COTTAGE STYLE CLEAN + DECORATE | ENGLISH COTTAGE DECOR | FARMHOUSE DECORATING IDEAS

[Music] hey friends welcome back to my channel or welcome if you are new today i'm going to be decorating with some of my new thrift items a lot of which i showed you in my last thrift haul and there are just a few new things that i found since then that i will be decorating with as well [Music] and today's video is in collaboration with my talented and sweet friend monica if you aren't already my description box down below and i know you will absolutely love her as much as i do i'm starting by washing some of my new thrifted finds that i'll be decorating with i'm slowly starting to transition my decor style from pretty traditional farmhouse to a more cottagey feel so i've been collecting these china pieces to display in my house and will also be incorporating a lot of just more feminine and victorian patterns and kind of just more of that aesthetic i've heard that called cottage core so i guess you could say i'm going for a cottage core aesthetic these days and of course i will be incorporating all of the fresh flowers in my various pictures that i've been collecting as well [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] if you follow along on instagram then you may have seen that my five-year-old and i started a cut flower garden this year our seeds just started poking through the soil this week and we are so excited and hopeful that we can grow them into big beautiful wildflowers that we can bring inside but until then my go-to place for fresh flower arrangements is trader joe's i just love all of their variety especially lately i've been really able to find a lot of flowers that really remind me of spring [Music] i know you're hurt i can't see it in your eyes but you need to let your mind [Music] but i know you have a lot to give i know that it's getting colder waves are crashing in when the streams are getting strong just hold on to me [Music] [Music] things still get better [Music] just [Music] now i'm going in and wiping down and redecorating my cabinet and peg rail in our open pantry i always get questions from people wondering if i still love taking off my pantry doors and having an open pantry concept and the answer is yes i love how it opened up our kitchen and anything that i don't want to be seen like the kids snacks and things like that i just keep behind the sliding doors of this cabinet so no regrets taking off the doors even though my husband did insist that we keep them in the garage just in case [Music] oh [Music] i will always [Music] i will always [Music] [Music] i almost didn't pick up this picture because it had some glue around the top but i am so glad that i went back for it i just added a little spray paint to cover up the blue area and you can't even tell that it was ever there and i love the size of this thing it really fits my large island really well [Music] another new item i found recently is this general store basket if you've been here for a while then you've probably heard me mention my love for all decor things how shape so i just could not pass this guy up i think i picked this up for around five dollars and i love that there's storage in there as well so i thought this would look cute above my fridge [Music] since i've been collecting a lot of these vintage inspired teacups for my cottage core vibe i had an idea to add some inside almost like a little scoop for my ikea canisters and i think it just gave them a really cozy cottage core vibe [Music] one of the things that i noticed with cottage core aesthetics is displaying a lot of items around your home most of which are useful but even items that have sentimental value and i usually am pretty ocd about keeping my counters very minimal and clutter free but i do want to go in and try to add in more intentional pieces and just kind of add to the cottage feel that i'm going for and i think i achieved that without it looking too crowded and cluttered and i actually really love how this looks as i'm staying close to the mirror a lock of gold a secret smile [Music] she was a believer sometimes [Music] if you guys watched my last thrift haul i mentioned that i wanted to do a tea themed three tiered tray um but i still need to collect some more china and little tea cups and stuff so until i can expand my collection i wanted to show you what i have so far this first one you may recognize i found it at an antique shop it's a peppermint herbal vintage t10 so cute i just love the house shape and all the muted colors i thought it was so pretty and then behind it you'll notice i have some more they gave me like the same vintage vibe but they are not vintage i will leave them linked down below but i just thought the tins were so adorable i love the blue here with the gold and that pretty picture and there's actually tea in all of these so they are decor and they're also usable so look at those pretty flowers this is just so victorian and beautiful this one i absolutely loved all the florals on it and it's kind of like a bluish white color but if you've never had golden milk it's really good to add to espresso so there's tea in that one as well and then of course i love this little house or actually it's quite a bit larger than this house and it's kind of like a purpley white color so i love that those are going on my three tiered tray i have some pieces of china here this little i think it's a creamer technically but it reminds me of like a little pitcher i thought that would be cute to go on my tray as well and then i'm gonna look for some more teacups doilies things like that so stay tuned this will be in a future video i cannot wait to see if i can do a tea inspired tear tray it sounds like a fun challenge and we'll definitely just tie in all of my other cottage core things that i have going on okay so this is the part of the video that i am the most excited for you guys to see i'm totally switching up the shelves above my coffee bar with items i thrifted to specifically achieve the cottage core look i found a lot of cream and saucer dishes that i'll be decorating with as well as teacups and plates with just beautiful floral designs and of course a new beautiful teapot which i absolutely love and fits in with this new aesthetic perfectly i'm planning on having my husband drill some hooks into this wood plank so i can hang some teacups here but i figured i would at least just test out the look today using some command [Music] hooks [Music] shoulder a lock of gold a secret smile i will tell you when you get older i place thy hand upon your heart every beat is taking me over and i will hold you in my arms pretend we'll stay here forever when i style these shelves i always start with my big anchor pieces first and after i feel like those look balanced it's so much easier to then go in and fill in any gaps with smaller pieces and kind of go from there there's a legacy between us [Music] changes every [Music] looking [Music] another thing that i'm already just loving about this space is that everything here is either thrifted or a vintage find and to me that just makes them so special and seeing them all laid out together in this space just brings me so much joy without stories that aren't mine what i did to achieve you gave me air i thought i had to i'm not true it's not pretty the truth hurts and you stayed on the ground while i was [Music] [Music] that you [Music] i don't know what you're thinking but i know [Music] i showed these house canisters in my last haul video and originally i thought i wanted to put them on my fridge but ultimately after i get them all cleaned up i decided that they would look really cute on top of my hutch and kind of make all of my green accents that i have going on on the shelves in here [Music] pop [Music] if you remember from my haul this little barbecue jar used to be a really dark brown color so i just went in with some white spray paint and i adore how it turned out i love the wood a little top i think it's just such a unique look i'm using more command strips behind my stove to hang some of my vintage copper pots i don't use these to cook with but i just love the cottage feel that hanging them above my stove brings to my space and i think we decided that ultimately we're going to drill a rod into the cabinets for a more permanent solution to hang these but again why
