hello and welcome to video revealed I'm Colin Smith let's take a look at Adobe Premiere rush [Music] [Applause] alright premier rush which I'll just call rush from now on is a new video application of the most amazing part is it syncs to every other device you're you have rush on so currently it's on Mac Windows and iOS it's also coming to Android that means that when you make an edit on one that file is on another computer how does this happen well a little history here Adobe created something called team projects that are for enterprise and team projects allow people to share projects between Premiere Pro users and if you're using this right now you know how powerful it is you can have multiple people working on the same projects not at the same time but they can work well they can work on the same projects but it gets consolidated later that that's another thing but bottom line is the projects are synced on the cloud if you come from an enterprise they're they're synced in your enterprise organization where you have a whole bunch of big big iron servers in the back room running well you and I don't have these giant servers so where do we sync this we sync it at Adobe Adobe will actually sync not just your projects but they will sync your media up to a hundred gigabytes and you can pay for more there are several different versions that you can get started there's a starter pack where you can export three times only and you can try it out for free you can also buy rush on its own you can buy it with Premiere Pro so now when you buy just the single app Premiere Pro you get rush with it for free and of course if you're a Creative Cloud member you do have rush right now and you can install it and start working I'm gonna be showing you on Windows here and I'm going to be showing the importing and updating and exporting here I'm gonna have a completely separate one on shooting because there are features in the mobile device because I can't shoot with my desktop but on the mobile device there are special features for shooting so let go in and have a look so currently I have two projects here and you'll see that the icons look different this one is not synced and this one is synced that's what that little cloud means the mobile version will have a little mobile device with a cloud or not and if you click on the little dots you can choose to delete it from the device turn sync on or rename it and on this one I can delete everywhere you can see that this is different because this is sync delete everywhere means it deletes everywhere meaning that it deletes on the Adobe servers and you can't change it this there's no trash that you can go in if you delete this it's gone let's create a new project and when we create a new project we're prompted to import our media and you'll notice I can bring in from Creative Cloud Dropbox Google Drive onedrive and anywhere else on my computer and it's looking for a name and I'll call this trip to the Philippines and you'll notice down the bottom I can tell it to sync with Creative Cloud right away and copy the media so you save a copy of selected media to this device so see the preferences for location so if we go to our preferences this is where it's going to be saved that means that it will save the stuff from the cloud so if I go to a different computer and log into my account and open this it's going to start bringing these files down so just keep that in mind these files could be quite large and it might take a little while before it's synced on that second project while we're in preferences I want you to notice here that it we have a pre-rendered sequences for playback Adobe understands that a lot of ruch users might not have the most powerful systems out there and this is the number one thing that you'll hear in the forums is people say it's taken forever or it's lower so it's like just because you're using rush doesn't mean it's going to make your video or your computer faster your video clips especially they're giant video clips it's not going to make them faster Rush is not faster than Premiere Pro I'll say them it ain't it's way easier to use but it's not faster I'll just click ok the first thing you have to do is you have to select media you can't create a project without first selecting media so I'm gonna go to the sample media here so when you install it you've got this media to install and as you're picking this media you'll notice something very interesting and that's numbering the media so as I click on this media you'll see the numbers show up and this is the order that I've placed them if you click again it's going to remove that number so I can reorder the number that they're being imported of course I can change this in the timeline if I want I'll bring in that soundtrack to you bring in your images video sound now the create button is available and you'll notice down at the bottom we get a timeline showing us how this will be imported and I'll click create and you'll see this turn into a timeline so there we go we have a very simple interface with the program monitor and a place to scrub down at the bottom you can hit the play button [Music] [Music] now this is a very powerful computer but remember that setting to pre render the files it's working hard in the background in pre rendering those files so I found that the very first time you open something up it might be slow to get everything set and all the files to be to be saved and if you'll notice that my CPU is working very hard I'm not even playing the video once rush prepares these files they're gonna play much much easier this is really important especially for very very underpowered laptops now I can trim a clip just like you can trim a clip in Premiere Pro and down here in the timeline it's very easy to see what a timeline looks like now if you open this button control tracks you'll see something very familiar to Premiere Pro users where you can turn on and off audio you can lock tracks and turn on and off tracks and the same with audio you'll also see a very small audio waveform underneath this clip if you click on this button expand audio it expands the audio on that if I click up here and expand the audio it's going to expand the audio for each one of these clips and you get 4 video tracks in 3 audio tracks and that might not seem like a lot but the 4 video tracks are the video and audio together so you get 4 extra audio tracks this is completely different from Premiere Pro the audio for the clips that came with the clips stays with the clip it doesn't show up down at the bottom so you can add 3 extra audio tracks down at the bottom so turning this on and off does depend on what you have elected here so you can open that up of course you can split a clip so if I move over to this clip here make sure this clip is selected and click split clip this clip is split this timeline will automatically reposition itself so if I want that clip in the