Big Haul 2020: Amarillo, Texas

well our colorado and utah road trip is now officially coming to an end i'm happy what's that i'm happy and sad well we we've certainly had a wonderful time here in colorado and utah both yes we've been out here for a while we've enjoyed it but uh it's time to get home and we're both excited to get back home yes we are and uh get back to the kitties get back to the normal way of life yep so we did two yeah we need to get back and uh get some stuff done get some stuff handled so we're about to hit the road yep we are all packed up here we're still here in antonito colorado because we did the train yesterday and we are headed to texas we will probably have a couple overnight stops along the way uh headed home and hurricane there's a hurricane about to hit uh louisiana again this one is hurricane delta i believe delta it's supposed to hit tomorrow so that may put us back we may hold back like an extra day once we get down in texas and i'll let that storm kind of go through louisiana and move on before we continue on all the way to florida there yep and alabama looks like louisiana is going to get hit the worst though but uh anyway we're about to roll out i'll have the camera in case we do anything fun along the way home but from here it's pretty much just a uh just a steady drive home i have something fun and we'll tell you about that later yeah and we're back to flat well kind of kind of flat there's some mountains still i have no idea where we are so we're actually we are actually in uh new mexico now yay we're about three hours out and uh and we're in new mexico and then uh so that over there is an old volcano it's actually a nice a national monument i don't know what it's called now but that's one of those places where we could go and get another cancellation stamp but there's a lot of hiking trails there and we want to do those we really don't have it in our agenda to go and visit a place like that right now and i don't want to just pull in there just to get a stamp no i have my crocs on today i want to spend some time if we go to a national monument i agree with the greens but it is cool because those those kinds of places are everywhere along your when you're driving like this you'll just see these little signs in there you know that have some kind of historical significance to it which we love but uh you know we finally got out of the rockies now we're in these uh lower hills down here in new mexico and we are on our way to texas yes we are yeah we are actually going to amarillo texas and i think we're going to try to get a steak abby found this uh steakhouse she was like digging around looking you know and she found the steakhouse that looks pretty cool and she actually promised me that she was gonna get me she was gonna buy me a steak dinner for my birthday yes so birthday was yesterday so maybe we'd do the steakhouse tonight in amarillo yes because dinner last night was fine but it was not a birthday caliber dinner it was just something local we were ready for dinner i didn't want to cook but it was still fun we enjoyed it yeah but we'll uh i think this is a very big touristy place but the food's supposed to be really good so we're going to give it a try because it looks awesome and hilarious maybe it'll be good we didn't have any luck coming out here fine at steak dinner i think we both know that it's just going to be a bomb sticks that are the best and then there's good steaks out there you just got to find there's a lot of people know how to cook good steaks we're going to work on it so we'll uh we'll show you what the campground looks like there in amarillo it's just an overnight stop pull it in there we're gonna sleep take off the next day and keep on driving that's exactly right yep we made it to the amarillo koa this is the uh spot that we uh picked just to uh stay overnight and in the morning we're gonna pack up and we're gonna head on down the road even further but it is a it is a nice campground out here i will say it's in a it's in a very industrial area i know the airport is close and there's industry on both sides of the campground but the campground itself is very nice uh very nicely organized they got a lot of pull-through sites they have uh back-end sites they have a pool they have the bath houses so they they've got it set up real nice here so we're only just uh we're just doing one night i didn't even hook up the i did hook up the water hose but that's all i'm going to be hooking up because we're going to be using the bath house tonight anyway but this is what it looks like here koat amarillo texas pool is closed right now probably the covid thing we were just checking out the uh the bath houses here they're actually really nice aren't they really nice yeah very clean yeah very nice i think i'm getting my shower here tonight yeah it's a nice campground just got to keep in mind it's located right next to the airport oh so are you tired i am tired i'm tired of driving there's