and they think that's very important that number one pit stall Jeff yeah the other thing is important is starts and restarts every race here we see incidences on the front straightaway cars get jammed up cause accidents get damaged you do not want that to happen on lap one we'll see how they do as the fans retreated to a Monday afternoon race here in New England we're racing a magic mile [Music] [Music] thank you you're gonna see those big bumps coming into turn number three affecting these cars saw it there as they exit four for the first time and it's Bell Truex amarola lagano and Blaney all in the top five the now three wide back here off to Dylan in the middle and that number three a little contact there and the 16 of Allmendinger had to catch it here comes the 19. Truex Jr trying to take the top spot away from Bell Martin was super fast in practice Bell pretty quick as well but Truex they said he fired his car up before the command today so you know he's ready to go here in New Hampshire crossover move kept Bell in front of Truex there at the start this is a really tough pass to this racetrack you would think the bottom Lane is the fastest but not always here that second third lane you just saw the 19 Car Truex has more banking in it a lot of times more grip you saw Truex use it to make that pass yeah the guy on the bottom just struggles to be able to get to the throttle to accelerate where the guy on the outside has that ability you see Truex driving away from the 20 here put a little distance there and Joe legado easing into this battle for second place in that 22 car let's take a look at Alma Rolla on the first lap here's the start yeah down into turn one and just kind of slides up takes every bit of real estate available in front of the 45 luckily the 45 allowed him the space a little bit further back in the field you see Chase alley in the nine to three right there on the bottom Austin Dillon the 47 that blue Kroger car Ricky Stenhouse Jr this battle this whole group is just outside the top ten is that 11th spot in that white and green number 16. there's Haley in the 31 on the inside of three wide again and there's a little contact on the front straightaway between the 31 and Todd and the 38 there a lot of three wide racing back in the field it's pretty tough back here you see that shot right there gives you a understanding of how much side by side is happening outside the top ten and I think there's really a little bit of strategy being played deep in the field we're expecting a competition yellow around lap 30. I look back and I see the eight Kyle Busch start in the back not really going anywhere Ty Gibbs slowly moving through traffic are those cars saving a little bit of Tire do they plan on staying out of lap 30 or will the leader stay out in front of them there's Michael Mcdowell in the 34. and he's working to the inside of that three right here Danny Hamlin on the inside of the two Austin Cedric and he struggled a bit in practice the four cars well Kevin Harvick seems to be struggling a bit with his car up the racetrack Chris butcher down on the bottom of the racetrack in the blue 17 trying to take that spot off a turn two talk about in practice and how the cars drove in this track is going to change drastically so if your guy's not running well right now don't panic there's no rubber on this racetrack from all the rain and it's going to change a car that drives poorly now could be really good later in the race easier said than done Jeff if I'm a fan I'm panicking for Harvey looking to the outside here trying to go three wide around Cedric Cedric almost gives him the room it's right on the front bumper of Kevin Harvick's machine this shows everyone at home those scenes you talked about a couple days ago guys between the different Paving lanes and how deep and grippy they can be and take another little look at it here like there's one of those big seams and how it affects the car three lanes of good asphalt and above that's old worn out asphalt you definitely want to stay off the older stuff but there's seams in between each three of each of the three grooves on the bottom the darker asphalt right here has very very big seams you just got to drive right across them you can't sit on top of them through the corner comes William Byron in the 24 going by Bubba Wallace so Byron up to the seventh spot and that's an interesting pass to me because the Toyotas had been more dominant here over the past definitely had good qualifying in practice speeds good to see the Chevrolet there Byron's Car the Hendrick Chevrolet moving forward RFK top RFK bottom the six of Brad Keselowski battling for nine to 17 of Chris butcher a little bit further back paddling for 17th I thought Brad looked really good in practice this is a race that I think a veteran like Brad could kind of show up and win maybe not raw speed he wasn't quite faster than 2X and Bell but if you get Brad a subtract position he is not the type of driver to go make mistakes he would be very difficult to get by we want to welcome buildsubmarines.com on board that's the onboard camera that we're taking a look at really interesting build submarines.com it's actually a hug for people interested in joining this generational effort which will sustain individuals and families improve communities better equip those who serve in America's navy.com and Rick we thank them for this incredible view of Brad keselowski's he tries to get by Daniel Suarez here to get the ninth position back you know you guys talk about how the racetrack is changing Steve also a brand new tire for these crew chiefs to deal with I talked to Brad keselowski's Crew Chief Matt McCall before the race today and he said you know it's a really interesting Dynamic you know there's a lot of cards clearly with a lot of front end speed but this softer tire is supposed to fall off and degradate through the run so much Steve that there are some people are really focused on the end of the run and making sure they were better there so how tough is that challenge for crew chiefs when a new tire is thrown at you at a racetrack I think the challenge a new tire is always a challenge but the challenge to me is do I believe this we've been trying to find a tire at New Hampshire that has lost a lot of speed and been a requirement to put on under caution for decades now this flat race track you know they do lose grip they do slow down they do get slippery but every caution it seems like they cool back down and they take off and new tires just aren't a big enough advantage to drive through the field today will be the test have we got a tire soft enough that you must come to Pit Road or you can drive through the field and make passes it's going to be interesting to track the exit to turn two so far I've seen a lot of guys have trouble and that's not uncommon Tyler Reddick right here sideways off the corner and we've seen multiple drivers have to completely come out of the gas over there and lose tons of momentum it's a very tight Corner hard to leave with the car going straight you're having to turn and that makes it want to spin the rear tires let's listen to what they had to say [Music] avoid it was weird I don't feel loose all right coming out all right so that's great radio I don't feel loose I didn't know that was going to happen and that's loud in a nutshell you're leaving turn two you think everything's great you got a lot of wheel in it you go to the throttle next thing you know you're chasing the back of the car if you can get off turn two here that is how you win races speaking of winning races Mark trucks Jr would love to win here at New Hampshire hasn't done it yet it's the Nascar Cup Series crayon 301 on USA [Music] foreign [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] 30 percent pods.com today make sure to follow at Bush beer on Twitter and tweet hashtag break for Bush hashtag sweepstakes during every commercial break for your chance to win 2500. 21 laps complete remember about nine away from that competition yellow around lap 30. it'd be interesting to see who does what and what adjustments are made we have sleeved the slipping and sliding so we've listened into a few different radios and we've heard some people say you know evil uh not handling well so obviously a good handling car they don't exist in New Hampshire just lose that concept of one driving good at this place that's what I would have told my driver this week I laugh and I say that kind of adjustment but not really it's real simple these are all driving bad some are just driving bad faster than others so does that mean nobody's gonna come to Pit Road oh no people are going to come in because I do think you can help your driver make it drive better but Junior Jeff I mean you agree like no one out there says oh my car is doing everything I wanted to do because if it does something good you try to go a little faster until either the front or the back slots yeah you drive the car to the limit of grip neither One's Gonna Slide the front of the back and there's some great battling here between the five and the two here Jeff the four gets around the two now the five is trying to make that happen drives him up the racetrack yeah this this is a great example of how hard it is to pass a five is completely underneath even you just don't have grip on that bottom Groove and Larson's trying to get him up the racetrack and they make a little bit of contact he's going to see that all day hey that's just good hard racing it looked like Cedric didn't want to give him any of the racetrack so he stayed in his position maybe a little bit lower than he normally would have exited well he's losing positions and he's trying to stop that he's trying to find himself somewhere he can find some consistency and he's going to try to keep this fine behind him it's allowed the 41 a priest to drive up into this battle he's definitely one of the fan favorites here he's from Berlin Connecticut and you see how far away the force drove from this pack and the five watched that and he thinks in his mind you are holding me up even though I can't get underneath you right here I think if I can get by you I'm gonna be able to drive away that brings up the intensity a little bit if they do get to battling again side by side you'll see Larson be even more aggressive this guy right here Kevin Harvick struggled right off the get-go a couple laps but now getting in the back of the 17 and Chris butcher four cars trying to move forward he has the speed to do it the competition cautioned about four laps away so everybody trying to get as much information as they can that they'll tell their team what kind of changes they want to make for the next almost 40 laps to end stage one Harvick's so good here has a really unique line a lot of guys everybody goes into the corner up the racetrack he stays in that third Groove all the way around on Corner exit watching the leader here Truex and you see the Gap back to the 20 car Christopher Bell one second in second place leganos faded just a bit we see the Xfinity fastest lap turned by Martin Shrek's Jr it happened on lap five 30.518 seconds and average over 124 miles an hour really amazing I thought they slow down to just under a hundred miles an hour in the corners here it's so flat from two degrees to seven degrees of banking in the corners yeah and what all the teams and crew chiefs drivers are looking at right now is how far how much speed are these tires giving up competition caution and just a few laps Martin Truex Jr that fastest lap to what he's running now is about three quarters of a second so new tires could be important Dave Connecticut born Joey Logano a lot of fans in the stands for him today saying right now that the car is just needs to turn when he's off the break rolling the center of the corner those adjustments will be made on this upcoming stop straight away the 31 car or the 16 AJ almendinger has spun out off the turn two traffic crazy fine but I can't tell I think left rear is down left rear is down he was running 11th so he had had good track position didn't lose it didn't lose too much track position was able to get it going for relatively quickly quickly chance that this is going to end up being the competition caution as well he's sideways early don't know if he got the left run up on the apron there trying to exit low but the car comes around really quickly the drivers have said that you know once you do get out of shape it's it's very difficult due to the uh the low sidewall on this tire it's hard to catch this thing as it's starting to spin around on you and you don't have that side Force that's straight right rear quarter panel they've had for decades to help you save that car a spun running 11th and he's cycled back around in 15th so it's not that bad of a loss for a spin no damage just caution gives Noah Gregson a lap back he was the highest scored lap down car yesterday actually Saturday was his birthday turned 25 so he gets the free pass well NASCAR Fantasy Live lets you keep tabs on your fantasy lineup throughout the race and also allowing you to adjust your picks until the end of stage two you can visit nascar.com fantasy or select the fantasy icon on the mobile app leaderboard to make in race changes [Music] I think you're gonna see a chunk of cars come to Pit Road but it wouldn't shock me to see someone stay out or to see a variety of number of tires maybe it's not automatic four tires I know there's a little more fall off but the Field's so close the real question is if you are on Old Tires how well can you survive the next 35 or 38 laps that may be too big of a challenge that may be the point nobody wants to stay out on Old Tires Dave lagano gives up third position now he'll get at least two fresh Goodyear tires and Sunoco fuel remember when he gets off the brake center of the quarter wants the car to turn better Marty Martin Truex Jr and Christopher Bell the teammates say they're way too free on entry and on exit as well talk to Adam Stevens Chris crew chief Before the Race he told me he felt like this number one pistol that they got after they won the pole this may be one of the most advantageous on the entire NASCAR calendar you see William Byron flash by two tires stop there a number of teams taking two tires four tires here for Chrissy favel there's a race off Pit Road and Steve you mentioned it a couple guys trying the two-tire strategy and gaining a lot of spots once again racing on a Monday in New Hampshire so many great historic moments that have taken place around this Racetrack and remember crustacean loud in the lobster will be in Victory Lane at the end of this race foreign [Music] all right [Music] [Music] [Music] Sports coverage of NASCAR on USA is brought to you by it optimization consultant crayon navigate your digital future with crayon Sonic two for seven dollar do you for a limited time only at Sonic Liberty Mutual insurance only pay for what you need and by the new movie Gran Turismo it's done a true story only in theaters August 11th two by two once again and this time coming up close to us there in that Kroger 47 is Ricky Stenhouse Jr he stayed out on the racetrack Bayern will be on his inside pressure two tires they did a two-tire stop as we're back to racing now with only 37 laps to go in stage one look at the move right along the double white line Martin trucks Jr got a little loose coming off of two can't stay in front of the 24. William Byron out in front of the field 24 of William Byron did not give Ricky Stenhouse Jr much option but to give him the lane in one and two he knew that those old tires on the 47. I think with the 47 stayed out he's running inside the top 15. I'm very confident uh that Mike Kelly the crew chief on that car thought there would be more people behind him staying out he thought he would have some protection the spotter here right right there yeah both sides both sides Stevie Reeves is like both sides yeah back here it's just crazy how much aggression there he is to try to take advantage and put people in bad situations to be able to take spots a lot of three wide racing back to the field on the restarts oh almost contact right there Brad not intentional but you know two cars going across the racetrack you would think that when you put new tires on they just Blast Off with tons of speed but they don't these cars at this racetrack slide around a great deal on new tires and it's the best time to pass so a lot of aggression and bad handling cards typically adds up to some contact s Christopher Bale quite a bit of track position during this cycle pit stops hard to get back up through there as is legano keep talking about turn four turn two well look at the four car Kevin Harvick leaves the corner thinks everything's fine now all of