middle of this all I have to do is move it over and that clip moves over to there that one stays there this one goes in the middle you can't turn that off it's it's almost like a an automatic ripple delete rearrange and it kind of thing but what you can do is the extra video tracks do not snap like that so if I take this clip here and drag it out and put it on another track you'll see the rest of the clips move over this can be positioned anywhere I want so it's an easy way to do things like picture-in-picture so if we come over here double click on this clip you get handles and you can resize this and position this where you want so now I've added a picture-in-picture to this [Music] there are no keyframes so don't go looking to keyframe this picture in picture to zoom into the top right there are no key friends all right let's keep going when you are editing your video you have the option of going fullscreen this is the same as premiere pros tilled screen button you can loop playback and this little 3 dot menu is very important for instance the orientation Adobe created rush to not be biased to horizontal or landscape video you want to shoot landscape great portrait great square for Instagram great so you can choose portrait and it's going to give you a portrait video it's not going to resize the video though so if you are exporting out to vertical video it's best to change that and then add and edit your your Clips accordingly of course you can move these after the fact if I want I could resize that clip and I'll show you square video cuts that off a little bit but again you can orient that accordingly the preview quality is also very important high medium and low if you got a really slow computer you better put that on low the output won't always be high but working with the clips will be low this is not proxy mode it's just like at choosing the 1/4 1/16 that that's setting in Premiere Pro I'm gonna leave mine on high the trash can over here can delete that clip if we want and you can duplicate that clip so if I click on here it duplicates it and puts it above you can see that it's on another track I'm just gonna delete that with the trash can now double clicking on any of these clips opens up the transform command and that's the same kind of command you would get in Premiere Pro or you can change the position you can change the rotation there are no keyframes you can maintain the proportion you can squeeze something wider or narrow don't do that and below that there's actually a crop setting in here so you could use this for a video on the top so if I select that video and reset that I could be cropping that bottom one and positioning that wherever I want so it could be slightly different and scale that so now it's a square aspect ratio and then you can change the overall opacity and then there's an edge feather the edge feather does not work with the crop so that it's edge feathering on the original video itself over there not on the crop that can be good or bad okay let's delete that clip there are other refinement controls on the right like titles so all of the same titles that you'll see in Premiere Pro you'll see in here but none of the After Effects motion graphics templates are compatible in fact many of the things that Premiere Pro has for titles are not compatible there's very limited set on all the effects can't be used if you watch my tutorial on the free 50 motion graphics templates all of those were optimized for rush and you can use them and I have them turned on in here so you can see all of my templates so let's drag one in here for a transition and let's put this over top of this clip the same plus and minus keys work for zooming in zooming out so now I've got a transition between these two clips but what you might notice something very interesting and that's this little orange line that orange line is telling you that what I just added for an overlay title is connected to that video you can move it anywhere you want but the cool thing is it's a transition that I'm using or a title I'll show you in a second wherever that clip goes that transitions going to move with it so let's zoom back out again there's that little line let me just maybe make this a little bit smaller I'll drag this over to here those clips will all move down and now the transition moves with it if I want I can move the transition to a completely different area and you'll see it's now attached to that clip I think this is a really good idea because there's a good chance you've tweaked that place things where you want and you want to move the clip and the transition I wish Premiere Pro had a way of doing this let's add a few more of these titles maybe this party popper here so as they're getting on the boat the party popper pops and then down here let's add a title my two-tone if you want to edit these titles double clicking on the title will bring up the Edit menu and you can see depending on the title what is showing here so for instance you could change the color of the shape and you could change the text so if I double click on this and paste in the text that I had now we've got our title and you can see there's a little orange line showing him there in El Nino [Music] and remember I showed you that we could expand the audio you can also use J cuts and L cut so look at this I'm moving this so that as he's talking about the the Bluewater routines in Google and YouTube zoom that a little bit more it cuts to that next clip that's an L cut Philippines in Google or in YouTube you're going to see a bunch of videos and pictures [Music] so your templates are here you can go to Adobe stock and you can see which ones are optimized for rush import them in there's free ones there's ones you can buy how about color well there's the luma tree color panel in here so we can go crazy with this and change these colors and if you go to the Edit menu you'll see all of the settings that you can edit so we can change the exposure contrast highlights we can desaturate this everyone make it black and white the advanced film the Advanced section in here with faded film to give this an old look and the vignettes are here and when you come up with something you like you can create and save a preset dark vignette click OK now when we go back over to our presets you'll see the presets that you use so you can add those anywhere in the project transitions there's only a few but you can simply drag them so there's a cross dissolve drag between those two clips and there's a cross dissolve and you can edit that cross dissolve edit that duration of that and if we zoom in you'll see the same kind of control that premiere has Premiere Pro has where I can drag that out here and change the cross dissolve or change the duration or type a number in if I want now I showed you the the transform the audio section is pretty powerful if you'll notice you'll see that there's a person talking and that