hi I'm trash and I'm finally touching some grass in this video it won't help anything let's get into it uh we're going to talk about Cottage core wait that's Roco but uh why why are all of these rcoo images because to understand the modern Cottage core and tradwife movements we have to go back we have to go back to a time when wealth inequality was rampant when the rich people didn't understand the plight of the lower class classes when people were dying in the streets of war and riots and plagues a time when everyone yearned to return to this simpler time when things were easy a time when wealthy people were cosplaying as agrarian rural Farmers to escape from it all that's right pre-revolutionary France you might say that Maran tette invented Cottage Corps um she was really into this style of this agrarian peasant style that she sort of popularized in Versailles she kept this place called the Queen's Hamlet which was this rural almost like a fake rural village where she staffed it with these like peasants who you know pretended to be these agrarian farmers and she got to dress up in their cute little Aesthetics of course some people say she was like out there pretending to be a farmer but mostly this was just an aesthetic thing she was like hosting cute little parties there um she wasn't actually like out there pretending to be a real milkmade it was mostly just a cute little aesthetic thing that she was doing and it was real cute it was wealthy people cosplaying as agrarian Farmers but this wasn't like you know how rich people are wearing car heart nowadays these were garments that were extremely expensive and showed off their wealth while simultaneously being in this sort of peasant style which is very similar to what Cottage core and these other things are today these are very expensive clothes a lot of the time very expensive kitchens but they're designed in a way that looks rustic Marie Antoinette specifically was using this to escape from the Troubles of Palace life um the French were really mean to her they did not like this Austrian Queen and they were very vocal about that so she spent kind of as much time as she could once you know she was Queen not in Versailles kind of trying to avoid that with her own friend group just off in this little cottage Cottage core Hamlet that she owned and uh that's kind of what Cottage core is it's this way of escaping troubled Modern Life hearkening back to a simpler time when things were easy and quaint and um that was what rcoo was about too you know until they Cho popped off her head but roko wasn't totally innocent there was a lot of French xenophobia within the cottage Corp sorry within the roko movement um it kind of hearkened back to this time before there were all these English and Germanic influences back when the French were French it Incorporated a lot of this right-wing aristocratic anti-foreigner sentiments within this roko movement um that wouldn't think looking at all of these pretty paintings that this was a fundamentally right-wing xenophobic aristocratic movement but it was this movement was a push back against uh Germanic and English influences in French culture largely it was actually a very right-wing movement it was incredibly xenophobic and very like a very fundamentally right-wing reactionary movement despite the cute pastoral aesthetic you wouldn't think looking at these paintings that this was a movement largely based on a sort of French racism uh and you know racism is you know one of the French values so it really was returning to French values with this movement including racism and xenophobia you know and you know [ __ ] the poor am I right yeah [Music] the hippie movement similarly seized upon this Back To Nature ideology this egalitarian fantasy it encouraged people to drop out of modern society and it also embraced this free love movement which was aided by the pill being widely available um feminists within this kind of hippie movement hearkened back to this imagined matriarchal society where women were in charge and like there are mineal societies but it wasn't really what these feminists we imagining um so this movement basically encouraged people to hearken back to this egalitarian fantasy people formed these communes it was a very left-wing movement starting out kind of it was anti-war it Incorporated a lot of aspects of like Eastern philosophies cultural appropriation was a big problem but still it Incorporated all of this like peaceloving anti-war egalitarian a lot of s anti- capitalist ideologies within the early hippie movement but that didn't last and this movement had its own Aesthetics there were the um peasant blouses they were the big colored sunglasses uh long hair like long straight hair um blue jeans were a popular symbol of like women's Liberation during this movement uh they were fighting for the right to literally just wear pants but you can see in like the styles with the peasant blouses and stuff it was hearkening back to this imagined time of Liberation and you know Back To Nature instead of looking at the modern day where everything was plagued with war and riots and inequality a lot of the Aesthetics of the hippie movement still exist and are kind of incorporated into Cottage core today uh we see this with like mushrooms the sort of kind of like orangey tones and like those Sears mushrooms those Sears mushrooms are so popular right now I got into a fist fight with a lady at the antique store over a Sears mushroom teapot oh man she won I'm small and I don't know how to fight so that's why there's no Sears mushroom here yeah those things were crazy popular anyway the movement also focused on like sustainability sustainable practices being in communion and PE at peace with nature communing with nature um going back to sort of more sustainable times there was a