a fly in here sorry we're gonna do an early dinner it's uh it's almost 4 30 but we figured we'd go and uh drink a couple of beers and then order steak so it's also because we're going to the biggest tourist trap in amarillo so early is the plan i didn't know anything about this place until abby told me about it it's called the big texan the big texans steakhouse and brewery i believe it's called the home of the 72-ounce steak i think it's the place where if you eat it within a certain time they probably give it to you for free that's true we did see a couple of billboards uh so we'll not be trying that oh we're not gonna do it i'm not it was birthday dinner so i thought oh oh i see it's birthday dinner you got to go big right you're in texas all right fine all right all right let's go get there this is everything i hoped it would be look they even have truck and trailer parking truck and trailer parking huh look at that let me drive through here so you can see it yes it's bigger in texas oh look we can't craft a beer in our beer garden would you look at this place never did i realize it was gonna be such a thing the public is invited come one come all the big texan everything's bigger in texas it's a brewery it has steak for you you're welcome yeah this is the big texan brewery brewed on site this is what i wanted right here we're not telling them what's your birthday i'm sure they do ridiculous things no it's not my birthday but we can we can celebrate just you and i tell me that you don't love this already this is great let's go i'm gonna have to get a t-shirt let's go do it come on live stream on bigtexan.com a shooting gallery wow look at this place this is crazy they got a sweet shop right here a little pledge over there gift shop tell me that this isn't your new favorite place this is crazy this place they told me that you don't love this place see that home of the 72 ounce so the stage well you see the timers up there so that's where you have to sit if you do the challenge and uh he says if if you do the challenge it's 72 bucks but if you order it and just have it brought to the table here if everybody share it it's 200 they want people to go up to the stage they got a nice looking tomahawk right there look at that oh did you need a minute are y'all ready to order oh we're gonna we're just gonna take our time okay all right i'll swing back bye okay thanks oh look it's it's a double deploy yes we do so it's the same on this side i don't i know they're all different rattlesnake ipa yeah this one's the com border raspberry wheat we got five we have five different i'm sorry 10 yeah inside there to try that's cool right there it's exciting the beer sampler and they're all brewed right here right on site that one good too yes we've been over here sampling that one's the box beers very good this one was called whoop your donkey 9.1 percent alcohol and then the whiskey barrel stout is 9.22 so those are two of the stronger ones right there the rattlesnake ipa is good too one of the best beers i've ever had really what is it it's pecan porter and it's the pecan porter i saw that you're gonna like that it is very pecan incredible well we're going to enjoy this it's like yeah brown sugar molasses chocolate and pecans cool you haven't tried the heaven wise and yet have you no that's this one here abby likes to have the wiser thing very citrusy it's good i don't like it as much as that one or this one raspberry the raspberry wheat meguiars in pensacola makes a raspberry wheat that's very good so we're gonna just enjoy our beer and figure out what kind of steak we're gonna get probably ribeye and filet i just imagined that's about all abby likes is the place here's the stage that you sit on if you're gonna do the uh 72 there's the timers and i got the grill right over here okay i went to the store here and as you would expect based off the way this place looks it was amazing and huge and had lots of jewelry i got him a prize two stickers we got a sticker for the camper sticker for the camper sticker for the fridge hold on hold it let's see so we got one for the for the camper and it's the route 66 symbol and this is for the fridge right because we are took in the beer so it's a brewery and then i bought myself i ordered the uh rattlesnake ipa just just saying okay this is the t-shirt i got you ready look at that yes who does not love willy i do i'm so excited that is awesome this is a great birthday dinner by the way yes i was just getting ready to say that this is a good choice so which ones you get raspberry wheat that is a delicious beer the raspberry wheat and then the rattlesnake rta is good too it's not too hoppy it's not like a double it's good you know how you have those days where you realize that you're about to go off the rails like in a really hardcore way this is that place this is it yeah because you get two sides i'm gonna eat my steak i've already laid my eyes on a dessert i'm getting something to go because the cake