a sudden the car is sideways he has to have a big lift and everybody Stacks up behind him and at the same exact situation on the very first start of the race Jeff something I'm sure he's telling the crew they need to work on now with contact there Daniel Suarez there's good Pace in that four car for Harvick and once the Run gets going but on cold tires on restarts he's had his hands full it's 40 car 47 car of Stenhouse continues to fade back to the field he's hoping it will level off at some point everyone else is trying to take advantage of him while he's on those older tires yeah the other car with a bit of a gamble out there is the 51 of Custer he put on two tires so all the crew chiefs are watching to see what can happen with those cars track position or new tires which is better well if you're William Byron you think two tires are fine as you're leading the field but I think that might tell you how good the car is the 20 of Christopher Bell you mentioned the lost time during the cycle Dale Jr but in the end it was a right front so watch the right side up it looks normal but then you see the Jackman drops the dragon leaves and he sees the front tire changer still tightening wise Jacks it back up you cannot tighten these wheels with the car on the ground they Jack it back up they tighten the right front tire to make sure it's not a bigger issue you see right here over four seconds lost nearly five seconds lost between uh the 20 and the 19 is now we see more three wide and the 47 continuing to try to find a way back into traffic and stop the bleeding of these old tires see the 54 car Ty Gibbs on the bottom of that battle he was very fast in practice qualified essentially dead last his pit crew just did a great job of getting him a lot of spots on that stop and he had a good restart so now he started dead last and he is in 15. good drive toward the front of chop thinks heating up for the lead as Martin trucks Jr looks to the inside of that 24. it's been interesting to see how he can complete this pass gonna try to back up this entry to one an entry to three here three by five Outback other than 23. now he's trying to throttle up accelerate on Corner X and turn the car underneath not able to get even close to that 27 car Byron is Byron of Justice line oh 47 car on the wall seemed way up the racetrack not sure if he got the fence Jeff but he was up the track quite a way he's he is fading quickly to the back of this field only a few more spots before he's at the very back struggling with the balance of this car yeah I mean is racing all over the racetrack and Jeff to your point you know now I'm concerned that no tires won't work it's not working for the 47. two tires might work if your car is good it's working for William Byron not so much for Cole Custer and on the bottom left if you saw it mistakes they don't work for anyone Austin Dillon and Corey lajoy both speeding on Pit Road they've given up all their track position Marty yeah Steve so all these crew chiefs making note of what happened here is Martin Truex Jr going to try once again to get around William Byron when he came off Pit Road James small said hey we have four those guys around you have two he said I think we're going to be on the right side of it and he just might Rick as he goes for the lead around the 24. can he complete the pass he's going to be able to get in front but it will there be a crossover move by William Byron doesn't look like it's going to happen oh Byron's slinging the back of that car off the Turner Ford getting everything he can so what data point I saw there is 10 laps it took 10 laps for what I consider the best car in the field to run down another very good car on two tires you know what Jeff's mentioning it doesn't mean it's completely out of the Playbook it just has to be at the right time in the race and closing in on William Byron now is the 45 of Tyler Reddick if you look behind here that 45 is going to be coming in a hurry and William is looking in the mirror trying to see how much that car is gaining lap after lap and William Byron has actually never finished in the top 10 here at New Hampshire so I asked Gucci pretty fugle what has he done well here and what do you guys need to work on he is very good when he said at finding Pace on the track trying different lines we've seen him do that already but the one thing they felt like they could work on is just outright passing people they didn't have the speed they felt like that jgr had obviously two tires Dave affecting their run during this second part of stage one Tyler reddick's Team wave to carrot in front of their driver they said you will catch the 24 before the end of the stage go get him carried out in front of Tyler Reddick well William Byron the nine laps that he led those are the first laps he's ever LED at New Hampshire but now it's Mark trucks Jr out front [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] NASCAR drive that's your live race day companion you're able to follow your favorite drivers with access to their in-car cameras and then you can choose some alternate camera angles you can customize your entire streaming experience just visit nascar.com driver you can download the Nascar mobile app to watch all of the action all right Martin trucks Jr is out in front but let's see which drivers are on the Move brought to you by Ashley Furniture and the biggest mover since the green flag came out at the start of this race has been Ty Gibbs how about 23 spots he started shotgun on the field Rick we mentioned oh as he slides up from the 48 gets a shot from Bowman we mentioned it during the starting grid the 54 had a major moment in qualifying that's the only reason he was up inside the top 15 or 16. Carr looked amazing in practice the two teammates of the 19 of the 20 have been unreal since they came off the truck this could be the type of day Ty Gibbs has been waiting on very early still in his cup career so Steve you know how you get by with a Little Help from your friends that's what Alex Bowman is doing today because William Byron was so good in practicing qualifying yesterday compared to Bowman his teammate they got the setup from them they put it on this car and so far it's okay though we're not struggling too badly here on the magic mile struggling would be the case for Kyle Busch starting at the back of the pack we teased a little bit that it'd be a show watching him come forward it hasn't happened yet Kyle has been struggling with the car being quote on top of the track and he's just trying to keep his momentum in Pace right now before they can really work on this Chevy you're gonna have to you're gonna have to sing that line next time Dave if you're gonna go with that one he gets by with a little help thanks for his friends I mentioned earlier I thought he was saving some tires I'm gonna stay out of the caution it was a big plan they're just slow and that's rare for this eight team Randall Burdette has had an unbelievable really two seasons even with Tyler wreck and now with Kyle Busch's continued and Kyle's first year at RCR has been impressive we haven't really seen this team completely miss it and I haven't given up on him yet right the track where a couple adjustments the right call get a little track position they're never really out of it 16 now 15 laps 16 still just under 16 to go as far as the end of stage one right along the Toyota on board Christopher Bell Rick after that stop when they lost nine spots Christopher Bell encouraging to his crew said hey guys first stop for the day we got a long way to go in this race interesting radio communication a moment ago Steve he talked about how he was free on entry and free on exit and then they said you can dial three rounds of front brake in it that sounds like a massive adjustment but in this new car is that a big adjustment Steve well in years past every driver every team could build their own brake adjuster in three rounds would seem like a lot because they were trying to make it easy for the drivers to not to spend a lot of time turning a knob as part of most of this new car the brake adjuster is another common item which means three rounds is really a much finer adjustment than what we have seen in the past the other thing is we don't know what they have set up they might have had a lot of rear break into it so if they're already biased to the back and you go three rounds to the front there's still more than enough adjustment the word breaks has come up so much I I my mind goes back to Gateway when there was big issues with brakes they were on the brakes hard they were cooling is that going to be a concerned here of potentially rotors exploding well it has a potential this is the style of track we don't really see that on Martinsville the road courses where you use a ton of brake right corner after corner but here at much like Gateway the long straightaways a lot of break abuse and you have to kind of like fine tune your tape because you need to have temperature in the brake to make it work well and if you miss judge it Dave and your car is driving bad and you abuse the brakes we can't see a failure so far for Ryan Blaney not driving bad and that's good news because when I talk to him and his crew seats out of the hassle before first practice they said we really need to work on our Corner entry especially right here coming into turn number three as he gets by Denny Hamlin here the bumps are bad and we need to make sure we address that on the first practice they did that he qualified very well and is moving toward the front on that last restart he was 10th he's all the way up to fifth now Bob's definitely an issue when you talk about New Hampshire as they get into turn number three and you see just how much those cars go up and down over the bumps getting into three right now Truex Jr William Byron Redick almarola Blaney Hamlin Bell Suarez legano and Michael Mcdowell all a part of the top ten here in New Hampshire foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] fans NASCAR and the premier Partners want to thank you visit nascar.com thank you fans to learn how you can win an exclusive Diamond experience just for being a fan see the fans on the back strap stretch here at the magic Mile and Steve you've pointed it out this weekend you put a little tape around your area so you secure it then bring in your chairs by going out right there on the grass yeah like going on the beach early in the morning on vacation you got to kind of claim your spot some of these families have been sitting on the back stretch the same location for years and years just an unbelievable facility you know I'm from Maine originally and I remember when the bear family spent the money to upgrade this racetrack to what we know we went in the tunnel for the first time this before I had ever been to Daytona or any of the bigger tracks and this place was like the Taj Mahal I had never seen a track this big I had never seen to track this well equipped I mean it was truly mind-blowing I actually watched Mike McLaughlin win a pair of double headers on opening weekend wanted to modified and one in the push worth Tyler Reddick knows if you want to be a bean well that one and two is the same amount of the 19th and a little better than him yeah three and four was very similar you pulled down a little earlier than him that's it that was a comparison to Martin shorex Jr and Tyler now is trying to apply that Jim and he's running right in front of Eric amarola in the fourth position despite having Pace Eric is just battling an ill-handling car they checked in asked me how it was he said everything is worst meaning it's loose center loose on throttle loose exit just needs major help when they come here at the end of this stage but it's coming up fast under three to go in the stage unfortunately see that 47 and just went on a screen that's Ricky Stenhouse that old Tire not only is going to hurt his positions but now he's a lap down and not the first car one lap down this is 2x going by him shoot up the racetrack here this is right when he went a lap down but way up outside of that and a little pressure that's when they got into the court hit each other for some reason it was interesting listening to the radios you know Erica amarola talking about that bad as far as he's running forward yeah I mean what if you had his car drive he runs 30th you know what I mean that's just going to be that kind of day cars are going to drive horrible track and slick good little battle right here with two to go in the stage a 20 car bill a little faster than 12 12 a little faster in a 10 the 10 a little quicker than 45. 24 Byron though has been able to hold on to that second spot Steve so that strategy for those guys paid off better and I think they even thought it would yeah I mean it proves that if you have a good car two tires will work what we saw was Sten houses you know you can't be up buy yourself on Old Tires a lot of options still available I think at the end of this stage we're going to see a lot of Ford Tires and a big reset yeah speaking of options coming to this final lap is where you can run on the racetrack I see some guys running all the way in the third lane making really good lap time spiders are going to be relaying that information to the drivers to make a change for the second stage this is going to be the sixth stage win for Mark trucks Jr here at New Hampshire as he comes out of four for the final time and we'll see the green and white Checkered Flag he went stage one 58 of his career State wins that's the most by the way he's been dominated to see the battle there McDowell just in front of Larson oh Kyle Busch has got smoke coming out of his car now a lot of damage to the right side yeah he's hit that hit the fence with the right rear maybe the right front as well he just radioed in it's killed has three times this weekend that he's had contact once in practice once in qualifying and now in the race [Applause] you heard that the right front is junk and they've got damage on the right rear as well well anything but just a casual Monday drive around the Magic Miles Fortress Jr dominating it on the stage one thank you [Music] foreign you're watching the Nascar Cup Series crayon 301 from New Hampshire Motor Speedway winning stage one Mark schrex Jr right at the end of the stage the aid of Kyle Busch got into the wall after uh look at a few of the replays the seven of Corey lejoy also into the wall we'll show you those replays in just a moment after pit stops but first we'll start with you Dave Tyler Reddick gives up third place Rick and he will get four Goodyear tires and Sunoco fuel the team will try to match his balance closer to the leader that of Martin Truex Jr Kim William Byron one of the few who's not complaining about his race car he said it's good I just need a little bit more rear grip but taking two might have been the problem let's take four fresh good years you saw that right there Marty Mark Trex Jr let all but 11 laps in stage one Kim he's in the car Hong on better but still two free at the end of The Run nice stop by the 19 Bunch also a nice stop by his teammate Christopher Bell who will gain three spots here on Pit Road first stall and good pit were a great combination for the 20 you mentioned it rick so you're gonna see here kind of at the top of your screen Alma Dinger enters he's been running kind of high just behind him though Kyle Busch spins around and backwards if you wait a moment here comes the seven of Carla Joy other hard contact drivers seems odd looks like something might be on the racetrack there guys we'll have to take a look to a couple minutes up race cars here [Music] thank you [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] thank you if you're moving this summer join the 6 million families who discovered a smarter more flexible way to move with highs save up to 30 percent at pods.com that ends today so Marty it looked as though the 20 had an issue maybe on their Pit Stop they came back onto Pit Road it's been a rough day on Pit Road for this 20 Bunch on a day when Christopher Bell said we must execute when one of our best cars of the Year first stop of the day they lost nine spots on this stop they left the left rear loose they came down Pit Road just now tightened all the wheels up Adam Stevens with a pep talk to Christopher Bell said listen we keep putting it on your shoulders it is not fair but we deserve to be up front and we can't fix that with a mistake be patient but get back up there and we'll keep you up there at this time well struggle right because now there's 225 laps to go so still a lot of time but time has run out for the Aid at Kyle Busch we saw the issue hitting the wall they're coming at the end of the stage Kyle Busch unable to repair this race car