all right well we made it here to the cumbrus toltec railroad in antonito colorado we're uh really excited to do this this is going to be what our third train ride of the of the hall the third train ride yeah this is the fourth one is it the fourth yeah oh yeah that's right that's right we did one in leadville as well yeah so this one was recommended to me uh many times through the viewers on both youtube and uh instagram ever since last year so we wanted to put it on our trip since it was sort of like on the way back through colorado and headed back home we had planned to uh stop here and do this ride and also a birthday trip and this is also a birthday gift from abby yes it is so thank you very much babe she got his tickets to the parlor car so we're really excited about having that there the uh the ride takes us down and i cannot recall the town but we stopped in the town halfway down there and i believe they said they uh they provide lunch for us and then i think it's from there back to the station here so i don't know if they're doing the full entire route uh yet because they weren't offering that whenever we booked our tickets but it is going to be an all day from 10 to 4 30 i believe all right looking forward to it and hopefully i'll get some fun and interesting shots of the train ride for you along the way yeah and we did choose the parlor car so it's um 21 and up so um he can have his beer yep maybe we can drink a beer later later on the day around lunchtime we'll have us a beer happy birthday baby thanks ben all right let's go do this i'm excited i'm ready for it too [Music] so so we got into number 488 coal fired they got her juiced up and looks like they are about ready to pull out of here foreign already enjoying this right here got to see the engine back up and hook up and then the [Music] conductor up there filling the firebox full of coal [Music] almost ready to go board we're gonna be towards the end of the train here last two cars it says the parlor cars well this is pretty isn't it it's beautiful beautiful this is us right here yep three and four three and four yep three four there we go it's a pastry oh what'd they give us so we'll get a pastry and some fruit wow look at this you get a bag too i'll try to get a souvenir looks like a cup oh look at that a tumbler oh very cool let's check this out look at that nice fantastic yeah very cool we're going to enjoy this we are leaving the station this is awesome yeah it is the car is beautiful look at the ceilings yeah very cool here we go well what do you think so far it's fantastic this train is beautiful i love it yeah we're not even into all the the most beautiful part yet we're still kind of going through the valley but we're getting really close so we do have a uh we have a map right here so we've been following the map [Music] i think it's really cool a lot of twisted turns all the way through there and we're going to this right here hosier that's where we'll be stopping at and then they turn us around and they bring us back all right so we're allowed to stand out here on the little platforms outside the car so i'm just gonna try to get a couple of cool shots this year so right now so you probably can't see it from the video but over there there's one of those little tiny cars and down there is another little tiny car so one fall is a half mile behind and the other one is a full mile behind and they are on fire duty they're on fire to make sure and spot if there is any type of wildfire that starts i'm not sure what those guys are right there they look like they might be goats like they're running right towards the track too that might be some kind of deer i just can't tell see i'm right over there abby has a little fun fact yeah our attendant actually told me she said that we would change go over the state line ten times before lunch she said there will be times where the engine will be in one state and our car will be in another absolutely just like right back there we went back into colorado so we're jumping between colorado and new mexico so cool which is awesome all right coming up on the whiplash curve just entered new mexico now back into colorado so that's where we just were right there and this is what they call whiplash curve the aspens are also the first trees that return to an area that has been afflicted by avalanches rock slides [Music] look at all the aspens so we're coming up on the little town of suttle [Music] [Applause] we can't see it from uh where i'm at on the car right here this is that uh that little village called subtle and uh they water up the they water up the tank here all right so we're gonna dry one of their beers we got the uh cumbersome toltec number 168 steam driven ipa and she said that the pro some of the proceeds of that will go to the restoration of that engine very cool brewed locally as well for the railroad here i went banquet she got coors cheers all right so we're moving on from our water stop and we just been enjoying our beer here before we get into our lunch so a couple more points of interest that we're gonna hit on the way there's uh what they call a mud tunnel and then the uh rock tunnel that's gonna be pretty cool there's also the garfield monument so pretty cool being able to follow along on the map right there we got a tunnel there phantom curve rock tunnel and then this is where we'll be stopping for lunch and then they turn us around mom um all right this clip is for my dad specifically that little house out there it's a big house green structure down there so they'll