lot of appropriation of like indigenous cultures and stuff to like the noble savage ideology but overall the movement was it did have some good ideas it was like let's get Back To Nature let's be more sustainable let's not go to war all the time let's not feed this evil corporate War Machine all the time and just feed all of our young men into it uh started out pretty good but it didn't stay that way the 60s and 70s were marked with political turmoil there were riots in the streets War famine all kinds of bad stuff happening so people were ripe for this sort of movement and the sort of right-wing backlash that it engendered and so it was quickly co-opted by Bad actors who brought in these ideas of like antiva ideology um anti-science ideology going against like modern medicine big Pharma which like some of that can be reasonable but it didn't stay reasonable so we see this like right-wing ideology kind of poisoning what sorted out fundamentally as this anti-war Back To Nature movement and now you have modern hippies so the modern hippie movement incorporates aspects of spirituality like conspirituality is what it's called there's a whole podcast in book conspirituality where incorporates these fundamentally right-wing conspiracy theories into this pre-existing kind of hippie Back To Nature ideology in order to turn people against science turn people against modern medicine and turn people down this fundamentally right-wing path there's the wellness to far right pipeline like that episode of Maintenance phase that you've probably already listened to it's super popular where people get into this hippie movement this like hippie Wellness alternative medicine and then they end up literal Nazis um one of the most Insidious aspects to me of this movement is this um manifestation ideology like you manifest things by thinking really hard about them and like if you think about something bad that thing will happen to you you just have to have good vibes and think positively and your life will go well and if you think about bad things your life will go badly this is fundamentally a system of shutting down criticism it shuts down the ability to criticize the system because oh if you think bad thoughts you're just feeding into the Badness this is some rich people [ __ ] meant to stop us from questioning them oh your the food you have access to is making you unhealthy don't think about that or you will be unhealthy oh you have cancer don't think about it don't get treatment for it that's just feeding the cancer with your bad thoughts try [ __ ] meditation Instead This is like a really dangerous Insidious ideology and it is a brainworm it's telling people that like oh if you have negative thoughts if you have any negative thoughts you're making bad things happen with your magic brain powers that is that's a [ __ ] Cognito Hazard yeah as a neurod dierent person with some obsessive Tendencies I I really needed to hear that didn't I I really needed to hear that if I ruminate on something or worry about something that I'm making it happen with my magic brain Powers I really needed to hear that thank you hippies yeah it's [ __ ] and it shuts down the ability of people who are involved in this kind of thing to change society because if you think about the bad things that are happening in society you're making them happen with your magic brain powers and this one ideology that's incorporated into the modern hippie movement I think is one of the worst things that we've introduced into society my friend just the other day was talking about how he's worried that one day he's going to get dementia because everyone in his family has dementia and he's likely to develop it as he ages and he was just sharing his worries with me and then he stopped himself and he said oh but I shouldn't talk about this or then it definitely will happen and I said dude dude that is not how it works manifestation isn't you're not you can you can say the things you're worried about you can share your feelings with your friends but he was indoctrinated into this ideology that's so prevalent in society right now you manifest what you speak you manifest what I was telling a yoga teacher that I had an injury I was saying oh I can't back bend right now I might never be able to back bend because my wrist is completely fcked and she said oh don't say that you manifest what you speak I was like [ __ ] I'm telling you that I have an injury and that I can't do this what the hell are you talking about you manifest what you speak and it's not just like hippie [ __ ] in a yoga class this is infected Society my friend didn't feel safe talking about the things he was worried about with his health because he's been told if you talk about things you'll make them happen with your magic brain powers that is and that is a fundamentally right-wing belief if something bad happens to you it's your fault for thinking the wrong thoughts structural issues don't exist don't think about the structural issues that are harming you it's all your fault for having bad vibes and not thinking the right thoughts have you ever noticed how poor people think about money a lot obviously they're making themselves poor that's a fundamental that's that's Prosperity doctrine that is prosperity Doctrine which is a right-wing Evangelical belief and yet these people who are part of this Back To Nature hippie woo aesthetic are spouting what is fundamentally a right-wing Christian belief because the aesthetic has been incorporated into this right-wing ideology it's been co-opted by these Bad actors who didn't want the hippies you know who were making these big political gains they didn't want this left-wing activism so they co-opted the aesthetic and incorpor ated their own Nazi [ __ ] into it and then it also incorporates this uh Cult of Domesticity this