and the 45 of Tyler Reddick this one I don't think they could put on the team it was a pit issue for the 20 but too fast exiting for Tyler Reddick he's going to be at the back as well second stage very important to a pair of Toyotas and we also saw the 78 back there with the 45 also uh cop for speeding was BJ McLeod so now up front it's common names smart trucks Jr William Byron they make up row number one just behind them almarola and Blaney then it's Hamlin and Suarez when we come back to the restart Zone stage two underway now we're all really aggressive I'm sorry that's keslowski very aggressive on the bottom making it three wide gonna see that all day the restarts here and he throttles up slots right in front of the 99 so that's a win that's a that's a spot gained about that aggressive move the inside Ty Gibbs back here in that 54 up the racetrack well Wallace looked to the inside there of Suarez couldn't make the pass happen three wide there with Harvick in the middle here comes the five of Larson to the inside of Brad Keselowski oh contact with the 54 all the way up the racetrack keeps it out of the fence coming back down the racetrack though will they give him room gonna race hard around the outside of the 48 of Bowman three wide back in the field still almost four wide back there Rick three car and nine Chase Elliott Chase struggling to try to get track position it's kind of really not moved forward or backwards throughout this race but 38 car Guild and he's on two tires I believe everybody's trying to get around him I'm sure the 47 of Ricky Stenhouse Jr and that Kroger the blue Kroger on the hood he's got to feel better now with four fresh tires after this Pit Stop more wide you mentioned it you got the 20 and the 45 trying to recover from those issues at the stage break trying to work through some traffic that we've already watched all day long run two and three wide so this would be fun for them well at least fun for us there's a difference isn't it yeah yeah perspective so great Harrison Burton is still trying to get by that three of Dylan and here comes Bell after the issues on Pit Road he's going to work his way through the field now take another look at Gibbs here yeah Harvick in the middle and they just come down the racetrack Gibbs really doesn't give them the room that three wide would need I'm not sure if he knew they were three wide but I would put that more on him I think coming down the racetrack and Harvick's not going to give up the spot you know Harvard's not going to back off and give him an inch here here's a seven of blue Joy yeah he's struggling with the damage that he got from the crash you know Ty Gibbs we talk about him how good of a job he's done working himself up through the field clearly he crowded them but it didn't he didn't lose a lot of spots you know he lost a couple spots and those are the kind of things in a race especially where it's hard to pass if you lose five or six spots there that might be the difference between having a chance to win because that got to go back through him so yes he made a small mistake but he didn't compound it and make it worse and he's got a fast car Jeff his teammates are fast and I think he understands he's got speed in the car stay relaxed try to get back get back through there well you saw the seven he was in that issue at the end of the stage then was trying to find minimum speed couldn't do it he had to go behind the wall this would be the first dnf for Corey lejoy he was the only driver in the series heading into this race without a dnf no longer has that stat next to him yeah he's 24th overall in the point standings he's 70 out of the playoffs but unfortunate but you do have to applaud the effort throughout the season I mean already up to this point 20 races in and that's his first dnf and he was the only one still that hadn't had a dnf in this field and we wondered if we wondered if there was something on the track down there that he watched and the track Personnel didn't put any Speedy dry or anything down there so they didn't see new oil but well it's hard to believe a few of them had trouble in there without something strange going on I know that mystery is still unsolved tune in next week unsolved mystery Junior we might not know Dylan in the race you know somebody had an issue or something that was coming out of a car interesting here Reddick on the inside of Dylan and top of the screen the 24 now on equal tires with everyone else running in third place and Denny Hamlin as well this 11 car I didn't see the speed in Denny's car that you typically do at New Hampshire but here we are in the race he's plenty fast moving that car through the field using strategy on the racetrack but also able to pass cars yeah I talked to this team a little bit after just what you saw right the speed and practice wasn't quite what I expected and it seemed like they had maybe gone down a little bit different road than the 19 of the 20. and my word's not there as it sounded like they came back to that road of the 19 and the 20s so I'm not sure what setup item it was but I think the 11 has got a little bit more standard of what we see here at New Hampshire Marty now Steve that's a very fair way to describe with the setup things they may or changes they made this morning Denny Hamlin trying to get third right here when they made that two-tire stop a moment ago then he was animated said man I am struggling and Chris gabehart calmly walked him through said hey I know you're not happy right now but where you're at we still gain five positions from where we were on that two-tire stop so the message was very clear from the driver let's not do two tires later in the race but that did time that first two Tire stop worked out for him Kim well Marty you have to go deep in the field to find Chase Elliott currently running in the 22nd position and New Hampshire has not been a great great track for the driver of the number nine last year's runner-up finish he told me was a little bit of an anomaly he did not know why he did well last year I talked to group Chief Alan Gustin and he said this is just a track where Chase is very picky about what he wants in the race car we can never seem to get it perfect right now Chase just complaining about no turn he's loose end loose off that last sub they took a long time to get adjustments Allen telling the team we put all of the pieces of the puzzle together hopefully we can do something with it now but right now Chase Elliott still mired back in the 22nd position a lot of work still in front of the nine team interesting up front you have Mark trucks Jr who's never won here before and then in second Al morola and Hamlin both have been to Victory Lane here and see right here Ryan Blaine was looking below the 24th Byron I need to do a little cleanup I thought the seven couldn't maintain minimum speed I was incorrect they reached minimum speed which allows them to go to the garage repair the fence suspension items and returns so they have a chance to keep the uh lack of dnf streak in uh continued so we'll have to see standing by with another driver who unfortunately will not continue Dave yep Kyle we know you were struggling but it was weird to us was there something on the track or something um [Music] as much as you can and we were getting late in that run and I was trying a different line and I just it was too high I just didn't like to be that high on Entry I couldn't give it wheel and and have the right rear stick the lateral grip that you need so hate it for our Lenovo group The you know our Chevy stuff was a little off this week for us anyways [Music] so there's part of your mystery South guys nothing on the track just trying a different line [Music] so it didn't take all the way until next week to solve that mystery Dave Dave's on it David got his answers Dave is cutting edge so is Mark strix Jr [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] NBC Sports coverage of NASCAR on USA is brought to you by Progressive Insurance save when you bundle Auto home or motorcycle insurance visit progressive.com Credit One Bank a credit card company and buy Toyota Let's Go Places 89 laps still to go in stage two of this 301 lap race Mark trucks Jr already has been out front 83 laps now 84 as you just crossed the stripe and you look at laps led by Martin Shrek's Jr I think he claims all of these as home tracks but I will say Richmond so impressive short track racing for Mark Trex Jr really I don't know when the the switch flipped but we always used to talk about Martin tricks Jr couldn't win on a short track well now he is very good on short tracks see that by the different tracks that he has led Laps on including Martinsville in New Hampshire on that list updates from Pit Road Again 87 laps to go in stage two start with Kim and Michael Mcdowell grabbing attention recently four top tens in the last five races and they hope for a top 10 here day crew chief Travis Peterson told me we had a top 10 car it is great on the long run he's had minor complaints otherwise feels very good about the Ford that's underneath him running behind him William Byron has kind of descended down the leaderboard he was running really well in the beginning of the race and now after those four tires he took does not like the car take a listen okay we're the best she can we'll get you fixed up probably this way yeah sorry man hold on all you can I find something different so Rudy field made an air pressure adjustment on those four fresh good years he took at the end of stage one they're gonna go back on what they're going to do next time he comes down Pit Road Marty him he saw the playoff leaderboard just a moment ago Bubba Wallace who is so good here at New Hampshire last year finished third in this race has been struggling today their biggest complaint brake shake so Jeff help explain what break Shake is and what it feels like behind the wheel yeah so break Shake is when you go to the brake pedal it actually modulates the pedal bounces up and down on your foot that in and of itself is not a big deal but it changes the way the car drives you have a hard time using those brakes the way you really want to to change the handling of the vehicle so brake Shake can cause mechanical issues but really it's a performance thing but as we're talking about Bubble Wallace another thing that's going on with him is he and a group of guys trying to back in the field they're changing the line of this racetrack they are way up watch Bubba Wallace as he enters the corner he enters really high that's actually one of the lower time the lowest he's been in a while look at his exit really leaving high and it started that's what Kyle Busch was trying to do when we saw him wreck the guys in front of him were running that he saw it he tried to open that entry up and open it up a little bit too much or his car was too loose but the outside of this racetrack is starting to fire off we say no passing here at New Hampshire a tough passing don't tell Christopher Bell 18 spots since the restart oh let's talk about brakes uh New Hampshire St Louis we've seen break issues a few places and break shake and how it works well let's take a look at our virtual Toyota car and describe the brakes on these next gen cars we're going to take a closer look certain breaks are specified by the series The caliper that red area it's required the rotor this area right here required the one thing that's an option the brake pad itself that could change for different drivers some shake worse than others and you see with the new 18-inch wheel still very little space because everything has gotten bigger so how do you adjust it airflow air goes through the front grille cools the brakes at a place like New Hampshire you don't want maximum coolings you to add a little tape because as silly as this sounds when you see those bright red rotors that's what you need these brakes like to operate well north of a thousand degrees really 12 1300 degrees is the optimum area for brake temperature for pad interaction with the rotor the concern is you mentioned it what happens in St Louis I add a little tape now my car doesn't drive good now I'm stomping on the brakes the brakes get too hot and you can physically get to the palm of the road of bros contacts the caliper and explodes it is violent it is catastrophic and what we saw at new at St Louis this right here is the seven possivar was on it but right here take a look at this this is hard to see it's a little blurry that right there that is the rotor that has exploded gone through the hood through the wheel through the tire the seven goes straight into the fence so when we talk about brakes and Brake failures it's not necessarily at the heaviest breaking tracks it's these tracks like New Hampshire where cooling is very hard to manage listen next week another breaking concern long straightaways heavy braking Kevin Harvick now moving into the top ten with that pass on the 99 and right behind them to 20. we've talked about Christopher Bell driving through this field he and Reddick both recovering from some Pit Road issues but the 20 making it look a little bit easier Redick only plus 11 positions in 20th position right now Christopher Bell up to 11th and chasing after 10. riding along with the freeway insurance on board of Daniel Suarez he's another one of those drivers whose entry is a little bit higher Jeff you just mentioned a different line right yeah a lot of guys Rick a lot of guys way back in the field the nine the 43 several cars are really struggling are way way up the racetrack and turn three and four especially and there's some old old sealer up there that has never been ran on except for maybe by the modifieds when they run here you get that hot and tacky there is some grip this new Asphalt in the lower three lanes the older asphalt and the higher Lanes but the older asphalt has that sealer and some cars are actually getting up there and finding some pace and making that work that reminds me of like how we used to run this track around 2000 2001 2002 when this whole track was sealed we chase after that sealer because it gets gummy and grippy way up the right that's way up the racetrack these guys have never really been running up there first time I've seen this and I can't remember how many years but it's really only the back half of the field Truex and all these other cars either haven't seen it don't need it to find speed but will it be something somebody in the top five can utilize I'll be surprised but some people are making some decent speed up there in the back of the field yeah you're more reluctant to try something when you're running in the front because you it's if it doesn't work it's catastrophic like we saw with the eight car so you don't really want to take that chance at this point in the race Dave great shots of Ross Chastain wow working that car mostly today he has been tight in the center of the corner that's why he hasn't gone anywhere and where he started way in the back had a funny thing to say about that he said it's amazing Marty when something like free and qualifying to be so costly he started 31st Dave it's just crazy that 33 laps into this run Christopher Bell is plus 19 trying to track down Kevin Harvick for the top 10 right here we mentioned that speech by Adam Stevens to his driver after that Pit Stop In the Heat of the Moment here's what Adam Stephen said then on your shoulders here not fair and it ain't fun I can tell you that but we can't fix it with a mistake we gotta clog back up through there take our lap to the stage and get back up front Where We Belong there you go Adam Stevens rarely That animated on the radio but wanted to make sure his driver took care of the car going through the field and it's been a masterful drive for Christopher Bell so far in stage two here Jeff but what if you're the driver what are you thinking your pit crew so far today is O for two on Pit Road they've caught you spots every time what can you do to maybe help him out anything all you can do is be positive you know what yelling atom is not going to work they're trying as hard as they can they've made some mistakes and like Adams let's don't make it worse don't take a bad situation trying too hard and make the situation worse and right there you just heard good lap fastest on the racetrack and by the way he was he was two tenths of a second faster than Martin Truex that's the other part Junior if you make mistakes on Pit Road early in the race and I got a fast race car I can make it up you make a bad you have a bad pit stop with 50 to go I'm done so right now Christopher bell with a fast race car his day is far from over can still win this race and he could refine the team oh by the way you guys remember we won this race by five