hi everyone welcome to my channel my name is Nepali joke and today I'm here honestly talking to you about the cost of living in New York so we know as a matter of fact in New York bahatis are the expensive jacket is known to be one of the most expensive places to stay and as a student being a student of NYU this was one of my biggest concerns because and when I was coming coming nobody could clearly tell me bifurcation a constitutions it was one of my biggest concerns so beginning with one of the most uh one of the biggest expense job directly is your rent you need that comfortable stay because I know as a matter of fact that when I was uh when in the initial years it was really important for me to have a comfort Comfort uh surrounding an environment there are two places that you can do options that you can have while staying one is an on-campus housing and second is your off-campus housing again in New York at NYU it is going to cost you around 10 738 dollars per semester and this is going to give you a single unit a private place to yourself This is expensive for sure in New York again that is an expensive option but he will take that um you will have places such as Style town or East Village all of these places around New York around NYU that you can take and it is going to cost you around fifteen hundred dollars and average um which is going to give you a small space to yourself but there are people who are already staying there my uh friends from NYU so you can definitely take that um [Music] [Music] despite having Google Maps to myself so that was a little scary for me but yeah there are people who are staying so East to their own um in my opinion it is one of the best places to stay it is Newport which is barely eight minutes away from New York and trust me you will love this place once you are here uh you're happy you have been you have everything accessible at your beck and call uh grocery stores and the prices are very comparable to New York uh it is again an average of fifteen hundred dollars uh depending upon the kind of building that you want to stay in yeah there are the high-end buildings your cost can go up go from 1500 to 2 000 for a private room but if you are looking for a more economical uh place to stay than there are buildings like Parkside Eastern Parkway the rent can be around 900 to 14 to 1500 and average um this is this is going to be our range uh if you have the smallest room to yourself around 900 to 950 dollars can cost you around 1300 and then and a master bedroom can cost you around fourteen hundred dollars number one uh you can share your master bedroom or any bedroom as a matter of fact because you can share it and that is going to split your um your rent by half so that is one way and that is how usually students tend to take the master bedroom which is around fourteen hundred dollars and therefore like your rent is going to be around 700 750 to 750 um the other way to stay is to take a flex above the unique concept of Lexica people used to post the availability for Flex relay Flex I mean I didn't understand at all uh because it is absolutely unheard of but here it is a thing that people tend to do to save up on the rent um say like a cotton or a closet or a fake wall uh that you can get from Amazon and they tend to divide the living room to one half of the room becomes your uh your private space your own room and the other half becomes the living room so that is what I did initially when I came here well I did not I have told this in the previous video okay I had not decided on the place to stay when I was coming here so I had lesser options and that was one of the places that I was taking now if you want to take a flex in a high-end building that is going to cost around 1150 dollars eleven fifty to twelve hundred dollars economical buildings around 700 to 800 okay so that is number one your number two is going to be travel a system called called path path is a train that travels that connects Newport that connects New Jersey to uh New York and it is going to cost you around 2.75 for a single trip uh the other option other than having a single trip is to have a monthly subscription to yourself and that is going to be unlimited trips to uh New York and that is going to cost you around 110 dollars but because I don't commute every day so it is I usually tend to spend like 50 dollars a month on that because uh that is for your travel Oregon New York so there is another subway system called MTH again that is going to cost you 2.75 and that turns within New York okay that is your second the number three is going to be your food your necessity it is necessary for you to eat to be able to work average cost is going to be around 300 depending upon lifestyle okay and you're not going to eat outside too much that's going to cost you around 300 but if you if you do end up splurging and you want to eat outside often that can go up from go up to like 600 to 700 again that is if you uh cut down a little bit on uh your your um but yeah I mean 700 to 700 is going to be like an average if you eat maybe three times a week two times a week something like that that is your food uh next is going to be your utilities so utilities are divided into three uh it is going to be a water your electricity and your Wi-Fi so Wi-Fi is pretty cheap it is going to cost you around 40 50 and since we have three people staying again that's split by three um if it is your water it is again going to cost you around 40 to 50 dollars and that is again split by three for us uh in terms of electricity it is seasonal so it is going to cost around 100 for you but if you're if you're looking at Summers it can cost like 80 for the entire place that is going to be your utility cost overall and in case of like washing and uh you're washing clothes and everything if it is you're in unit uh like within the home you're in unit uh laundry then it's going to be uh cheap for sure but keep us in building laundry the places uh the cost is separate and uh every place has a different cost of laundry um so that is your utility the next is going to be your entertainment um starting with I used to cut down on a lot of things that I used to do back in India and um because it is expensive around here everything is expensive around here but eventually you do tend to spend a little bit on your entertainment as well it is necessary otherwise we have got this subscription amazing thing that I did not know for the longest time but it is so good that I mean I wish this was in India uh yes I am a huge movie buff though um this is there is this uh AMC AMC is a chain of theaters where multiplexers were um you get to see three movies every week for free AMC subscription 25 May you can watch three movies a week for free uh that is what we do for entertainment New York has a ton of things to do from Broadway shows to uh like literally like if you go to Times Square you'll see so much outside and it's for free of course but Broadway shows like uh I have not seen it yet but uh it costs around 770 to 200 dollars and it is expensive I have not seen it yet but I have heard amazing reviews of it and and they've got like all popular uh huge Hollywood stars that perform sometimes and that is really that is one of the things that I really want to see uh in New York and that is the cost of entertainment so all in all if you see like everything included it is going to cost you around 1500 to 2 000 depending upon the way that you live that is going to be your monthly expense you can't save on that you can't do anything about it it is an expensive place to stay no doubt about it and um yeah if you want to live economically you will have to save up on a little cut down on your uh wants your desires for a while till you're a student and once you start earning you can go all out and live your life but as a student people to tend to like uh save up and that's how your that's how uh your monthly expense is going to be in this video at the end of this uh video let me tell you there is going to be this Excel sheet that I have in the description down below uh go up download it has the parameter along with the average cost according to me mere experience a minute that is that that is what I have put and you can tweak it according to your own needs um just apologize but you can take it as a barometer for yourself so subscribe to the channel like this video and I am going to see you in the next video
