with paints just spewing up [Music] [Music] this looks like a fun place to play oh and look all the color is gone uh oh what happened where'd it all go [Music] hmm oh look at this a big pipe oh it says colors blocked gently shape this book from side to side to unclog the pipe oh friends will you help me shake let's shake from side to side put your hands up and let's go side to side side to side ready go shake shake shake shake shake side to side side to side side to side to side to side decide to side to side [Laughter] well that ought to do it let's see oh hmm [Music] hmm that's odd try shaking it up and down this time oh okay we can do it right friends let's put our hands up and go up up and down up and down ready go up and down up and down up down up down that's it up down up down up down up down up down up down okay let's see [Applause] well done we found a color what color did we find [Music] that's right we found red let's play with balloons will you help me find the colors first what color is this it's red i'm popping with colored dye today it's safe but i should still protect my eyes three two one pop let's see that again [Music] well done friends pop you found red red the color of love fire trucks and ladybugs a hydrant data stop sign strawberries in summertime oh but look these pipes are twisted turn the book all the way around to straighten them out okay friends let's turn around can you stand up and turn around like this turn turn turn and i'll turn the book are you ready go turn turn turn turn okay now let's turn fast turn turn turn very good friends oh oh my [Music] excellent oh look everyone what color [Music] that's right yellow we found yellow yellow is pouring out what color is this balloon yellow three two one pop [Music] again pop you found yellow yellow hello sun school bus and rubber ducks corn to eat a bumblebee a lemon squeeze oh and look [Music] yellow is mixing with red and they're turning do you know friends what happens when you mix red and yellow orange what color is next orange three two one pop pop orange you found orange orange like a basketball jack-o'-lanterns leaves and fall orangutans traffic cones a carrot nose [Applause] oh maybe that's too much turn the book sideways to dump some yellow out okay friends let's practice bending sideways first this way ready bend enough now this way bend and up now will you help me let's dump out some of this yellow ready let's see [Music] great job but now yellow is headed straight for what color is this blue now what color balloon it's blue three two one pop yahoo [Music] [Music] pop blue you found blue blue when you're feeling sad all the pairs of jeans you have the sky above the wavy sea some blueberries and [Music] you guessed it yellow and blue are mixing what color do they make when they mix green what color green three two one pop yay pop you found green green watch it go grass leaves avocado a frog that hops a string of beans and evergreen yellow and blue are mixing to make [Music] green yikes green is taking over and blue is almost gone quickly push the button to drain blue friends will you help me where is the button [Music] over here no that's just some buckets where's the button huh oh oh down here it says push will you push with me please put your finger up and let's push ready go [Music] you saved blue but now blue is dripping all over red rub the blue with your fingers to wipe it off okay friends can i see your fingers now let's rub rub rub rub ready go rub very good oh dear oh i almost forgot when you smear blue with red you make a new color what color do you make huh [Music] purple that's right blue smeared with red and turned purple last one what color purple three two one pop yeah that was fun pop you found purple we can also say violet called purple too grapes eggplants these other foods fields of lavender flowers found in nature but wait what's that sound [Music] oh no no no quick turn the book all the way around to close the pipes okay okay friends put your hands up and roll roll roll all the way around ready good job everyone oh okay okay oh oh no the pipes must be broken colors exploding everywhere shut the book okay cute shut the up color blocked oh thank you friends i really needed your help with that one and now that we've practiced with all the colors let's sing the colors let's sing a is yellow now do you remember what happens when we mix red and yellow let's see [Music] mix mix mix it's orange now let's use blue paint blue do you remember what do we get when we mix blue with yellow let's see [Music] it's green great job mixing red orange yellow green and blue now let's play with paint red yellow and blue these are the primary colors let's mix red and yellow they make [Music] orange yellow and blue they make [Music] green now red and blue they make purple [Music] now with my finger paints i'm going to paint a picture starting with red paint paint paint [Music] next is orange [Music] do you know what picture i'm painting [Music] let's see next color is yellow [Music] now green blue and violet or purple [Music] what did i make i'll use this marker to show you if you haven't guessed already i'm making [Music] a bunch of balloons rainbow balloons hooray [Music] how the finch got his colors retold by anne-marie riley guertin illustrations by helena perez-garcia many years ago before the world bloomed in magnificent colors the earth lays stark and gray the animals that graced its skies and roamed its lands were