good morning First Baptist Church of Glen Arden had be Resurrection Sunday my name is India Leonard I'm a part of the staff here at First Baptist we are so grateful you have tuned in with us today this Resurrection Sunday is obviously very different for many reasons but the good thing is you had the opportunity to invite someone you would not otherwise invite to church simply share the link to have those you know to join in on the worship experience and forgiving for those that still want to so and give their tithes and offerings simply click the link together we are so grateful for those who continue to serve through the giving of their ties and offer it makes the difference now before we head over to hear a word from pastor and first lady let's just have a quick word father we thank you for the privilege to serve you we thank you for giving up your life on the cross that we might have a chance at eternal life with you so lord I pray for every heart that may be watching and tuning in from all over the globe that you would speak to them in a way that only you could and father we are trusting that so many would be encouraged so many would be strengthened father God and so many will be drawn to new relationship in you we love you Lord it's in Jesus name we pray amen [Music] praise the Lord welcome distance pastor Jenkins here with my beautiful bride of almost 40 years First Lady Trina Jenkins hey and we want to wish everybody a happy Resurrection Day this is a special day it's it's a unique day it's unlike any other day in in history in many ways because most of the world is quarantined because of the kovat virus but even what's more powerful and special about it is we're still has to church finding unique ways to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ it is a powerful day that we're giving God praise and thanksgiving and we we've we're doing something a little unique this year since we are all quarantined then we are actually gather around the theme a theme of going from the garden to the grave and we're out we're outside in the garden my wife loves gardening I do I enjoy gardening the older I get the more I like other people doing the garden and for me so I can enjoy the beauty of it but there's beauty in the garden a lot of work goes into the garden but it's beautiful when everything blooms and grows in its own time and happy happy Resurrection Sunday and pastor as you said where this is a different time a different day we've never seen before but we are being creative in how we celebrate our corporate gatherings and even celebrating today Resurrection Sunday and we're glad that you've chosen to join us out of all of the many many places that you could tune into we're grateful that you tuned in and we want to just walk through the path of what happened to Jesus the greatest day in history what separates Jesus from everyone else is he did something and no one else did he conquered death and got up out of the grave but it started in the garden yeah and we need to talk about the garden because the reality is all of us have garden moments in our life we all have a where we have to come to the garden and and Jesus came to the garden it is to start if at all it's it's this the season of time a period of his existence where he had to make some decisions he had to decide whether or not he could in human form carry out the assignment that God had given to him God had given the Lord Jesus the assignment to die on the cross for our sins and it is at the garden that he wrestled with that decision it is at the garden that he prayed and talked to God and asked if the cup could pass away from him Luke 22 lays out the garden if you get an opportunity I just would encourage you during this season during today actually if you get honor the Lord by just going to Luke 22 and reading that whole chapter and you see near the latter ends of the chapter where it talks about the garden and many of you are gonna be facing garden like moments in your life you're gonna be facing periods in moments where you have to make a tough decision of what you're going to do are you gonna obey the will of God for your life or are you going to lean to your own understanding and your own direction and what you want to do is that what you're going to do what are some types of garden experiences that that we would experience it you know so many so many carton decisions so many things that you have to go to God and wrestle with from your job your career whether you're gonna be married whether you or even your marriage or your singleness or or where you gonna live these are all significant decisions that play a major role in your future and your destiny business decisions life decisions am I gonna do what the scriptures say do matter of fact and it doesn't have to be a big decision some garden moments are over small this is small small things right like whether you're gonna stay home during this time or not or whether you gonna keep going now whether you go where mass that decision yeah these are all major choices and decisions they really are and even though they may have seemed to be minor and minut they can have an impact on your future and my destiny and their their major deals and and it is doing those garden moments that you can feel pressed yeah that you can feel the pressure of life and the pressure of circumstances and and the stress of what if I make the wrong decision or whatever it's stressful and challenging yeah it's difficult moments very difficult yeah especially like can you talk just a little bit more about the pressure to make the right decision like sometimes you're so busy trying to do the right thing that you end up doing the wrong thing because you want to do the right thing to please God how do you get out of that that tussle back and forth when you're making decisions that it's okay you know if you make a mistake make a decision though how do you how do you wrestle through that the thing I try to get people to understand is that no matter what you're facing in life God has some principle some truth in his Scripture that he has spoken to about it and I would encourage you to find a scripture a principle and make a decision based on that principle based on that truth if you lean to that God will honor you because you're looking at the word so