seconds last year [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] written and directed by Christopher Nolan Oppenheimer is an iMac shot epic Thriller that throws audiences into the pulse pounding Paradox of the enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it only in theaters July 21st tickets on sale now you're watching the Nascar Cup Series crayon 301 as now you see the 19 of Martin Trex Jr battling with the two of Austin cindric Cedric trying not to go a lap down right here he's been battling pretty hard for the last several laps running Martin pretty tight and you see he's using that really really high line and Martin is now maybe not trying that line but he's starting to appreciate it because this two car has been hard to pass Cinder not really good fading back through the back of the field but trying his hardest to stay on the lead lap you think he's appreciating that do you well he's appreciating the pace in the line up there I know yeah it finally it is interesting to watch how a car can be running that outside Lane and and honestly with a 19 caught the two the 19 was probably four tenths a lap faster the two got on the outside of him and he couldn't do anything with him watch Tyler Reddick here on the outside of the 31. and again the back of that car coming around you mentioned this earlier in the race Jeff off of turn two again off of turn four here the 45 loses the back of the car good save gets back to work right there around Ross Chastain looking back from the Advent health onboard camera of Ross Chastain and once again Ross Chastain he is going where no cars have gone before way up the racetrack when he goes through turn one and two I love to see it I love to see the racetrack get wider and wider and provide you with a lot of opportunities because it means cars can get out of dirty air and not have to follow each other when the grooves are three four lanes wide but still yet to see anybody in the top five really utilize these grooves to find speed starting to happen though in the back side of the top ten with Kevin Harvick it's got a fast race car and he's been up there making time and he's not you know he's drove away from the 20. of Christopher Bell who you think is one of the best cars in the field watch this four car we've seen it here before but the boards have struggled this year but this could be a great great finishing a great result for the four car today his teammate Erica morola is still hovering second place four seconds behind Truex yeah Junior been a solid date for Stuart Haas racing so far watching all these lines around the racetrack also starting to watch Pit Road so Steve you open up the New Hampshire Playbook right this stage 115 laps normally you would want to go you know it's pretty far into the run right but tires so critical today these Goodyear tires brand new are worth a lot of race time so would that make you want to split the stage maybe more in half and change up what you've always done here at New Hampshire well it would make me want to but it's going to be a very tough decision I won't be first I don't think it's a bad call but much like the 47 in the first yellow who's the only guy to stay out on Old Tires I don't want to be the only guy to pit early so if you are going to split in half you're going to come in about I don't know about seven or eight laps about eight laps we'll be halfway through this run uh the other option for guys that are trying to save a lap we talk a lot about the leaders of how you win the race and that would be the case for the four car or for the 19 Car crew chief if you're trying to save a lap you can run all the way to the end of your fuel Run come in and just take two tires and a splash of gas to try to the dots that's going to hurt your track position but it might save a lap date Kevin Harvick has been working hard running in the ninth position you're on board now thanks to Busch Light and he's been trying that higher line in break Jr told it told me it was the fourth Groove at the four groups here at the magic mile he was told that that is working well but for the leaders so he went up there and tried it immediately the team came back to him on the radio said that was a good lap and two laps ago coochie Rodney children's radio back to a really really good lap so he's finding where to go Kim that's what the veterans do to get to Victory Lane and Michael McDowell's team is paying attention to what you just described what Harvey is doing take a listen what they told their driver on the radio yeah four car is doing exactly what we watched in that video low entry letting it wash off and just staying up there at times you're better than I wanted to depending on how he hit this three and four you're pretty expensive sometimes better right this left you're pulling away from him so you heard that direction from the team right now Michael though has said he lost all turn in the middle and two loose off can't quite put the car where he wants it [Music] Michael Mcdowell was able to keep about a two-car length gap between himself and the four of Kevin Harvick but now Harvick has bit into that lead that he had and right on the back buffer a little wiggle there Adam Kevin so now this is where it gets really difficult Kevin's gotten fast running the high but now he's gonna have to pass on the on the inside so all the things that he just worked on to get his car do what he wanted to do well he did anyway he just drove in there passing but that's what's so difficult about this race he'll push you're still in line all clear it gets wide he gets very difficult to pass Dave so Tyler redikan team heard Marty and Steve's discussion here they come to get these tires off the 45 to fill it with Sunoco fuel remember he was coming from the back of the field after a speeding penalty on pit Lane he starts a cycle of green flag pit stops it is going to be busy and busy quick unless you're trying to save a lap you better pit in the next one or two laps Marty a lot of eyes on this stop Christopher Bell clearly one of the best cars here today all he told Adam Stevens was I need a little help on exit car just a little bit too free William Byron also on Pit Road Kim that's right Marty said I'm getting a vibration on brakes we need to go the other way on here with Justin Haley Justin Haley and just needs more rear stability on that car as they make that chassis adjustment you were about to see and there was contact made pretty hard contact on the inside of the 24 of William Byron it looks like the right front is okay but take a look at this so when you talk about responsibilities that is the 24's responsibility to wait the car leaving does not have the right of way the right-of-way is to the car entering the crew chief of the 24 Rudy fugle needs to hold his driver I've done it we've all done it very hard to do uh but it's responsibility of the car leaving to give the car entering the right away Dave Joey Logano said he needed some lateral grip for this 22 Mustang so he'll get his four Goodyear tires and Sunoco fuel Kevin Harvick is on Pit Road as well in his Mustang he too will get four tires and Fuel and also Ross Chastain you need to know ran long and his Pit Stop it'll be the one car taking a little bit longer they had to back him up and you saw we really quickly got to the 51 and I think he had a flat left rear tire um barely got the Pit Road nice job by Cole Custer I thought it was going to be a yellow in the match cycle he actually hit the fence Steve he split into the yeah slid into turn three up the racetrack same thing we saw the seven car doing to turn one Dave car building tighter in the center he'll get that pressure adjustment for that Marty Denny Hamlin told Chris gay part we got half of the forward bike that we needed we need the other half of the forward bite he leaves Pit Road his teammate Martin Trex Jr coming down Pit Road right now 2x about to hit his stall his only complaint the car just a little bit too free at the end of The Run they continue to make it better with every stop James small has been hitting him out of the park today we'll see if Truex can continue to deliver on the track as well Kim as Eric amarola makes his stop just battling handling issues still and then free off they make an air pressure adjustment four tires Sunoco fuel for the number 10. so on the way onto Pit Road is about a three second lead that 2x had over almarola looked to be pretty similar pit work well job by the 19 well done as he blends you're gonna see the 10 kind of back of the distance I actually think the 19 might have gained a little time like really good work but providing pick through and you see on the left side neida Chase Elliott now leading so you know why well we haven't really talked much about the nine today he's trying to find something now he comes to Pit Road he was trying to hope for a yellow I'm guessing that's why they were running long but they were just losing too much time to the new Goodyear Tires Kim and the last song they stayed on Pit Road long they made some major adjustments to get the car right still not exactly where Chase wants it he just needs more rear security more turn basically what everybody is saying here today slight air trust air pressure adjustment on those Goodyear tires that chase is taking it has just been paid to be this way just a quiet day for the nine car yeah this is the replay replay here the 51 Cole Custer a little Bobble right there oh man right up into the wall here's 23 above the laws he misses his pit stalls just the bit has to back up those are the small things I know they're just easy mistakes to make but those are the small things that add up that can really take you out of a race 19 back to Leading the three of Austin Dillon who has yet to come to Pit Road remember he had that speeding penalty earlier trying to find a way to recover 43 of Eric Jones in fourth also just trying to find a little break here maybe catching caution [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] NBC Sports coverage of of the New England Museum racing Museum here just to the south of the racetrack dick berggren championing that cause and I know the name latard is in there and also another name very very familiar with New England racing Ken Squire a Hall of Famer as well as a part of that there's a latard in there but it's not me there's a dog matard in there for sure my dad built race cars in New England he's the one that brought me to race tracks much like Ken Squire's Thunder Road since I you know everybody say hey what's your memory Dale Jr talks about his memory I don't have a memory not at a racetrack somewhere in New England so so great what dick and everyone is doing down at that museum I taught Dave Dion machine in there yeah uh the Joey Logano machine the Ricky Craven close finish at Darlington with Kurt Bush that's down there's a lot of great history in that museum so the modified's in there as well really such an important part of the growth of NASCAR Martin Truex Jr we mentioned that name and there's another look at the Museum there like I said just a little bit south of the racetrack here and you look at all the campers oh that's beautiful remember this is Monday so I had to pinch myself and remind myself it was Monday on the way in there was traffic there was a crowd there was campers I'm going to applaud these New England fans I know it's it was awful yesterday the weather the forecast it's really tough to find a freno a way to come back on a Monday they've done it and we mentioned names in that museum what about Truax I mean his father had so much success uh racing the tracks around here as well as right here at New Hampshire yeah his brothers one here as well Martin's One races here all three of them successful at this racetrack Truex still out front and really impressed by Eric amarola going all the way through that pit cycle all the way through green flag run still only three seconds behind and actually running just a little bit quicker than Martin the last couple of laps the one the one car I saw in there in between the 19 and the 10 was the nine of Chase Elliott he's now a lap down yeah he's hitted a lap after the leader just through the cycle was lapped so now that nine you know his quest to make the playoffs we have this you know disagreement about points or a win uh and I think races like this are going to put the pressure on him to find Victory Lane they made this car better though he was running with the 21 right there with the 21 and there there they are together but the nine I know he's got fresher tires but he's pace is much better than it was before his Pace now is only about a tenth of a second off of the leader prior to this stop he was about three tenths of a second off the leader so they'd pay the car better for sure Dave let's talk a little bit about shifting at this racetrack I believe Steve that it is from fourth to third that they do in the corner correct if they want to and so Blaney tried to fix his handling condition by not shifting he was shifting earlier in the race he told the crew I can't do that so what's the advantage and disadvantage and where does it come into play depending on how you're set up so it's interesting right because in past we would shift from fourth to third in the four-speed transmission and we really just thought about RPM but now what these guys are doing with shifting and Jeff you and I have had this conversation a lot they think it it really affects the handling Now by downshifting you generate more RPM in the car and it actually just gives the car grip which is something that we didn't really feel as much in our day Jeff but these drivers now talk about it's not as much of an engine thing as a handling thing yeah it's just drivability it just makes the car drive better puts the back of the car in the racetrack and what's amazing is how quickly they ship they shift really early before they get to the corner it's it's a lot of work and the workload is really high much higher now than I think at most points in the history of our sport cars don't drive good drivers more have more adjustments ton of work in there so Jeff why would you not ship what would you be trying to fix by not shifting leaving it before well so one thing about this racetrack Dave it's very unique the corner is a very long uh the center of the corner is a long way from the from the entrance of the corner so this is one of those tracks where you can drive in the corner really deeply and maybe you don't want to downshift it and slow the car down maybe you want to have more roll speed toward the center of the corner that would be the only thing I could think about but I believe most people in the in the field when it comes down to it and there's a checkered flag getting ready to fly most people are going to be shifting and I would add Jeff and Dale if you were really loose in and you've kind of cranked on your brakes and you can't get the back of the car comfortable on Entry I might suggest hey try not downshifted one time and see if it rolls in a little more secure it really hasn't done much Shifting the whole race and look at look at this right here the Five Card Larson had the position on Blaney but now having some trouble getting to buy a couple of lap cars and it's allowed Blandy to close up he goes to the outside trying to throttle up a little movement in the back of that five car off the corner down straight away looks like blaney's gonna take the spot away Larson's struggling just a little bit in the dirty air behind the two slower cars ahead priests and the 47 Marty hey Dale time for our Toyota driver update Martin Truex Jr up front he's LED 136 laps so far today there's where the Toyota drivers are running right now you guys were talking a moment ago about what this racetrack means to the racing Community here in the Northeast Martin Truex Jr remembers it well he came here when he was eight years old the first time to watch his dad race sat in the grandstands like so many people are today but what he really remembers Steve is the first time he got a garage passed 1992. he said I went in the garage guess who's the first person he found was Dale Earnhardt senior he said he was working on a carburetor and I just stood there and stared at him for like 30 minutes those moments to be able to get in the garage as a Young Man especially at your local track that means everything you mentioned just wide eye just sitting there looking at a legend in the sport working on his own car his carburetor well you have to remember growing up in New England we were huge NASCAR fans but NASCAR really didn't come here we would have to leave New England and go somewhere down the east coast to find the stars of NASCAR and when they showed up here it was just bad I wasn't lucky enough