trying to do there so a little Notch here for the axle and then everything's just going to stay like this and when the body comes over we'll have something here to weld the subframe too and then on the inside of the a pillar and B pillars we can make a couple little brackets that'll come down and actually pick up the body mount as [Music] well wonder if I should get this on the Hoist [Music] hey guys quick intermission we just wanted to get your opinion we have been designing a new graphic for a new t-shirt and Hoodie design and we just wanted to get your opinion on option A or option b let us know in the comments what you guys think we are going to get these put onto some clothing very soon and we will have them on our website thanks guys back to the episode spent a while in the cold saw got a bunch of little shims made up which I'll be able to utilize these for multiple things I was even thinking for the axle dropping jig I could use these for different sizes we can make them bigger or smaller I'll be able to use them for a lot of things but what I really wanted to do was have them for this little setup so that is perfectly the same distance that we have this overhang of the floor so when we go to put this on it's going to give me that sort of perfect Ed Ed in order to to weld and then it's allowing this to sit that 6 mil off the side of the frame which is ideally what we want nice attacking to the frame was probably the the excellent idea attacking them to the frame so I'm not trying to hold them up yeah but that's okay [Music] [Music] I don't know about you guys watching that look at the coffee shake so bad and I I always forget that when I'm planning on TIG welding I don't usually drink a coffee but I just had a full coffee I got the full coffee shaks [Music] [Music] w [Music] yeah so lots of bouncing around in little increments trying to just do you know small little 1in welds out of time trying to keep the heat down um and it and it kind of worked it never really got to a point where you couldn't really touch it I think it's going to be all right I think for the other side it'll be even quicker I've kind of found the the right sort of speed for campage that I'm using [Music] like [Music] all right so we have it all welded up and I just um loosened off our body mounts to see what was going to happen as far as as uh movement and warpage but it's it's pretty good there was a tiny little bit in the corners where it just slightly lifted but I think once it's fixed back down we get the body on and everything welded up it's going to have no where to go happy I TIG welded it it was really fun nice to just sort of get that flow and that momentum after like repetitive like what's that what's the what's the saying I'm looking for repetitive repetition yeah so you just continually get it you sort of get that like little you know that that feel that bounce the that little BPM I'll call it beats per per beats per minute beats beats per um dab beats per dab so I think we might hand off the camera to Josh who's obviously eating and um surprise one last oh yeah also look look at it look how seasoned that is it looks really really nice it's also got a bag of ham um well we are doing one last run of the midnight Specialties for the car that is sitting right there it is for sale um and yeah we're taking offers got a couple come through definitely mostly from the states which we were kind of expecting and hope it does go there I think it'd be really cool if it kind of traveled across the pond and 30% off the hoodies yep we work jumper it's nice and warm it's uh yeah cooling down over here so and we have a new couple of t-shirt graphics that I'm so excited about and they will be coming out early next month cotton oh right through your hand you should had like tomato sauce all over it and looked at the camera is thisa yeah it looks good if it's a good fade and then the car is still really black cuz it's silk screened well you you hogged all the space so as I thought yeah buddy perfect have a look at that that's pretty so I almost I almost reckon he's better than Kevin Cosner in Yellowstone no that's just tie that back I I don't know man I said it to Casey last night she kind of looked at me and she goes that's not as outlandish as it sounds also you should see the dude's motorcycle collection mant he has he has like 120 motorcycles and he just got a new pan head that's just the sickest oh it's pretty rad oh of my love it's super weird though you got to be into weird [Music] and I I really hope this will work I think it'll work I know it'll work it works in my head so you know it's got to work right I sit down on the stool so you go up I'll go down then we'll flip it righted over yeah look at that gold gold I love gold put it in the skim box sweet very cool we got the sides finished off in preparation for channeling the body floor is basically finished off still have a few holes I'll need to plug up that's obviously from where the the um bolts came through for the wood buck when we were um creating these x's on on the power hammer um but yeah really pleased with how it's come out and I think this is going to work it's got a really nice consistent Gap all the way along breathing room again for sort of paint in that um and then I think once we get the body slid over and fitted I will work on these areas here I've just left it straight so that we can utilize that for for measuring and stuff but this end up this probably will end up getting sort of cut up where we where we bring the subframe up in in that as well again massive thank you to Carl at make it custom uh while he was over here he helped me build that subframe which was excellent it really you know obviously added that structure we needed for it um which was really good and Brad Anderson um uh will put his Link in his Instagram down below uh good made of mine back home uh Wizard metal fabricator as well and he uh he kind of gave me the idea while I was home you guys had seen that I started to make that sub rail section out of that um that 2 by one and was kind of you know using the grinder and cutting multiple times and we were trying to form it and all that and he just sort of mentioned you know what is it look something that's kind of factory and you know I like to um to create things that are obviously custom but things that could be potentially something that would have been done maybe as a um as an experiment from the car manufacturers or or um you know a prototype or a concept or something again we have got through a bunch of sub um submissions of projects that you guys are working on maybe once a month we're going to announce a winner at the end of it and uh we'll kind of figure out you know what happens then but it would just be really cool to obviously see what you guys are building at home um whether it is a hot rod or or something completely different doesn't even have to be correlated send us send us something cool if you're restoring something that's old and vintage or creating a sign or you know whatever you want to send in sub submit some stuff we want to see what you guys are up to at home and what you're creating with your hands anyways make sure you guys like subscribe hit notifications uh again thank you for the support I know I say it all the time sounds repetitive but I genuinely mean it I really appreciate everything that you guys um put down in the comments I learn a ton from you guys as well which is amazing and we will see you next week on Bennett's Customs thanks guys [Music]