we make the mistake when we lean to our own understanding or when we lean to what we feel or what we want to do as opposed to some biblical truth that God has called us to lean to and so I would I would encourage people in those pressing moments and when you're facing those challenges and and here's what's gonna happen in life you're gonna have what God wants you to do place in front of you and what the enemy wants you to do there's always two choices Jesus had two choices does he go to the cross and die my God is a sign for him to do and he knows that that decision is going to require some suffering right it's gonna require some pain it's gonna require being rejected and it's gonna require so many things and doesn't like that and that's why Jesus wrestled with it when he was in the garden the Bible said he prays so intensely he prays so rough that sweat like drops of blood poured off his his head he was under intense pressure and challenge and so you got that choice but you also have the easy way out easy there easy choice T the choice that's that's not God the choice that appeals to your flesh the choice that's the opposite of what God wants you to do and when you make the right choice when you lean to the voice of God and his principles and do it his way his spirit his power his might will help you well empower you will anoint you to be able to carry out the assignment Jesus made it through the garden and matter of fact he made it through the crucifixion but we want to talk about that in just a moment [Music] there's nothing worth more that could ever come close nothing can comfort your our [Music] your present an tasty dancing of the Swedish summer where my heart becomes free and my shame is a [Music] you're crazy [Music] holy spirit you are come to these fillet sensing the your glory God is what our lawful to be overcome by your presence you're pretty [Music] no return [Music] presents present there's nothing worth more that could ever come close nothing can come back you're our new home your present Oh dear lord dear Lord of the Swedish Sun then my heart becomes free and my shame is it's your breath [Music] this place if you goddess what to be goodbye [Music] Oh [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] let's go there speak of your presence [Music] experience the glory [Music] [Music] the glow [Music] your presence [Music] Oh you're [Music] praise the Lord wow what a what a powerful requests of God I love that presence of the Holy Spirit filling us and guiding us and empowering us in I hope that she'll pray I hope you're you're willing to ask God in his presence and the Spirit of God to just rule and govern your life and to just order your steps and direct your path that's my prayer that's what I want I want the Spirit of God to just order my life and to feel me and guide me and as a matter of fact you're gonna need the Spirit of God you're gonna need his presence and his power for this next part of whatever your journey might be you're gonna need the spirit and the anointing of God to orchestrate and govern and guide you and empower you for what you're gonna go through Jesus needed the Spirit of God to empower him yeah cuz he went through so much here here he got arrested in the garden he got arrested and that arrest led from that to him being put on trial him being beaten embarrassed stripped naked humiliated and crucified and nobody chooses that and it was difficult for Christ to make that decision but he made it and he did it he took the punishment he matter of fact the scripture says God punished him put on him our sin he who knew no sin became sin for us he took that choice and it is in this framework of of the cross that Jesus got punished for us he took the place I remember some years ago when I was a kid my that was a lot of years ago a whole lot of years ago my brother was getting a whipping a whoopin from my my father and every swing of my father's arm I felt that pain and because of my love for my brother I jumped in and grabbed my father's arm and asked him to stop me and my father stopped and grabbed my arm and started beating me I say all the time I never did that again that was my last time doing that my first and last time doing that but here's what that's exactly what Jesus did for us but the difference is before the Father could swing a belt or a switch of punishment Jesus jumped in and took all of the whipping and took all of the punishment for whatever you've done in life Jesus took it it doesn't matter how ugly your sin is how nasty how bad how low it is or how often or how frequently or how recently it doesn't matter Jesus took the punishment for all of our sin matter of fact when he died on the cross all of your sins were future sin and he died and took the punishment for all of our sin and it was an ugly scene on Calvary has he hung there this innocent man who had never done anything wrong who was God in human form who came and walked in human flesh took the punishment for you and I and I know how you feel about it but I'm eternally grateful for that I I am thankful that Jesus died on the cross and took the punishment that I should have gotten that you should have gotten he took it it doesn't matter I know the devil's telling you God could not possibly have died for your sins but that's a lot from hell the devil doesn't want you to know that and understand that but we're trying to get you to see I'm trying to get you to see this essence today is to try to get you to understand it doesn't matter how ugly how bad how frequently how recently your sin is how low it is it doesn't matter Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sin he took the punishment for everything you have ever done in your life for every thought every feeling every emotion every act whatever you did the beauty of the love this weekend that we're celebrating is that all of our sins have washed away they pierced him in his side they nailed nails in his hands and in his feet they put a crown of thorns on his head they beat him with lashes they they humiliated him and he took it all he didn't have to at any moment Jesus could have called legions of angels down and he could have wiped them all out and he could have easily delivered himself but he chose not to he decided to die and I'm glad that he did that he made that