[Music] [Laughter] today on country cast we're going to be hitting the top-10 of country music and its most intense feuds between artists our top ten includes a slew of artists and I'm sure you will be shocked at some and others you will tell yourself oh I remember that one alright well let's get right into it coming in at number 10 is Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner Porter Wagner had a television show in the 1970s where Dolly Parton would share the stage and from 1967 to 1974 she would share the stage and the show with Porter but would leave in 1974 for bigger performances and after the split between the two Dolly wrote I will always love you for Porter but Wagner he had other plans and in 1979 Porter Wagoner filed a lawsuit for a breach of contract surrounding three million dollars in an interview with the Los Angeles Times in 2008 Parton had this to say about Wagner I worked with Porter Wagner on his show for seven years and he was very much I don't mean this in a bad way so don't play it up that way but he very much was a male chauvinist pig certainly a male chauvinist he was in charge and it was his show but he was also very strong-willed that's why we fought like crazy because I wouldn't put up with a bunch of stuff Dali and Porter would eventually harmonize their relationship and she would be by his bedside when he passed in 2007 at the age of 80 let's face it Porter Wagner did help dolly jump start her career now moving into number nine it's two mullet we're in 90s country boys that's right Travis Tritt versus Billy Ray Cyrus Travis Tritt released a book in 1994 titled ten feet tall and bulletproof which would also be a title to one of trips records the book would cover the comments made about Billy Ray Cyrus's hit song achy-breaky heart and how it was taken a little too far tritt explained in his book he was just an honest man answering a question honestly when he said the song was frivolous and doesn't really make much of a statement and another derogatory comment made by Trent in 92 about achy-breaky heart was that it was an ass wiggling contest but in 1993 it was clear billy-ray had yet to accept an apology from tritt where Syrus was being presented the award for favorite country single he made a jab and said as far as I'm concerned to those people who don't like achy-breaky heart here's a quarter call someone who cares as you know here's a quarter call someone who cares is one of trips hit singles Syrus and trip would make amends and by 2002 they would perform together at a tribute show for the country outlaw legend Waylon Jennings I think this feud personally should have been settled by a mullet growing contest for number eight on the list it's the man in black Johnny Cash versus the infamous Grand Ole Opry Johnny Cash and the Grand Ole Opry had their feud back in 1965 after the walk the line singer broke out the floor lights to the stage the Opry was not too happy with Cash destroying the stage and in 2003 Johnny had this to say in an interview with 60 minutes I don't know how bad they wanted me in the first place but the night I broke all the lights on the stage with the microphone stand they said they couldn't use me anymore so I left and used that as an excuse to really get wild and wound up in the hospital with my third time I broke my nose god only knows what Johnny Cash did that night and the Opry knew they couldn't refuse Johnny Cash I mean come on it's the man in black and before Cash passed away the Opry encash reconciled and he was allowed to perform back at the Grand Ole Opry the number-7 feud involves a Hank Williams this feud surrounds Hank the third who is Hank Williams Jr's biological son against Kid Rock and I'm sure everyone has heard of Kid Rock being Bocephus son well that could have easily been mistaken when Hank Williams jr. would regularly refer to Kid Rock as his rebel son Hank threes relationship with his father was not the best between a son and his dad and in an interview with the Chicago Tribune Hank 3 said the only thing his dad had ever bought him was drumkit however Kid Rock would deny the allegations of him being Bocephus son but the rumors would continue to be spread and when the rumors were like wildfire Hank 3 would be bothered with the question about him and Kid Rock being brothers Hank 3 would eventually release a song titled not everybody likes us the song lyrics would read just so you know so it's set in stone Kid Rock don't come from where I come from yeah it's true he's a Yank he ain't no son of Hank that song made it clear that the two were not brothers and Kid Rock was not the son of legendary Hank Williams jr. and now to number six Luke Bryan up against Zac Brown this one is interesting because of the current sound that the Zac Brown Band has on their most recent record and some of the songs that they have been performing live on their recent shows Zac Brown took it upon himself to speak on Luke Bryan single that's my kind of night by saying in an interview with the vancouver canadian radio station j.r FM that Luke Bryan's single was the worst song I've ever heard Brown continued and had this to say about country music that was on the radio there's songs out there on the radio right now that make me be ashamed to be even in the same format as some other artists to me country music has always been the home for a great song if I hear one more tailgate in the moonlight Daisy Duke song I'm gonna throw up however Brown tried to save himself with following up with I love Luke Bryan and he's had some great songs but this new song is the worst song I've ever heard stars like Jason Aldean would come to fight Luke Bryan's battle and in 2013 at the CMA Awards Carrie Underwood would sing to the melody of why can't we be friends to the two and tell them there needed to be no feud between them because you both have made great records and you're both millionaires Luke and Zach seem to be doing alright as of now and we'll be moving on to number five the number five feud is old school versus new school Ray Price and Blake Shelton Blake Shelton seem to have said what was on his mind but he may have said a little much and a great American country back story interview Shelton had this to say about old school country nobody wants to listen to their grandpa's music and I don't care how many of these old farts around Nashville are going my god that ain't country well that's because you don't buy records anymore jackass the kids do and they don't want to buy the