[Music] this video is brought to you by olight flashlights and tactical lights but more on that later oh jazz hands [Music] so we're on the alpine loop it is much more crowded than i thought it would be lots of people out here enjoying this place it's very beautiful and right here there's a creek that goes into the ice and then out the other side over there it's pretty neat let's go down there and see if we can see all the way through there's the cinnamon of cinnamon past at least that's my theory hope doesn't like heights and she's not about to like this so we got there's a trail down there and we have to get to it can you show them the switchbacks every time i say i want to get it picked she says no don't get it fixed it's just going to crack again it is it's just going to crack again and i'm cheap so the alpine loop is just that a big loop between two towns in colorado silverton and lake city if you look at it on a road map the towns look fairly close together but if you were to drive this distance it takes three and a half hours to go up and around the mountain pass roads so most people do it off-road we didn't really plan this out much and we ended up doing it sort of backwards but we took the lower section this is where we camped and then we exited through lake city into orae the south part of the loop is cinnamon pass the northern part is engineer pass this is where we found the waterfall you'll see here shortly and then we exited poughkeepsie gulch rather by accident but it's the quickest way out into the town of ori the map you're looking at here is from an app i downloaded on my phone called all trails it was i believe 30 a year and it came in pretty handy just remember to download all your maps before you are out of service it does work however even when you don't have service through gps on your phone without this map we would have been really lost and it really did help out quite a bit now this trail was pretty easy actually we saw a couple cars as you can see on the trail and i think most of it could be done in a two wheel drive although i wouldn't recommend it but i definitely wouldn't take two wheel drive down poughkeepsie gulch although not hard it did require more ground clearance than the other two passes the entire loop is said to take about seven hours although we did it in a day and a half and camped overnight the elevation rises close to thirteen thousand feet on each section of the pass so be prepared for colder weather you can only do this in the summer months when the snow is cleared usually between july and october the entire loop is 65 miles and most of that is going to be spent exploring the beautiful mountains waterfalls old mines and abandoned towns what are you doing look at this oh that looks so good where's the ham oh there's the ham so i found a campsite on cinnamon as a cinnamon and i would show you around but as you can see it's raining a little bit it's not too bad right now though i was thinking we were gonna have a nice fire but it's beautiful out here the only problem is you can't drive your jeep back in here to the campsite there was one closer but it was right on the main road where you got people going back and forth back and forth so this one um you had to walk back in here which is um cool that it's isolated but you have to carry all your food and stuff in so we've got mountains on all sides here and then check this out come over here there's a nice little creek can you guys hear that [Music] so we're only about a quarter of the way in on the uh cinnamon trail but it was getting four o'clock and this whole trip we've been uh stopping at about nine o'clock and uh i figured this will be the first day that we get to set up camp in the daylight so that's good but then it rains on us but we're making the most out of it got us a little teepee set up over here so it's all good what are you laughing at [Music] so i don't know if there's bears around here i'm sure there are somewhere but there's no bear thing that i could see to hang your stuff but it's raining so we kind of had to move our food i was going to cook over there but it started raining so oh well we got our bear spray here yes we do you see any right in front of me this stove right here is pretty cool i got this for thirteen dollars one time and it takes a buck butane can [Music] here's the jeep that's where our camp is over there and i know some of you guys are going to call me out on it so i wanted to show you i don't know the bear rules but we are putting all of our food stuffs back in the car i'm going to put that in the cooler anything that smells goes back in the car except for us the bears might find us delightful so we're the only food staying in the tent hey guys check this out i just partnered with a company called olight to get you a free flashlight they're having a flash sale up until august 17th and up to 45 off if you're not familiar with olight they make lots of cool flashlights tactical lights this one is one that's pretty rare and i got this a while back for my pew pew if you know what i mean this is their new m2r pro limited edition gunmetal gray 1800s of lumens 300 meter beam distance it's got a rechargeable battery magnetic charging how cool is that it's got this sharp bevel in case you need to use that for self-defense all you need to do is click the link below and you're going to get one of these for free a random color even their free light has two different beams low beam and high beam how cool is that and then this is the neatest feature oh hidden charging anyway that is olight check them out in the description below follow that link and get yourself a free light and leave it like you found it it was wet it started raining in the evening and then just never stopped and then until the morning and we're pretty good with that tarp but there was some spots that leaked and a lot of things got wet and it was cold and a little bit miserable right yeah i had to pee 12 times and every