Create an Interactive Excel Dashboard In Under 3 MINUTES!

a guy's Jonica Lucia from my summer mine and I'll be human a challenge this week my fellow Excel bloggers have said that I cannot create an Excel dashboard in under three minutes and I'm going to show them wrong today what I'm going to do is create a pivot table and pillage our Excel dashboard in under three minutes so I'm going to create three different pivot tables from that create three different pivot charts and then put that on a dashboard and include a couple of slices connect those slices and hey presto we're going to have a dashboard in less than three minutes okay so what we have here is a normal data set we have the columns that include the customer products salesperson sales region sales date sales amount sells year sales month and channel plans so this is a a normal data set and all the way down here there's about 580 rows of data okay so from here we're going to create our three different pivot tables three different pivot charts and from the weekend they're connected and do a dashboard in here okay so on the top right hand corner I have a timer just to make sure that we beat this time okay so I hope you're ready I'm ready okay let's press play and get started okay so go to insert pivot table new worksheet and first when I do the top five channel partners Chun putters and sales matthew matt' okay right click sort largest to smallest then from the valley filters choose top five okay so we'll have top five and the pivot table tools options pivot chart let's choose a column chart let's just get rid of all this here okay click on their control X and control V and let's just place it in here okay so that's our first one now the second one we're going to do to make weekly sales distribution so go to insert pivot table and new worksheet so first want to get ourselves date you here and our sales amount now I want to see the number of transactions so we're going to choose a count and in here when I'm group the date by weeks so choose days and number put number 7 press ok and it shows us the number of transactions per week let's insert a chart a pivot chart and insert a line chart that's the rid of the information then once again control X and then control V and let's just put it here in here and make it a little bit bigger we may be too big ok ok so we have that let's just reduce this a bit and here we are next one last one go to insert pivot table and your worksheet we're going to do here our year-to-date put you to that sales per sales person so sales person in the column labels the sales amount in the values area and then the sales month in the row labels now women do a running total in or year-to-date choose volatile settings show those as running total in and our base yield is for sales months ok go to options pivot chart and you use a 100 since that column chart so we have that here control X in here control V ok so we have they're listed with of this let's make this nice and big from in here we'll select the pivot up we can go to analyze and it's up slice up we're not gonna serve the excels here themselves month ok so first of all the cells here in there and then the cells month in there and then going to connect the the slices to the pivot chart right click pivot table connections let's click all the boxes that's all the pivot tables do the same thing for the other slicer and press ok nine seconds left okay now if we choose the year or the pivot charts change as you can see there there you go you know minutes it's being done all right that was close okay so as you can see here you can create a pivot table dashboard in under three minutes and you can show these key metrics to your boss and I'm sure that they're gonna be very proud of you and they're going to give you a promotion if they don't they can send me an email okay so you can see here 2012 2013 2014 you can see the different stats there and also let's get rid of that and we can choose per month okay or we can just select all these months in there okay and we then go by here as well so there you have a that's a quick tip on how to create dashboards in under three minutes I have a couple of extra videos I have an hour-long tutorials on pivot tables which you can click at your screen now and you can see that or you can see more in-depth tutorial on pivot tables and how to create a dashboard that's a little bit longer and it goes into more detail now you can watch this again if you didn't pick it up not a problem it's you to be good pause a replay and if you have any doubts just send me a question on the each of comments make sure you like this you share it and I hope you've learned a lot and I'll see you next time okay
