why can't i get a simple quote for a covered porch my name is bobby williams vgw construction i've been doing this for a quarter of a century let me tell you why it's so tough here's the problem people want a cost like it's walmart right i'm going to go buy a tv what is this going to cost i'm going to scroll through amazon and i'm gonna buy an outdoor space with a covered porch it's not that easy it's not that easy because there's a myriad of decisions that you have to make that that cover costs about your covered porch do you want a metal roof do you want shingled roof do you want a flat roof which is also called a shed roof are we doing a gable are we doing a hip are you doing seed or trim what kind of a cover are you putting underneath it what's your lighting an electrical plant all of these questions everything adds to the cost and so here's the problem what we need to do is we need to create a design and so years ago bgw construction began offering design services we do it in house and so you work with us with our design team to come up with your your dream space this is exactly what i want my my structure to look like this is what i want my outdoor space to look like maybe you need some help you're not really sure the size you're not really sure about the tie-in we'll help you with that and so as we work through this process we answer these questions we're gonna do a shingled roof it's a tie-in to your roof line because you've got a ranch home we're going to do a a car sided cathedral ceiling with some can lights two or three ceiling fans depending on the size maybe a plug up high for for some string lights all of these questions we're going to have answered in your design phase and then we'll give you a price and whenever we give you a price that price is line itemed out right with a with exactly what we're doing from demo all the way down to finish paint final grade seed and straw and we're going to tell you what each one of those things is going to cost so you can decide you know what that wooden sided oak ceiling that we thought we wanted isn't that important because i don't want to pay 5 000 for that and so this is why whenever you have contractors come out some won't even give you a quote because they don't have a design they don't even know how to approach it some of them just give you a big number but you're asking yourself what is it going to look like where's my money going we show you what it's going to look like and how much it's going to cost by line items so that you have control and you can decide what you want to spend on your on your space here's the problem if you have five contractors come out and you don't have a design you don't have a drawing that shows exactly what you want you're gonna get five different numbers but not because they do different quality of work they're quoting different things we're gonna have all of your selections picked out in this design process and so what we do at bgw construction is we take your thoughts and we turn them into 3d renderings so that you can you can see exactly what this space is going to look like at the back of your house before you spend any money those 3d renderings are converted to architectural designs that are permittable and you can also turn them into your bank if you want to get a loan and the bank will the bank will look at these drawings and be able to tell you what this is going to be worth after it's finished and maybe it helps you get a better equity line of credit but the most important facet of this that i want to make sure that you understand is where is my money going this is hard earned money where is it going what is it going to look like so now we have your designs done they're permittable you can take them to a bank you can take them to other contractors if you want you've paid for them right these are your designs ideally we've seduced you to work with bgw construction nobody knows these designs like we do and we're going to build it better i would argue than anybody else but the most important thing is you've got a value and now you have a plan and whether you can afford it now or you want to phase it out or you want to put it off until next year or the year after that you can save up for but now you know exactly what this backyard is going to look like this is why people struggle to give you a quote because they don't know what you want they don't know how to put it so how many times have you called a contractor and they don't ever call you back hey i'll give you a quote by the end of the week three weeks go by you're calling them they're ghosting you we will give you final designs that you have approved with a scope of work that's line itemed out with our costs next to each one of those line items that you can be educated and make a good decision on and the goal is that at the end of this construction sucks right it sucks to have people that you don't know show up to your house and do work our goal is to streamline the construction process all of these decisions are made all of the selections are made we order all the products and we're in and out as quickly as possible within reason and when we're done you have a product that you love that you approved a couple weeks ago whenever we did the design that's the whole beauty of the design build process so if this helped
