okay we're hiding under a tree because it just started to rain a little bit and I'll keep the camera dry but what we have here is our Murray 22-inch pretty much standard no frills lawn mower works gotta have to come so 3.8 horsepower engine on it it hasn't run for a couple years it's been sitting in one of the garages so I tried to start at 10 15 20 poles put in some new gas no joy so what probably happens is the carburetor gets lacquered up a little bit with old gas so what I did is I let the all the gas evaporate out and today and about 10 minutes I'm going to show you how to fix it first thing going to do even if you know nothing about lawn mowers is typically underneath that little bulb the primer bulb is something that looks like a cap upside down that is your carburetor cup there's typically a bolt underneath it so we're going to loosen that bolt and we're going to spray some carburetor cleaner up there and then we're going to reseat that cup 99% of the time that's all you need to do to fix the mower to get it started and we'll put a little sea foam in there that's this stuff here let's cost about six bucks a cam can we're going to put a boat I don't know eighth of a cup quarter cup and a full tank of gas and that'll help clean out the rest of the scaling and deposits on there so I just have my ratchet set to get at the bolt which I know is underneath there I can feel it with my finger well loosen that and I suspect that the gasket is bad so yesterday I went to our local lawnmower supply company told them the engine number on there there each mention has a serial number and they sold me a new gasket that looks about the right size and this cost me a dollar 31 so I had the cleaner in the garage already I had the tools this is going to cost me a dollar 31 to get running so without much further ado let's get this thing apart squirt it with the cleaner put some new gasket on there seafoam it up put some gas in and we'll fire it up here we go okay I've got my socket set feel around underneath the bolt there I may lose a little fuel and just going to undo that bolt what you're going to do there's the bolt that holds it in what you're going to do is save yourself about 40 or 50 dollars worth of labor okay so here comes the carb Cup that's it look the camera here's the gasket that looks kinked and kind of eaten away so I'm glad I got a new dollar 31 gasket for it to come to so I'm going to spray new stuff up there and put that to the side make sure we're focused got my carb cleaner brake cleaner my carb cleaner is actually over at my daughter's house we're going to her mower spray that up there spray a little bit in this bolt that holds the cup in there and now we'll eat away the paint so you have to rinse this off pretty quick now that looks pretty good I'm going to spray this out to get the residue off the old off the old cup the old a gasket residue and I'll wipe it off with a paper towel let me go grab that just to clean it out so I'm going to leave a new gasket right in there very carefully has to be an exact fit you have that fits very nice and you just place the cup back underneath it and screw that back in that's all we're going to do just enough to get the socket back on there old gasket is trash back this up to give you a better view all right is bone-dry and gas so what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna add a tiny bit of gas and a little sea foam there we go prime it three times watch the gas coming out of the carb one two three back on and we're going to try to start this thing it may take a couple pulls because it's been a couple years
