water is essential for survival but did you know its unique characteristics can be used to perform some awesome tricks whether you're just bored or want to be the life of the party these 10 craziest water tricks will blow your mind number 10 reversing Aero illusion for this trick prepare a clear empty glass a piece of cardboard with two arrows pointing in the same direction and some water place the empty glass in front of the cardboard in such a way that you're still able to see the arrows through the glass now slowly pour water into the glass and watch as the arrows change direction you've just witnessed the reversing arrow illusion exactly how did this happen this neat trick is due to two concepts refraction and the emulation of a magnifying glass when light passes through an object it bends in this experiment light has traveled through air the glass the water the back of the glass and the air again the filled glass works like a magnifying glass as light passes through it bends toward the center which is the focal point as it goes past it the Rays pass through each other and what used to be on the left is now on the right and vice-versa voila number 9 water that defies gravity gravity is a fundamental force that brings everything down to the ground today we will attempt to defy it with anti-gravity water the materials you need are a handkerchief a wineglass a bowl and water start by draping the handkerchief over the glass and then push the center of the hanky down into the glass fill the glass three-quarters full by pouring water into the middle gently pull the sides of the hanky down and grip the ends at the bottom of the glass stretching it across the glasses surface flip the glass over the bowl as there may be a few drops of water gently pull the flaps down and look the water doesn't flow into the bowl despite how I describe the trick I didn't really bypass the laws of gravity instead the trick used a different concept called surface tension the holes in the handkerchief became very small when it was stretched tightly and then the water molecules began to bond with each other creating a thin membrane that prevented it from sea through number eight superheated water that doesn't boil everybody knows that when water reaches a certain temperature it should boil right in this trick will show you that it doesn't always happen here's what you'll need get a microwavable clear container water the microwave a cloth a pen and a steady hand half fills a container with water and then heat it in the microwave until it's expected to boil you'll notice that it doesn't boil at all protect your eyes and hands as you bring it out using a cloth covering the mouth of the container and be careful not to make any sudden movements now drop an item like a coin or pen into the container poof it suddenly boils what just happened this is called super heating microwaved water is undisturbed during the heating process thus it doesn't form bubbles similar to the previous example surface tension prevents movements of the water molecules that is until intervention occurs such as dropping an object into the liquid that's the only time it will boil magic no science number 7 liquid movements here are two tricks you can do both tricks will need small identical glasses and a card for the first trick fill one with hot tap water mixed with red but preferably yellow food coloring the second one should be cold water with blue food coloring cover it with an index card and tap the card gently to form a sort of seal then tip it upside down and position it above the hot water glass slowly pull the card just enough to create a small opening between the two sit back and watch the trick unfold as the colors mix if you enjoyed that one then try this second trick you'll have to use colored water and a lighter liquid such as whiskey cover the glass with water with a card and then put it on top of the whiskey glass gently pull the card to create a small opening and this time they change places the colored water goes to the bottom and the whiskey goes up they may be using different liquids but the principle is the same wait the molecules in hot water move faster and as thus it's lighter than cold water that's how it forced its way upwards and made the colors mix in the second experiment water is heavier than whiskey that's how they swapped positions number six the plastic bag and balloons that don't leak I think it's time that we moved on from glasses for these next two tricks I will be using plastic and rubber with water the first one requires a sealable plastic bag some water and sharpen pencils fill the bag halfway with water and then seal it well poke a pencil into it and all the way through the other side feel free to add more pencils if you like you expect it to burst right but it didn't the reason for this is because the plastic is made of polymers which allows it to change shape when you poke through it the molecules hug the pencil creating a watertight seal which prevents it from leaking for this second trick we'll be making a fireproof balloon if you just burn an inflated balloon it will pop just like this but with water that all changes half fill the balloon with water now for the test hold a lighter under it and lo and behold it won't pop amazing right the reason for this is because of