choice and died on the cross for our sins and for your sins it's the glory of what the Lord Jesus has done and it is for that I give him praise it is for that that I give him thanks and I give him glory he was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquity and the chastisement of our peace the punishment that brings us peace was laid upon him and it is because of that glorious decision that he made an act that he obeyed he obeyed God and in your life they're going to be season times are you going to be rejected by people something some of the same things not like my people talked about people embarrassed by people humiliated by people but it's okay it doesn't matter because after every crucifixion you can be confident that after every crucifixion there is a resurrection I come to The Garden alone [Music] while I do if she lon and the voice I hear falling all my oh [Music] god is called all ZZZ [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Oh [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] you are our protector Lord you are [Music] [Music] [Music] you're the [Music] praise the Lord Wow praise God I give God the praise give him the glory because we go from death to life we go from the grave to the garden from the crucifixion to the resurrection that's the great news that's the great news of what Resurrection Sunday is about it's not about the Easter Bunny or Easter eggs we don't even we don't do any of that at our church we don't we don't do an Easter egg hunt we don't do any of that we celebrate the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ that's the glory that's the power is that Jesus conquered death he did when nobody else has done no religious leader no so-called Messiah Mohammed didn't do it Buddha didn't do it Confucius didn't do it Jesus did when nobody else has ever done he conquered death amen that's the glory of the resurrection he came up out of the grave with all power in his hands and the glory of that resurrection is this the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is the same power that will give you life it's available today it's available now it's available at this moment to give you life it doesn't matter how dead you might feel it doesn't matter how low you might be he can give you life and that's what we give God the praise and glory for yeah and I think we all go through seasons in our life where we have to die to what we want to what we think to how we feel we have to die to that but it's okay because of God will bring new life new thoughts new feelings he will resurrect us have you ever had a death of a vision something that you really wanted to come to pass and then it looks like it died how do you how do you deal with that yeah of course it happens anybody who has any any vision in their life will have that happen to them but here's the thing what might look like a death will come back and God will give it power in life here's what I've discovered that God will allow the earthly fleshly efforts to die yeah so that when he resurrects it you know that nobody else could have done that but God and that's what I've seen God do time and time and time again he's he'll let your efforts die he'll let your plans die but when you yield to him and let him be in charge he brings it back to life and you will have no question about who it who let this happen allowed it to happen empowered it to happen made it happen only God can make it happen he's a God that can and will give you life out of death that's what we're celebrating today I'm celebrating cuz he bought life into my dead situation I had death in my life and I had the worst kind of death I had the kind of death where I was religious going to church singing in the choir on the Usher board was the issue I had the kind of death that I thought I'd held I had life because I was involved in church and attending church but the reality is if I had died in that condition I would have went to hell but all I give God the praise that one day he opened my heart and my eyes to understand that I wasn't I didn't have life and I didn't realize I didn't have life till I met life and when I met Jesus he who said he's the way the truth and the life when I met him he gave me eternal life he'll give you eternal life he'll make your life worth living he will give you the ability and the power to see God communicate with you that's what life is about communicating and seeing God open doors and answer your prayers and work miracles on your behalf that's what the existence of life with Christ means seeing him working on your behalf hallelujah and that's some great news so many occasions and situations in our life we have seen God do the supernatural and I know some people don't believe that the supernatural is in existence but I'm here to tell you today but God we serve is still doing the supernatural and whatever you need in your life he's more than capable of making it happen you need money for your business he can make it happen you need healing for your marriage he can make it happen you need forgiveness of your sins he can make it happen you need your children to come up out of devastating moments and situations he can make it happen that's the power of the resurrection the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is the same power that God has made available to you and I today to be able to help us to have empowering everlasting life it's a matter of fact we serve a god that's able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you could ask or think according to the power that works in us he's more than capable and able and by the way willing he's more than willing to make that happen in your life and we have so many stories in our life and so many examples of times and moments and periods when God has done the supernatural in our life and and we just want to share one of them talk about God being able to raise someone from death back to life I think we know a little something about that [Music] so he talked about my daddy I'm gonna talk about my mama I know God is really real from Trina Jenkins I remember when my sister now this is God she had very very bad asthma and in the middle of one night she stopped breathing I remember one night early in the morning we were all fast asleep and for some reason I woke to hear a voice