like gender essentialism into it too like Embrace Your Divine femininity don't be in your masculine don't talk back to a man or you're in your masculine and you're harming Yourself by being masculine it's basically saying you have to be passive you have to be sweet you have to be good a good girl or else you're in your masculine and that's so bad for you you shouldn't be in a leadership role as a woman that's masculine that's bad for you you want to be in your divine feminine by being passive just that's gender fundamentalism I don't know what to tell you this modern hippie movement has this perfect polished aesthetic of like a pretty white girl with dreadlocks and they use that pretty white girl with dreadlocks as a mouthpiece for these right-wing ideologies of gender fundamentalism of this idea that you can't talk about your own oppression or else you're causing your own oppression and you just are anyway because your oppression isn't real you're causing it with your bad vibes this stuff is being pushed through this perfect polished hippie aesthetic and we should be suspicious of any movement that has this perfect polished aesthetic like this because real real social movements real grass Grassroots genuine social movements aren't pretty anesthetic they're ugly they're loud they're annoying and they cause real change to happen these real social movements don't look pretty they don't look polished they're not like aesthetic because they're fighting a fight and they're doing real political activism these modern hippies are just mouthpieces for right-wing [ __ ] and this crunchy conspiracy brain thinking has killed thousands of children through the antix movement through the anti-mask movement from these people who have this aesthetic that we think of as being this fundamentally left-wing aesthetic but it isn't not anymore it's been effectively co-opted at this point so now when I see a pretty white girl in a peasant blouse with dreadlocks I don't think oh a hippie I think that's probably a [ __ ] Nazi she probably doesn't think she's a Nazi but she has the ideology because a lot of these people believe in stuff like Eugenics they believe in stuff like Prosperity Doctrine they believe in gender fundamentalism but they would never say it that way because they don't even realize those are their beliefs because it's masked in this being your divine feminine Divine masculine you manifest what you speak it's this woo talk that indoctrinates them into this literal Nazi [ __ ] that they don't even realize they believe because it's so thoroughly veiled in this hippie woo aesthetic and fascism is very good at doing that they're very good at co-opting movements at advertising themselves selling themselves using whatever is currently in the cultural Zeitgeist appropriating whatever they have to and sticking their own message into it and then feeding it back to you to get you into their ideology of eugenics gender fundamentalism um you know antix anti- big Pharma anti-regulation at the same time somehow um Christian Christian values being a Trad wife they're like really good at doing this the cottage core aesthetic became popular in the early 2010s but it wasn't named Cottage core until 2018 it was this aesthetic movement online people were posting these pretty images of gingham dresses homemade bread rustic farmhouses uh chickens on their Pinterest and on aesthetic tumblers um yeah this movement largely started with just a fashion it combined aspects of Mory of sweet Lolita and of like Neo Victorian and it combined them into this very new very distinct aesthetic that was well later became Cottage core uh we actually see a lot of like Cottage Corp in sweet Lolita and these other styles and we can see how they influenced into what is now Cottage core um some of the scenes out of the Lolita film comic aazy girls are just straight up Cottage core if you look at that if you rewatch that which I recommend yeah so it focused on these like rustic farmhouses cute blonde children pretty girls in jingum in gingham dresses feeding chickens basically it was the intro to the Great British Bake Off um you know compiled into aesthetic blogs so yeah it was named Cottage core in 2018 though but it existed way before that on aesthetic Tumblr and pinest boards and in this kind of alternative fashion community so this style was big long before the pandemic started but the style really erupted during the pandemic when we were all looking for something to do and returning to all of these more traditional rustic Hobbies like baking bread knitting sewing gardening I know I got really into leftist gardening podcasts in 2020 and definitely got radicalized there which I'm sure happened to a lot of people but on the other side there were these far-right Bad actors using this new interest in this Back To Nature egalitarian movement to pipeline people into the far right as they've done with a lot of previous aesthetic movements but before this era before the 2010s um there were a lot of these people trying to pipeline people in interested in small Family Farms sustainable farming organic food knitting canning into these far-right pipelines but they had limited reach these were like Mormon mommy bloggers um this was like a complaint for a long time among people who were interested in these kind of things where you would be looking up canning recipes trying to try out a new pickle recipe and the best pickle recipe you could find was from a Blog called like God and Country wife traditional housewife with like I love God I serve my husband in her description um so that was like a common problem was like online a lot of the people who were into canning traditional skills bread making small farming were these far-right mommy bloggers who had a lot of crazy things to say it was a lot of Mormons um so this