the colors of dirt clay and stone to prepare earth for its awakening a great rain fell upon the land it rained for many days and nights on the eleventh day as if by magic the rain stopped as the clouds gave way the animals looked up to see a rainbow peering down at them [Music] awestruck the animals watched as the bow of light bent toward the earth as rainbows shimmered down she turned everything in her path into bright bold colors the fish in the ocean waters glinted silver violet and aquamarine the yellow duck paddled in the sapphire blue of the pond and the red fox scurried through the amber forest gazing upon the beauty below him great bird ruler of the bird kingdom called out to rainbow he was tired of his stone gray feathers and wished to be a beautiful color rainbow agreed and with one swift kiss she turned great bird from gray to shimmering gold the other birds gathered around and they began to beg and plead for colors of their own please rainbow we want to be as beautiful as the other animals please give us color too hearing their cries rainbow agreed great bird called the birds together and lined them up the birds chirped and chattered worried that all of rainbow's colors would be taken fearing he'd be last parrot the loudest of all the birds pushed his way to the front of the line green make me green he called out in his screechy voice green like the frog that leaps in the pond i want to be green like the rolling hills below and green like the cactus so spectacular against the barren desert and with one swift kiss from rainbow parrots shimmered like an emerald one by one rainbow gave color to each of the birds cardinal a vibrant red like the fire's flame [Music] blue jay a shadowy blue like the ocean's hidden depths and canary a brilliant yellow like the sun's dawning rays rainbow worked hard to please the birds soon the world below her and the skies around her gleamed with the magnificent colors she'd once had but rainbow began to grow eerie from her hard work her colors began to dim until finally every last drop of color had been used as the birds took flight great bird noticed one small grey bird standing before him come forward little gouldian finch he said why are you still the color of stone do you not wish for a color of your own finch hung his head oh great bird i waited patiently for my turn and now all the colors have been chosen i fear i will be great forever tears began to stream down finch's cheeks great bird paused for a moment thinking about finch's words he gazed at the beautiful birds around him and said little gouldian finch sat patiently awaiting his turn we all shouted and begged to get what we desired now there is no color left for him the other birds felt sad for their finch friend they chirped and tweeted until one of them piped up how can we write this wrong [Music] no sooner had the words been spoken then rainbow bent down and gathered a splash of color from each of the birds with one swift kiss rainbow worked her magic when finch opened his eyes he looked down in astonishment his once gray feathers sparkled brilliantly with every color of the rainbow and legend has it that from that moment on the gouldian finch became known as the my channel today let's draw and paint a picture together like this [Music] if you prefer i have a printable coloring page on my website the link is in the description box today let's paint you'll need paper a pen or marker to outline some paints i'm using watercolor and brushes if you're using watercolor try to get clean water and dirty water for paints if you're not painting you can use other colors a paper towel helps when you're using a wet brush i'm going to tape down the sides of my paper so it doesn't get crinkly when i add the wet paint to draw put your left hand on the paper open your fingers see where your pointer finger is that's where the bird's head will go imagine we'll draw a circle here for the bird's head now pick up your marker or pen go to your pointer finger and draw a small circle about this big next the bird's beak we'll go out and back in a triangle shape out and back let's make our bird happy i'm giving him a smile next the bird's eye we'll draw three circles one a little smaller two even smaller three the number two circle will get filled in with black [Music] now the bird's body we'll make an upside down raindrop shape out and to a point round and point let's grab our pen and go round and down from this point we can come back up or from the head down to the point i'll go this way [Music] next the birds wings we want to be sure our wings will fit see where the head meets the body use your hand like a pretend wing if it points up boo boo we'll run out of paper make it point out to the side this line is about the size of your finger and curve down we'll do the same thing this way make a pretend wing and draw a line and down those are so tiny we need bigger feathers for the ends of the wings let's start with this wing and make long pointy feather shapes all the way around around and around and around the wing pointy pointy pointy stop now let's make smaller round feathers we'll try to touch the line here touch see that let's try it with all the others touch touch touch touch [Music] touch touch that one's long touch touch good this side let's make our long pointy feathers around and around and around the wing pointy pointy pointy pointy stop and now let's touch just like last time touch touch touch touch okay we're ready