to be in the garage but I sat here on the front stretch looking across into the garage amazed that I got to see these people in person and you have to also remember there was a time when drivers worked on their own cars the crew chiefs actually let them work on their own Parts back in the good old days and give suggestions yeah that that's uh the good old game Mark Drex Jr Eric alvarola Hamlet Delaney and Larson All in the top five [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] oh take a look at to see a little bit different colors that mobile that black and gold black and yellow this at the top of your screen if Wallace gets slapped then this isn't for the free pass but currently this is the free pass battle Chase Briscoe Harrison Burton Chase Elliott and it is a knock down drag out they have been not quite pushing and shoving but taking each other's line lap after lap with 26 to go there are cheering Bubba Wallace on trying to keep him in front of Martin Truex Jr Kim and they've actually gotten that car better for Chase Brisco early on in the race he was just way too loose when he picked up throttle [Music] this car is better it will tighten up when it needs to but it will also give him drive off it takes about 10 to 15 laps to wake up is what he's telling the team so the longer the run the better that 14 car of Chase Brisco also just behind them one lap down is the 31 of Justin Haley he's running 22nd right now and I don't think we need to you know point out that we talk about staying on the lead lap yeah 22nd and he's the fourth car one lap down Mark Trex Jr is just putting a torrent Pace on here doing what you want to do right lap as many as you can try to eliminate them from contention that helps crew chief James small late in this race so this is a racetrack that has late yellows do you pit do you take two do you take four the more cars that are on the lead lap makes the decision for the leader more difficult and you would think that Bubba Wallace is holding tricks up but tricks just ran the second quickest lap that last time by Bubba Wallace actually ran the fifth quickest lap the last time bow on the racetrack so while he is stuck behind bubble Wallace they still are putting good Pace on the 43 of Eric Jones is going around in turn four he got into the wall just a little bit in the middle of the corner and that battle that you talked about Brisco he will be the first car on that down that's why you fight so hard Jeff it could change his whole day right I mean if we go back and see the finishing order you know in 139 laps where Chase Briscoe runs can come back to that battle he had with Harrison Burton of trying to stay in the lab unfortunately you know the inverse can be for Harrison wherever they end up he can come back to if we could have only got the lap back we could have changed kind of what happens the rest of the day yeah the question for these guys back here though with only 23 laps can you not pit here can you not pit get in the lead lap and then go that whole way without getting a lap down that's that strategy that happens back in the field as these teams are trying to get back in the lead lab who's willing to gamble oh if I could take the wave around assuming all the lead lap cars pit and I'm one lap down I'm absolutely staying on the racetrack and that's for Chase Elliott you know Chase Elliott in that Championship battle trying to make the playoffs this is a decision that he and his crew chief are going to have to make right now 30 Laps on those tires can they hold out for another 22 to get to the end of the stage at least staying on the lead lap 22 is more important than the 30 I think at this point you figure we're going to be inside of 20 um you know you'll try to get clear I think it'll work let's take a look what happened to the 43 he's also running that really high entry we've seen drivers run today he was 24th when this happened so he goes by the camera but right there he gets up into the fence and as he's trying to steer the car off the wall there's tons of debris and marbles up there and when he turns the car down across the racetrack to get back down the track it just brings the back end around because just dancing across Marbles and debris and all types of stuff he gives it a little bit of throttle just so it doesn't Spin and back into the fence fourth place Ryan Blaney said I'm not quite right to run that fast line everybody's running let's back off that last adjustment we made just a little bit Kim hey that's Eric what he needs he said I need a track position they said New Hampshire New Hampshire that was the code word we're about to see what they're going to do it looked like it oh trouble on the left rear there but two tires was the call for aircon morola Marty Denny Hamlin Miller your screen so good foreign my entry I can do a lot more with it Martin Truex Jr said really happy with the car just a little bit too tight and look at those two Tire stops a little strategy here late in stage two Rick you see the race off of Pitt Road and a hot Pit Road there in the Rheem pits well when the sun is shining and it's not raining there are so many things to do here in New Hampshire you've got hiking running you've got so many different sporting events and of course NASCAR New Hampshire a great place to visit [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] next weekend it's an Indy car double header on the short track in Newton Iowa that's Iowa's Speedway Saturday 3 P.M Eastern and Sunday 2 p.m Eastern on NBC and peacock wow what a race Chris Moon Guard put together getting his first career Indycar Series win that happened on the streets of Toronto yesterday but Alex Pollo has been dominant and he's just in front of Scott Dixon on the point standings as we've got a great one going here the Nascar Cup Series crayon 301 on USA a lot of experts didn't get Lund guard a chance he sat on the pole kind of in the weather wasn't sure he would have the pace in the dry but man he did did a great job very impressive first win let's look at this 10 right here it comes in you want to talk about a game of inches look how close the front of that car is to that white line so much so there's a crew member behind play while it has some concern remember this is all officiated from a camera system the Pro system by NASCAR that's no longer a judgment call so uh very very very close for the 10 you see that fire on the left side of the 20 scary situation luckily not a a big issue and back to those wave around cars we talked about the 14 gets the free pass but 13 other cars wave around which means they're now on the tail end of the lead lap they drive around to the back of the field that list includes you know Harrison Burton Chase Elliott Justin Haley Gilliland pre-sendrick Austin Dillon Ross Chastain Ty Dillon so a big group of cars back on the lead lap with now under 20 to go in this stage and another car Bubba Wallace literally fighting to stay on the lead lab when the college comes out it's going to line up tent on the outside on this restart so it's insane how quickly your fortunes can can flip by Yeah by innocent caution and everybody in the top four took two tires right here at Amarillo got to leave with two so all about all the top four cars two tires yeah so if you're a 2X here such a good card you got to be nervous being in the middle of this great perspective here this is on board of the five onboard cameras all around the main screen there in the middle take a look at the restart focused on Brad keselazquez I got to tell you it looked like he took the hardest left turn all the way up and into the wall goes to 10 of Eric albarola caution comes out big damage on the right rear down I don't know that right rear tire is broken from the damage or the contact or whether it was coming off the road yeah like the right rear tire wheel was coming off of the car because of one of the lugs maybe not tight wasn't tight you just heard it I'm Gonna Roll his last win was here that was 69 races ago back in 2021 and they were running so good today this is going to be a big disappointment for this team and during that stop you saw the issue with the 10 car and the fact that the rear changer was having a little bit of trouble after that stop Eric asked did we get them tight they told them yes then just now after this incident on the radio he had he said how did this happen Drew Blick and Surfer the crew chief said the lug wasn't tight that's so disappointing you said a junior they had a fast car real shot to win this race let's go back and watch what happens Sierra Camaro the front of your screen starts to throttle up and he can feel it right away it's starting to come off and starting to smoke on the quarter panel and he locks down the front it's like driving a forklift at that point with the rear rear of the car just steering around uncontrollably that tire is trying to work its way out of the wheel well it's horrible for the 10 car a shot to win and all those guys that you just look at the right rear wheel look at the right rear tire I mean it is it's off the car essentially great shot here I want to make sure to think right up the race track think our camera operators and everybody uh Monday a longer weekend than normal but doing an excellent job as always Steve Steve just went through the whole list of cars that stayed out and that puts every one of them in the lead lap and now they're going to come down Pit Road and pit so all those drivers including Chase Elliott that was a big break for a disappointing break for the Tim but all those other guys are happy we saw the five of Kyle Larson he was able to stay in front of legano he's going to be scored the race leader for the restart you know and Kyle Larson up in front you know to your point about Truex you know now all those now there's 27 cars in lead Labs so now you're concerned if you make a mistake you go too far to the back it's true X scored third right now as we're winding down there will only be 14 laps to go in this stage Larson legano Truex Hamlin Harvick McDowell Blaney Kozlowski Wallace and Reddick all in the top ten they will choose which lane as we get ready for the restart when we come back [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign thank you trouble for Eric amarola starts on the pit stop so really focus on the rear tire changer right here the tire comes off without an issue but as they go to put the other Tire on this tire shouldn't be able to spin this tire should be locked on there so he's spinning left as he's trying to tighten the wheel nut which tightens to the left this wheel was not installed properly so let's take a look at what should happen right you put your wheel gun in you take the wheel nut off the nut stays in the socket a little bit quicker than the old world where you had to kind of glue the nuts on but then the wheel itself comes off they have no problem moving it the important part is the locking mechanism and the drive pins how can a wheel come off if it's locked well because it's not locked the drive pins fit into those receivers on the wheel so when you turn in a little left or a little right that's what locks it in place then when you put the nut over it it goes far enough on that that locking mechanism pops up it doesn't allow the nut to come off what I think happened is the reason the wheel was turning the drive pins never got seated he actually started right in the nut it tightened against the wheel and then when it went out on the racetrack the wheel found its home on those Drive pins it slides forward now you have a loose wheel nut and the right rear comes off all right once again we'll ride along with a few different cars they're on boards now just 11 laps to go in stage two and Larson hold off Mark tricks Jr who has been dominant today both sides both sides both sides clearly yes what a mess you better be ready on the restarts back of the pack and there's the pass for the lead the five car way up the racetrack trick sliding the back gonna not have the momentum down straight away here comes Larson back a little side draft even heading off into turn one Truex holding tight drives up the racetrack he'll try to finish the throttle before the five car here and have the momentum on exit four fresh tires versus only a two-tire stop for Larson there lagano also on a two-tire stop strategy the Martin trucks Jr once again I'm going to try to check out on this field now with just nine laps to go three wide right here reading trying to get out of that Brad Keselowski to the inside slides up into the 45 car contact between the six and the 45 down the back straightaway now we're three wide again Ty gets to the inside in that 54 car that is crazy how many three wide racing packs we have around New Hampshire [Music] bestest racetrack's ever been in terms of grooves and different places to go and the restarts are tough we saw the 54 all the way down on the apron there for Ty Gibbs fifth group we don't even mention sometimes Rick because it's it might be off camera it might be tilted the wrong way for these cars [Music] good battle to top of the screen is that four car of Harvick trying to hang on to Fourth spot he has some track position here with the two tires stop [Music] less than seven to go in stage two Blaney on the inside trying to take the spot away from Harvick they're gonna drag race down the back straight away side by side parking eight inches ahead down into the turn though I think the 12 car will roll the bottom and clear he does Harvick drifts up high but gets the momentum back as he comes back trying to get to the outside just clear is that 12 car across the nose of Harvick so aggressive back there you have to drive so hard to try to complete a pass now Hamlet is able to clear the four as well so Denny Hamlin moves up into that fourth position the position [Music] the contact David Wilson from Toyota didn't like that because I thought that was uh Toyota and a Toyota sure it's a good battle right here trying to get around the 23. and right behind him another battle side by side the 54 and the 20. Brad has been really running these cars up the racetrack in the middle of the corner trying to take what he can he's also not got his traditional spotter TJ Majors who's home with a small illness so he's got a unusual spotter on top of the on top of the building today I think it's his brother Brian Brian is up there yeah so as well as they know each other that's still an unfamiliar voice and Brian trying to do as good a job as he can help his brother through these type of situations racing hard here the last few laps here Brad's finally going to clear drive up take the line here comes the 45 of Reddick around the outside of the 23 of Bubba Wallace teammates racing Bubba a little bit of movement in the back of the car on throttle there's racing everywhere you sit three wide back here with Chase Elliott by the way that's for 23rd that's how hard the racing is goodness you know why the racing for 23rd is sometimes the hardest because the drivers are definitely in bad moods back there that's what I think Rick the guys back there are just their patients are being tested well always fighting with the handling of the car you know there's back there saying this car is not working for me it's not working the way I want it to and so they're fighting that as well as everybody else that's back there with those same positions and you see see Bell trying to get by the 23. here's another replay of uh the Advent Health on board of Ross Chastain and room up there yeah Ross is just not sure whether Chase is going to let him have it or not had to back out a little bit then accelerate down the straightaway and here's clearing across the nose of the floor of Harvick off of turn four off of the Department's turn and he wasn't gonna let up that's for sure final lap uh by the way this is probably a little bit late to tell you this but if you haven't changed your fantasy lineup you have to do it within the next five seconds uh otherwise you're not going to be able to get that garage driver out there but if you've got Truex Jr in your lineup you're pretty good because he won stage one and now he has won stage two Kyle Larson hanging on as well as legano with those two-tire stop strategy for a second and third second straight gear now the Truex has won both stages here in New Hampshire it's the 16th time the Truex has won the first two stages uh he's only gone on to win six times before can that change well craziness on Pit Road that's coming up when we return [Music] all right [Music] [Music] thank you thank you [Music] Nascar fan rewards it is free to pods.com today oh big split decision on Pit Road Truex lagano Blaney Hamlin stay on the racetrack many on pet Road Kim and Kyle Larson said it was really