Complete Guide: Installing Optifine for Minecraft 1.20 on Mac

what's up guys I'm Andrew and today I'm going to be showing you how to install OptiFine for Minecraft 1.20 on Mac let's get started okay so the first thing that we need to do is go ahead and open up any browser window and just search for Java download just like that and go to this one by Oracle right here or just go ahead and click that first link in the description make sure this Mac OS tab is selected here and the jdk 20. and now we have a quick decision to make if you have a Mac with the either M1 or M2 Chip doesn't matter Max Pro Ultra whatever you're going to want to get the arm DMG installer but if you have a Mac with an Intel chip you want to get this x64 DMG installer a super quick way to check this is to go ahead and click this little Apple icon right here and click about this Mac a little window will pop up and next to chip you can see whichever chip is installed on your computer so since I have a Mac with the M1 chip I'm going to download this arm DMG installer by clicking this link right here once it's done downloading go ahead and click the downloads icon and double click on this DMG we'll open up a little window double click on the package and let me drag this over here click continue install and just go ahead and type in the password that you used to log into your computer and once you've done that go ahead and hit install software and once it says install succeeded you can go and hit close and move to trash all right so now what we need to do is actually go and open up a new tab because we're going to be installing our OptiFine file and to do that we just need to head over to optifine.net or just go ahead and click that second link in the description and once you're here head over to downloads under Minecraft 1.20 click preview versions and then in the latest release click mirror once you're at this page go ahead and click download and then in your downloads go ahead and drag that file to your desktop hit clear and now you can close your browser so now that we have our OptiFine file downloaded what we need to do is go ahead and right click on it go to open with and select Java launcher go ahead and click open and you should see an OptiFine installer window pop-up we just need to go ahead and click install and then it should say opt to find a successfully install Okay so the last thing that we need to do is go ahead and open up finder go to this Go tab up here and then hold down alt or option on your keyboard and as you can see when I do that this Library tab pops up go ahead and click that and then go ahead and find your application support folder it should be all the way at the top and then go ahead and locate your Minecraft folder which is right here and then you want to find your mods folder and put your OptiFine file in there but if you don't have one all you need to do is go ahead and right click anywhere in here click new folder and name it to mods but only make sure if you do this if you're sure you don't have a mods folder and then once you have your mods folder just go ahead and drag to optimine file into here click move now you're good to go all right now that you've installed OptiFine to actually play with it we need to do is go and open up your Minecraft launcher and you should find a new installation called OptiFine with the version you downloaded if it's not here head over to the installations tab make sure that the modded box is selected and you should find it right there and once your OptiFine installation is selected you can go ahead and hit play check this box and then hit play again and that's it it's that simple to install OptiFine for Minecraft version 1.20 I really hope you guys enjoy it and I'll see in the next video bye guys