wasn't like a new thing but at this point in the 2010s and during the pandemic the far right was very tech-savvy at this point and they had what we now have as the influencer instead of just a mommy blogger they were able to get all of these pretty girls to put on Gham dresses and stand in their cute rustic Farmhouse kitchens with their pretty blonde children and say if you want to live like this you need to submit to a husband and God and be one of us far right crazy people uh that's what Cottage cor is really about and um that worked they got a lot of reach a lot of people hate interacted which just fueled them further and now we have what we have today which is this huge tradwife movement where tons of women like young girls mostly who are into these Cottage core Aesthetics into things like knitting and baking end up in these far-right pipelines with these pretty blonde women young women usually telling them to submit to a husband and be a traditional wife and those women are making a ton of money doing that because influencing is a job um and a lot of these far-right these early far-right influencers were paid to do it like classically Abby um B Shapiro's sister was pretty much recruited and paid to do this and this is not a new tactic but we see it a lot more in the tens and 20s with like influencers just funneling more and more people they have so much reach now and in that time period it was Easy Pickins um people were desperate for something different because you know there's ramp inequality plagues uh riots in the streets corrupt politicians War all these things people want to escape from and so they want to escape into this mythical simpler time and these far-right influencers were happy to give them that and happy to sell it to them with their own far-right beliefs mixed in you know they took this beautiful thing and they put a bunch of poison in it and distributed it and they distributed it really well I mean Cottage Corp initially was just a fashion movement just this like arts and fashion movement and really it was kind of anti- capitalist it was a lot of DIY you know gardening baking your own bread it's a lot of these are very leftist things I don't know if you've talked to your leftist friends lately but they're very into DIY um but you know the far right is really good at branding so they were able to really really effectively Co-op this movement just like the other ones the tradwife movement followed the cottage Corp movement on platforms like Tumblr Tick Tock and Pinterest but it wasn't a new thing this was just kind of the latest co-option of one of these aesthetic movements these same kinds of people had been around a long time in the mommy blogger sphere these mommy bloggers had espoused the same beliefs this Trad wife belief Trad wife aesthetic be submissive to your husband love God live on a small family farm can all of your own food some of that stuff is fine but these people had existed for a long time espousing these farri ideologies but this was the first time that it was picked up on the influencer class on these platforms like Tik Tok Tumblr Pinterest the other ones and oo it really blew up but it wasn't initially called tradwife the first min of the term tradwife that I could find was in 2018 from an article called The Housewives of white supremacy this first use I could find of the term tradwife referred to this far-right housewife influencer who said and I quote I always wanted children that looked like me blond hair blue-eyed babies but I kind of had to say it under my breath she gives details about how she had this lucrative career but then happily gave it up to be become what we now today would call a Trad wife to her far right Christian husband so it's clear from the start like the very first mention of this term that this was a white supremacist movement meant to encourage white women to have white babies like most white supremacist movements these women these early Trad wives were promoting a white ethnos State and that was the whole movement it was be a traditional wife by popping out as many white babies as we can so that we can have a white ethnostate but this isn't a that's not a very far-reaching sales pitch is it I want white babies is not a very far-reaching sales pitch they needed something a little less overtly racist which is why they adopted the Aesthetics and ideologies supposedly of the cottage Corp movement they started posting pictures of small Family Farms women in gangam dresses with tons of little white babies following after them and that was very effective these platforms like Tik Tok Pinterest Tumblr love a good aesthetic so these pretty young blonde women selling this ideology with their cute dresses and white babies that did it didn't it that was far-reaching they got a lot of hate interactions by people who clocked them as white supremacists but it also just reached people looking at this aesthetic that they liked Cottage core was hugely popular at the time and they were able to ride the coattails of cottage core straight into everyone's phones and start indoctrinating all of these young women who are fed up with capitalism a lot of the people who got sucked into this had very real reasons to hate their lives and this fascist ideology was like oh you hate living under capitalism you hate this what you really need is our ideology they took all of these very real complaints about like people being overworked and underpaid not having any time for hobbies um sexual harassment in the workplace and they said hey girls we have a solution for you just submit to your traditional Christian husband and do everything he wants and you'll be safe and happy in a pretty dress on a farm with a bunch of children and you'll never be sexually harassed again you'll be safe and happy that was a good sales pitch that's