slick with just the rights they took on the last stop he said I need a little bit of help on exit more rear security to call by Cliff Daniels is a four tire change you saw the chassis adjustment there right Dave Kevin Harvick came on to Pit Road uh Rodney Childers is pretty fast what do you think would happen if we put four put left sides on to match those rights he said hard to tell Marty will know in a minute Chris Rebel the four fresh Goodyear Tires going on the call by Adam Stevens to come to fit road but see if you caught it there were a ton of cars that stayed out this could be the fork in the road for this race strategy all over the map right now yeah I I'm it's going to be interesting to see how it plays out I will say this gives me anxiety watching I'm so glad I wasn't down there because right now I think track position matters but we saw Stenhouse earlier struggling old tires there'll be a lot to figure out here in the next 113 laps [Music] thank you we got Larry the Lobster coming to the show right now here you go Jeff look at this guy look how big this guy is he is huge I love that I love that so okay very good um there you go hey Steve there you go that's a guy from Maine that's pretty cool isn't it this is like a horror movie here it doesn't bother me I do not have ostraconophobia I'm pretty sure the surname is Louden uh for loud in the lobster but you guys can call him Larry too that might be his first name he's 65 years old I doubt he's named loud 65 years ago and Steve wasn't gonna hold him but anybody didn't know was I've been standing outside there for a minute holding this thing in the hallway waiting to walk in there so you were darn sure gonna hold it Steve I was gonna make sure oh yeah no I got that I also got this right here look at the left side that is a complete mixed bag of strategies we got 10 or 15 lap tires up front some on four some on two back of the pack you have other guys on Fresh two and fresh four it's gonna be chaos final stage underway Mark trucks Junior out front and he was one of the cars that didn't come to Pit Road at the end of stage two a lot of checkup on the bottom of the racetrack you see cars all over on the apron everywhere side by side between Blaney and Lugano way up the racetrack is Reddick losing tons of spots that 45 car that black 45 at the top of the screen and we keep talking about inside you keep talking about speed being up there in that high Lane but if you get too high you get out in the marbles there's no grip Mr Bale trying to recover from the middle of the field in a three-wide situation Alex Bowman back up toward the front here 14 way up the racetrack comes the nine of Chase Elliott I wonder if they've made enough adjustments that he can find his way up to the front they go way up that track you think man they're just going to get passed easily on the bottom and they throttle up and come flying off the corner back to the outside of the car who's underneath them the move by Larson in the five he was able to get to the inside of that 38 of Gilliland when he's pressing the issue because he knows these new tires are an advantage but it couldn't level off and he kind of needs to clear some of this traffic now he's inside his teammate to nine and you talk about the Top Lane in the thralling up that was a perfect example there the white and black car on the top of three wide Gilliland up there it's a tough race for the spotters to call because you know clear a driver in the middle of the corner but then you got to be ready to let him know when somebody's back to his outside so that driver doesn't fence the car with the run on the outside it's a tough situation to be in they're earning to keep today Steve Wright call for Martin trucks Jr to stay out absolutely best car here in New Hampshire he's won both stages uh you knew there was a bunch of cars that just took the free pass that were going to stay out as we ride on forward Ross Chastain this Advent Health Camp I love the idea of keeping your car up front everybody needs one more pit stop for fuel no fuel advantage two inside now that can't be a comforting message that was an interesting shot right there Ross Chastain looking forward at the four of Kevin Harvick now Bowman uh looking to the inside in the 48's Ryan priest is down all the way at the bottom of the track but interesting for Ross Chastain looking forward seeing Bush light as the sponsor on the four well he will have that sponsor that was the big news throughout the week building up to this weekend is that Ross Chastain will have Busch Light as his sponsor in 2024 at track house racing after Kevin Harvick retires this season now the only question is are we going to get a watermelon watermelon Bush life I mean for sure we're gonna have to get one right you would think Denny Hamlin and Brad Keselowski two veterans fighting for position there as Kozlowski it's just in front of the Toyota you can see what happens with Ty gives on the bottom of the racetrack and that black 54 car if they ever get momentum on the outside of you it's so hard to overcome it you want to be on the bottom because you can make passes but if you if you get down there and you get tight and the guys around you good on the outside of you there's no way to defend it the 43 of Eric Jones he gets into the wall and we've seen a lot of this coming off of turn two Publishers incident in practice the other day just trying to be in the throttle on Corner exit just lose grip keep your eyes peeled in this number five Valvoline of Kyle Larson Ford first car off Pit Road with four fresh tires he has got through traffic relatively cleanly working on Denny Hamlin right here for the fifth position and if you're a Truex you want every car behind you to battle Larson takes some of that entire life out of the five car with 103 to go the five has more grip and more speed but with every position he battles for it loses a little bit of that advantage we mentioned battles all the way around the racetrack see the five of Larson still aggressive trying to shortcut as much as he can of this one mile flat oval watch what he does he drives way in the corner and he just stays on that bottom white line it's so difficult there's just not as much grip down there putting up a great fright Marty great battle back there for fifth between Hamill and Larson but how about Brad Keselowski right in front of them sitting in fourth right now and yes brother Brian is spotting for him today and might not doing a terrific job sounds like he's done it forever of course a driver himself had a conversation with Brad and he said listen we've been consistently eighth to 15th as an organization we all need to take that next step looks like they've taken it today up there in fourth could he get his first win as an owner driver at a place that he's won before looking good so far well this would be a great one because you know the RFK the r is the Roush we're clear on that one let's not forget the f is the penway yeah so if you're gonna get a win as a first-time owner Kozlowski you would love to give your co-owner the Fenway group who's just down the road in Boston a win in their backyard two times Brad has been to Victory Lane here in New Hampshire and here Chris butcher also a part of RFK trying to work his way around the nine but it looks like the momentum of the nine is going to keep Chase Elliott out in front [Music] Chase Elliott we've mentioned you know The Saga of chase after an injury was out of the car for six weeks then a suspension kept him out for another week so the Battle of getting into the playoffs based on points it's an uphill battle right now running in the 13th position a win and you advance those opportunities are running out although we do have tracks that he is very good at coming up and I would say Watkins Glen is one of the best Kim and I asked him this morning kind of where are you guys mentally are you feeling the pressure yet is there a bit of anxiety said I've done this long enough to know it does not help to panic that does not lead to good things in these situations you have to control what you can control and today for them that was getting the car better for Chase throughout the course of this race they've done that the complaints he's made have gotten lower and lower right now Chase Elliott riding in the 14th position yeah he's really got his hands full right now with busher in that 17. bush are continuing to run a lower line but that momentum keeping the nine of Chase Elliott out in front that time though a great one and two for busher as he tries to make the pass and take the spot away from Elliott great battle Chase has to fight here I mean you know the 13th Place is not going to get it for the points that he needs each week if he doesn't you know hasn't earned any points today in any stages he'll be able to find his way into the playoffs through points finishing 13th today almost assures that he'll have to win going forward and the other thing you know it's still 95 laps to go so if you can sit here and run in this position for the next 30 40 laps get a caution come down Pit Road have a good pit stop pick up three or four you're right in the hunt for for a good top seven top eight finish these are the days that championships are made right if you think about Champions always had a good day he's always being fast that's not the case the case is managing the bad days and finding a way to get good finishes on days where you may not necessarily deserve it on speed but you fought your way through it and right now Elliott in the 13th position it's smart tricks Junior out in front Blaney Legato the top three the crayon 301. foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] 89 laps and a pit stop still in front of these drivers in the Nascar Cup Series crayon 3001 on USA Martin Shrek Jr he's been out front 188 laps one stage one and stage two let's take a look at the ruoff mortgage keys to Victory Lane what has he got to do to stay up front and win this one chase the track right now man and he's done that the 12 of planey was running him down he's moved up the racetrack found more speed now starting to stretch that lead back out well how many tires I mean what are you going to do is is two tires going to be enough four tires when you make this final Pit Stop uh it could be under green and you split this last run somewhere near the middle shift happens we have worked hard we've talked about it over and over and over we shift every week and now some guys are not shifting what is going to be the best late in this race I think they'll end up shifting I don't think there's any question about it way up the racetrack and again Elliott now running in that 13th position priest is behind him Harrison Burton in front of him Harrisonburg a great run here running in the 12th position could it be hereditary Harrison Burton running as well as he's running at this racetrack I don't know it runs good at Darlington too so maybe I think it might be two tracks that you were spectacular at so the interesting thing about the lane Choice by Truex to move up the racetrack out of this you know traditional line if he's ran all day long the 12 had to go search and the 12 actually found some speed so is the 12 just a better race car because he can run multiple grooves and still chase down this 19. but what they are also doing is you see the 12 car they're pushing it further and further and further up the racetrack down here in turn three and four and we've seen some cars jump that cushion or get into you know the marbles and the debris up the racetrack and have some trouble so that will be the problem I think later in the race as you're trying to find more and more speed and push the car further up the racetrack getting into the dirty stuff it's gonna be hard to keep it out of the fence yeah the speed of the 12 forced Truex to looking for something different he really was comfortable running where he was running didn't really want to be up here risking it yeah 85 to go but if he just kept doing what he was doing the 12 was going to get by him so you know Truex has one of the smartest race car drivers in our circuit there is no doubt about it immediately a response to what the 12 car was doing and now Truex is learning he knows what this car did on the bottom middle early in the race now he's learning what it can do on the top that just makes him increasingly more dangerous [Music] let's go through the field brought to you by eBay Marty Martin Drex Jr has been up front for 193 laps today just incredible it's mid July and with those laps LED today he's already LED more laps this year than he led the entire year in 2022 here in 2023 as soon as third at his favorite Racetrack and one of his favorite race tracks on his home race tracks three times as he said earlier this week I want this one bad can he close it out Dave Ryan Blaney has not let a lap yet today had this to tell his team really it's really good oh good 19 is pretty good we are pretty good too creative Donovan Hassler like that on his last opportunity to pit remember he stayed out he took four tires meanwhile behind him his teammate Joy Logano only took two right side tires he did say recently though that the balance has started to come to the 22. Marty Dave I asked Matt McCall the crew chief for Brad Keselowski earlier today of all the tracks where Brad might get his first win as an owner driver where would New Hampshire rank he said near the top and you can see it in the numbers as well he has four straight top tens here can he get that first win though Kim well you see Kyle Larson in the red and white and Gucci Cliff Daniels has told me occasions Kyle is arguing at Talent give him what he needs to perform well today it seems Larson needs some firm Direction Marty because slip has gotten Stern on the radio telling Larson to race this race track not near drives tracking down Kyle Larson is Christopher Bell so after that stop Adam Stevens said when everyone else didn't stop around them he said listen I think the long run is coming right here this is going to pay to our advantage and several times during this run he has reminded him we need longevity in the car take care of your stuff meanwhile's teammate Denny Hamlin right behind him in seventh is struggling on the short runs especially listen on the radio do the best you can calm down get back focused not really sure what to do here this is no changes from the last stop so it's a few Cycles it could be messing with us Denny has three New Hampshire wins but none with Chris Gayheart who told me this morning I want to watch Danny kiss that Lobster but he has a lot of work to do to get it there Kim well Chase Bristow had a crew chief change a few weeks ago Richard Boswell on the box and Chase told me it's definitely been a change in Team Dynamics the way we communicate and prepare and he said I've been held way more accountable over the last three or four weeks that accountability can lead to Performance we're hoping to capitalize that Chase Briscoe currently saying just a little bit tight but overall feels good in the eighth position Marty camp in the media center earlier this week Bubba Wallace was very candid and he said listen it's a reflection moment for us on the 23 team too many mistakes have put us too close to the cut line and that's not where we want to be at one of their better racetracks here at New Hampshire and today I would say they have not only executed what you said we need to do a better job of they have persevered remember that break Shake issue Bubba has fought through it all day long and here he is losing that spot Dave to Kevin Harvick but still in the top ten yep sees the reflection of harvest bumper now as he moves back to the ninth position remember Harvard came into today still the highest in points without a win on the season thinking he can get that before the playoffs but today it's going to be tough he stopped the last time on Pit Road Four fresh tires has been the fastest car on track a few times Rick recently Dave well this is the third Monday race already this year and those two drivers right there have been to Victory Lane at the other two Monday races [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] this week Dale Jarrett will be on NBC Sports on SiriusXM with The Bag Man and Pete mastoni on Wednesday at 9 00 a.m Eastern that's NASCAR radio channel 90. BBC Sports on SiriusXM with Dale Jarrett Marty uh are we seeing maybe the 19 not handling as well as he wants well he's been pretty good so far today he's LED all but 11 laps in this race so far Rick but starting to notice maybe a crack in the armor here for Martin Truex Jr and the line he's taken on the racetrack listen I can't do it wouldn't help you anybody copy he is [Music] well that's a great