for the tail let's make three small pointy feathers one two three and now a big fluffy feather tail use the same long pointy shapes around and around and around the tail pointy pointy pointy stop on the bird's tummy we'll make round feather shapes like a letter u one u double u triple u huh another w and now the bird's head let's make some tall pointy feathers on its head you did it now it's time to color i'm using watercolor paints but you can use whatever you have i'll try to match the colors from the book green wings and a green tail a yellow tummy a purple and blue neck a red head and an orange beak remember to make your bird however you like one way to use watercolors is starting with just plain water yeah you can use your brush to paint on some invisible clear water this helps the paint spread around i'll dip into my clean water and get the yellow color lightly and carefully just like i'm using a crayon or pencil i'll fill in the parts i want yellow clean it off in the dirty water and tap tap tap on the towel to change color dip in the clean water again and now i'll use green i'm trying to use the lighter colors first i'm painting green on the small part of the wing and the small part of the tail rinse tap tap tap and get some clean water to change colors i'll use a darker green for the feathers on the wings [Music] and the feathers on the tail same for this wing over here [Music] rinse [Music] something i like about watercolors is you can mix the colors up a little so now i'm going back with my lighter green and putting it on top of the darker green when they mix together they make a whole new green try experimenting with your paints at home [Music] now rinse pat pat and grab clean water for a new color i'll use purple for my bird's neck just like the bird from the story we read the gouldian finch if you need more color grab more water and dip back in to change rinse rinse rinse tap tap tap and get some new clean water now it's time for the blue part of the neck i changed my brush to smaller because this part is small rinse tap and change i'm using orange to go on top of the tummy and make some of the feathers pop and orange for the beak too rinse [Music] tap tap tap clean water now i'll use red for the head red head that rhymes i'm being very careful with my small brush especially around the eye then i rinsed and changed colors back to the light green for the bird's head feathers just for fun i added some yellow too mixing colors is fun there now just like an artist we're going to sign our name in the corner that's called your autograph my autograph looks like this be our eye spells bree and i like to put a happy face they're all three today let's spell and write color words inspired by this book how the finch got his colors like this [Music] you'll need paper and something to write with you can use colored pencils markers even crayons if you're using colors like me you'll need red orange yellow green blue purple pink brown and black of course you can use a regular pencil too if you don't have handwriting paper you can make your own using a ruler or any straight side it helps to put a dashed line through the middle that will help guide our letters for big letters they touch the top line and the bottom for tall letters they touch the top line too most lowercase letters stay under the dashed line when we write we use straight lines curved lines moaning circles and sometimes dots let's try red r e d red r feel yellow yellow is my favorite color when i'm happy i feel yellow what color do you feel when you're happy maybe today maybe you don't feel so happy maybe you feel sad some days are like that can you make a sad face [Music] if you're sad and you know it then cry if you're sad and you know it then cry if you're sad and you know it and you really gotta show it if you're sad and you know it you can cry yeah some days i feel sad sometimes i say i'm feeling blue when i feel sad oh if you don't feel sad well maybe you feel silly today do you feel silly if you're silly and you know it stick out and you know it stick out your tongue blah sometimes i feel silly what color do you feel when you feel silly you might be in a silly mood and full of laughs but you also might feel angry today maybe angry and you know it and you really wanna show it if you're angry and you know it get mad oh yeah sometimes when i'm angry my face starts to look red angry is a pretty big feeling but sometimes we you if you're shy and you know it you can hide [Music] sometimes when i meet new people or try new things or go new places i can feel a bit shy did i surprise you are you feeling surprised well if you're surprised and you know it then gasp can you gasp open your eyes wide and open your mouth let's try if you're surprised and you know it then gasp if you're surprised and you know it and you really want to show it if you're surprised and you know it then gasp well being surprised is very exciting it's high energy but maybe um maybe you don't feel so energetic you might feel sleepy if you're sleepy and you know it then yawn if you're sleepy and you know it then yawn if you're sleepy and you know it and what what oh and you really want to show it if you're sleepy and you know it then yawn maybe you're not any of those things maybe you're just okay if you feel okay let's shrug if you're okay and you know it then shrug if you're okay and you know it then shrug if you're okay the one that you feel in today's story we're going to