a pretty good sales pitch you'll be safe and happy and you won't ever be sexually harassed because you'll be in a cute modest dress and that's all you have to do just make your husband happy and you'll have a nice happy life that was an easy script and there was already a lot of precedent within these other movements that had been co-opted where they could use things like your divine feminine this is what divine femininity is they were able to spread this message through a bunch of different online subcultures using whatever terminology worked for that subculture and push this Trad wife lifestyle yeah the farri is good at branding the farri is good at branding they took all of people's very reasonable complaints child care costs are too high capitalism all of those things and they said we have one simple easy solution for you capitalists hate him he has one easy solution that solution is fascism but you know pretty feminine fascism pitching an easy simple solution to complicated problems is just good marketing um this was not an accident this was not this organic movement it was a deliberate attempt to bring women into this far-right ideology in 2016 these far-right red pill and other alt-right men were openly discussing what they call the woman question on forums like achan the other 4chan they were talking about how they could get women into this altright it was hard to do that was a hard sell because the altright the red pill people are just incredibly misogynistic they create people like Elliot Rogers men who just hate women and are incredibly misogynistic towards them so getting women into a movement like that that was a hard ask that's a hard sell I mean sure there are some women who are just such white supremacists that they're willing to put up with this for the purpose of furthering white supremacy but most women don't didn't feel that way so they had to get an in with women so they started openly conspiring to push this tradwife thing um they paid women to be mouthpieces for this like Abby Shapiro been Shapiro's sister they convinced these women that they could be be big influencers if they pushed this lifestyle if they created this propaganda and content creation was becoming immensely profitable at this time so that was an easy sell for women who just wanted to make an easy Buck running around in pretty dresses twirling around in their gingham dresses saying Nazi [ __ ] you know thinly veiled feminine Nazi [ __ ] but Nazi [ __ ] so these women were like sure I'm not an ethical person I'll do that and then you ended up with all these tradwife influencers and sure some of them are genuine there's uh that pair of Evangelical sisters who call themselves girl defined This was um before the tradwife movement it's an early example of these women who spouted this Evangelical beliefs they were very focused on like Purity culture but this was an early example of the way the far-right evangelicals and the altright both were trying to put this fresh young feminine face on What was ideologically a far-right woman hating ideology and movement so we see that girl defin was an early prototype for this but these tradwife influencers really perfected it and you see people like classically Abby going viral I don't know those other tradwife influencers that always have their boobs out can't really name any of them you see that they were very successful they got a lot of hate comments and you know they were easily able to funnel these very you know young girls into this tradwife lifestyle that they themselves weren't living because they're propagandists we see this a lot in farri movements um they're very anti-woman they don't allow women to have the social positions unless these women are effective propagandists for them and we see this in even like the actual Nazis had women who weren't making white babies like they wanted them to because they were effective propagandists they were allowed to you know do that instead like um the British fascist leader rotha Linton Orman she did not live what she preached she preached that women should be submissive domestics in the home producing a ton of white babies but she herself was a Butch icon and was incredibly gender non-conforming didn't seem that all that interested in the company of men but she was such an incredibly effective propagandist that the Nazis let her stay around to do that well not the Nazis but the British fascists um you probably already know about her she was covered in a recent behind the bastards episode that you can just listen to I don't want to get into her life yeah so we know that like women have been on the front lines of furthering Fascism and white supremacy for a long time like um Carol Bryant who murdered EMT till uh the daughters of the Confederacy the wives of the KKK Ron all of these Clan picnics and like organize Clan meetings and organize that kind of stuff um Evangelical women organize a lot of the stuff in their churches that actively harms them so this is not new that women have been this feminine face of fascist ideology this is a very common thing it provides fascism with this soft Edge they have this belief ideology that they can say we like this isn't about being evil this is about protecting women protecting white women and white children but the tribe life movement really perfected and magnified this in the age of social media influencers and it's been hugely effective this is just the latest movement that this kind of feminine fascist ideology has co-opted in order to push Fascism and white supremacy onto women yeah all of this from like girl Define to Trad wives to Define femininity Divine femininity um it's part of what we call The Cult of Domesticity which is this sort of far reaching not a cult but it's like this ideology that really persists in most cultures where it