Elgin it might look nice but it's absolutely freezing this is a really interesting place it's a former Royal Borough Cathedral City but unfortunately we're not spending long here this morning we're just changing from the train to a bus and it'd be nice to find some breakfast as well it was warmer yesterday [Music] you're freezing aren't you yes people of Elgin where do we get a breakfast roll and a cup of coffee we were going to sit in somewhere but the train was a wee bit late so we don't have time for that foreign this is more important than catching the bus isn't it keep your priorities right here here Elgin bus station and it's one bus great question time where are we well done where are we going Cullen what are we eating in Cullen Colin's skin [Music] it's getting busy here it's here it is it just gets colder it gets yeah [Music] [Music] here we are in Colin just about five and a half hours after leaving the house and we're passing under one of the famous viaducts just now but ironically a train hasn't passed over there since the 1960s we're just backtracking down the hill to where the bus brought us in because there's a beautiful view out over the part of town I think it's called sea town but you've got all the little Cottages nestled closely together I suppose that's by Design because this can be quite a stormy place with all the rooftops and the chimneys it's absolutely gorgeous still a bit icy here careful I was fine until I would try to test it is so cute look at her okay what we came here for the soup but I didn't quite appreciate how beautiful this Village was foreign she can always find a beach it's so cool down here getting lost in the way streets beside the beach and a place that I bet hasn't changed for hundreds of years foreign [Applause] trip to Colin and this whole stretch of Coastline query needs lots more exploration look at this fella he's having a good time he looks more like you grumpy [Music] formation here I came out of the sand and no coincidence we're just around the corner from portnooki and that's where you'll find the bow and Fiddle which oh wow that sun which is a really cool place to go as well that is awesome up to the top when you go yeah you first and we've got some Surfers out there as well someone's getting very jealous waves today good ladder it's just like 10 past 12 midday so that's as high as the sun's going to be getting and this week Corner in Northeast Scotland lunch time in this and the tragedy snow was born here in Cullen and hence the name Colin skink and it's made of three ingredients smoked haddock potato and onion and it stems from a time when the meat that you would normally put in soup was in short supply but there was no short supply of haddock in these parts and that's why we've got Colin skink we've booked a table at the best place in town for Colin skink and that's the rockpool cafe just as well we phoned ahead imagine we traveled all that way got here and there was no tables no that would have been typical [Music] ready for some lunch I'm very ready for lunch especially for the office please keep my hand on because my hair is amazing [Music] oh look at that worth the journey eh [Music] instead of the proper way as well a big chunk of bread perfect soup isn't it no hanging about you've got to get the seat I'm so excited about this seriously yeah we better have everything on the spoon [Music] that is incredible did you try it before Colin school never never and how are you feeling about eating white soup because you don't like quiet stuff I don't normally like it but because I think they put a bit of milk or something in it do they I'm not sure I don't know I'm not really sure how it's made we should try and make it sometime but it would never be as good as this there's so much stuff in it so I had this soup before I bought in an alley preheated microwave not quite the same thank you if everyone was a soup it was worth five hours Journey this is it doesn't get any more authentic than this does it [Music] the brands will be excited about six last time [Music] after you thank you thanks so much guys see you later bye oh that was just jacket I didn't expect it would be so freezing can I just see look at their Christmas decorations it's a fishing boat that is the coolest Christmas lights I have ever seen love it right you better be going Harbor it feels like we're in a naughty hurry now that's because we are oh that's super it just gives you a nice warm feeling inside doesn't it it does yeah it's perfect for this part of the world now of course you're not really going to see it on camera but just beyond this head on here to the right of it you can see the very northeast coast of Scotland so that's up towards Wick Johnny Groats Thursday you can't go any further north than the Scottish Mainland than that that's quite cool I didn't think you'd see that from here the Wall's a bit that thick I can't go up there what's up now you like us might think it's a nice clear sunny day today but according to the locals we were speaking to it's like this 365 days of the year all right I found another one of those pet cemeteries we saw one not that long ago along the coast in lossy mouth which is not too far from here it seems to be a thing in these parts for Pepsi what do you think it's very weird do not allow pets to file in Cemetery that'd be their ultimate Mark of respect wouldn't it so there we go folks dusk is about to arrive and so is our boss home but what a fantastic day up here on the Murray Coast in the northeast of Scotland it just went too quick though we didn't even have time to get to the Kirk we didn't get to Castle Hill so we definitely need to come back here and do some more exploration there's so many cool little fishing villages and towns on this Coastline we'll be back so what would you say was it worth it 10 hours round trip for the soup ah of course it was every time so folks
