[Music] all right folks welcome back as you've probably seen by the thumbnail of the video we're in a different color combine today this oh david what is the day it's wednesday the 25th of august rubber farm two uh cutting week this is the last day of cutting at farm two i'll get finished here today and we've got this new holland combine on demo for the afternoon it's a cx 8.70 so there is a bigger model above this one the cx-8.90 but i think the only difference is horsepower so and we're not using much horsepower at the moment uh well we're using 70 70 percent of our horsepower we've got a 25 foot header on the front of here it's a similar header to what we've got on the john deere where it's got the hydraulic adjustable table where you can extend out the table for cutting tool crops but uh i quite like the header it seems to be flowing really well very smooth the head is called a very feet header so the insides of this combine are very similar to our john deere one uh sick it's got six straw walkers which separate the the uh the grain out of the straw or shake the crane out of the straw and it seems to go along very nicely it's got a comfortable cab to sit in the air comes good um we've got a passenger seat here with a fridge underneath it we've got a bit of space around the back of the seat see the window into the grain tank you might have to open up the concave a little bit we're getting a few cracked grains but the voice just probably come down quite a lot this uh the variety this week is uh zayat okay kws we finished the graham i think that graham averaged about nine ton to the hectare and this sorry it's doing about 10 tonne so we're pretty pleased with that certainly got plenty of mirrors we're not sure mirrors we can see all angles the controls are all pretty user friendly i do quite like this joystick um they told me it is still a hydrostatic transmission but you can also well you basically use it a bit like a power shift where you knock the joystick back to slow down like that and it always goes back to center and then you knock it forward to speed up and it also has a cruise control as well you can set the crews and then you press the orange button and it will take us up to 4.2 k or whatever it is that we've got it running up and turn around we've just got one grain trailer on today because we're close to the yard steven's here he's got the drone somewhere he's find the drone so stephen's doing the video in the moisture on the grain is getting pretty low so we're smashing up the straw there we do have auto steer as well i think it's running trimble um i can't really compare the auto steer to what i've got on the john deere because on the john deere i'm using rtk so it's there's no comparison um yeah we've got all the controls around here to operate the machine header header on uh separator on on and off uh rotor speeds um concave clearance i think that's uh secondary concave clearance and then wind and sieves controls yeah it's all pretty good real real up and down header up and down we've got unloading spout out and in right so it's just flashed up saying we're three quarters full the green tank is actually a little bit slightly bigger on this than what we've got on the john deere so i'm going to unload i'll press that button and the unloaded spell comes out it's got a uh a shoot on the end of it hydraulically a hydraulic adjustable shoot which is quite good here comes jeremy so when i it does have a bit of an issue where the tractor has to drive on the straw but uh they said that there is an extension that you can get for the unloader so you'd have to drive on the straw see i've turned the unload on and it automatically angles down to where we want it and i can change the angle of that the chute on the end of the spout there if i speed up jeremy um if i try and change it that's it and then you can drive on the other side of the straw then [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] so if you're not in agriculture and you're wondering what the reason is that we've got this new holland combine out on the farm today basically we've got it on demo uh basically the map the um the dealer what sells the combine will bring out the combine to your farm and let you use it for a few hours and try it basically try before you buy so that's what we're doing we just got it for this afternoon just to have a playlist also on this screen we've got the lost monitors that's a gauge for losses on the straw walkers that's a gauge for losses on those sieves and that is for the returns it just gives you an idea of what losses you're getting basically just get out and have a look in the straw and then you can use it as a guide there's always something about red button doesn't that you want to push it and find out what it does so the guys that have brought this out today um they tell me that you can put a 30 foot header on it we've got a 30 foot header on our john there um i think it would be all right you would just it would just um affect the forward speed quite a lot i think the 30 foot header would probably be going along about well about 4k instead of 4.8 right so when i was looking through the comments last night i noticed that somebody from uh canada was asking why we go why in england and europe we go so slow with our combines so basically the thing that restricts our speed is the amount of crop going through the combine in uh in america and canada where they measure their grain quantities in bushels uh whereas we we measure ours in tons um i worked it out well i googled it there's around 36.7 bushels to a ton of wheat so if we're cutting if we're cutting 10 tonne well 4 ton wheat for the acre that is what was it that is 146 bushels of wheat to the acre and the difference is in canada they're cutting was it 30 bushel well at the moment it's like five bushel if you watch uh welcome farms or mike mitchell they're having a really terrible harvest on yields they're cutting so like two three four five bushels to the acre crops so and we're cutting 100 what was it 146 bushel to the acre we've got a lot more crop going through the combine which slows us down basically that's the reason why in america and canada they have the big headers the 40 50 foot headers because the crops are so thin and we have the 25 the 30 the 35 foot headers well and 40 because our crops are so thick so [Music] [Music] [Music] my uh [Music] so we're just about to finish this field of wheat and then we've only got one more field left then at farm too i do like the way this header feeds it just goes in there really smoothly just drops in it's definitely one of the things i do like about this machine is uh is the head of the way the header feeds it's got quite a good quality camera on the unloading spout as well you can see clearly in the trailer right on to the next field and then um yeah last for the week simon's already cultivated that field that was spring oaks uh soon to be well end of september early october that will go into winter wheat i think it would be quite good if you have one of these joysticks in the basement because that's hydrostatic they could probably do something like that oh we're gonna stick you to we gotta see if we can squeeze this gap in the yard that's stood in the way [Music] so it turns out we've got a full set of led lights on here so uh no problem seeing in the dark we haven't got much left out in the field now we're almost done um good job really because the moisture's starting to creep up the crop's getting tough i think it's gone quite too cold outside but we're chewing through it we're chewing through it so once we've finished here at farm two um the next we've got some wheat left to cut at jeremy's i think there's 20 hectares to cut jeremy's and then we're on to spring oaks again up at farm three we've got loads of them to cut we've got spring wheat cut we've still got a fair bit to do so yeah still plenty to get on with but um yeah i think that'll probably probably be the end of this video if the combine is still here in the morning i might do a bit of a walk round out in the paddock a bit of a stationary walk around but if not i will see you in the next video any uh comments or questions put them in the box below maybe suggest another brand of combine that we could try before we buy one or before the farm buys one and uh yeah thanks for watching i'll see you in the next one bye for now i almost forgot uh thank you to stephen have you heard this thing for making these noises apparently it's like space invaders shooting aliens and it starts bleeping away stephen made me laugh earlier he said ask if it comes in green oh crack me up that did all right there we go 10 39 p.m turn the unloading spout off we're done what have we done today let me pull bring that spell in we have done this afternoon because we didn't even start till the afternoon 21.91 hectares you