forces women out of public life into the home into the domestic sphere prevents them from achieving anything outside of Domesticity women should bow to their husbands and have a servant's heart it's that kind of thing and we see it everywhere women are forced to care for the children have the children do all of the domestic unpaid labor labor which prevents them from achieving things things economically outside the home it keeps them trapped in the home trapped doing slave labor for women boor this is seen as the natural Order of Things by these cultures even though it is strictly enforced and if it's not strictly enforced with public shaming violence shunning Etc it doesn't exist it stops existing as soon as these shame and punishments for not achieving these things is taken away it's not natural it's strictly en but we are taught that it's natural and we see this from cultures like the flds where women are literally slaves uh men have a bunch of different wives and they have literally no agency they have nothing but we also see this in leftwing movements as well in a lot of anarchist movements the women do all the cooking and cleaning and do the dishes and are kind of kept from the positions that bring Valor like being on the front lines being like organizing leadership and no one really like strictly enforces this um outright but it is still enforced culturally these women are just pushed into that they're not listened to as much and they're just expected to do these things um they say there's this saying in the anarchist movement that um you can tell a good man by if he's willing to do the dishes and yeah that's kind of true because so many cultures not just these farri ones view women as inherently domestic as just oh they're just naturally good at that stuff they're just naturally better at that stuff so that's what they should do and they're pushed out of the things that bring them more economic value that bring them Valor the things that they might be better at you know not every woman is good at that stuff but they're pushed into doing it anyway because of this just pervasive belief that oh that's what they should be doing that's what they're naturally good at which is just inherently false um women aren't any better at washing the dishes and meanwhile men are funneled into these traditionally masculine roles of leadership um being the bread winner which really aren't great for them either and it creates this gender divide this gender fundamentalism that really harms everyone and not only are women kept from doing those roles that are like tradition masculine but the roles that they usually fall into feeding the troops basic sanitation taking care of the children are devalued even though they're really essential to any movement like the Black Panthers were largely successful not because of their militant action which was important but because they fed people and housed people and clothed people their free breakfast program really made made the Black Panthers it helped them you know recruit people it helped their communities it was a large part of their success and it was mostly women that created that but what people tend to value is the militant action the things that are traditionally masculine this is all part of The Cult of Domesticity one of the hardest parts of dissecting and like picking apart these far-right ideologies and movements is like most effective liars and grifters some of what they're saying is true they pick up on real social problems like economic problems uh Sky High child care costs the food and air is poison now War inequality whatever and they're like wouldn't you be happier with this we have a solution we see that you're struggling with this thing we have a solution it's so simple you just have to submit to a man you just have to be a fascist and then all your problems will go away that's a really good sales pitch and it's so hard because they just boil down all of these complicated economic problems and they say oh our beliefs are the solution to that yeah the stuff we believe that'll solve all of these complicated economic problems just doe a fascism they build on all of these genuine complaints with their own ideology their own ideology is framed as the solution to this problems but their future Utopia is a fascist ethnostate where all of the non-whites are dead or enslaved and women are slaves so um not a great solution is it no but these women get funneled down this Pipeline and slowly indoctrinated until they're like oh yeah maybe that is a good idea because they've just been so put into this media environment of fascists but their prescription of traditional gender roles and early marriages don't really help anyone um most people aren't happy with this Arrangement men and women mostly women aren't happy with this arrangement of marrying young and having a bunch of children we see that a lot of the people who get sucked into this lifestyle are miserable they're abused and they end up leaving or dying from child birth or the abuse and I mean there was a big case of Lauren Southern who was this very popular far-right influencer who decided to finally practice what she preached she was a really good propagandist so she had leeway to not do that like Pearl uh just pearly things has this leeway of being a good propagandist so she doesn't have to practice what she preaches but when these women are finally pushed into it pushed into living what they preach they end up miserable and that's what happened to Lauren Southern she finally was pressured into doing what she said was the right thing marrying a traditional man and being a traditional wife and he abused her the story is horrible she was like locked out of the house she had a baby like immediately he kept locking her out of the house he kept abusing her and finally he was