the DMP awnings Nitro chaos season hello I'm Lee Kraft pit correspondent for chaos nation and this is really the dawning of a new error for Nitro burners no matter what the combination is as long as they're burning 80 percent and up of pop in the tank they can run in Nitro chaos and they can run even for a championship in 2023 with four races this season we caught up with some of the competitors on running for that Championship no I never thought I'd be here when I said I was going to retire I was you know I thought I'd be true to that statement and then all of a sudden Nitro came up with Chris and terrett so this is perfect for me for races they're all local so I'm excited for it and I'm just here to have fun but I also one of in that Championship get that cool trophy I also want to go for that 340 Club get the drama Nitro at the end of the year so we got a lot to fight for but I know the skunk Dragster and my team are gonna do it I can't think it gives us a reason to come to the track and and makes the whole team step up uh it gives us gives us the reason that I mean we come for fun it is fun but also now the challenge is there and it causes everybody to step up a little bit including me I got to be a better driver a good driver and and these guys are here to help us and the team and put Mad Max in a Winner's Circle so that's our goal this year is to run the series run Tough Run hard and uh and see if we can see if we can take home the money in the trophy sure here you go this is your call out winner here in this qualifying pass takes home the cash how about it right there 361 for Pete Dove 201 miles an hour winner left side Megan right there 369 better speed the low end grunt got her down there 215 on the speed 369 at 2 15 for Megan you're looking at the Bushwacker himself Jody Austin Jody's not in the car doing some recovery but man your ride is sitting provisional number one qualifier right now yeah that's perfect we couldn't be happier we uh love the call outs we have a blast with them and uh it's all for charity I donated 500 bucks and so did Megan and now the good part is is I can get to pick a charity to give it to and uh we're uh we're both going to donate 500 and yeah get as many people involved as we can to raise as much money as we can for a charity and uh I can tell you that that uh I'm gonna donate our money to uh kids with cancer that's uh that's what we're gonna do that's definitely a good thing and what he's talking about is his ride the Bushwacker with Pete Dove driving beat Megan Meyer in a call out and uh Mr Dove it's always got to feel good to beat uh well Megan Meyer and Old Man Randy over there yeah yeah it does so Jody and I discussed on the way back from the big end if we had the right size t-shirt and he said he did so we'll get with her tomorrow and see how that's going to work out I hope we can uh we can maybe put our own little quote on it for uh for a closet shirt maybe 10 or 15 years down the road sitting provisional number one qualifier did you expect that coming in to this event hopping in this bushwhacker I think we had a chance to see this car will go down to Gravel Road and uh I don't know if the if anybody else would be afraid to tune theirs up for the first round so no I think we had every every bit of a chance as anybody here thank you [Music] so Megan how about this for Megan Meyer three five zero three fifty at 228 miles an hour she goes to the top of the Heap by almost two tenths of a second the gunk Dragster and Miss Gunk herself Megan Meyer here at Nitro chaos Edgewater Sports Park and she is the number one qualifier laying down the boom with a 350. yeah you know as soon as I stepped on the pedal for that last qualify run I knew this was the car that I won the both World Championships with it was so smooth that fast at the same time so my crew guys my little sister as my crew chief they're doing a great job this weekend and we just got to keep it up we're not going to make any changes so hopefully it still runs really fast first round yeah dear old dad was here yesterday but he is back up in Indy currently and uh Sis got it done for you we did yeah we kicked the old man out and brought her in so um yeah you know it really helped having him here yesterday um you know just kind of getting you know getting the pace of things I'm trying to do things on our own we've also got a new truck and trailer here so we're not used to our usual deal but these guys know what to do they've been doing it for a long time with us so you know they're all experienced I trust them I know what to do for my job so um I mean and it showed so we got number one qualifier and hopefully we uh you know have that winner circle at the end of the day uh Megan uh that's not your shirt it's nice though you you are correct so I did lose the call out for the first qualify run against uh Jody and Pete and the Bushwacker so um you know the first run you always have those Jitters but the car went out there it started to spin I felt it back in wash out a little bit right out of the Eighth Mile so um you know we lost a little bit power out there but um we ran a 69 he ran a 61 and then second qualifier we stepped it up a little bit but only ran a 67 and so that's why we were really motivated today to you know really hop it up we knew this car had a lot more in it so we ran the 50s wish we would have ran that 50 though yesterday in that first qualify run but is what it is the money is going for a great cause and you know I'm happy to support one of his t-shirts and you got to go check him out because he's also wearing one of my t-shirts Megan Meyer is hoping to put the funk on the field in the gunk dragster foreign [Music] let's go outside foreign foreign foreign thank you foreign [Music] foreign he certainly has number one for a reason because he's the 2022 champion in Nostalgia Top Fuel that is Tyler Hilton Tyler you roll in and you've definitely showcased that you all are a winning team going to the semifinals your reward you get a two-time NHRA champion in Megan Meyer yeah it's going to be an interesting semi uh we got a little lucky there first round but you know wins a win so we ran pretty good in qualifying doing what we thought it was going to do so I'm excited how interesting how fascinating is it seeing Nitro chaos in person now that all these different combinations line up it works out and you're able to race against each other oh I mean this is our first time running one so yeah it's I mean it's all over the place we got front motor Heritage legal NHRA Top Fuel car we got a big show a fuel car we got Outlaw cars fuel Alters funny cars I mean it's just it's a great show we're with Rachel Meyer doing the