was like the size of the slice of chocolate cake was the size of a regular cake that's pretty much how it was so but i have to have it and um and this is gonna be it's it's a celebration it's a celebration people need to remember just because you're gonna order that piece of cake don't mean you're gonna eat all that one time you eat a little bit you save it it's we take it we take it with us i was gonna point out that the uh filet comes as two five ounce cuts it sure does and we could definitely share that we really could we could share that but i don't want i don't want the filet for dinner no because i'm going to have the filet for dinner tomorrow i would prefer to go with the tomahawk but that's just a little bit too ridiculous right now maybe for your birthday meal you can i was going to say i was going to go with the duke 16 ounce bone-in ribeye it looks really good i bet you it's good you know it's delicious i just think that tom walks a little bit too a little bit too much i mean if it looks like that it's gonna be good but you have to save room for one steak fry because oh yeah you get two sides you get two sides so we were like talking about the sides i think i want to try steak fries because i have not had steak fries in like ages they look really good the neighbor has thick fries they look good and then uh beef steak tomatoes with red onions sounds like a veggie it sounded good i just i i can't eat all that i'm just here for the steak and i eat about half the steak and i'm full you don't even need half of it no but i save it for breakfast burritos here it is so i think i made a decision it is my birthday meal yes it is abby said i should order what i want and i think it would be disappointing if i did not order the tomahawk of course you're going to talk about the video in the content right so tomahawk tomahawk bonin ribeye it's got to be medium rare yes sir is there any other way no there is not tom we don't do well done did you show tom what it said on the menu i already sent him a picture it says well cooked throughout no juices dry that's what it says about well all right medium rare warm red cinnamon perfect that's how we like it right there yes yep all right so i think we're gonna go with tomahawk wow there it is right there got that tomahawk on look at that i had to come up and get a video of it man oh yeah nice all right so we see it's over there cooking got the tomahawk on the grill get the pit masters over here handling business i'll go back to the table and finish my beer and wait for our tomahawk to get to us all right so we just got back from the grill you guys saw look at this right here so there's the veggies look at all those rolls they smell insane and i'm trying to stay away from them i'm not eating any of that because i want to eat my tomahawk save yourself but it was cool i just missed him throwing it on the grill he just do it i was walking up i saw him taking the thing did you do it exactly like you said oh yeah straight out of the fridge i did not see your fillet because that comes oh give us right because it's gonna take two seconds to cook it okay i'm excited why'd you turn it on here we are talking at the same time you said i don't film enough i need to film more i think the viewers want to see you film more and talk more than me i don't think that's true but we'll give it a try how's your beer the beer has been great this is the red and it's delicious that's great i had the this is the red we had the the blonde and we had the flight before that they're all great i'm still drinking the raspberry wheat and it is incredible and the rolls are still there i did i did get my veggies that i ordered with the steak this is them but look if i if i eat this if i slice into that that's it i will not be able to eat my steak so so we're waiting the food should be here waiting on the tomahawk and i'm really excited for it to get here i think it should be just any time it's going to be anytime the steaks are coming i cannot wait it better be good i'm going to be upset i hope it's good too it's gonna be okay this thing is hilarious look at that monster he ran to the bathroom he's gonna hate that heap here's mine cute and smaller looks good though hello steak fries oh he's gonna be so excited i will film his reaction when he gets back okay oh look the snake showed up of course when i was gone look at that thing it better be cooked right yeah it better be all right let's try it all right do it it's looking good i'm about to try it though oh yes it's looking like it's cooked right it is it's like a dinosaur leg you gotta do it right it's actually decently good his mouth is full and so he cannot speak but he's enjoying it because he's not giving me the look that i'm used to seeing when he doesn't appreciate how the meat tastes it was a lot of bites that was a big bite no because you were excited it's good it's good okay all right we're gonna we're gonna eat our meal and we'll come back and give you a uh a synopsis