Point Jeff you know the spotter can see what the other drivers are doing they can see they're making time on them but Martin correction isn't driving Ryan blaney's car so how does he react to that information from the spotter well I love the information I think that's what the spotter that's what his job is to let you know what other guys are doing uh and you can try it but then when your car won't do it you have to accept it and the team has to accept it just trying to do it when it won't work is the wrong thing to do but why won't it work and that's what you heard Martin say I'm too loose to do it and now his team knows that that's where he needs to be they're gonna have to tighten that car up well you never want to you know lose the lead or be contested but this 12 getting close to the 19 might be just what James Smalls need to have the confidence to make a bigger adjustment will you dominate 208 laps led by Martin Truex Jr it's hard to dial yourself out if you don't think anyone's caught you fellaini's staying this so close is definitely showed that the 19 does have competition not to mention the five and the 20 back in fifth and sixth I think someone's gonna do something on this Pit Stop you look at the last run has been about 70 for 2x those haven't all been green it's been about 56 green 68 to go so I think inside four or five six laps from now come to pin Road get tires and if I'm um or Bell I would pit first I would make 2x counter me Blaney from second one lap to Pit Road could be the track position that makes a difference and this five in this 20 Steve have been stuck behind crack Kozlowski just slightly held up by the six and that would be an opportunity to possibly Leap Forward in front of that six to come Pit Road sooner if you can't pass him right here like the five is trying to do looks like Brad and the five are gonna drag race down the back straight away maybe coming to a Pit Road can get you in front of these cars in this cycle right now Larson and the 20 are just hoping but this is Brad look he gasses it up back to the outside of the five and Bell is getting frustrated because he knows if the five can't get by then the 20 can't get by and Brad is doing nothing wrong this is why this is one of the driver that I thought could quote steal a win maybe isn't the fastest car if Brad keslowski is in front of you you're gonna have to work [Music] there by one now start to see that little bit of agitation looking out the windows the pit Crews warming up there it is Blaney first to Pit Road how quick will Truex counter will he attack the next lap remember new tires worth almost a second a lap Dave so Ryan Blaney will take four thank you very much and Sunoco fuel he was saying the front tires are taking a beating didn't like the way the car was handling even though he was running in second position now counting on his pit crew to get him on and off the Pit Road during this free flag cycle better than the other teams he started it we'll see how they finish it I love Jonathan hassler's aggressiveness race like you want to win race like you have to and there you have it James Smalls knows he cannot give up more than a lap now the 19 comes to Pit Road 65 to go we have seen long green flag runs finished the race here at New Hampshire now it's up to 2x efficient on Pit Road and a good stop Marty oh he knew immediately when he saw the 12th pit James small said hey we're pitting the next lap and he also made an interesting comment Martin treac Jr only about his car being free but he said the track is getting very slippery out there they also saw the 12 had a slight Bobble on their top so they know they can take 19 with another great stop we'll see where he Cycles out relative to the 12. well that's the key right 19 leaves Pit Road here's the 12. he had a little traffic with Eric Jones on the 43. he's at speed the 19 trying to accelerate down the back stretch I think not only did they hold serve they gained even with a Lap later to Pit Road Advantage Truex the Gap was eight tenths of a second before those pit stops and it's easily a second now so he did gain on Ryan Blaney Blaney tried to run that short line around the racetrack again everyone going through the pit cycle now Legato is out front here and you see him on Pit Road Dave lagano two tires last time this time he will get for Todd Gilliland finish up his pit work just behind legano's pin stall so we had a clean entry he'll have a clean exit as well in front of them is vacant fueling as well as well Adam Stevens projected would happen came through but goodness hires doing things so valuable today couldn't afford to leave christopherbell out on the racetrack even though they had a 24 lap Tire advantage on all the other guys now as you see on board with bell you see the five of Larson kind of reappear right there oh my goodness this is not the guy he wanted to see he goes now I gotta go buy Brad again but you see Larson was able to cycle ahead of Brad and now almost cycle ahead of the 22. he's gonna jump to the outside here and on the new tires the 22 just trying to get the Heat and I'm not able to accelerate off the corner so that two spots for the five by coming to Pit Road a lap earlier than the sixth you wonder if Bale and those guys would want to have that cycle back right do all that over again and they might be in front of the five here be able to drive away you're absolutely right Dale it's not the time on the racetrack a half a second or a second it's the positions and to LeapFrog those two cars is going to allow Kyle Larson to show us how good this five car is Bruce is on Pit Road now but that means the four in front of Truex still have to cut the Pit Road including race leader Kevin Harvick here's Kim and Ryan brings in that 41 car has been complaining oh Grace long said it feels like I'm on a roller coaster almost like I'm riding a bull so that handling not great for Ryan priest so we talked about who's where and what the situation is well the 19 of Truex is going to be the leader I know he's not yet Dylan has to pit so here is the 19. upper right you see the track map the five of Kyle Larson who will in my opinion end up running third after this cycle is less than a half a straight away behind so it's going to be all about traffic now if we get a yellow Kevin Harvick it's like winning the lottery ticket maybe not the 800 and something million dollars okay 900 million but for Harvard it's gonna feel like it because he is going to have the lead Dylan and Byron and Suarez that's their strategy right here they're hoping for a caution we're focusing on the cars that have pitted because we believe the 19 the 12 the five will become the top three cars when the cycle gets completed how long do you ride around if you're Harvard I'm not right around but how long do you race around here if you're Harvick before you come to Pit Road you've already not followed the leaders on Pit Road so in my opinion now you just run until you need fuel run as far out you just heard Rodney Childers pit this time maybe you can ride on board and watch this come to Pit Road reaches up shifts adjust the brakes this is the progressive Telemetry we're taking a look at Kevin Harvick actually just surpassed 16 000 laps LED in his career as he comes to Pit Road now busy getting a Pit Road now look he's gonna look up at that tack try to run the perfect amount of lights look at the RPM look how consistent that was I mean it was 4400 plus or minus 50 rpm all the way to his pits all it's with such a strong run for Kevin Harvick he restarted in the 17th position ran all the way to eighth before they started pitting so he passed nine cars on the track with those fresh tires he'll get four more fresh ones here and pull up Sunoco fuel you don't think drivers have an internal clock you see the driver's head start to shake when he know the drag shoot he was waiting for the jack to be dropped and they were still tightening a lug nut they got that internal cloth they know that it should have taken less time falls back after this green flag pit stop for Harvick and Rick I know we're not supposed to have favorites but with Kevin Harvick and this being his final Year I hope we see him in Victory Lane he's done too much in the sport he's been too great of an ambassador to the sport I'd love to see where you see Tony Stewart's the Jeff Gordon some of the biggest names I'd love to see Harvard get a win in his final year Christopher Bell taking the spot away from the six car Kim the 24 William Byron's pretty bugle was hoping somebody would lose a wheel they would catch a caution that's why he kept him out as long as he felt like he could they just said not had the pace since they got that right front damage it's a little tight on the 24 William Byron four players Sunoco fuel some cars out on the racetrack on Old Tires some on new some interesting racing down the front straightaway we're riding on board the 99 of Daniel Suarez as Truex almost clear as Suarez almost turns him into the outside wall tourex going by on the newer tires Suarez out here on the long run old tires you'd see it on the board there 59 laps since his last Pit Stop [Applause] [Music] no give and take not even an inch yeah here comes Blaney now he's also going to go by Suarez against Suarez and Dylan we don't still have to come to fit Road [Music] 75 laps since Austin Dillon was on Pit Road Colby you remember Austin Dillon he won a year ago at Daytona in big fashion to make the playoffs well with the huge points penalty they had earlier the in this year it's it's win winner you don't make it I mean the three of Austin Dillon is not going to make it on points I think everybody can accept that I mean he's 143 behind him while math probably says he in theory can reality says he's not going to gain 143 points in basically 12 spots in seven weeks so he knows he has to win a race and that's what you see right here you see The Crew Chief Keith rodden saying how can I win how can I get lucky this is it run as long as you can and just hope you get a yellow hope things fall your way I mean it was a 20 car pile up in Daytona that he makes his way through to get into the playoffs last year what kind of frustration is Austin Dillon facing because his teammate has already been to Victory Lane a couple times this year well it can be frustration or you can also look at it as a huge opportunity for a long time RCR perhaps wondered what was beating them Tyler Reddick a year ago showed that they can win an RCR has proven this year they have winning equipment with Kyle Busch I think Keith rotten long time crew chief long time employee in the Chevy Camp between Hendrick Motorsports and now RCR um you know he knows he's worked in big organizations he was around HMS for the Jimmy Johnson years and some of these dominant seasons and I think he's got to keep Austin on the right track and understand that you know when we compare Austin Dillon to Kyle Bush it's a little unfair but that guy he's getting compared to I'm in my opinion is going to be a first ballot Hall of Famer looking back from Harvick and again Harvick came to Pit Road most recently on lap 245 he's running 17th here's a battle for fifth yeah the 99 is just trying to run long here and losing a spot here and there pretty easily to these cards on new tires Suarez and Dylan hanging on up in the top six Austin Dillon out in front we'll see if he can get a caution [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign has come to Pit Road as the leader of the New Hampshire Motor Speedway couldn't take it much longer he will have fuel and Goodyear tires to the end Rick that completes the cycle now as you'll see that guy pretty fast Mark direct Jr back up front well with the cycle complete you now see it on the left-hand side right 2x leads Blaney uh just over three seconds back Larson close to four seconds back legano Bell Hamlin Suarez Kozlowski Wallace now for Truex 43 laps to go you know we've heard all weekend about how hard this racetrack is how easy it is to make a mistake and especially running that high or as almost like a cushion you could easily kind of jump over as you see the 23 surpassing the 99 Kim and for the 99 of Daniel Suarez running in the ninth position they've just said and maintain as much as you can we are going to run the fuel cell drive we are hoping for a caution and we can hopefully flip the field so they are keeping their fingers crossed that somebody has an issue late in this race giving them the caution that they desperately need what's so wild about that strategy is they are literally sitting right on top of the cut line at the bubble this isn't the type of a gamble a team in such a very close position and points make Steve I'm really surprised by how aggressive this is I like it I like the aggressiveness of it but it could come around and and in the wrong way costing them a reasonable result today and they could leave here when they were you know right at the cut line they could leave here 15 20 points out I agree that it is a bit on the aggressive side but I think that's Travis Mack's signature I think we saw it when he worked for you at Junior Motorsports yeah Michael and that in the one car he made calls like this that got that car into the playoffs in years that perhaps people didn't think it was going to make it in and I I think this says a lot about where Travis thinks they're at he might not tell his team hey I'm not sure we can win but this tells me that he's like you know what trying to get your way in two points at a time that's not our move that's not what we're looking for I'm gonna be aggressive I'm gonna believe in my team I'm gonna believe in my driver and if it works out this could be the briefing from somebody at the cut line has been searching for over the last 10 weeks it's unbelievable battles here is the 19 car two-rex trying his work work his way through lap traffic look what's in front of him he is hoping that's not the caution I mean it is wild it's been like that all day the racing here has been amazing there's three wide two wives all over the place look at the lap sled and the top of the list Jeff Gordon Hall of Famer top you know two Tony Stewart Hall of Famer Martin trucks Jr he's been out front 219 laps today that number continuing to increase but third on the list of laps LED at this racetrack he's getting ready to lose a chunk of time to the two cars behind him it's already down to 2.2 seconds now remember Blaney has to go through this traffic as well but normally the second place guy has a little bit easier time getting through traffic and the other thing you said Steve right there was two cars it's not just Blaney anymore is Larson has tied on to this battle for the win drove his car up to almost the back bumper that 12 of Blaney second of the 12 car for second place [Music] three here for a little while when I'm talking about Martin Shrek's Jr as he's working his way through this lap traffic Martin trucks Junior's best finish here is third he's done it three times he has 33 career wins in the cup series and if we remember back to Marty's story about when he came here as a kid who was he watching and enamored by the driver of the three Dale Earnhardt can he get that first win at New Hampshire he is still 36 laps away from it now he's gone through most of that traffic trying to put a little distance on him and you'll we'll watch Steve as you said will it be easier on the second the third place car so far the lap traffic moving to the bottom of the racetrack allowing the 12 and the five to get through yeah that's why is that because until you're a lap down you fight the leader but once you're a lap down probably a little bit of respect although the 38 is going to slide up blamey's like no I'm running that lane I need the third lane I need the third lane well with 35 laps to go let's take a look a little bit deeper through the field here we'll start back in 11th with the 99 of Daniel Suarez his best finish here at this track is six but that was a long time ago six years ago when he was able to accomplish that Daniel Suarez coming off a best finish this season of second last week in Atlanta so Kevin Harvick right behind the 99 in the 12th position the 47 year old for Bakersfield California in his final season we're going to television for Fox next year but he wants to go out on top wants to get a win and I think everybody who had this track Circle four wins in New Hampshire it's a decent day today I'm not sure winning speed but with 34 laps to go you never know if we get a yellow and close up the field what can happen 43 car air Jones he's playing that same strategy we talked about with the 99 car remember he spun running 13s on lap 162. I'm sorry he's running 13th now but his last pitted on lap 188 so he'll have to pit