like if you go visit your family we're done and she was left with nothing and now she's saying that this is happening to a ton of these other tradwives and there's this Underground Railroad for these tradwives who have to get out because it's such an abusive situation and no one wants to say I told you so because that's horrible what happened to her but that is kind of the norm for these women who get pushed into practicing what they preach or these young girls who get sucked into this ideology that's the norm for them because this kind of ideology this traditional nuclear family structure this tradwife structure just is inherently abusive by Nature I would say Bethany from girl def find is the best case scenario for these women she is the absolute best case scenario for these propagandist women or these tradwife influencers or whatever who get pushed into marrying and being tradwives her husband Dave I believe is his name is deconstructing he no longer identifies as a right-wing Evangelical Christian and he seems to be very respectful of her and they seem to have a very respectful marriage that is the best case scenario for these women what happened to Lauren Southern is the norm and this is I mean this is a serious problem a lot of these women who get into this very young they don't even know how to initiate a divorce they don't have access to the family's money they can't hire a lawyer a lot of times these women just have to take their stuff and flee they can't even afford a divorce because they have no access to money they have nothing so they just have to quietly leave in the night with nothing and start their lives over with no work experience in this economy and yet this thing is still really popular although we are seeing it kind of go down a bit like when I looked at Tik Tok for tradwife Content um most of what I saw was Tyler Bender making fun of drad wives which is love to see that um but this thing isn't going away anytime soon we just we don't know what the next movement they're going to appropriate is it'll be something and like leftists we aren't as good at this propaganda stuff um it'll be hard and you'll have to struggle but maybe the world will be better for it is not as easy of a sell as you'll be happy and get to wear a pretty dress and everything will be perfect perfect forever it's not an easy cell our movements aren't aesthetic and beautiful but maybe what we need to do is kind of what they're doing form a vision of our own utopian future what we look forward to I know it's just Star Trek I know it's just Star Trek but like maybe we need to really push this like this is the magical future you could have if only you Embrace leftism Anarchy whatever your ideology is that's another thing we can't even agree on what we want but maybe we need need to do that push for this vision of the future that we can achieve through what we believe in but yeah that's a lot harder to sell leftism isn't aesthetic uh it struggles it's fighting for the rights of the marginalized and that doesn't look pretty it's not aesthetic is it and yet we have to do it it's the right thing to do but that's a lot harder to sell just saying this is what's right it's harder to sell than this utopian future you get to wear a pretty dress everything is easy and pretty it's harder it's harder to sell because it's real and it's complicated real life is complicated what they're selling is this imaginary fantasy where everything is simple and easy their prescription is easy just kill everyone who doesn't agree with us and enslave all the women and then everyone will be happy easy simple and life is just not simple fundamentalism doesn't reflect fundamentalism doesn't reflect the real world at all fundamentalism and the real world have nothing in common Cottage course started out fairly as fairly leftwing anti-c capitalist but it was quickly co-opted and that's how these things go so maybe we need to do our own propaganda yeah these people all kinds of crazy conspiracies but the one conspiracy we know happened was this conspiracy to suck women into the far right and force them into these traditional Lifestyles because they were super open about what they were doing putting all of these pretty blonde mouthpieces to convince women to give up their rights they were very open about the fact that they were doing that and just because the fantasy is pretty white girls in beautiful dresses doesn't make it not Nazi propaganda it is this I want white babies rhetoric and this pretty white girls and dresses aesthetic is not innocuous it hearkens back to um white replacement Theory the theory that the Browns are outbreeding white people and doing a slowburn genocide against them and soon there will be no white people because they'll have all been genocided that's like a common far-right conspiracy theory and this whole like pretty women with seven blonde babies thing is meant to inv invoke that for people who believe that kind of thing it's meant to invoke this thought of like oh we're being replaced that's what we have to do we have to make more white babies and they know that they know that they're doing Nazi [ __ ] in 2018 one of these far-right influencers Isa Stewart uh started this trend of the uh white baby challenge and it was supposed to be satire but um that's Nazi [ __ ] and she knows exactly what she's doing she knows exactly what she's doing and the culture rapidly shifted as a result of all of this content they packaged up this fascist right-wing ideology in this pretty pink bow and people bought it and the culture rapidly shifted to the right like it happened so fast they knew exactly what they were doing and they did a very effective propaganda campaign and like the strategy isn't new hire a pretty blonde woman to say you're Far Right Stuff Fox News started doing that in the 