a faint voice saying so I jumped up and I heard the voice again and I knew that was Natalie's voice so I got up and I ran to the room and sure enough there was Natalie sitting up in her bed and gasping for air and I remember yelling sand Natalie you have to breathe and she shook her head as if to say mommy I'm trying and with that very breath that she was trying to inhale she passed out I remember calling out to my husband to get in there as soon as he can and he came in to see his daughter on the bed and she had started turning blue he looked at her tried to open her mouth her mouth was was clenched he couldn't get her mouth open and he said Trina she's gone and I looked at him and I couldn't believe that my daughter Natalie was dead immediately I dialed 9-1-1 and I said I have a daughter who's having an asthma attack she stopped breathing tell me what to do at 3 in the morning my mother wakes up for no reason at all I just want to get up in the middle of the night to check on my kids I don't know how often she did that she might have did it every night but she did it and she woke up in the middle of the night and went to my sister's room to find her now breathing my brother came over banged on my door Jimmy get up get up get up I get up I'm scared and I go over and I see my sister's lifeless body with the ambulance covering around or pushing her chest pounding my father was holding my little sister's head and I said where's mama where's mama and all they did was point to the closet [Applause] and when they pointed to the closet that door was closed and I got so terrified and I just said I just want to be with my mother can I see my little sister dead and I looked and I opened the door and I see my mother on her knees with her head to the heavens saying if you just save my baby right now you just break my baby back by that time the paramedics had arrived and came into the room and just took over started pounding on her little chest thing put a breathing tube to try to get her to start to breathe and I could tell that they were nervous they were fumbling around looking at each other her chest was so tight and when I saw the perplexed sitting looks on their face I knew I needed to go into my secret closet and I fell on my knees and I started to pray and to call out to God and I remember the Holy Ghost speak to me and the Holy Ghost said to me Trina do you remember the Shunammite woman and I said yes I preached about her and yes what does that have to do with Natalie Holy Spirit said to me Trina do you remember how God raised that woman's child from the dead do you remember her baby died I said yes I remember that did God raise her son up from the dead yes I have preached that I remember that well if God did it for the Shunammite what makes you think that he won't do that for you and that he won't raise Natalie from the dead when we got to a hospital a doctor said this was Natalie's asthma attack was the worst asthma attack that the hospital had seen in 20 years my name is Natalie Jenkins I'm 23 years old a graduate of Drexel University where I studied communications and legal studies and today I have my own communications company and because I don't really remember what happened one day when I was much younger I asked my mom you know when I heard them telling this story and talking about that night I said mom was I resurrected from the dead my mom said something like that all of us for the rest of that night couldn't sleep because we knew what my mother did she prayed so for the first time at the age of 14 years old I set up all night on my knees and I prayed my sisters and my brothers and we prayed because I couldn't fathom losing my little sister and when we woke up in the morning they couldn't get her to breathe the night before but when we woke up in the morning she walked right back in the house like a nutball widow breathing just fine [Music] thank God she was dead but God so when you top tell you and talk to the mother to the valley of the shadow of death fear [Music] [Music] you play you are laughs you bring light to the dark a little you restore every heart that is broken [Music] oh great is your [Music] so we praise Oh so we [Music] well [Music] you bring my to you hold you restored every heart that is for [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] please [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] so we [Music] [Music] Wow wasn't that powerful yes that's exciting well super great God he's able to bring the dead back to life just like he did with Jesus hallelujah I give him the praise hallelujah and we want you to know today I don't know what you're going through I don't know what your life's challenges might be but here's what I do know I do know that we serve a god that loves you cares about you and a God who knows exactly what you're going through and you know what he's waiting for you to turn your heart to him he's he's anxiously waiting he's been waiting for you to turn to him you tried everything else you've turned to everything else you've called on everything else except him and my assignment today is to offer Christ to you invite you to make a decision to follow the Lord Jesus Christ who died on the cross who who went through the ugliness of the garden and the pain and challenge of the garden was crucified dead and buried in the grave but he got up out of that grave and if the Bible says if you put your faith in what he did on the cross for your sins and believed that he was buried and rose from the dead just you're putting your faith in that and your willingness to entrust your life to him he will make you a brand new creation he'll change your life and I believe there's some people here right now today watching this broadcast right now that God is prepared and ready to work in your life I want to invite you to call that number right on the screen right now I want to invite you to hit the commit vanity and pride not carrying what you thought about me and I turned my I had turned my back against you God but now I'm turning my face toward you Oh God and I know that the God we serve is more than able and more than willing to change your life and forgive you of your sins and give you an existence with an eternal God make that call right now what an incredible message from pastor and firstly if