before the end of this race we're trying to make something happen Chris Fisher on the 17 car having a pretty reasonable run today moving forward here trying to get around the 43 of Eric Jones it's been a solid year for this group and he has been a big part of lifting up this program over the last several months with Brad Keselowski Brad's been super complimentary about the driver that that Chris has been for this team looking for a win this year but uh gonna have to settle for a top 10 today I imagine just behind him Harrison Burton in the 21 the 22 year old we talked about maybe DNA helping out at this Racetrack and we've got an issue the 42 of Noah Gregson uh it looks as well something bro man yeah bring it back he said Frank rotor or something remember this is a driver that had break issues at St Louis and actually caused him to miss races after that wreck at St Louis so we just heard on the radio a brake rotor again we'll have to get a little bit more information to see if he's correct but you can see big damage to the ground or something there you go either a tire or a rotor he knows something failed on the 42 car yeah that wheel is about to come off yeah so you can see the concrete or the paint from the from the safer barrier in the lip of the wheel which tells me that he hit the wall very very hard let's take a look at it guys head down into the corner you see the right front just dropped and the car would not turn at that point so certainly the the right fronts down right there now it's never going to turn he thinks it might have broken a rotor it was just off Pit Road at lab 266. so that was like five laps ago so you wonder if the new tire let's watch this I mean for sure something on the right front goes down right whether it's the tire or a rotor cause of the tire or it's just a flat tire you know could there have been something that happened on the pit stop that damaged the valve spent the valve stem and a slow leak on the wheel either way a right front issue for the 42. maybe if it's a rotor we'll see things fly through the hood we'll see a big explosion on the right front fender Etc Steve don't really see that in this case guys I'm pretty sure on one of the first replays I saw I saw The Ring the lug come off I think the lug had the wheel came off well so the other thing that could happen to Rick's point is if the lug nut does come loose the wheel can there you go so if that's the wheel nut what happens is the wheel comes off the Hub enough that the brakes we showed you earlier in the animation how close the brakes are to the aluminum wheel and 140 miles an hour that is basically like putting it in a machine shop that brake rotor Cuts right through the aluminum wheel and takes all the air out right away so um that might have been exactly what happened Rick right is is the right there yeah so first of all tight wheel nuts don't come off even after hitting the wall makes no difference the impact won't change it so I Rick I think you're absolutely right I would say that the wheel came loose made contact cut through the wheel that's why we had a flat tire straight into the fence for the 42. unfortunate for Noah Gregson the five had just gotten around the 12 of Blaney well now it's decision time right what do you do most of the leaders have about 34 Laps on your tires we've seen two tires be an option will somebody think two tires in track Position will get the win with 29 to go four tires do you think you have to have them to win with 29 to go I believe Pit Road is going to be busy because I do think you're gonna have to come and put some fresh goodyears on Dave so Ryan Blaney was told the call is Orange He said oh I was thinking something different but I could go with that this may be two tires complaining him Daniel's on the five car set I'm thinking of Beaver Creek so that was the call Kyle said nothing about the car just said I need a drink of water if we have time no time though because two tires Marty for the five car when the caution came out you could hear the dejection and James Small's voice he said well that was pretty much our worst case scenario right sides only for James small and Martin Truex Jr trying to close one out of New Hampshire they've never been able to do it well all the leaders take two tires unfortunately for Ryan Blaney penalty coming up clean pit stop but watch as he leaves the tire changer doesn't leave he drives over the hose running over equipment penalty coming for Ryan Blaney foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] the Nascar Cup Series crayon 300 and one on USA continuing and I think speaking of continuing the intensity continues to pick up as the number of races go down next week it's Pocono three starts at Pocono are a bit stressful way up the racetrack the leader Kyle Bush the 18 several spots turn one's very inviting to go four five six wide you want to get as much as you can right then and there when everybody's all grouped up together they lean on each other a little bit really can't tell how many wide you are when you get to that certain point he's like like I can't tell it's on you you look like you're for a watch but I'm not sure I can't see him cannot see if there's any debris definitely need to position yourself based on the idea that chaos is getting into if not you're probably gonna end up correct another big weekend coming up for NASCAR on Saturday on USA it's countdown to Green at five o'clock Infinity Series racing 5 30. NASCAR America post ratio after the race and then Sunday countdown to Green at two I'm sorry at 2 30. and once again NASCAR America post race show on peacock right after the checkered Flags fly so we talk a lot about pit stops we saw Blaney he absolutely had the penalty for running over equipment but Kevin Harvick Austin Dillon did not come to Pit Road remember Dylan was probably the last part of Pitt has pretty fresh tires this restart could get stacked up 24 laps to go and already Harvick jumps out in front and here comes Mark Trex Jr actually what Truex wanted to see he wanted to see that three-car not get a good launch that allowed him easily to turn left with better tires on the four car here comes a 22 legano trying to get around the four as well Briscoe backed or he actually hit the back end of the five of Larson and they're being very aggressive on this restart two and three wide back there coming up just over 20 laps to go Rick all chips are in you got what you got ta go out there and try to make it happen so a lot of banging around here the five-car Larson now trying to get by the four Harvick throttles up off a turn two down the back straight away holding out of that third spot is Kevin Harvick I did close there Larson just in front of the three of Austin Dillon Reddick in the 45. five now Austin Dillon had to check up big right there not to wreck the five car the crossover and Dylan comes to the inside of the 45. look at his final position the battle for the lead knows heating right up Pagano is right there the 19 not able to drive away here oh we got a crash I reckon 48 on the back stretch Alex Bowman in front of it everybody gathers it up but the caution's out [Music] so the caution comes out for the seventh time and another restart in front of us yeah now fresh tires are over for the leaders whatever you have on is what you have with 21 to go 19 92 couple new englanders up front but it was right here the fight for real estate and into the back of the 48 was the 54 of Gibbs [Music] foreign thank you Victory Lane is Joey Logano Kyle Busch will win at New Hampshire Kevin Harvick has done what he needed to do this afternoon [Music] [Applause] [Music] the lobster awaits whoever makes it to Victory Lane today will it be Mark trucks Jr who would do it for the first time in a cup car or could it be a repeat for Legato or Harvick loud in the lobster right there it's Larry Larry Larry a lot okay you can rename it whatever you want take a look at what happened just moments ago you see Ty Gibbs Alex Bowman now it's up the racetrack then underneath them essentially it's four wide and just not enough room 54 into the left rear quarter panel of Bowman I don't know how this wasn't a bigger wreck I mean this happened look how many cars are behind this Bowman did an incredible job of saving that and Bowman's not happy you know he just got running the left for the quarter panel about no more than 99 here Daniel Suarez as he tries to avoid it's tough especially late in this race to have the patience to let that play out and not drive yourself right into a crash all those drivers doing an amazing job and you have to think about the 48 car and what damage he has to the left front from the contact of Eric Jones Dave when Paul wolf and I spoke this morning he wasn't sure what was going to happen in the first 10 laps of the race now with just the two fresh tires you know how much Joey can get done against Truex and the rest well like I said uh you know Michelle pennzo afford we've came here this weekend trying something new trying to maybe a little more out of our comfort zone like I told you I wasn't sure how it was going to race we didn't get those long runs in practice but obviously we had a solid car all day um Joey's done a good job managing it I think we've got it as good as we're going to get it at this point and we know we put him up front here uh at a shootout like this he's as good as anybody so we'll see what happens but uh proud all the effort everyone working towards uh you know trying to find more speed we haven't been where we wanted to be this year but we're working hard and nothing better than running well at New Hampshire for a couple of New England guys yeah it doesn't hurt it's always fun to come up here and see if we can get us another Lobster all right Paul and Joey are both from up here Marty let's chat with James small and see what he thinks about Martin truck Jr trying to get their first New Hampshire win so he didn't take off quite as quick there after dominating the day was it because of the two-time tires and the difference in handling yeah definitely just a little bit different uh Martin's uh not the greatest true tires fan but you know I couldn't afford to give up the track position there we would have been buried so um hopefully it like equalizes a little bit here after after that cycle and uh we can drive up into the distance you told him you have not been shifting all day long everyone else has do you want him to shift on this restart yeah we're just let him know that maybe they have a little bit more acceleration doing it being a shorter run we don't have to look after the tires as much so we'll see he's a good operator he knows what's going on so hopefully it works out there you go so Jeff how interesting would that be twitch really has not shifted pretty much all day long and now maybe needs to change up the game to win the race what do you think well a Truex is a veteran and he's been shifting you know what I mean it's not uncommon to shift so if he feels like he needs his heart shift and I don't think that's a big change for Martin the big thing is this launch the inside line typically does not get a good restart so right now Martin is that so the whole key is to beat Lugano into turn one and it all starts in a restart Zone and that happens in about 100 yards as they're two by two now Mark tricks Jr on the outside legano on the inside Legato not as good a restart as we saw out of the 19. Truex Jr clears him by a car Lane Chase Brisco to the inside of a five car back there not going to be able to make that work Larson accelerates look at Harvick on the outside back into third he's gonna have a run on Joey down the back straight away he stays in line kick all the way on the bottom of the racetrack oh one car way up the racetrack one carve Chastain trying to gather it up here if you pick down the racetrack as they come off turn four top two separating themselves now as it's three wide back here with Kozlowski on the inside Austin Dillon on the top of the racetrack side really making it hard for all of these guys on the inside will finish the throttle and get acceleration off the corner on the bottom so tough to do almost contact right there and back up front the battle for the lead still tight between the 22 and legato separating the two the 19 of Martin Truex Jr out front 14 laps remain s up the racetrack trying to take the line away from lagano trying to find some extra speed up there we heard James small mention I hope that they've equalized as far as the difference between two tires and four tires so that he could pull away but he hasn't put a dominant performance on the 20. the 20's hard in the wall Christopher Bell big contact with the world stay down there look at the damage to the right rear [Music] 20 was running in eighth place sure if you get any contact or just sailed it into three just trying to do too much you can see the car sideways and he's just chasing it up the racetrack no way to save it huge huge impact too big damage right there yeah yeah so that's so tough man late late in the race top 10 run going you know you probably with the car you have should have finished you know finished in the top three even this car has had speed all day long and now you're gonna have a terrible result I mean the the emotions and and frustrations from that tough to deal what's the driver here he's looking at the wall hands flying off the steering wheel just a lot going on in there see you did a great job of standing in the gas right here trying all he could to keep it from impacting the wall any harder than it was going to but it happened so late in the corner it's no way to get it slowed down really it was this race last year that Christopher Bell really started things off as his Run for the championship four let's listen in on the 19 radio now all we'll see this is crash by yourself and all the reason Martin's saying that is because he feels like that he had finally found that Rhythm he was looking for and was finally starting to put some distance between him and the 22. he moved up the racetrack and took Joey's line away and now Joey was having to recreate something back there trying to find that speed to close the gap and we understand the frustration having a teammate wreck but but Christopher was out there racing too he's trying to get the best finish he can and the only way you can is by pushing hard Monday there'll be a suggestion box that Joe Gibbs Racing and we'll see if uh Martin will go with that suggestion [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] only nine laps to go from the magic file Bart Trek Jr can he hold on and hold off hard charging Legato as well as Larson you see Joey Logano he had a choice he could have lined up on the inside line next to Martin Truex but he decided no he could not get launched on that inside line now he's lined up behind Truex and you would think that's a submission move but it actually it's an offense move get a great launch enter turn one right to the 19 carbs or bumper and see if you can make something happen the bottom hasn't worked try something different but it puts Larson now on the front row gives those guys an opportunity to steal one here as well as the 45 of Reddick again the top four range two tires the last time on Pit Road Great flag back in the air nine to go at the magic mile Lugano trying to clear the five they're three wide back there for sixth Legato just gets in front of the five he's up to second and that's exactly what he wanted he was afraid with that Bob car sitting there if he didn't get a great launch he was gonna be running third everyone using this race track up all the way from the double white line to the almost the wall to Dylan apron when he entered the Turn 4 wide Brad Keselowski in the six and it looks like the 45 is fighting something Tyler Reddick fighting the wheel as he was entering three big loose big lead Trex Jr a half a second now over legato Brandon got loose off of turn four couldn't clear the sixth and put back his Laskey that's gonna allow Brad to take the spot back here in turn one and two look at the Gap Mark trucks Jr is putting on Legato Larson falls back to third Harvick fourth Kozlowski and fifth Chase Briscoe right there in the 14 having a great run today a little wiggle on his car as well off the corner pressure on him he looks to the inside Stuart Hall's here in New Hampshire [Music] reading through the crossover move comes to the inside of the three of Dylan and I drafted him down the back straight away Dylan back to the inside here trying to get there can't do it Danny takes a spot away from Briscoe behind them and those two trying to stay in front of the 24 but William Byron trying to Surge ahead on that outside line did he handling up the racetrack with the three
