Completely Renovating an Abandoned Mansion!!!

so we bought an abandoned mansion so we renovated an abandoned mansion it's actually pretty great [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] thank you thank you [Music] foreign [Music] we did the swastika room nothing that's not what we're gonna call it we I probably shouldn't have said that [Music] foreign [Music] I have to tell you we have huge news today we have a new dumpster it's fresh it's empty [Music] oh hey [Music] thank you that rain has been rotting the wood and the only way to get the wood out is to take the rock off take the wood off put new wood back up so all the studs well 90 98 of the studs are good but about 75 of the sheathing is either completely rotten or questionable we decided to go big and take all the stone off the entire house and redo all the sheathing on the entire house [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] thank you oh we can't make it through the front door anymore thoughts mayor there's a lot of uh weird emotions going through me right now rotten rotten rotten like everything is trashed and I mean like this is perfect example right here where you can see that is OSB on the outside totally rotten but then that is like a header board right there totally rotten and gone which we would have never seen that we wouldn't have taken all the rock off so it was definitely the right call like 100 percent the right call but it just totally hurts to see the house look like this board's probably not going to be reusable mayor um I don't know we'll probably leave it this is the look of fear what if we're in here and then just this whole house collapsed on us that is a worry that that's a concern yes foreign [Music] foreign [Music] I am no structural engineer but I just feel like that shouldn't do that [Music] foreign [Music] the living room it got a little damp yep just a little bit I mean I think this is fine that might be a problem right there this is good this is good okay well these little things we still don't know for sure if we're going to move into this house or not but if we do I want to remember this because theoretically when we're ready and done with it and it's all finished it's going to be beautiful and amazing and waterproof and foreign [Music] Meredith and I first knocked out boards that were boarding up these windows we took a picture standing in that space right there we've come a long way since that picture we are there stucco there stucco there [Music] I gotta go up there okay we did it this is actually bringing back flashbacks for when we first bought this house they had built the scaffolding on top of this roof and then they were doing the stucco and it was the cement was all up but they hadn't finished it they hadn't done the final layer and so there was stuck on the house it wasn't finished they saw the scaffolding up and then they abandoned the project for 15 years there's always been like a fear in the pit of my stomach that I'm going to get to that point that they did and then something will happen that'll abandon it like maybe this house is cursed Maybe This Land Is cursed and that's why they abandoned it 15 years ago and I'm gonna get to that point again where we've invested so much time and energy into this and then something's gonna happen where I say I can't finish it I can't finish it [Music] this is going to take forever [Music] as you can see it's snowing here hello Meredith hi uh this is an interesting to surprised yeah look at this very weird check out the view oh wait you can't see anything [Music] foreign [Music] excavator and a big loader showed up and just made short work of that mountain feeling so fast so fast [Music] this is crazy seeing this on the house a year ago or more we tore off all the rock when we realized everything was rotten underneath or enough was rotten underneath it it warranted pulling all the exterior siding down all the stucco all the rock pulling it all down so that we could fix all the rotten stuff that's great it's just crazy to see it like coming together now this is wild all the fine detail Plumbing stuff done done well almost all almost all done [Music] [Music] oh Matt hey it's me [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] we are exactly exactly to the phase that this house was at in 2005 when they abandoned it just crazy that is so long ago that is a long time ago so my question Meredith is this house cursed like what if this is what if we think we're gonna make this into our house and move into it but like something in is gonna stop us from that that creeps me out don't say that are you ready for this go away be utterly astounded I would say one billion times different than the last time you saw the inside of this house [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] foreign foreign [Music] I'm just kidding we rented it hey can I have a backhoe I could use it for a lot of stuff if anyone has a backhoe in Central Texas that they're looking to sell hit me up hit me up in secrets [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] though you know look we have a toilet there's a toilet in the house yes also all of the can lights are in marble countertops are in this is going to be tiled is this going to be tiled all the way to the ceiling yeah it totally is yeah you can see how they cut that out breakfast area has a big old light in it then we have cabinets and shelves Annie's room does have a light and it is I actually like this light a lot it's perfect for a girl's room look at that thing that's our pool right there foreign [Music] [Music] thank you foreign [Music] we're freaking moving in there's stuff in our fridge there are sheets on our beds Mary and I've been working super hard putting stuff together and building beds and moving couches and breaking backs [Music] foreign [Music] it's weird to call this home like it feels weird it also feels really good we've been looking at this house for two and a half years as have you and it's just been a wreck the whole time and it's kind of still a wreck but it's it's a much better wreck than before [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] this is crazy look at that this is wild we're gonna have a yard soon nice look at that sitting right here where we filmed the first clip of us talking about this house and I don't even know why we sat on it I think it was just the only thing sittable and I was like we need to sit down for this one a contractor actually moved it somewhere one time no we took it you tried to take it I came home I thought he just moved it and you were like where is it yeah he did he hit it one time because he knew I love this table but he actually put it he before he knew I loved it he put on his trailer and he was just taking it home just he thought it was junk and I was like hey that's my table hey get it get away from them he's like that's not sure what are you talking I was like no I love this table so then he would just hide it from me to mess with me um but yeah I'm gonna keep this table for the rest of my life what was your favorite part uh the whole I don't know because the first part was so fun but the most stressful the second half we knew it was gonna work we knew we could do it the first half we did not know if we could do it we didn't know if we would have to just sell it and like say never mind it's too big but it was those memories were the most fun for me but they were the most stressful watching all the rock come off it's like that was a gut-wrenching feeling this is bad so bad because we thought we wouldn't have to do that and we found that we had to do that and that was where I was like oh no we done messed up yeah so here we are three and a half years later um thanks to you guys for watching this video I mean that's the only reason this this house build worked was because people were just as invested as we were in it they were that excited about it and that passionate about seeing this you know giant pile of crap turned into something cool and you stuck with us for way longer than we thought it would take I was looking at about a year I figured one year we got this no Matt not gonna work I didn't think it would be three though anyway I just
