my next project is this really new looking a lot more my neighbor brought it over and it won't start this is the first time that we're more in our lawns a spring it worked fine last year it's only a year and nothing [Music] go away yesterday and here's what I here's what you want to check obviously is there gas in there and yes there's gas in there Oh is there a spark plug in there no there's no spark plug in there let's put one a spark plug yesterday what we did was we it's likely something to do with it just having gas in it left in it over the winter and it might have gummed up the carburetor usually sometimes that gas can go bad and in if you can get it out of there which we did they hold this hose down here where it turns the carburetor dumped all that gas drained it into a receptacle responsibly filled it back up with fresh gas then you still have gas left in the bowl and the carburetor which is which is right here which this doesn't really have a drain bolt on it that I can feel I feel like we got it all out because when I took this off and dumped it back a lot of gas came out still not working so after you know you have gas what you want to do is check for a spark so you want to take your spark plug out and you ground it which means make sure it's touching something kind of substantial metal like this exhaust which is connected to everything else and we're going to pull the starter cord and see if we can see a spark between the electrode and this tip out here alright I'm gonna turn off the light so it's a little easier to see you see this bark alright so traditional so we'll say yeah there's three things you need you need gas spark and air here's usually not the problem but air lives on here this is the air filter and you can just take this sucker off while you're testing things obviously if there's if this is all full of stuff that could be your problem but on a new motor like this I knew that's not going to be the problem so that's not gonna be an issue so we'll put that back okay before you put a new spark plug in it's not a bad idea to make sure that you have the gap the distance between the electrode and the tip set correctly I just googled Briggs and Stratton mark plug gap and it came up with this chart and it shows that if you're using an AR c12 YC which this is you need a spark plug gap of point zero three inches so there's a special tool for that let me show my spark plug gap looks like a gapper looks like this and it's kind of ancient but this is point three zero which on the back is 0.76 millimeters and what you're going to do is just check because this wire is that diameter and on mine I can't get it in between there so you need to open this up just a bit use this to kind of lever it back try it again it's just that was way too much so I'm going to just tap it on the concrete here and that's about right there so it's going through there fine okay let's put that in now okay we're gonna put our spark plug in I don't have a ton of confidence that this is gonna fix it I think I'm gonna have to take it out again to try some other things but I'm not gonna get it real tight you never want to get your spark plug too tight but we'll just snug it up all right the brand new ones have a little bit of a crush washer on these be crushed not too much don't don't do it too hard okay put your boot back on until it clicks well let's give it a try and see what happens like I said I think it's the carburetor but let's give it a try [Music] Oh what do I know okay that was a problem yo yo this fixed spark plug did the trick dang I feel like I cheated you out of the rest of the video using starter fluid a lot of times you can get motor started by you pull that plug out squirt a little this in there give it a pull it'll run on that you can also score it a little into right here and this will go in and and sometimes that can help you get some of that bad gas out not necessary now I guess that's it for this project shoot sorry I wish there'd have been more broken but that's it good luck
