Copperopolis thanks first responders who saved the town from Aero Fire

In Calaveras County. The Arrow fire is now 52% contained. It started on Monday as well. The fire has burned more than 5000 acres. Meanwhile, most people are back home tonight in coop poos as containment grows on the Arrow fire. Yeah, first responders are actually now starting to leave. But here's the deal. The community wanted to say thank you for saving their town. ABC Ten's Gabriel Prus has the story. It's just very scary to see how close we all came to absolute chaos and devastation as the flames of the Arrow fire raced down Copper Mountain threatening her town. When I walked out the door. I could just see the flames and the smoke. Chelsea Hassan and her co workers at the old corner saloon were here feet away from the front lines. It was very frantic while hundreds of residents were forced out by evacuation orders. Monday, hundreds of firefighters and police officers flooded in needing somewhere to eat. A few of our ladies in the kitchen came in and we had some extra people, some extra volunteers that weren't actually working that came in to start cooking. No power was no problem. For the saloon workers who used everything they could to help feed the first responders, including this generator and more with the help from the community. We had part of our community bringing their RV up so we could wash our dishes and their RV. We had another gentleman bring his generator. So we had an AC for the cooks back there that are sweating and cooking. So it wasn't just one person. It was a very big joint effort for everybody. Thank you guys for everything. Britney Snyder and her manager at Copper's Java House were part of the effort and they actually went to the front lines with the firefighters and they each took pastries, hot dogs, ice cream, um Coffees a bit of relief. I got you guys get out of here. I got you. I got it. No. Are you serious? Like my house didn't burn down. You guys gave me a hell of a show. I got it and a show of community support. You're welcome. Makes me very proud to be a part of this community to make sure the more than 1001st responders understand how Calaveras County feels. We're forever grateful.
