Creek Fishing With Natural Forage

well good morning folks I'm here to do a little bit of kayak eyo vco it's are currently about seventy-five degrees this morning the water here in the Flint River which I'm actually in the city limits of Huntsville oh by the way this is my third time that I've used the kayak the first time I ever have was right here not too long ago but this is my third trip second trip to the Flint River as far as using the kayak my intentions today let me use a big word is to do a species assessment the first time I put in here first time I've ever used the kayak I caught some pretty good fish but basically it was about trying to get used to this kayak and get the feel though well I have the feel good little kayak that I have especially for situations like this my intention today is to see if we catch some bigger fish so we're gonna fish totally different than what we did the first time so thank y'all for enjoying the sport as much as I do by watching ok let's go to work now this is a ten-foot Pelican I think to beam with this 34 inches which is a little wider than most kayaks I like to feed because it sets up real high I got a Magellan paddle got the kite got it all right here's all you need in a place like this matter of fact folks it's necessary I mean this kayak to me it's just like it's a - that's what it is there's a lot of places you can't get you don't have no way of having good access to a place and this is the way to go right here I don't know what I'm trying to say but y'all know that's all that counts but what I'm going to do my focus is to use my energy this morning and go up this creek or river they call it the Flint River to me it's just a feeder Creek basically it feeds into the Tennessee River there's narrow parts and there's wide parts but they call it a river so that's what it is well just leave it at that and today I'm gonna be focusing on the Depot's and I'm gonna do my best to catch me some manners or minnows and we're gonna see what's in here for real I've heard but I don't know that there's smallmouth in here and it sure does look like good smallmouth habitat to me I wished it was a little bit rockier but we may find some rocky areas on up but I'm gonna go as far as I can and then we'll fish back towards the ramp all righty folks I finally called enough bait to start fishing I had a hard time I don't know why really well the Menace that's in this shallow area right here in the water is about that deep I did find some in there Creek shiners it is the species of men I'm gonna be using they are not flashing there where I can see them under the shaded area so I had to really creep around to find them in the kitchen but we got enough now what we have right here and I'll show you yeah what we have right here is not very far from where I put in but it's a deep deep hole right here right in behind us and we have a little creek this one that's branched off the main Creek and one right here that's splitting a little island right here and they're both coming together like this and then at the junction point of that we have a big tree behind the tree is a curve and we'll go on out there and see if that's where the fish are but what I'm intend on doing is paint to that tree in fishing that curve because the water is really deep right there water is real low so I'm wanting the fish to deeper areas let's see what we can do right here hi yeah he's no telling what's in here we're gonna find out I'm a little bit excited about it tell you the truth well I'm a whole lot inside about it but well get on out in here and do it to it Oh Versalles got a wide gap between his two front teeth and the reason is is cuz they used to eat a lot of peanuts alright folks I found it excellent looking spot right here to catch fish who can big old men around nose and was chunking out there if there's gonna be a big bass anywhere he should be right here there's about oh I hope that's a good fish I'm gonna let him have it a little bit folks I saw big man order right there let's try that too big he's got it again don't see there he's right there I missed him let's see if I see and I did catch a bass in here old boy oh I knew it was a good spot place yeah kid made him fight much folks I missed him out there and then I missed him I start reeling it in I thought he got to got my mentor off on the side a little bass like this made me excited but that's the way I'm it that's the way I am to pump me in a new place but that's a little spotty bass can't talk I love this stuff what makes this a good place right here and I knew it was when I seen it or had a high potential it's because of this Creek - right here now this Creek right here on this point behind this tree they are some big and I don't know what they are they're either bluegill redbreast sunfish or they could be shell cracker but they're being we're going to have to get a hook in one of them but let's let this one go come on back and I got a couple more manners in here and I'm going to roll master shall ready go Oh me that's bigger than that yeah what do we got right here could this be a smallmouth Orion tickled to death right here look