hey everybody I'm here today with a video tutorial on connecting instruments to a mixer in this video tutorial I'll be going over the basic steps for properly connecting instruments just like these to a mixer just like this let's get right into the video it's actually fairly simple essentially you have two things that you need to know there is an output and an input okay output obviously means that the sound is going out from that thing and input means that the sound is going in to that thing so essentially you want to get the sound going out from the instrument going in to the mixer okay so we're gonna take one example we have this microphone right over here now front of this microphone over here okay this is actually the natural output of the microphone so what we have here is a line that is connected to the microphone and that is the output of it so essentially it is going out the sound is going from the microphone out into this cord now this cord actually goes up and connects right over here so it's actually going in this is an input on the mixer the microphone output sound is going in to this input okay so essentially the sound is traveling from the microphone through the output cord traveling into the input of the mixer now microphone inputs generally speaking are these they're a little bit different okay so they're very unique to microphones and that's what they look like right over here so essentially this is what we have right over here you can see we have the three little prongs right here and it goes in like that so that's how you connect an instrument like a microphone to a mixer okay then and I'll go over a different instrument with a different type of chord like this in just a moment but then from the mixer from the mixer you need to send that sound somewhere so that microphone sound is going into the mixer and then you need to look for the output okay so you can see main out the main output from the mixer now the mixer is gonna send that through this wire to these sneakers over here that wires connected to these speakers over here okay so now the sound is traveling from the microphone into the mixer and then the mixer sending the sound out to the speakers now in addition to a microphone you can actually send other types of instruments and other sounds into the mixer for instance if you have a keyboard like this you can go from the output of the keyboard okay so this chord right here the other side of this cord is actually connected to the output of the keyboard and then the keyboard will output the sound through this chord to the mixer and you could connect this to an input of the mixer now this microphone is already taking up line two over here of the mixer okay so I would go let's say with line one you could take this chord right here into line one of the mixer or I could do into line three okay or into line five let's say okay just like that so now essentially the microphone and the keyboard would be outputting to the mixer and then that would output to the speakers but wait there's more if you have an input on the mixer like this right here which are these RCA cables over here I like to call them RCA cables okay you're gonna have a red and a white the red is obviously gonna stand for the right and the white is gonna stand for the left portion of the sound if you are going for a mono sound you can just plug in the white to the left but if you're going for stereo you're gonna plug in the white to the left and the red to the white and then on a cord like this on the other end let's get to the other end on the other end of that cord is something like this which is just a regular headphone jack as you can see but then let's say you have a newer iPhone you can connect this adapter and now we would have three sounds going into the mixer we would have the microphone okay we would have the keyboard and we would have our iPhone or any type of any type of phone let's get that off there any type of phone or any type of unit that is transmitting sound through this once again these iPhone or the Android phone or the mp3 player or whatever it is that's transmitting that sound is gonna send it in to here right over here it's gonna transfer like that and that is essentially a simple tutorial for connecting instruments to a mixer very simple very easy the instruments go into the mixer and then the mixer sends that sound out to a speaker or a set of speakers and that's it if you liked this video please be sure to give it a thumbs up let me know what you think down below as a comment and of course be sure to subscribe for more great videos just like this one and that's all I have for you today thanks for watching