90s like it's not new literally the Nazis did it it's a good tactic you put a pretty mouthpiece behind whatever you want to say you make these pretty white girls say oh fascism is good o woo protect me Daddy and put this soft Edge on it like o feminine fascism let do a fascism that's that's what I see when I see this content it's this weaponization of white Womanhood which is not new it's been used forever to Target minority groups because the white women need protecting so we can't let these Syrian refugees in we can't let black people in we can't give black men the vote because we have to protect these innocent white women that's always been just a tactic for them it's not reality we see that with transphobia now too protect me from the trans women no I need to be protected no you don't you're [ __ ] doing Nazi [ __ ] you're a Nazi propagandist that's what you're doing and you know you're doing that you know exactly what you're doing so when I hear this thing of like women need to be protected from this group because whatever it's like those aren't the groups that are harming women it's like the hegemonic White Society that's doing that the people in power are harming women these small minority groups don't have the power to do that stuff so you know that's not true you know you're just lying on the internet or in real life or whatever you know that you're just selling this lie to hurt people to do a fascism you know what you're doing these propagandist women know exactly what they're doing when they say this stuff and so when I see these women like JK Rowling for example being like Oh we have to protect women from the evil transes oh we have to protect women from these refugees the brown refugees they're going to rape the white women I'm like that's Nazi [ __ ] and you know that you're being a [ __ ] Nazi you know exactly what you're saying you know exactly the things you're referencing and the things that you're invoking in this farri group you're saying it with just enough you know just enough plausible deniability to be like Oh I'm not a Nazi but you are you are so we have to be wary of anything that looks too polished and perfect any social aesthetic movements that look polished and perfect and sell this fantasy lifestyle because usually they get co-opted and used to sell Nazi [ __ ] so like should leftists get PR training should we um find all of the prettiest leftists and start having them make propaganda too I think some people are already trying that I maybe should we set up pipelines should we set up um organizations to help these tradwives rebuild their lives after they escape the abuse yes we should definitely be doing that Lauren Southern mentioned that in her interview and I know that she is one of these abysmal horrible propagandists but she was right about that we should be setting up something to help these women get out of this tradwife lifestyle the like I don't know tradwife to I don't know girl boss pipeline or something helping these women who have no work experience because they weren't allowed to work no money because they didn't have access to the money we should probably be doing something about that because I feel like this whole generation was tricked into this lifestyle I know not all of them but a lot of girls have been tricked into this lifestyle falling down this rabbit hole on Tik Tok so yeah maybe we should look into doing something about that helping these women escape the TRD tradwife lifestyle um I feel like a lot of girls are going to need that in the next few years and one thing we can do is sort of look at this utopian fantasy and talk about the political things that we would need to achieve that do you want your food to be safe regulation do you want big Pharma to be safe regulation and more money to science and research a lifestyle free from tyranny yeah you need Liberation for that Mutual Liberation feminism even yeah uh the food is all tainted the air is Tainted Etc yeah you need regulation you need to take the profit motive out of things like food and medicine and then we'll all have access to Safe clean food and medicine do you want the beautiful untainted countryside yeah you're going to want to stop coal mining and fracking and build passenger trains so that the entire Countryside isn't just 47 Lane highways these are policy proposals to give you what you want to give you this utopian lifestyle that you say you want without having to do a fascism yeah I don't know what do you guys think what do you all think should how do we combat this what do we do in the face of this constant co-option of these leftist Andor aesthetic movements by these far-right alt-right ghouls who take this aesthetic conspire to use it to get people into it and then use it to essentially traffic women which is what the tradwife lifestyle is these women are being trafficked um I mean what do you think we should do yeah please let me know because that's all I've got I think that we finally started to see the consequences of these things and we still we don't have Solutions yet and we need to work on that real fast because yeah as this thing with Lauren Southern just happened like it's really obvious that that was going to happen that was always going to happen we were going to need to get these women who were tricked into this by this woman question conspiracy out because they were always going to be trafficked like this they were always going to be harmed by this movement it was a trick and now we have to deal with that and we have to come up with something our own utopian future and sell that to counteract this kind of thing and we have to bewy of these movements and do something and I don't know what that thing is so let me know what you think uh yeah please let me know what you think that's all I have thank you for watching [Music]