little icon has identified this as a voice and this as music and you could change this to others so you can change that too it's not really music it's other the music is music and you can see that down there let's trim that down so you can change the overall clip volume so if I click on here and change the clip volume you'll see the waveform change too you can leave it on auto volume so it will automatically detect that you can have it automatically balanced the sound reduce background noise and echo these are the same noise reduction and D reverb that Premiere Pro has you can tell it to enhance speech and pick male or female you can also change the channels now I want to show you that this channels will turn on and off depending on whether you have a clip with audio or not so this one has audio so I could turn one of these off if I wanted to and if I click on the music you'll notice Auto duck comes up and I can turn that on and tell it how much to reduce by so if we open this up you'll see the ducking down and then it comes back up so if we play this the music does now and if that's not enough you can reduce by less or more and it will change accordingly and you could turn that off completely and if you want you could just control that sound here change the clip volume of that music yourself there are no keyframes so you're not about to automate that you either let rush a take advantage of its powerful features to auto duck or you turn the whole thing up or down so if we go back over to the top left hand side you can add more media here so if I click I can add a title this way and when I choose add media it's going to bring up the same Media Browser so that we can go through all of our stuff here find all the clips to bring it in you can also do a voiceover now so when I click voiceover you'll see a button show up here I'm gonna click this and I'm going to start recording my voice in a voiceover for this little tutorial click stop and you'll notice it saves it here watch this I'll go over to here and I'll click record and it starts recording here you notice that alright it gave me a countdown of 3 seconds before I recorded but now it's recording directly here I didn't have to set in and out points if you're used to doing this in Premiere Pro you know that you have to set an end point because if you don't and you click the voice over it goes all the way back to the beginning rush assumes you want to start doing your voice over right there it backs up 3 seconds and gives you a countdown but at least it's smart enough to know this this is another thing I wish Premiere Pro was smart enough to do okay so of course we could add more media if we want there's very limited menu choices in here viewing is you know of the stuff we already saw so if you want to go to titles this way you can you can use optimized clips and change the preview quality but let's just click on the share button here and you'll notice several different share options Adobe is going to continue to add to this you can turn all of these on so it will export and upload to each one of these and let's go through each one the first one is a simple local share and Premiere Pro is going to make the best quality just by default there are no other presets in here you can make changes in here to things like frame rate audio channels and the quality this is the folder where it's going to export and the end the size you can click on here and choose a different location if you want the YouTube one will allow you to sign in write to your account and upload and again you get to choose this the format again you can leave it on automatic and it's going to do the best quality the same with Facebook you sign in to your account Instagram requires you to ex sport this out so you can't go to from the desktop you can't go right to Instagram you have to export this out put it on your mobile device and then export it out Behance can go directly to your accounting you'll notice down at the bottom when you are going out you go to destinations it renders the video gives you a preview and then you get to publish that out and you can play back your video here before you export that out now the last thing I want to show you so let's go back over to our projects and you can see there is trip to Philippines and it's saved I want to show you that I'm going to close this up let's load Premiere Pro and in the premiere pro open dialog you'll see a choice to open premiere rush project there's the one I just made I'll click on that one it opens up in Premiere Pro all the same transitions the same cuts the same edits the same title and the same elfcon that I had done in in rush is all here are you ready to go the same effects that were used you can see my effects band badges are showing up in here with different effects and the same kind of color that I'm showing so if we go to our effects controls turn that on and off this is a one-way direction I can't go back from Premiere Pro back to rush so it's just a great way to to take your edit and move it a step further it's a great way to share stuff if you are working with someone who's a brand new editor and they've never touched Premiere Pro well you can start them on rush and then you can take their project and move forward if you need a something that runs on mobile so that you're away from your desk you can start editing mobile and then take it from here there is no save as in rush those team projects are being saved to the cloud if you want to save as another version you actually have to open it up in Premiere Pro there is no way to duplicate a project currently anyway in rush or save as and all of your undos are gone once you close the project you can undo a bunch of times when it's open but that's one you know to think about but again I think rush has tremendous uses they're on a very aggressive schedule for updates adobe is putting an enormous effort in rush because video everywhere is exploding it doesn't matter if you come from broadcast video or a YouTube content creator or your if I you're a dentist or you're in real estate video is everywhere and people need to learn how to edit video and something like Premiere Pro can be a bit intimidating but rush pretty easy to use a lot of really smart features for brand new users I think rush is an absolute winner this is a 1.0 it's got a lot of room to grow but I think it's really smart so in a future version I'll show you shooting with mobile device because that has a bunch of great features in it too if you're new to video review I found this informative take a moment and subscribe you want to support us some more like our great supporters over with PayPal you can do that through PayPal there's a link in the description of one on the front of the page you can donate one-time or monthly till next time I'm call it Smith and it's my job to get to show you some of the new stuff the exciting stuff that adobe is do [Music] you