time i had to get out of this stupid sleeping bag it's like a body suit it's not fun you chose that one i know i will never choose that one ever again we're continuing on the cinnamon loop trail it's a little bit different out here than i expected that's not really off-roading it's more like sightseeing i would say that and camping if you're into camping so we're just trying to make it to lake city check out the views from here on out look at this guys every once in a while you'll come across one of these clearings you see that so if you look closely you'll see all the trees up here just snapped right off at the bottoms so that tells me that there was an avalanche here and they're all over the place there's warning signs at the entrance that there's avalanches maybe they have people driving this in the winter some too but you can see they had to fix the road right here i can't imagine that's a lot of damage all these rocks and debris just came along with it too and then they when they open the road it looks like they pushed it all up right here and there's a lot of the trees and debris that got washed down in there and then you can see on the other side where it all piled up down at the bottom of the ravine that's insane look at this there's just landslides and avalanche slides everywhere you can see all those trees snapped off up there that's insane at the bottom a lot of the these ravines are just pieces of huge ice chunks and then they're covered with all the debris then if you look up to my left here this is just a big giant landslide looks like they have problems with over and over again wild country out here [Music] do [Music] oh look engineer pass all right we made it to lake city let's go check out what's going on here there's cafe lake city is a pretty cool little town but there's not a lot here so they got a cafe a general store a place to rent jeeps and a couple of grills and that's it so we're going to head back onto engineer pass back to where we came and see what we can get into trouble there you got anything to say i hope that about covers it wow look at that i tried to build a dam at one point and apparently it didn't survive i can't imagine that any damn down here would look at that little shack that's cool just starting engineer pass some spots are private land this is private area so you have all these old mine shacks and things and little campsites places where people have cabins and then other parts says you're going into public land and then there's just nothing so far it's just a nicely uh dirt road i hear them but i can't see them i need to clear a tree or two so we can see down there looks like it's just coming in between those two rocks right there that's pretty neat this is the getting spot i had to come down here to see it for myself that's a lot of water pretty cool you guys want to go for a swim a jeep oh look you can see it way up there wow look at this is it going to eat you supposed to go that way you're asking me where do we go hey this land is for sale right here if anybody is interested oh yeah absolutely let's do that there's a lot of land for sale out here actually be kind of hard to get to and you couldn't get out here in the winter but other than that it's pretty cool you want by the house bed i wonder how much they want for a house like that you got to take the bridge to get there and deal with all the tourists and take pictures of your house [Music] it's raining again well we're here it's raining pretty good getting cold again is that freaking you out honey tell the truth before you started videoing i had this like awful like feeling of us what if we kept on rolling and then where would we go and how squished would we be by the end would they even be able to tell who we were oh it's several thousand feet down there so basically bloody mushy mess is interesting there you go okay [Music] we're still going up it's so rainy i can't even get it to focus wow that was pretty pretty hairy being up on the side of that we just came down from up there some switchbacks and now we've decided not to continue on the loop because we've already done most of it and we would just be retracing our footsteps instead we're gonna go this direction i don't even know the name of the trail but it goes to orae instead of back to where we came no sense in going back to where we came right are you sleeping she's a little tired and worn out i think we need to find a hotel tonight get us a nice shower and a nice soft bed yeah you are pretty stinky oh yeah look at that wow now that is a view i wouldn't mind living right here having that view so this trail i don't even know what it's called but it's the rockiest and hardest trail by far that we've done so far it's not hard but it's just it's just not a paved road like the others it's quite rocky and uh gotta go a little bit slower on this one but this is the one uh coming back into ore at least i hope that's where we come out [Music] do [Music] all right well we made it into the town of orange we finished up the alpine loop and then exited the wrong way but it was fun and we got that much closer to orae so without having to backtrack so what do you think of the trail the first the alpine loop was a lot easier than i expected probably could have done it at a station wagon or even a car two-wheel drive car yeah we saw a van out there and some station wagons uh i think you could do it in a prius probably but that exit trail definitely not we had to help out a guy that was in a stock jl i think he could have made it it was just kind of scraping along the bottom every every now and then but uh yeah so it was awesome i think the views are what people go there for it was a little bit busy a lot of atvs and a lot of jeeps i agree what do you want to do now take a nap sun getting in your eyes yes all right let's go check out all right cherokee [Music] cherokee jerky [Music] jerky turkey double cherokee oh yeah wow look at that opera house not a cherokee
