Cultivating with a mule. Plowing

[Music] if you want to see a handsome man go with me to sand he'll play that feeling while you clap your hands everybody's happy in [Music] s everybody's [Music] good evening all we're here with Dolly today dolly is one of the 12-year-old Belgian mules that I've had forever um and we're going to cultivate the cane patch today we plowed it out last week it was real dry and then it come in pretty hard rains and it got pretty weedy and I'll show you the Cabbage here too it's getting weedy too but can't hardly go down through them no more so it just have to be what it is same way with the ters but cabbage are making some pretty good heads so it won't be long we'll be cutting them so let's get the cane plowed this will probably be a real short video cuz as you can tell I'm by myself but we'll give her a go dolly dolly easy the purpose of cultivation is to get the weeds out obvious l h h step now huh right there you walks good and slow whoa and uh you can ho them when you got both hands and a good slow walking mule so dolly easy H little good girl for for oh oh no for for for for oh oh right there as you can tell we're we're getting her slowly but surely missed a little spot right there pretty bad and the rest of it might have to be H it's a whole lot less weedy down on that end down there but we'll get it it's a real real good time of the day to work it's about 8:00 and uh good and cool let me put these lines on going go down through here again hold do oh girl let try to show you this it's hard dolly easy hard to get all you want to get with one hand H easy going get just as close to that close to that stuff as you can easy dog easy now down this way and back up the other easy old Dolly's a good mule I tell a little bit about my mules ain't been on no videos save the logging video and maybe some of that miscellaneous PL video but I've had these mules since they were just 2 years old I was 19 or 20 when I bought them and uh oh and they're 12 now so we've been together a while but not who who who not too bad for a one handed job up through there it's not too bad for a one-handed job see this ends a whole lot cleaner but me and Dolly aim to get her before dark so maybe we'll show you some toward the end we're going to get to plowing now folks this right down through here is what a freshly cultivated row of sarum cane should look like throwing dirt to them and covering the weeds up in between them this fall when this stuff gets mature sugar content gets up in it we'll take and cut it and squeeze it with the mules we and make sarum syrup out of it for for for for o all right folks we're about done with the cultivation of the sarum field tonight and I I didn't really get to show you all I wanted to show you there there's a whole lot more to it than what I was able to show you by myself and well there'll be enough cultivation in this field to maybe I'll have somebody with me to help me but anyway see this big Clump right here when them tin they'll get full as long as you got dirt going through them you're plowing good but they will get full especially if you go through a place like down there on that end it's real trashy down there but they'll get full and they don't do much good apping you see right back through there where I missed a little you got to take and dump that and I mean you can just imagine us going down through there and get full you just quick up and down dump it then you go right back to plan and see the difference from behind that Clump where it did get clogged a little to right in here I mean a world of difference but we've about got it this will be the last clip of this uh we got one two three four maybe four or five more row to go then we're going to call it quits and head to the barn but uh got a late start L mm man if you're watching this shout out to you no not from a late start but Lord come put shoes on the mules getting ready to go on the wagon train so appreciate Lord for that we got shoes and still got the job done so all right people I hope you enjoyed the video and we'll see you again as soon as we can have a blessed day