tuning duties here this weekend for dear old sis at Nitro chaos hey you gotta pass for round one I was a little nervous it's our first round for Q3 she forgot to put the tune up in the car and so I don't know whenever my whenever I called my dad to talk to him I didn't know that at first so then we changed the numbers like a decent amount so then I was just nervous about it but yeah I ended up being okay we got down the track we ran a decent solid pass so no pass first round the reward you get to go up against Tyler Hilton who has a number one on the side of his machine from the NHRA Heritage series do you hop it up do you run a little softer what's the strategy crew chief I mean I want to hop it up a little more I know we can run in the 50s we did it this morning um the bowl just ran at 60 there and I think it's not low of the round I think but um so I I want to try and get the car in the 50s to feel a little better about the next round they're looking for more performance to get past Hilton semi-finals are coming up here at Edgewater [Music] all right foreign foreign [Music] foreign Levi Keenan and his Illinois Thunder funny car is going to the final round here at Edgewater and Levi Gary over there he certainly is not typically a b field car he's going to be able to run it out with no index can you make Illinois Thunder boom one more time and get a win light in the final um yeah we're gonna give it a shot it's uh he's gonna be hard for us to run with him but we'll give it a shot and see what happens that's all we can do we were discussing earlier in the weekend about possibly running for points are you leaning a little bit more after having such a good day in elimination so far we'll just have to see what Eddyville brings so yeah we'll see what happens at Eddyville Levi thinking already to Eddyville but yet he wants one more winlight here at Edgewater you're overlooking the Grand Prix front engine dragster of Gary Willard Jr and he's going into the final round of the B field now Gary you are not typically a b field car but you wound up there and in the final round there's no index you can run it flat out but is that the strategy to get by Illinois Thunder all right we'll just have to wait and see I mean I got a little something left in the tank and uh I haven't been to the finish line yet so we've been running good numbers of good early numbers so yeah if if uh if he's right there if Levi's right there with me I may leg it on through what the heck give a crowd a show absolutely we're about to find out who our winners are going anybody following us these chaos races we hit and miss them and uh it's been a long time coming so um super proud of everybody the guys my stepdad he you know this is the reason we're doing this so um I'm just pumped speechless Levi 397 on a whole shot awesome awesome yeah I took a bargain stabbed it in deep it's kind of waiting out that what I was waiting up there on the line and I thought you know I've never done it and I know he's faster and I'm gonna put it in deep and take a take a shot at it so that's what we did Levi Keenan in the Illinois Thunder your CP Carrillo B field winner here at Nitro chaos Edgewater awesome thanks the Great Expectations top fueler is going to a final round here at Nitro chaos Tyler your first ever appearance at Nitro chaos you get another a fueler in the bull are you able to take them by the horns and put them down man yeah we'll see what happens uh sometimes you got to be lucky sometimes it all comes to you so I don't know it's just great to be able to be going to a final round we'll race whoever's up there and just do our own thing y'all certainly do and you're used to winning and winning here in the hometown in essence would feel mighty fine yeah it's really cool we've we got a lot of history here at Edgewater family since since opening day you know so it's really neat to be able to come here and be so successful this weekend [Music] the bull a fueler is going to a final round here at Nitro chaos Todd Bruce making his chaos debut this event here at Edgewater now Todd you've got Tyler Hilton over there Hometown boy he's making his chaos debut he's got great expectations of winning this race can the bull give him the horns and Gore those expectations well that's sure what we're hoping for the performance that you all have had earlier looked a little rough but certainly today it has been fine where have y'all found it uh it's just a matter of Cliff backs getting a handle on what the car wanted with the track conditions that we have here all right Todd Bruce going in the final looking for a win Championship round coming up between Tyler Hilton and Todd Bruce well we went through qualifying Tyler Hilton qualified number five with a 373 but he had heavy competition taken out Dave Hill in the Mad Max funny car Megan Meyer in the semifinal or in the semifinals to get to the final for Todd Bruce James Gilliland and Pete Dove stood in his way but he muscled his way through [Music] underway Tyler Hilton a verse the front motor tracks over here on the right hand side left side double proof a fuel hemi-fied injected Nitro machine [Music] so will that championship trophy go all the way back to North Dakota or we'll stay right here in Cincinnati we will soon find out your afield final up now Bruce was the quicker of the two cars in the previous round [Music] they've had their struggles this weekend but I think they finally found the combination that works Cliff Bax goes out there to help get his driver lined up he finds free stage light motioning Todd Ford over here on the right hand side Jake Sanders the crew team or the Hiltons [Music] seconds away from your champion the Deep stage for Hilton Hilton rolls through too quick he turns on the red light when light for Todd Bruce Bruce three 75 at 167 miles an hour a little bit off the throttle down there at the top the bull charged the field today Todd Bruce gets the win in McKinney Corp a field Nitro chaos competition here at Edgewater Miss Bruce I doubt Minnie had you on the list to win but you proved them all wrong today well that's happened a few times with us and all the credit goals the cliff backs and the crew that we have here today my wife doing the other side of the motor and Jared doing the clutch and Cliff bax's awesome tuning ability maybe a little bit the driver but you know they're a dime a dozen you can find drivers anywhere well speaking of driving from what I understand from the tower oh 30 light on that run man that's not too bad unfortunately usually at most NHRA races I get upset if it's over a 30. so I'm okay with it it got the job done congratulations on your first chaos you are now a Nitro chaos winner