the water itself the water absorbs heat thus the rubber doesn't get as hot and can withstand the flame for longer number five pepper scatter trick if you want to fool your friends into thinking you have magical powers perform the pepper scatter trick it's easy to do but the results are very noticeable what you need is a shallow dinner plate just enough water to cover it ground black pepper and your secret weapon detergent pour the water until it spreads throughout the plate sprinkle ground pepper onto the water and then have one of your friends dip a finger into the water nothing happens right this time you do it but discreetly coat your fingertip in detergent first and then touch the water the pepper scatters away what's the secret behind your secret weapon well water is repelled by the detergent molecules causing the water molecules to spread out almost instantly this movement is best shown by the ground pepper proving the signs behind it number four turning water to instantly here's what you need to do place a bottle of purified deionized water into a bucket and put three kilograms of high surround the bottle or one-and-a-half kilograms of salt over the ice and fill it with water up until the bottles lid check the temperature of the water using a thermometer and once it reaches negative 8 degrees Celsius carefully take the bottle out of the bucket prepare a clear mixing bowl with ice cubes in the bottom gently open the cap of the bottle pour the water into the ice and boof the water freezes instantly this is called super cooling and occurs when there are no impurities in the water water needs impurities to crystallize that's why it remained in liquid form not until it hit the ice which starts the freezing process number 3 glow-in-the-dark water we've always been fascinated by all things glowing in the dark no rave party is complete without it that's for sure but if you're planning to have such a gathering you won't have to spend a lot because you can make your own don't believe me here's what you have to do just prepare some tonic water a clear container ultraviolet light bulbs and a room that can easily be darkened put the tonic water into the container and then simply go into the dark room turn on the ultraviolet light direct it to the container and voila who would have thought you've created glow-in-the-dark water now this one's pretty simple to do but the science behind it is quite impressive tonic water has contained within it the chemical called Quinney and this is a key element in the experiment under ultraviolet light quinton absorbs light energy resulting in an excited state and emitting a bright blue color that was easy right number 2 water sphere water is classified as a liquid as it flows when poured well what if I told you that you can create the illusion that it stands still allow me to show you with two amazing versions of this trick the first one looks like a frozen water - not until you poke your finger into it and then you realize it's just a steady stream of water the second one is more dramatic and enchanting a bottle is placed under a faucet where the gentle water directly hits the cap creating a water sphere when you intervene with your finger the sphere opens up like a force best of all if you light the water source and dim the lights it will be illuminated in an awesome way what's the best explanation behind waters behavior here this is actually what you call laminar flow and occurs when a fluid flows in parallel layers with no disruption between them the stream needs to be relatively slow gentle and flowing through a small channel in order to achieve this amazing feat before I reveal the most outrageous example in this list I'd like to remind you to subscribe to be amazed we upload amazing fact-filled videos every day so don't miss out on learning some amazing new information also hit that Bell icon for notifications on more amazing fact field videos number one bending water and light you're all familiar with a Nickelodeon animated series Avatar The Last Airbender right now what if I told you that you're a descendant of Katara you're a waterbender you can prove that in two ways first let's start by bending a gentle stream of water all you need to do is get a dry balloon and rub it against your hair at least ten times and then slowly bring it close to a thin stream of water coming from the faucet you'll notice that it bends towards the balloon how is it possible well after you've rubbed the balloon against your head electrons from your hair collected on the balloon this then creates a negative charge and attracts the positively charged water simple but cool let's take it up a notch this time we will bend light using water what you need to do is fill a transparent bottle with water mixed with a few drops of milk direct a laser pointer into it in such a way that it passes through the bottle now make a tiny hole on the dot the laser makes on the opposite side of the bottle the laser bends with the stream this is called total internal reflection it cannot pass from the dense water going to the less dense air instead it follows the stream bending with the water similar to the wave fiber optic cables work which trick did you find the most entertaining do you have other ideas you'd like to share let me know in the comments down below