music that you were buying legendary singer Ray Price was not too fond of what Shelton had to say and responded to Facebook and wrote it's a shame that I have spent 63 years in this business trying to introduce music to a larger audience and to make it easier for the younger artists who are coming behind me every now and then some young artists will record a rock-and-roll type song have a hit first time out with the kids only this is why you see stars come with a few hits only and then just fade away believing they are God's answer to the world this guy sounds like in his own mind that his head is so large no hat ever made will fit him stupidity reigns supreme and Shelton would turn to Twitter where he was unhappy that he had upset one of his all-time favorites and the tweet read whoa I heard I offended one of my all-time favorite artists Ray Price by my statement nobody wants to listen to their grandpa's music and probably some other things from that same interview on GAC backstory I hate that I upset him another part of this tweet read I absolutely have no doubt I could have worded it better as always ha and I apologize to mr. price and any other heroes of mine that it may offend it I meant every word I said so who do you guys think is right about these statements made between Ray Price and Blake Shelton and moving on to number four the feud of the chief mr. Eric Church and Miranda Lambert and a rolling stone interview back in 2012 Eric Church had some choice words about reality singing competitions the record year singer said honestly if Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green effing turn around in a red chair you got a deal that's crazy I don't know what would make an artist do that you're not an artist Lambert at the time stood up against Church since she was currently married to Blake Shelton she responded on Twitter by saying thanks Eric Church for saying I'm not a real artist or Kelly Clarkson Carrie Underwood and Keith you're welcome for the tour in 2010 Church responded back on us weekly and said the comment I made the Rolling Stone was part of a larger commentary on these types of reality television shows and the perception they create not the artist involved with the show's themselves the show's make it appear that artists can shortcut their way to success as you know Carrie and Miranda both came from these types of shows and clearly deserve to be in the spotlight but the chief knows the hard work to make it big time without the little push that they may give and now getting into the top three with number three involving John Denver and Charlie Rich at the 1975 CMA Awards rich was introducing the nominees for Entertainer of the Year with slurred speech surrounding alcohol he then randomly asked Loretta out on a date when attempting to open the envelope to announce the winners when at this moment rich would pull out a lighter and set fire to the card that held John Denver's name the burning of the card has been connected with the protest against Country moving into the pop genre but according to Charlie Rich jr. on Charlie Rich jr. calm he explained that the burning was induced by possibly pain medication and alcohol and it reads anybody that knows anything at all about the history of my father will know that it simply wasn't in his mindset to judge someone for not being country enough blues enough rock enough or anything enough maybe something like this will happen again to add some excitement to these award shows and getting into number two two of country's biggest stars and two of my personal favorites Garth Brooks and Waylon Jennings Waylon Jennings was not one to hold back when it came to Garth Jennings was not fond of Garth Brooks and all in 1994 Jennings was interviewed by The Enquirer where he had this to say about Garth Brooks I think he's the luckiest sob in the world he's gotten more out of nothing than anybody I can think of I've always accused him of sounding like mr. Haney on Green Acres Jennings is pretty funny Garf spoke on Jennings and how the to never even met in 2014 Garth would do an interview with the taste of country where he stated no never met mr. Jennings and for some reason man I guess I was the guy that he targeted you know it's kind of weird because all the people why I'm in the business those people say the reason they were in the business was Weyland so everyone loves him and he's a legend and I just kind of let it go I never knew what to say and the basis for Jennings hatred towards Garth was that he didn't believe gar sound was that of real traditional country music I gotta admit friends and low places is the off time karaoke Jam even though the two of these guys have classic after classic now last but not least is the number-one feud and this feud is a few that will never be forgotten and ended a career for a period of time and that's Toby Keith versus the Dixie Chicks back on March 10th 2003 lead singer of the Dixie Chicks Natalie Maines would make these infamous comments about President Bush at the time at a show in London and the comment was they were a shame the President of the United States is from Texas within that week country radio was banning their music then the man himself Toby Keith stepped in and would use a picture of Maine's his face with Saddam Hussein while on tour Mane's would respond with a t-shirt that red fu TK and I'm pretty sure you guys can figure out the meaning behind that but that was not the first lash out that Toby Keith Mane started controversy with her comments on Toby's hit song courtesy of the red white and blue by saying it's ignorant and it makes country music sound ignorant Toby Keith is such a good guy he would make amends with Natalie in August of O 3 where he had a band member who was losing a child to cancer and that would be relevant to them making amends between Keith and Natalie according to taste of country Keith made a statement where he said I saw a picture on the cover of Country Weekly with a picture of me and Natalie and it's fight to the death or something it seems so insignificant I said enough is enough I don't think we'll be seeing fu TK again on any t-shirt sold anywhere and Toby and Natalie seem to be on a good path well that's our top feuds in the country music business and all for today's video so make sure you hit that subscribe button down at the bottom and turn those notifications on for breaking updates on your favorite country artists and all the news coming right out of music city y'all stay country