of the event we'll let you know we got more to see in here i agree i just wanted to make sure that everybody saw that abby was happy with her steak too there's there's the rib there i'm sorry the fillet and it has a really crispy crust which i like and the sweet potatoes delicious it's really good they come with two they gave you two two two yep two five ounce flavors i won't be able to eat but tomorrow leftovers yummy yummy steak breakfast burritos that's what this guy will be making wow you caught me abby's enjoying the uh the big fat yeast rolls and i think her steak was good i cannot see it because of the aluminum foil here but she looked like one of the five ounces yep and i'm going to save the other one for tomorrow you got one five ounce left over that's gonna be leftovers all right and just to show you this is what i've this is what i completed of the tomahawk okay so we got the we got the bone there and then we have we have the text messages dinging behind us constantly over and over again and i'm sure they can hear me but uh so here's what i have left of tomahawk right there taking it home this is going to be leftovers for the next couple of days right there it was fun and just so everybody knows this is the very first time i have ever ordered a tomahawk steak out at a restaurant it was for a special occasion it's for a birthday happy birthday baby abby said get what you want and i had and i had to try it and it was good it was good and the sides were good too you got the steak fries yeah those were good i did not eat the uh vegetables right there it's just too filling for me cheesy potatoes were delicious cheesy taters were good sweet tater was good and i got the horseradish sauce delicious good we've enjoyed it we've had a good time here we've had a lot of beer not too much but we've we've ordered a couple beers we had the flight and the steak has been awesome this is great it's been a fun birthday thanks babe happy birthday i appreciate it all right so abby insisted on getting some desserts here we showed you that earlier when we came in look at the size of that it's just it's like the size of my face that's one slice of cake all right and then birthday boy i picked out the lemon tag they said that they make this here in their kitchen so i got the lemon cake i'm gonna need a bite of that oh look at that they made it look good happy birthday baby thank you i love you i love you too it's been a great birthday dinner this has been a lot of fun and i really enjoyed it i know that this place is um super touristy but it's fantastic everybody that's here is a tourist and we're having fun i don't care what you think i don't either it's so we're enjoying ourselves i only got a willie nelson t-shirt i've had a great birthday yesterday was a train and today was a tomahawk steak we're gonna go back to the camp we're gonna put on the ball game we're gonna sit outside and we're gonna enjoy the rest of the evening because you see we're early birds still daylight out there there's a kitty out there i see a cow's butt i'm gonna go take a picture by the couch because why not you gotta take some growler's homework no no one of them is a gift yep that's for my daddy he's gonna love it actually this one's mine right here that was yours and then this one is for your dad steve right here yep this is the uh pecan porter he is gonna love it they put it in this really cool bottle with the flip top lid right there we're going to get them on ice this one is the uh the ipa the donkey the donkey donkey ipa but they're really cute the growlers are great yeah i'm taking this home i'm not drinking this no we're gonna take it home and i'm gonna enjoy that on the back patio yes sir i cook my own steaks [Music] and hopefully my dad will let me have a taste of this because that's phenomenal we'll have to come over that now i might have to grill something here we got you this but we want some absolutely can you see the sunset the sunset let me get let me get between these dodge mirrors right here oh wow look at that oh that is nice that is pretty and just because it's there i really do love cavenders we can so we're not here promoting cavenders we're here to see the sunset but we did enjoy our steak here yes at the big texan steak ring this is totally worth coming to if you come to amarillo it's a total tourist trap it totally is but a lot of fun it is a lot of fun it's great i think we had a blast and there's a lot of stuff that like i didn't show you when you walked through there they had the uh like the shooting gallery place you can go there and you can shoot the guns kind of like carnival style they had the bar in there you could sit at the bar they got the gift shop i mean you see this place is huge we had a great time here yes we did thank you for the birthday steak dinner babe i appreciate it happy birthday thank you i hope you had a good one i loved it i'm gonna come kiss you but not on every bit of it oh i'm getting kisses turn it off right