hear about lots of different feelings and how they're all okay and how they all have a different color let's read what color is your day from the color feel play series written by cameron wells illustrated by eleanor losby what color is your day my love is it blue is it green or gray explore the shades and hues you feel when you laugh or cry or play [Music] are you blue like a wilted flower that's waiting for the sun [Music] or does blue just make you calmly reflect on everything you've done [Music] pink fills your heart with kindness and tickles you with joy [Music] you might feel pink when you're silly or playing with your toys which brings us on to purple a friendly hue of blue original and individual are purple's traits of you [Music] do [Music] so orange and yellow are best of buds they play so well together they're creative social butterflies like a play date in sunny weather [Music] [Music] green can feel like envy when you want what isn't yours [Music] but green can also feel quite fresh when your happiness is restored [Music] red is a youthful color it's exciting and bold too it is powerful and loving a true reflection of you [Music] [Music] [Music] and don't forget the color brown when you're feeling safe and sound it is beautiful and earthy like tree roots in the ground [Music] do sometimes feelings can be complex they're not always black or white you might feel more like a moody gray and that's perfectly all right [Music] so what color is your day my love or maybe you feel more than one ask yourself at the start of each day and again when the day is done [Music] are you feeling green or maybe orange black or red or blue or maybe yellow and some pink and a splash of purple too [Music] the colors that describe your day can change with how you feel happy embarrassed confused or mad these emotions are all quite real [Music] but more importantly they are yours so feel as long as you may for a moment in time or a few hours more or one color for the day and when you're ready the choice is yours to feel a new color or hue whatever you choose whatever you feel is beautiful because it is you color is your day and have a wonderful colorful day bye today let's draw a rainbow together like this for this picture you need some paper a black marker or pen and something to color with pencils pens or crayons okay let's get started today i'm using crayons these are beeswax crayons you can use crayons pens paint anything you have is okay do you have your paper okay first let's use the black pen on the bottom of our paper on the left side let's make a straight line and stop now jump and make another straight line good these will be our clouds now let's make some bumpy clouds boing boing boing good now the other side boing boing boing boing boing nice job now it's time to make our rainbow shape let's start on the outside of the cloud and make one long [Music] long long long long line to the other side we made an arch good now let's move over you can use your finger to measure the line [Music] [Applause] we made another line let's do it again go go go all the way over okay now look we have two spaces for color but we need five more colors so let's keep drawing okay how many spaces ready one two three four five six seven great now let's say bye bye to the black pen it's time to color first let's color the clouds i'm going to use a light blue crayon when i color things like clouds i like to use little circle motions circle circle circle circle circle circle because clouds are kind of round especially our big bouncy clouds so i'm making light circles and a little bit darker circles and on the other side i'll do the same thing it's time for our first rainbow color what color is it oh it's red ha ha i'll use my red crayon and start to color the shape of the rainbow is different from the shape of the clouds so i move my crayon a little bit differently now i'm making longer lines back and forth back and forth back and forth we made seven spaces for the seven colors of the rainbow and red is first i like to hold my paper with my other hand to keep it from moving around too much red red red red red red red red red red red red nice now which color is next do you know oh orange i'm using my orange crayon to color the second space [Music] orange orange orange orange orange orange orange orange orange keep coloring you can stop the video if you need more time [Music] what color comes next [Music] it's yellow it's my favorite color i like yellow bananas i like yellow sunshine hmm yellow flowers yellow yellow yellow yellow yellow yellow yellow yellow yellow yeah time for the fourth color what is it oh it's green [Music] let's color the green space green green green green green green green green green green green green very nice [Music] okay color number five what is it it's blue the ocean is blue the sky is blue i like blue let's color you're doing great but what color comes next oh it's indigo indigo is like a dark blue color and sometimes it looks a little purple too it's in between blue and purple just one color left what is it it's violet violet is another name for purple what a nice picture finished wow you can leave your rainbow just like this or like me you can go back to the black pen and make a face for your rainbow i'm making two eyes in the clouds and a smile maybe i'll go back and add some eyelashes there use your creativity and make your rainbow any way you like wow friends your rainbow looks beautiful we used lots of