here a smallmouth they are smallmouth of this Creek now I'm proud to catch that look is there look at there look at there so it's true there's smallmouth in this Creek and all always times we should get hard to two months ago he's thoroughbred small jalle fish whoa whoa folks that's not much of a smallmouth and I know it but I was told hey Richard there's a few small mouths in in this Creek if you can find them you can catch them well we found one and we done it the simplest way folks you can do it and that's with the forage that they have in this Creek they're used to eating it if you won't know for sure if there's certain species ain't that pretty much letting go that is a smallmouth okay Heys rabies back there he goes I'm so far away from where those Mena's are where I called and it was so hard to catch folks I may have to catch us a fancy show too if y'all don't care all right folks all I done was change reels change reels this is a summer 2000 which I fish with before called a casting reel I keep forgetting the name of it it's kind of a funny name well four pound test and I put it on the same rod ACC crappies did five and a half footer and then here I have me some red worms so we're gonna make the trek back you know folks the truth is I told bursal one time and I meant this from the bottom of my heart I said I told him I said don't be a doubting Thomas you never know until you try okay there we go that fish had its time he hit the water we got ya now that's a pretty good little bluegill right there over the restraint lug you hope you didn't swallow my hook let him have that worm Purdy clean fish let's let him go all right everything a little bit about this Creek I know it's full of them little bluegill like that yeah that seems to be the spot right here at the hanging tree about right in there let's make another cast there's another one that quick ones pulling another one I tell you what folks you could absolutely fill up a five-gallon bucket just right here where I'm at that's a northern strain bluegill I found the mother lode right here and all it is there's a leaning tree right here and I'm back in off the river kind of like a little canal off of it or cut you might say and it is full let's make a cast right there see it's just I mean one after another another buggy now most of these are not really eating size like that one he's a little small but if he was hungry you could eat I would his scaling cut his head off frame up you told about good eating eat the fins and all now delicious eating little fish but ma catching no great bigness well they could be there it's just a little noise are too aggressive and these are not being fish these fish are just that thick in here they're weaken their weight go now I'm excited look here folks come on in here it don't take much excite me does it shell cracker or ready or sunfish last one I wanted to catch to put on my species assessment that's a big word really really necessary is big go words that's pretty fish oh my goodness come here boy hahaha bad because folks is a horsefly that's eating me up let's let him go he keeps biting the back of my ear I'm gonna go back in here y'all don't care that's paddle up just to leave further you know old Clarence told me and it's really none of my business but folks he's the one that told me Clarence said that his wife don't shave under her arms whoa I mean let's just focus on another fish that's disturbing a little bit to me on it whoa whoa my goodness never again well that fish jumped all over that worm I didn't even have time to talk folks at all you just boom a lot of these in here like I said a lot of absolutely full of them less the main they all here cast right there you never know one never knows there's a fish owner there folks I made it back and I want to introduce y'all to a couple of my dogs there she's that littlest we've got two and we plan on breeding them in having puppies and Bella's what five months old six months old so we're gonna catch her up right here and let y'all look at her moong dhal he's the male ballerina she's the female now folks uh we like to lost this puppy right here what she did is she swallowed a penny and it poisons her system and if it wasn't for reigns for Animal Clinic doctor trots office she'd been dead her tongue was just as white as their fire and her gums it was some kind of what was it called anemia type situation yeah something about the blood sales wasn't working right but we got her back I would have hated that but uh well there they are my masu that's right everything is about to lower didn't today I made a mistake the Flint River is not the type of river that you can paddle up very far here to give you out the best way to fish a river system like that is to make a float trip the next time I fish it that's what I'm going to do so I really didn't have a real good show of fish because of that but we did learn that there's smallmouth largemouth and spotty bass they all exist in the Flint River Huntsville Alabama but the thing about it is I've seen two fish it was over three pounds could not catch enough bait to catch those fish so we call it a few pan fish to