take you they'll either teach you which we know how to but uh they'll take you fishing the best spots yes dad dad come on [Music] so we're coming up on the mud tunnel pretty soon it's going to be interesting wow that is fantastic yeah oh and those are tracy so far nothing 200 feet so coming up is that's the other training that uh goes from chama [Applause] so [Music] all right so what you think that's fantastic of course it has been a beautiful ride so we're in uh was the ozier over here this is where they feed us lunch and they'll go turn the train back around on the loop and pick us back up here in a bit oh it smells good there's their dining hall good looking place and it's going to be a turkey dinner today here's the fun looking meal to give us turkey dressing gravy potatoes beans a roll even some dessert and some iced tea i'm excited this is good this is great well we enjoyed our lunch that was great well they did a good job in there cook some good food and it's all you can eat too they say go back and have as much as you want they had a salad bar and uh but i never even laid my eyes on i had spanish food there too we didn't see that i was on the other bar but anyway they do a good job of filling you up here yeah they give you dessert drinks all that stuff so they got the train turned around now what is that thing called because i love that thing i think it is the keepest i don't know the official name so i'm sure we're gonna learn now i just call it maintenance cars these are the guys that follow the train that uh watch their uh they're on fire firewatch speeder or a motorcycle okay it's feeder or a motorcar cool speeder or a motor does that mean that it goes really super fast so it looks like he's got something on there maybe if in case he finds a fire yeah he'll have something to immediately work with that's the most precious thing that's cool so they said if we um walk down the tracks here we could see a few more of the structures so we're going to check those out and we're going to be listening for the whistle yeah so we don't miss this train well she was right she said it is windy up here it is it feels nice there's one of their water tanks here pretty cool holds 50 000 gallons of water fed from an underground spring it says well it says the elevation is 9 637 feet in denver's 318 miles away from here and then this is the uh coal platform there that building right there was the uh depot and also the location of the telegraph they do a good job they got a lot of plaques out here so you can learn about the history of this place it's so beautiful out here and remote very far away it's been a wonderful ride just uh really just sitting back in the chair and just looking out and seeing the mountains and the beauty of the fall colors really has been awesome another look at the engine here 488 before we go get back on our car yes it was now we're going to be facing the opposite side from before we made it to the back of the train we're just gonna have a little fun out here hopefully uh see the uh the rock channel here in a minute so the gorge is there the rock tunnel should be right there on that that corner so we're getting close all right here's the tomb so that was fantastic so wanted to come out here and stand on the uh the open car and enjoy it for a little bit and we'll get a couple videos for you as well you kind of see the transition from the uh the plush mountains to the right there with a lot of the aspens and we look over to the left we'll start getting back down into the high desert areas well we made it back to sablette must be going to be doing a water stop here start to see the valley down there now there's some of the uh tracks there we came in on so we're getting close to home probably just get a couple more shots for you to share here on video i've just been enjoying the ride so i know you can't see it on the uh video it's really hard to make out okay but out there is going to be alamosa and beyond that behind it that is the great santan national park really cool to see that because we went there during this trip and really enjoyed that but sand dunes straight out ahead there this has been fantastic temps are right we've got the breeze blowing through the windows here we're almost back at the station one thing about coven that is fine the gaps they're only uh doing like 50 capacity of the train this just feels really nice so it's five o'clock we're almost back let's get some dinner and it's time to go get some dinner so well our ride is over wow it's all done we're back at the antino ancinito station i don't know it doesn't matter yeah we enjoyed it it was wonderful it was it was really wonderful it was a great ride beautiful scenery through there through the mountains the uh the high desert going into the mountains it was it was everything was beautiful did you get to see a bunch of antelope antelope we saw the same herd i don't know what they call when they when their groups uh going and coming out there in the uh the valley that was cool oh you have your cheese i took my mask off we had we had to wear it all day yeah so we're done with the train yeah we enjoyed it come and do it yourself it was fantastic thanks for all the suggestions for everybody that's mentioned it i have read probably a couple hundred comments on riding this train you have to do this you have to do this you have to do that yeah well i mean it was in the plans but uh that's it we're gonna go into town and try to find some dinner at one of the local diners in there all right see you guys later
